Musical『Hetalia 〜in the new world〜』Visual Shooting Part ③【China · Sugie Taishi】Interview
02-07-2017 | Source
Sugie Taishi was born on 07 May 1992 in Shiga Prefecture. In 2014 he made his first stage appearance in Musical 『Tennis no Oujisama』2nd season as Hitouji Yuuji. After that, he starts to perform more, such as in Musical 『Touken Ranbu』 (as Namazou Toushirou), Musical 『Starmyu』 (as Hoshitani Yuta). We will talk about the two companies that bonds him together.
――The third stage has been announced, it feels like we can hear "aru yo~" again.
I also said "aru yo~"! It has that kind of feel lol I'm so happy to be able to be a part of Hetalia and I'm really looking forward to it.
――Before that, I want to hear your opinion on the previous stages.
China has a deep relationship with Japan, as has been shown many times in the play. As for the casts, we are getting along with each other more and more. I felt it during the first stage, but even until now I can feel the support from everyone. For example, when America and England were practicing, as they used their physical strength and emotion to act, we support them. When (Isogai) Ryuuko-kun was exhausted during practice, Okki (Yamaoki Yuki)-san often brings him water and other casts also give their support in their own way. Okki-san is fundamentally that kind of person, though. In my case, when I practiced singing, Dai-chan (Hirose Daisuke) helps me a lot and Uechan (Ueda Keisuke) also practiced along with me. When someone is exhausted or tattered up, everyone gave their support...... Because we know they have given their best, we support them. The stage is filled with people who work hard and know that "I participate in the success of this stage", so it becomes a very nice company.
――Also, it's amazing how the cast can still be the same as last time.
It's a really fun stage, so everyone wants to take part. And Austria also comes back. I'm happy that I can hear his beautiful voice again. His name changed (※From Kikuchi Takuya, his name as an artist changed to 「ROU」), it's a turning point for him. I wonder if we can see a new Austria? lol It seems I have raised my expectations! On the other hand, Prussia participates for the first time. When J-kun (Spain ・ Yamada James Takeshi) was playing with us for the first time, he said "I appeared alongside a big company, but I can enter this circle with nothing to worry about." I'm really happy when I heard that. That's why, I want Prussia to feel "this company is nice" as well. I personally think the Hetalia company is an ideal one. I had my first debut in April and I didn't expect Hetalia to have the exact same feeling, the chairman has their own Hetalia style and it's good.
――To become friends, are you first going to eat rice together?
We didn't really go out eating together actually. But once we go out, we talk about a lot of things. From random stuffs to things about stage. We have people who don't talk about stage and people who do, a lot of type of people. In this case I think the casts of Hetalia is good at keeping everything balanced.
――Please tell us about your enthusiasm for the third stage.
I still haven't heard anything about the story or how it will be like, but firstly I would like to come back to the original with strength. I want to bring back the China I first brought out in the first stage. I feel like China has changed during the second......, a bit off character. But it was still China. This is the China I have played as, but I want to return it to the original.
――Lastly, please give a message for the fans.
This stage is made up together by kind and hard-working people. The work has a nice feeling to it, so even people who watch it for the first time can also enjoy this musical. Please look forward to it. Please come watch, you will be happy! Cry, laugh, detox! Let it all out!! lol

《 Without Envy 》 storyboard 10 - concubine/sleeper agent!wwx & prince!lwj
Other snippets and storyboards can be found on [Master List]
Exactly 851 days - 2 years, 4 months and 11 days - after Wei Wuxian arrived at Gusu and began his mission as a sleeper agent, he was activated.
