this is a long story but listen to me. i bought outer wilds a couple of weeks ago when it was on sale. last weekend i was bored and wanting to play a new game but i knew it would be bad for me if i did because i would obsess over it -- i would spend most of the day playing a cool new game and not do college work -- and that is bad because my finals are next week and i need to study!

anyways i did start outer wilds last weekend. yeah i did spend the next days playing the game and not doing school work. but i finished it today and oh my god. oh my god. oh my god!! it was so beautiful!!! so meaningful!!! and i can never experience it again!! the wonder!! the awe!! the curiosity!! i'm so emotional just thinking about it. i'm sad that i finished the game and the story ended but now i can be a normal functioning college student and study for my final.

i learned the game has a dlc today, too, but i CANNOT play it until my finals are over. i have to pass this exam. i love you so much outer wilds but it will have to wait until next week.

Okay but about that new Alien Stage thing....I know this is a tired and true cliche that is pretty popular with most modern metafiction but, like....I'm unironically asking. What if we're the aliens observing these characters like they're our pets?

#i havent been able to keep up on my fandoms cause busy life yay....#but alien stage's pretty short #and that ad...like the way it seemed almost targeted to /us/#and the top 3 being our boys (well that's also because our girls are dead. run away. somehow a rebel or something??)#but just......#im obsessed with the implications that us viewers are the aliens #watching their suffering like theyre something we're scoping to own #and sometimes isnt that really what fandom culture can be sort of portrayed as?#im not saying fandoms are these foreign aliens outside of the characters' world (aka their outer space of sorts)....#...who disrupt the characters' peace/invade their world to take them as pets and treat them like beloved animals....#...but im also saying it COULD be scraped to that and that messes me up #i love vivinos so much and the creativity they put in their animations like....ough #alien stage #fandom spamdom #stuff i say

Gonna rant about starfield so if you like the game just dont read this it’s not for you.

Gave starfield another go, lasted a couple hours this time got to the planet with the city on but…

It’s just so boring.

And grey

And fuzzy?

And bg3 on ultra looks stunning on my pc, ultra settings on starfield looks like a bit sharper grey boringness. And runs like a potato?

I don’t think this game is playable tbh. Also another game where you pointlessly make a character to never see it again… Maybe I’m still obsessed with bg3 but Larian is just really showing up how LAZY Bethesda has gotten

#bad graphics #boring world #boring loot #haven’t met any companions #and reminding me of outer worlds if you stripped it of all its personality humour and message about capitalism gone mad #it’s just so… bad #the story is bland as all heck #I don’t wanna take any screenshots cuz it’s so ugly #it needs reshade BADLY #But mass effect made space pretty #so did outerworlds!#and Bethesda went no grey rocks in space #grey fuzzy hue over everything #im just going to guess any romance with companions is just talking right #no animated scenes like cyberpunk or bg3 #how do Bethesda manage to release a game that feels SO DATED #and yet wrecks the specs of any computer that plays it #it’s not even a game that gets prettier with better specs either #this was a birthday present and im just..#glad it wasn’t my money wasted #it’s such a shame cuz I LOVE Skyrim!#I loved fallout!#but this?#I think Bethesda may lose a lot of trust after this I think #because this is so… generic

im still conflicted about my placements for the little shop of horrors at the moment

#talking #CLICK SEE ALL IF YOU DARE.#norman as seymour is like. accurate because Look At Him you cant tell me he wouldnt get himself into that mess.#but at the same time ramona would fit the role really well also [“strange plants are my hobby”]#but ramona ALSO works for mr. mushnik #and i want to cast vannie as audrey ii because i mean its just really good. you eat blood audrey ii how am i supposed to keep feeding you #but if ramona was seymour it would make sense for me to cast sunny as audrey ii because of the outer space aspect of its character #and dont even get me started on the placements for audrey. if norman was seymour my first thought is obviously gonna be trip as audrey #because like at first glance its like Yeah that makes sense #but at a further glance NO IT DOESNT!!! audrey is shown to be fantasizing about wanting to move to a suburbia which trip canonically HATES #BUT!! at a FURTHER glance theres that shared aspect of wanting to get out of that awful town with the person you love!#so that part does check out! however if trip was cast as audrey then who would orin be? my thought for that would be debbie and i would jus #change the part where theyre like romantic because. ew. AND that would make sense because of the fact she would get eaten #by vannie specifically in this scenario. HOWEVER #if we're gonna roll with that and just change their relationship to each other i would ALSO have to change the fact that at the end #of the musical where SPOILER audrey dies and shes like “i want you to feed me to the plant” because trip would not take that shit lying dow #BUT!! if im okay with changing peoples relationships to each other then technically if i wanted the orin thing to still work how it was #intended to then TECHNICALLY fern could get cast as audrey as well and him and norman could be hashtag platonic #but outside of miranda being cast as orin it wouldnt actually fit at all #anyway the reason im leaning more towards the norman/vannie/trip iteration #other than the fact that im more focused on those characters at the moment #is that with the ramona/sunshine iteration i have no idea who audrey would be because i havent really explored ramonas relationships #with other people as much outside of sunny and mina #and while mina fits the audrey personality a whole lot it wouldnt really work with the way her and ramona's dynamic is canonically #sigh. its a hard life for me. sorry for typing about this in the tags so much
