Bend in the Road

The chill of the night trickled her spine, raising goosebumps along her exposed skin. Although, the temperature hadn't seemed to slight her mood. A well deserved meal after a long job had all but soothed and negative feelings she carried, and any sense of fatigue had lifted. 

She looked forward to the familiar atmosphere of her apartment. Where she could make a cup of tea and stare at her novel she was supposed to be working on. The idea was there, finding the motivation to write it out was what faulted her. That, and the fact that every person who entered her home read it at their own leisure. Finishing it meant more people that would read it without her permission. 

       She let out a deep sigh, the thought crossed her mind that someone might already be there, most likely Natsu, but she would cross that bridge when she came to it.

      Thats when an uneasiness swept over her, something she had overlooked. A presence, it seemed, had been lurking close by for quite sometime. Approaching the stranger this late in the evening would not be a wise decision, considering what kind of people follow girls at this time of night. However, the looming entity peeked her curiosity. Peering down the cobblestone street behind her, she shifted her stance trying to get a better look at who might be using the shadow as cover.

                 A familiar presence seemed to linger near Ultear, one she had encountered many times before. Although the aura felt different somehow, as if it had been enveloped in darkness. Ultear shifted, attempting to catch a glimpse of what had been playing the role of her shadow. The mage staring her down was not the one she had expected to find.

                                             "...You? What are you doing here?"