That chilly morning, he walked into the pastry shop - a front maintained by a decade-long Wen spy - a walk he'd done hundred of times on hundreds of mornings since he arrived. He breezed past the packaging counter, skipped through the faded cotton drapes, and rounded behind the back staircase to the room where Xue Yang always waited for him. Only this time, it was not just his candy-obsessed, murder-happy shidi, but a face he hadn't seen in many, many months. "...Shifu?" Wen Zhuliu's visit meant the end of his carefree days. It's time. That night, Wei Wuxian did not look at either Lan Wangji or Jiang Yanli when he bid "dianxia" and "Jiang-zhuzi" good night. He pretended to retire to bed early, after washing himself of his servant's exterior and donning his robes of night-black. He laid in the dark, waiting for time to pass, and reminded himself of his true purpose. He was never meant to care about these people; love these people. Jiang Yanli was not his doting foster sister; Lan Wangji was not his beloved wangye. I am Wei Wuxian of the great Qishan Wen. Nevernight is my home. I am a spy. Gusu is my enemy. Wei Wuxian kept his eyes closed, his breathing even, and his heartbeat slow. In the lonely quiet, he waited, and waited, and waited. Until the candlelight around the princely manor dimmed to nothing, until the night grew still and the moon shone bright and high in the dark, dark sky. Reaching under the floorboard beneath his bed, Wei Wuxian retrieved his life-long companion from its hiding place and released it from its sheath. "Hello, old friend." He whispered, stroking the blade edge. Suibian's steel glistened with cold malevolence in the stark, pale moonlight.
It would be another year before WWX's identity is discovered. During that time, he lived a double life. In the day, he was Lan Wangji's precious Wei Ying, and at night, he was the blade in Wen Ruohan's hand, stealing, killing and destroying on command. His assignments were not always murder; sometimes it required him to break into secure facilities and obtain copies of certain documents. He was never alone on these jobs; there was always someone convalescing with him from within. Slowly, he began to realize just how deep Wen Ruohan's spy network had infiltrated Gusu's foundation. In a way, it excited him, to know that the posturing and pretending would soon be over, that in the near future a quick war would sweep across the land and unite the two nations. In another way, it frightened him to the bones.
Wei Wuxian killed 37 individuals within the span of a year, 37 men and women of different ranks, status and stations. He did not always know why these people needed to die; in fact, he often didn't and preferred it that way. If he didn't know the motive, then he couldn't argue against the reason, and thus could go on believing that what Wen Ruohan did was ultimately for the betterment of everyone. The men of Gusu were weak - Wei Wuxian was always told - they were not fit to rule. The people of Gusu would be better served under a united empire. He repeated this statement to himself before every job, but over time, the mantra on his tongue began to lose its flavour.
In the meantime however, Lan Wangji and Jiang Yanli quickly formed a strong plan on how they wanted to live out the rest of their lives. Lan Wangji never quite enjoyed laying with women, but Jiang Yanli had just enough wickedness behind her demure exterior that things were... well, interesting. In any case, it was not long before she came to him all smiles and whispered the good news over luncheon .
"Truly?" Lan Wangji set down his chopsticks. "Hm uhm." Jiang Yanli dapped her mouth delicately. "Now, perhaps it's a good time to discuss how dianxia should go about winning A-Xian's affection. He's under the impression you've cast him aside on taishi's orders and has been giving him the cold shoulder." "I wasn't." Lan Wangji defended himself, distressed and slightly offended. "It's just, huangshu's been watching me like a hawk. I was afraid any further attempt to be closer to him would give my uncle reason to remove him from my household entirely." Jiang Yanli was sympathetic. "The summer hunt is in two week's time, and afterwards, since bixia always likes to finish the night on the river with fireworks, perhaps...." She let the sentence dangle, a knowing smile playing at her lips. Lan Wangji felt hope.
Unfortunately, a little hiccup happened before the hunt could take place. Jin Ziyan falsely believed that Wei Wuxian had fallen out of favour with Lan Wangji and was itching to show him his place. Poor Mo Xuanyu was caught in the middle. Jin Ziyan knew Wei Wuxian was an audacious one, but not so stupid that he could be easily goaded into committing a grave offence. Thus, Jin Ziyan planned to cause an incident in the garden whereby poor Mo Xuanyu would unwittingly "offend" him, and he would publicly announce a punishment that was harsher than necessary. He made sure that Jiang Yanli and Wei Wuxian were near by, as they usually took a mid-afternoon stroll after lunch. True to his predictions, Wei Wuxian could not stop himself for interfering on Mo Xuanyu's behalf. Then in their altercation, Jin Ziyan would fall into the pond, making it seem as though Wei Wuxian was the one who shoved him out of anger. Oh but a lowly servant shoving Hanguang-wang's deputy consort into the pond??! He was as good as dead. What's more, everything happened on the same afternoon that Lan Qiren was scheduled to visit Lan Wangji to discuss matters of court. If it was only Lan Wangji, Jin Ziyan knew Wei Wuxian would suffer little consequence, but taishi tolerated no insubordination or churlish behaviour of any kind.
