Eden of the East part 2

This anime definitely feels like a much longer, larger, and thorough source material that ended up unfortunately becoming very cut down in the animation process. The first half of the anime is almost purely creating the setting of this Japanese world where chaos and issues are abundant. One factor might be because we only watch episodes 6, 9, 10, and 11, skipping a couple episodes, but still it feels rushed and the concept feels a little unpolished. I was expecting in the beginning a large sort of exploring each of the participants inside of the game and their own motives behind playing it. It feels reminiscent of Angel Beats. We sort of expect the anime to go through the back stories and fully flush out every character, because the anime has episodes that do so. However, the plot then becomes a little rushed and the entire premise is kind of fast forwarded to the end. With the lack of memories of Takazaki, the unexplored character of Saki, and the premise of the show revolving around the Selecao, this anime definitely could have more than just 11 episodes. I was sort of expecting a lot more commentary on the nature of the country, but likely the animation studio didn't have the funding to bring this anime to the next level. Despite that, the anime definitely still has its points. The largest commentary was still made, specifically the role of the NEETs inside of the show. NEETs are often seen as parasitic to society in a way. They go against the traditional values of work culture and are therefore seen as completely useless to society. Eden of the East has a very unique method of demonstrating the value behind NEETs. Although, they may not adhere to traditional methods of providing value to society, every person has their own individual value. What may seem as an insignificant amount, when bounded together the value is anything but negligible.
