“In 1924, Keaton ordered a custom Style 3 taropatch complete with his name inlaid in pearl letters on the headstock. You can see and hear Keaton and uke virtuoso Cliff “Ukulele Ike” Edwards play this very instrument in the 1930 movie Doughboys.”

1. Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, was a ukulele enthusiast. In reality, he spent several weeks in quarantine after visiting the moon, most of which he spent strumming his uke.

2. Tiny Tim's "Tiptoe through the Tulips," written for the ukulele, reached the top of the music charts in 1968.

3. Ukuleles have a figure-eight outline and resemble an electric guitar. They are available in four key sizes: soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone. The soprano ukulele is the most common size.

4. George Harrison of the legendary band The Beatles was a ukulele collector of hundreds of them. He frequently gave them to his relatives.

5. Ukuleles usually have four strings, but certain strings are combined, resulting in an instrument of up to eight strings. The word "taropatch ukulele" refers to a ukulele with six or eight strings.