Lan Qiren was incensed, livid, but he was not hasty to deal the punishment. Instead he turned to his nephew and asked, whilst fully knowing the answer, "Wangji, your household follows the regulations that govern all princely manors, does it not?" "It does, huangshu." "Then tell me what is the punishment reserved for a servant for daring to lay hands on a deputy consort and to cause physical harm to said consort?" "It....I - huangshu -" "What is the rule?" Lan Wangji knew very well that the punishment was death for any servant, maid or eunuch who dared to harm any member of the harem. But Wei Ying, his Wei Ying... "Wei Ying is very precious to Yanli and to Yunmeng-hou. As well..." Lan Wangji hesitated. "Yanli is with child again. It is still very early so we thought it best not to announce it lest we have a repeat of last time. It would not do to upset her at this time." Lan Qiren was extremely dissatisfied with his answer, but conceded for Jiang Yanli's sake. "I'm glad, Wangji, that you've found your way back to your proper companions. This Wei Wuxian clearly has been spoiled to the point of impropriety. His actions today are utterly unacceptable and cannot be allowed to go unpunished or else others would surely follow his example. Guards!" "Detain Wei Wuxian. Have him strung up on a post in the servants' courtyard and give him fifty lashes. No food nor drink. Sun or rain, he is not to be let down until dusk tomorrow." "Huangshu!" Lan Wangji's head buzzed, as though someone had struck him squarely in the temple. His chest felt tight, and his heart ached where it rebelled inside him. "Please -" "He has his life. That is mercy enough."
Wei Wuxian was stripped down to his trousers only and tied up to a post, his hands bound together above him and his bare feet never finding purchase on the ground no matter how he struggled. This fucking suck ass. Jin Ziyan you're a dead man. When all fifty lashes were dealt, even the guards were sweating through their robes. They left him dangling there in the blistering summer heat. A young maid dared to try and sneak him some water but was thwarted by an older momo. "What do you think you're doing, lassie? Did you not hear taishi, no food or drink until dusk tomorrow. Do you want lashes too? Go on! Go!" It rained hard all through the night, only easing up at dawn, but the aftermath of the storm left the air muggy and humid. Combined with the heat, it felt as though he was being steamed alive like a wheat bun. At some point during the second day, Wei Wuxian finally lost consciousness. He was not aware when Lan Wangji barged into the courtyard against Lan Qiren's explicit orders and cut him free.
Really tho, i just want this scene to happen (╹ڡ╹ ) "I'm sorry." Wei Wuxian blinked at Lan Wangji's hunched figure sitting at his bedside. "Whatever for? You saved me, dianxia." Lan Wangji, "But it was my attention that put you in such a position in the first place. Huangshu was looking for a reason to punish you since that day he saw us in my study." Wei Wuxian, "dianxia..." "I find you... lovely, Wei Ying," confessed Lan Wangji with a heavy sigh. His ears burned red not only with the embarrassment of a youth in love but with shame. "I wish for your company, even when you have no desire to be part of my harem. Now I know my mistake. I should have respected the boundaries. I should've known my attention on you would incite jealousy from the others, and as a servant, you have no means of protecting yourself. This is entirely my fault." Wei Wuxian's heart fluttered despite himself. He quickly shook his head. "No dianxia, please don't blame yourself -" Lan Wangji, "perhaps I should send you back to Jiang-fu; I'm sure Jiang-xiao-gongzi would be delighted to have your company back. You would be safe there." Jiang Wanyin had come to visit his sister the very next day after Wei Wuxian was sentenced to whipping. He was one of the most accomplishment young men of his generation, anticipated to be a great general. Nie Mingjue had thought highly of him and had expected great things from this youth. Though perhaps what the late feng-jun found truly commendable was Jiang Wanyin's complete lack of pretense and his short-fuse temper. That is to say, he did not hesitate to get in Lan Wangji's face. His sister would have chastised him, had she not been so preoccupied by her tears. Wei Wuxian, "Jiang...Jiang Cheng was here?" "He was, and he was very upset about your condition. He left many fine medicine and ointments for you." Lan Wangji sighed again. "I shall speak with Yanli. If she