Creating buzz among the fans, Ludo star cast had shared interesting videos on Instagram, on Wednesday, challenging Netflix and asking for the rules. Aditya Roy Kapur shared a video that earned much attention from the fans. While Torbaaz, starring Sanjay Dutt, is an emotional story of transformation, A Suitable Boy is based on the critically acclaimed novel by Vikram Seth, starring Ishaan Khatter, Tabu, Tanya Maniktala, Rasika Dugal, Shahana Goswami and Ram Kapoor. It will be available on Netflix globally, except in the United States and Canada. Crime thriller Raat Akeli Hai, featuring Radhika Apte and Nawazuddin Siddiqui; comedy satire Dolly Kitty Aur Who Chamakte Sitare, starring Konkona Sensharma and Bhumi Pednekar; romantic comedy “Ginny Weds Sunny, starring Yami Gautam and Vikrant Massey, and Gitanjali Rao’s festival favourite animation film “Bombay Rose” are also part of the slate. “Mismatched”, a young adult romance series, starring Prajakta Koli and Rohit Saraf, is also part of the new slate. The show is based on Sandhya Menon’s book "When Dimple Met Rishi". Monika Shergill, VP-Content, Netflix India, told PTI their aim is to “tell the most defining stories from India that will first appeal to the Indian consumers”. “It is really important that a story coming out of India becomes big in India. When local stories become big locally, that’s when they make maximum impact globally. For us, it is important to tell the biggest and the most defining stories in India and to work with storytellers who bring their most authentic vision and passion for stories,” she said in an interview ahead of slate announcement. Shergill said they had been working hard to bring these titles out on the streamer. “We have been in advance stages of post (production) on some, many are ready. The important goal was to put together a slate that has a diverse mix of content which can appeal to different moods, different tastes because for Netflix, it is important to be a service and not just one title destination,” she said. These new titles will join the upcoming slate of the already-announced films on Netflix, which include the inspiring true story of “Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl”, starring Janhvi Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Angad Bedi, Viineet Kumar, Manav Vij and Ayesha Raza Mishra, and dysfunctional family drama “Tribhanga - Tedhi Medhi Crazy”, featuring Kajol, Tanvi Azmi and Mithila Palkar.

As theatres remain closed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, many filmmakers have opted for streamers to release their films. Asked about the impact of COVID-19 on streaming services, Shergill said though there was an increase in viewing numbers, they are “mindful that it is a temporary phase”. “It has been an unprecedented time. People have looked for emotional comfort and we are happy that as a service, we were able to provide that. But we are also mindful that this is a temporary phase that has increased the viewing numbers.

“The one good thing that has happened is that many more people will cultivate a taste for premium storytelling, for discovering new kind of storytelling from India and around the world,” she added. Shergill said as a service, the streamer wants to explore all the formats in India - be it scripted storytelling, film stories, unscripted storytelling, documentary series or stand-up - without compromise. “It is really about telling the best stories and it is never just about scale compromising on the flavour of storytelling or the kind of subjects we choose. For us, high concept, high craft and a great mix of stories and storytellers is the most important thing.

Mrinal' A story of self-love and courage. . A year ago, Mrinal's world didn’t make any sense, she had lost herself, her identity, amidst people who didn’t understand her. In their company the air itself seemed stifling, suppressing the most elemental aspects of life and the very being of her existence. It went on till she finally said no to the things that were not true to who she was as a person. But she knew that one can't teach someone to love themselves by hating someone else. In fact, it never was about anyone else but her. Cont. . 'Mrinal' A story of self love and courage. . Inspiration to this series came from the story ‘Mrinal ki Chitthi’ from the show ‘Stories by Rabindranath Tagore’ which is about a progressive woman who leaves the house of her regressive husband and in-laws. The story is told in epistolary form where Mrinal writes a letter to her husband expressing the many ways in which she felt suffocatingly subordinated. Unlike other members of the household who unquestionably accepts the patriarchal system, Mrinal’s education does not allow her to do the same. After a chain of tragic events, Mrinal realises that women have no freedom in an oppressive society where women are considered inferior. Mrinal says, “I am not just the youngest daughter in law of your house. I am me… It took me 15 years to understand the position of women in your house and your society… I want to breathe freely now”. For our visual series, we picked up the story from where the episode ends. The visual series revolves around a typical day in the life of Mrinal and how it has changed from what it used to be some time ago, where her identity was just reduced to being somebody's wife. Now, she has taken the reigns of writing her own narrative, where she is free to indulge in the wonders of all the million possibilities of what her life can be. But more than anything else, the possibility of her life being her own. We hope that Mrinal’s story will resonate with people who are at crossroads in their lives. Our aim is to empower people to help them make the right decisions for themselves, just like Mrinal, no matter how difficult they may seem. After all, life is all about the choices we make. Mrinal' A story of self-love and courage. . The one constant in Mrinal’s life was the presence of fear. Overtime Mrinal had learnt to befriend it and move forward in her life. There was a time when she would stop herself from reading her favourite author ‘Manto’ only because she was fearful of Ashok’s disapproval. Her own likings and dislikings became irrelevant under the shadow of what people around her and her husband wanted. She was always afraid of standing up for herself or pursuing a life that she wanted, frozen with fear incase Ashok wasn’t happy. Eventually Mrinal found the courage and strength she needed to fly from her fears. Her fears finally helped her set free. Her fear of living a life that was not worthy of existence gave her the wings to fly. Her fears shook her to the realisation that she was living a lie. In one of the pages of her diary Mrinal once wrote - ‘ I never thought my fear would become my best friend and eventually help me flee from my lifeless life with Ashok, oh dear fear, thank you for bringing back life into my existence! ’. 'Mrinal' A story of self-love and courage. . Mrinal’s diary was her best friend. She spent hours writing into it and once in a while she would turn back the pages to go back and relive moments from her old life only to appreciate what she currently had . She couldn’t help but wonder where did she manage to get the courage she needed to leave behind a loveless marriage and move ahead all by herself. She was surprised by her own courage and perseverance. Slowly but surely Mrinal was healing from within, she was reading again, she was singing again, she was smiling again, she was living again ... Mrinal' A story of self love and courage. . Over the years Mrinal had forgotten who she was. Suddenly being a position to appreciate herself and live a life that she wanted was something Mrinal was getting used to. She was finding joys in small little things like enjoying a cup of her favourite tea or smelling her beloved ‘motiphool gajras’. Mrinal had a spring in her step, she had hope in her eyes, she had her independence and more than anything else she once again had love in her heart. A heart that was once broken was now full of dreams and aspirations. Mrinal was slowly moving forward in the right direction, and that is what mattered. 'Mrinal' A story of self-love and courage. . Everything around Mrinal had changed, or perhaps she had just started to look at things differently. She could have never imagined that one brave step of leaving her unappreciative husband ‘Ashok’ would bring her so much of joy. She was scared but determined. She was worried but hopeful. She was anxious but excited. Deep inside her heart Mrinal knew she had to leave her old life behind to find herself again in spite of the challenges she would have to face for being a free spirited women in times where leaving one’s husband was unheard of. That did not stop Mrinal, she was willing to do whatever it took to find her way back to herself. .
