Monday Mysteries: Solving Your Weekly Woes
date: 2-10-2020
Card of the Day/Week:
XII The Hanged Woman/Man
This week is a week of sacrifice and patience. Learning new things. You will find that you will have to put some time into what is positive and negative in your life and the things around you. It’s easy to look over things and not see what you need to be seeing. Or at least what the universe is trying to get you to see.
Don’t take credit for something that isn’t yours. This is important. You may want to but this is not the time to be doing that. Honestly, there is not really ever a time or place for that to occur, but you need to be honest. This is part of the sacrifice you might experience.
Learn from the obstacles that come up in your life. You can do this. It’s not hard to find things for you to do, and most of the time the obstacles will come flying at you like a bug to a windshield! It’s just going to happen and you need to prepare yourself for that. Consider this card to be a helmet that helps ward away the “bugs” in your life. The Hanged Woman is telling you that you need to be prepared for things, which will help you work them out well. Patience is the key word in this area.
Sacrifice and Patience of the Journey.

Befriending Your Decks
So I hear an awful lot of people who don’t really “get along” with the tarot decks that they purchase. I have never had that problem personally, and I am here to explain my process so that you can be good friends with your decks as well. You should be able to do this with any deck.
First of all, you need a deck. Any deck will do. If you want to start simply, either the Rider-Waite, Marseilles, or even Thoth deck (although Thoth is going to probably be a little more complicated to work with. The Thoth decks that I have worked with have always taken a lot longer to work with/befriend) will do. These are all quite popular choices and will work just fine for you.
So what I do is you do a flat out, cold reading. Meaning just shuffle a few times, not too much, and pull out about three cards. Read this reading to see how this deck feels or how it likes to be treated. For example, if I got The Tower in the reading, I would say that this deck in particular is going to be hard to get along with but will be definitely worth it in the end. It could mean many things. A Lovers card could mean that this deck wants attention ALL THE TIME. How I read it will vary.
This would now give you an idea how your deck functions. I would do the usual thing of sleeping with this deck. Yes, you would have to sleep with it. No, you don’t have to keep it under your pillow. I always put my deck on the nightstand next to my bed. Sometimes it will give me a dream about the things it likes to work with, personally. There are so many signs I could interpret about what this deck likes.
So, get ready to start reading with this deck normally. I will want to carry it around with me (like in a purse, bag, backpack, pocket, etc) for the next (approximately) week or so. I usually will get a feeling of how long to carry it around. In a way, it will start speaking to me. It will let me know what it wants. If you are confused about what it wants, do a one card pull and see if it is ready to read with you or not; Right side up means yes, Reversal means no. Easy peasy. This is how you and your cards learn to converse with each other. You are building your relationship with the deck this way.
If you feel like “forcing” it to read, this is possible. If this conversation feels reluctant or like it’s holding back it will be harder to work with. But the more I do this the more it will have issues with it. Just do a tarot check every so often with a one card reading. This continues to be like a tune-up and you need to do this on a regular basis to understand how the deck is feeling. I make sure I am riffling/shuffling the cards and spending time with them however much I can as I get free time. You personally need to invest in this relationship.
This will work for just about any deck, really. Once it says to read properly with you, feel free to use it for any purpose you have. Some will only want to read for romantic stuff, some will only want to read more “general” readings. You’ll find out with your one card pulls. Besides the yes or no answer, it will provide a card that describes things it wants to do. It’s really pretty simple.
Anyway, I hope that this helps someone out there. This is just how I learned how to read and I’ve been successful ever since I learned it.
Much love. Aunt Vyvyan Wormwood