is amenable, then I shall make arrangements for you to go back to Jiang-fu. You would not have to put up with me any longer." Lan Wangji stood up. Wei Wuxian grasped his sleeve immediately. In that moment, he could not tell if his panic was derived from his worry that he would not be able to complete his assignment if Lan Wangji were to send him away or if he simply did not wish to part with the prince. "Dianxia - I - I don't want to leave. I - it's true I had once rejected you, but...would you think less of me if I said your attention … hasn't been unwanted for a while, that I have come to enjoy them." At Lan Wangji's widened eyes, Wei Wuxian continued quickly. "You need not give me anything, no elevation, no rank. I don't care about any of that. I am a man, I have no ability to give you children. Nor do I have any family who would benefit from your continued favour of me. I am an orphan, dianxia, I have no place to go. I just....don't send me away. Please let me stay! I'm not afraid of Jin Ziyan, or taishi, or anything!" Lan Wangji sat back down. His hand trembled when he laid it on top of Wei Wuxian's. "Wei Ying...?" Wei Wuxian smiled, still radiant despite his pale complexion. "Dianxia -" "Lan Zhan. No more dianxia, I only want to hear you call me by my name." Wei Wuxian flushed pink. The blush was real, as was the pleased little smile he tried to hide. "Lan Zhan, Wei Ying is yours, if you still want him." The worst part of that was that he meant it. Just the mere thought of being held by Lan Wangji, of being kissed by him, of... so many other wonderful possibilities, made Wei Wuxian want to hide his flaming face into his pillow. Lan Wangji smiled. Quietly, he lifted Wei Wuxian's hand and pressed a kiss to the inner side of his wrist. "Rest, I will be right here." Wei Wuxian felt his treacherous little heart soar: oh no … oh no no no no ….. (Xue Yang's voice in narration: and it was in this moment, that Wei Wuxian knew, he fucked up.) The cruellest thing Wei Wuxian ever did was give Lan Wangji hope knowing that one day he would take it all away.

Notable Stuff from Boueibu HAPPY KISS ep 2
Today, I watched this episode in my college. I viewed it, not on my laptop nor any android device. I turned on the projector in my classroom and played the episode movie-style. This will be my routine every Monday morning starting now.
I was correct. They weren’t using any censorship methods to hide their identities. Everyone knows everybody and there are no secrets.
This episode is more focused on the Student Council, so it’s only natural that they cut down the Defense Club’s screen-time. The following episodes will likely balance between the two groups now that both have been formally introduced.
Furanui actually explained the situation to the Student Council whereas the Defense Club are totally dumbfounded by the whole ‘fight for the throne’ thing going between Furanui and Karls.
Nanao seemed interested about Furanui’s motives at the beginning, but Furanui turned out to be the type to give overly-long sermons that bore everyone to death that even Nanao didn’t want to listen anymore.
Oddly enough, when the boys changed out of their costumes while Furanui explained everything, they were back in their school uniforms, even though they were originally in towels. The only other way they could have regained their clothes is if one of them ran back to the bathhouse and brought the clothes to the others, or Karls used teleportation magic to bring their clothes to them as an apology for exposing their naked bodies to the cold and also to avoid being skinned into a pelt.
Ichirou is acquainted with Martha, since he speaks quite familiarly with him. It’s probably because they’re the same class. Ichirou also warned Martha that he could slip and fall, which means he might see Martha as a friend, even though Martha easily treats him like a pest.
The current King of Honyala Land is a platypus, and Minister Wao is a lemur. Seeing as there is no queen, I’m taking a guess that the King gave birth to the princes themselves. Platypi lay eggs, so it sounds possible.
Minister Wao has yet to show himself in the human realm.
The King tends to end his sentences with ‘kamo’.
Tawarayama became the headmaster of Binan High. He was the most recent to retire since his photo is at the end, or he could be the current one.
In the Pretty Boy Contest poster, the guy in the center looked like Kakeru Kazami from Shounen Hollywood.
The first thing Furanui did upon entering the human realm was to eat a grasshopper, which he found delicious.
