#not going to be a full 14 courses but its gonna be multiple courses for sure#ngl this is really stretching my already paltry skills as a writer#feel like conversation heavy scenes are just boring to a lot of folks#and this fic is already conversation heavy.#and now ive got a stilted but on purpose conversation between a large number of nobles#all with their own agendas#its fun and im having a good time but also im probably going t have to do multiple drafts#but also like. val royeaux is on the water but the reservoir is tainted#we ever find out why?#so i do at least get to add some nods into whats happening outside the nobility#oc: annette trevelyan#vultures and dragons#the dynamics of the war in orlais are super interesting to me? like the noble class seems removed from it.#while also being the driver of it. each noble house with their own troops. but then many of them opting for smaller more local conflict#taking advantage to grab more land or better land. expand their assets. as opposed to joining celene or gaspard to end the war#how many of them are profiting off the conflict? how many are eager for it to continue so they can continue to use it for their own ends?#and how does that feed into the rise of the freemen?#and we know theres venatori amongst the orlesian nobility#and venatori manipulating the freemen#what does that look like in practice?#idk orlais is just super fascinating to me. its so fucked up. decadence and decay all in one.
