Tales of a camp counselor

sesson 1 July 4-14 campers ages 8-9

day #1: the group cannot agree on what game to play. My co-counselor and I decide to intervene and get them playing the game elephant soccer. All the boys have this burning need to be a black hole in the game prompting some of them to shout out “Put it in me!” repeatedly. Co-counselor and I hang our heads in shame. where have we gone wrong?

day #4: a water fight breaks out by a camper from another group dumping their water bottle on me. Chaos ensues. one camper had sugar in her water bottle and dumps it on another camper. She then proudly exclaims “Wow, she’s gunna taste soooo good!” I stop the water fight. 

day #8: my 8-year-old camper is telling everyone that he is 11. All the others yell at him and call him a liar. I go to break up the argument but not before a camper says; “He’s lying for sure. I should know I’m a mathologist!” I face palm and go console my upset camper.