There were three things Furanui hated in this world: indolence, affectation, and deceit. He finished off his spiel about the world being to lazy with “Rise, Furanui! Strive, Furanui!”
Furanui quickly rushed to Kyoutarou when he thought he was dead, either out of worry or curiosity. He scurried down the wall on all fours. When he found out Kyoutarou was just sleeping, Furanui casually says he could slit his throat.
Kyoutarou has an aura of laziness that incapacitates any animal in vicinity, lulling them into a slumber with him. It is so powerful, not even Furanui can resist.
There’s some sort of connection between Kyoutarou and Ata. Kyoutarou had no qualms referring to Ata by his first name, and while Ata is angered by Kyoutarou’s lazy attitude, he never ordered him to call him ‘President’. Ryouma seems to know Ata, too, enough to use his first name.
Kyoutarou doesn’t let Ata call himself stupid, whether he’s being sarcastic or not. He keeps reminding him that he’s smart.
Ata tried to be insulting to Kyoutarou, probably to get the latter mad and attempt to prove himself, except that Kyoutarou already knew he’s a lazy good-for-nothing and has no need to state otherwise.
Ata has some sort of grudge about Kyoutarou doing something to him, but it doesn’t seem like it is because Kyoutarou left him behind or anything since they’re still interacting like normal. It sounds more like he was frustrated by his behavior. It’s possible that Ata eventually became sick of Kyoutarou’s character and wanted him to change, except Kyoutarou didn’t want to change and there wasn’t anything Ata could do about that, or at some point in the past, Ata was in trouble and Kyoutarou did nothing, which the former attributes to the latter’s sloth. This would explain Ata’s present attitude towards indolence.
Furanui is quite haughty. He believes Ata is perfect to be his knight, but considers him a lower being.
Furanui has been mistaken for a dog, a chihuahua, and a fox.
Ata was hardly frightened by Furanui, only shocked when he displayed magic. In fact, a ‘talking chihuahua’ didn’t seem like anything special to him.
Martha was enamored by Furanui’s adorable animal form at the beginning and tried to take a selfie with him, until Furanui snapped and kicked his face in the same way Hercules punched Hades.
For someone who likes baking treats, being fat is considered a terrible thing in Martha’s vocabulary.
In comparison, the Student Council actually had a choice to join. I mean, Ata was threatened, but that was mostly due to his insolence and he willingly consented afterwards. On the other hand, Taiju just went along with it because of Ata, and Martha, unsure at first, was ready to join once Furanui presented himself more grandly. Karls forced the Defense Club into becoming the Happy Kiss, but Furanui won the Student Council’s loyalty through charisma alone, minus Taiju who only participated because of Ata.
When Furanui changed to his human form, he did a somersault and showed off his butt.
It’s clear that the Defense Club could care less about the Edelstein’s world domination plan because, let’s face it, being under the Edelstein’s control could be no more different than having the Student Council run the school like normal, Taiju did very little to threaten them, and their idea of conquering Earth involves making weird monsters with weird powers that do weird things.
Kiyara Bentaro is a pun on Chara Bento.
In this episode, the type of fear being addressed is the fear of not getting to eat the food you love.
The monsters seem to have a theme of “If I can’t have this, neither can you!” and “We shall become the same!”
Despite already having the Happybraces, the boys are still required to kiss Karls’s hand before transforming. In this episode, they transformed for the a similar reason as the Battle Lovers during the Melon Monster episode. For the former, it was to increase their endurance against the monster’s attacks. For the latter, it was to increase their mountain-hiking abilities.
The Cutesy Lunch Monster would turn its victims into boxed lunches using a beam cannon. Strangely, his beam didn’t affect the Defence Club at all, besides hurting them physically to the point that Kyoutarou almost died. Maybe being Karls’s Knights provides some protection against the monsters created by Furanui’s Knights, as seen as Taishi didn’t go “Blorf!” when he was hit by the Voice-Changing Monster’s beam.
Ryouma always try to talk to the monsters, which usually seems to be the best option since they always listen to him. The Voice-Changing Monster easily explained his motive when asked, and the Cutesy Lunch Monster was almost convinced to step back when Ryouma told him his mother worked hard to make him his food.
