This stunning site (100,000 m2) welcomes 100 artists with 150 artworks from 17 countries. It’s the largest urban art exhibition in the world. Worth to go there! Abstract is cool. Like well cool. What’s so cool about it is the freedom to create whatever you like. For example, Sten Lex are popping around not just spraying a wall, but covering a whole building in these intricate glitchy patterns. This is what I imagine would happen if you smashed up a laptop that only displayed black and white. You get these striking, dark patterns that would easily draw your attention wherever you was walking.

This duo from Rome & Taranto are smashing it in the Italian urban stencil game, using a vast amount of paper to create these monumental pieces of art. In interviews they’ve spoken about their way of working, giving a bit more insight into how they get to the final stage and why they do their work the way they do. Firstly they do a ridiculous amount of abstract sketches, like 300. This vast amount of sketches is then slimmed down to  6 and scaled up. Once all scaled up they begin to apply and voila, finished piece. Why is only black & white used? Because it looks banging, but also because of time and cost. Preferring to have their murals done in a couple of days caters more to a simple dark colour pallete like this. Lighter colours require a lot more layers to be as vibrant, which again cost a ton more money. Streetartnews have an interview with Sten Lex that goes into depth a lot more, deffo check it out.