Taiju is probably the cruelest character in the show, besides Kyoutarou. Even if it was to strengthen the monster, there was visible enjoyment when he revealed the soul-crushing truth to the monster. Taiju isn’t good at making scary threats like Kyoutarou, but he is very capable of dealing an emotional blow on people.
The Cutesy Lunch Monster’s mother makes cute bentos to show off online, and the monster interprets this as his mother only caring for her ego instead of her child’s welfare.
Actually, no one even made fun of the student for having a cute-looking bento. In fact, one of them was amazed.
This marks the first time a monster in the Boueibu series has ever taken a second form.
Ichirou probably watches a lot of anime. That’s why he’s so insistent that Kyoutarou, who had the color red, should act like a proper protagonist.
Kyoutarou never wanted to be a main character. Rather, he would be happier being a background character who is partly in the scene.
It wasn’t exactly a pep talk, but more of an advice when Kyoutarou told the student who was turned into a monster to just go make his own lunches if he doesn’t like his mother’s.
Additionally, the students, after reverting from monster form, actually snapped out of the trance induced by the finishing move.
As of now, Furanui has displayed the power to transform into a human, manipulate nature to do his bidding, and like Karls, lend his power to other humans and fly. Unlike Karls, he doesn’t need to blow kisses each time casts a spell, and simply summons some circles on the spot from his paws.
Karls’s also shows a new power, and that is to erase the memories of bystanders. Seeing as Furanui didn’t do that himself, it could mean either he didn’t have the power or he wants people to remember the horrible events which would strike fear in their souls.
Kyoutarou often falls asleep in hot baths and there’s only Ryouma to prevent him from drowning.
Karls loves hot baths, which seems to be something he cannot experience back in Honyala Land.
The first-years don’t understand why the club goes for group baths all the time. Ryouma simply answered, “It’s an old habit.” They don’t call it tradition, meaning it might be unrelated to the previous Defense Club, at least not directly.
When the shooting star appeared, Ryouma’s voice echoed when he called Kyoutarou’s name.
It might not seem like it, but the Defense Club literally fought two monsters in the span of a single day.

Mahou Shoujo Ore 5 | Yotsuiro Biyori 4 | Lupin III Pt 5 5 | Hinamatsuri 5 | BnHA 43 | Boueibu HK 5
Mahou Shoujo Ore 5
Hey hey hey, this is the second show I’ve seen ape Osomatsu-san this year. Seriously, no show is safe in a parody as a target for humour’s sake…Note Osomatsu-san is also by Pierrot, though, so they’re attacking themselves to some extent.
Now that they’ve pointed the Osomatsu-san reference though, I can’t believe I didn’t see the scarf colours last time! But…this is episode 5…
Oh, I kind of noticed it, but I’m probably too used to it since I watched the first season of Osomatsu-san – the blue lines are part of that show’s signature style.
Muscovado is apparently a substitute for sugar. It literally translates to “black sugar” though…
Sagami is…a former place in Japan…?
Tama River. I’m terrible at Japanese geography, so I don’t think you should be asking me about this…
Dang, apparently Pierrot is based in Mitaka, Tokyo so whatever joke I was chasing there fell flat.
Wow, they got really self-referential this episode…yikes.
So this is the rumoured Chiba-san? Uhh…
Oh my…I do not see the word “Japanimation” get much mileage at all these days, but I cringe every time I see it.
It’s Pokémon Go! Wow, that’s another level of meta for sure. My hopes for resolving all the stray plot threads while maintaining that wacky sense of humour (or however I phrased it) definitely went out the window…Notice the footage is dated April 24th 20X8, which is about a week before the episode went to air if the X actually hides “2018”.
Suginami. Apparently, Bones, Sunrise and other studios are stationed there…but Pierrot isn’t.
If there’s one thing I didn’t expect in MSO, it’s the fact this show became Shirobako in a sense. I still need to get around to Shirobako, by the way…
Ey, wait a second! Astral, you got your wish! We get to see…Fujimoto’s face!
Whoa! They went all out on the CGI fire effects! What is this show, Golden Kamuy?! (LOL)
Comichiya’s probably Comiket. The katakana (chi -> tsu, to -> ya) look kinda similar if mangled.
Dangit! I missed my mark on the guesswork again! Tokyo Big Sight isn’t in Suginami.
Basically, this is just a long road to admitting they couldn’t do a recap episode, but they don’t have enough content to pad this ep either. Ah, sweet revelations (sarcastic).
Is it just me, or does the bottom of Fujimoto (1)’s face look kind of like…Mohiro??? Wagh??? Update: No, the hair colour’s off.
The “on the train” technically says “on the NEXT train” (emphasis mine).
Wow, they namedropped Ishikawa (probably Kaito)! Ishikawa voices male!Saki, so it makes sense.
Oh my gosh, Mahoutsukai Watashi! What a bold move this show’s taken – it’s telling its own meta-narrative. Which means when I cover it for the collab post…it’ll be meta of meta…that’ll put my head in a spin for sure.
You can see Fujimoto and Sakuyo character designs if you pause for one scene (the one with “staff working from home”).
You can see the name Masayuki Ito (伊藤雅之) on that list with the downward arrows, but I don’t know what significance that name has unless they’re an animator or something...
Mensore is explained here.Basically it’s youkoso in Okinawan.
Jimami Tofu…isn’t tofu, as weird as that sounds. It’s an Okinawan-sponsored drama.
Well, at least this time I got a big epic battle (no matter how short it is). Nothing better than that!
They got Akira Ishida, Tomokazu Seki, Koichi Yamadera and some other guys to voice the Fujimotos this time. Notice there’s no crossover between the Osomatsu-san voices and the Fujimotos, which was probably intentional.
I thought there’d be a real Shinzo Chiba, but there doesn’t seem to be one…
There was a shot of Fujimoto (before the manager)! Wah! Was that there in previous episodes???
Every time people promise wardrobe malfunctions, they tend to…uh, deliver on that…
The Monokubo illustration this time is creepy…I like it!
Yotsuiro Biyori 4
Is this a zombie movie (LOL)?
Wow, Sui really loves cats, doesn’t…he…? (LOL)
Oh, so that weird zombie movie in medias res opening was actually one of those fakeouts…DN Angel’s anime did that, I remember…
Wow, they make Tokitaka so epic in this scene! A determined man is more handsome than one in an ordinary state, don’tcha think?
You can even see rice flying! Amazing! Tokitaka’s got such skill.
I am so spoilt for smol boys this season, between this and Boueibu HK…
Ooh! My eyes have been blessed with the hotness of Tokitaka!
There’s more chicken than usual this ep, eh?
Shiratama anmitsu.
I never thought we’d need a backstory for the resident cat, but okay. It was hilarious and fun while it lasted and now it’s almost over…huh.
Denzou? Eh? (I kinda get why the name’s badass with the kanji involved, but it’s hard to explain to a non-Japanese speaker…)
Agedama.
The next ep title translates to roughly “A Loving Hand for the Lost Lamb”…as in, to extend a hand to it.
Lupin 3 Pt 5 5
Okay, part 5 episode 5 is confusing when it’s just “5 5”, isn’t it?
I think the guy in the green jacket will be important later…? He’s in a key visual for this show, at least.
“This pasta called soba’s pretty good!” – LOL, soba ain’t pasta, y’know…
I’ve learnt about the stack before. Here you go.
IP camera. Hey, I’ve done something on IP cameras before, but normally Detective Conan (and most other mystery shows of the modern day) seem to be reliant on CCTV…
Chicken game…? Sounds tasty!...Not.
Ami doesn’t seem too pleased about all the shooting, LOL.
Even Ami knows bowing is a sign of Japanese respect. Just like how dragons understand the meaning of “Hatori Chise” involves birds…(i.e. I’m kind of skeptical that a real French girl would learn to bow to her Japanese friends when her life is always on the line, a la Ami.)
Episode…1? Y’mean, there’s more adventures, but no Ami? Aw, I was enjoying having her in the fray.
Hinamatsuri 5
A TV? $30??? Wow, I would fight a psychic girl for that! That’s friggin’ cheap!
“Toshibu” (sic), LOL.
Bikkuri means “surprise”, LOL.
“A teacher and a student walk into a bar…” – it sounds like a joke. Not that that could be conveyed accurately in Japanese, though. The fact it even works as an English joke must be a coincidence…
Hitomi’s such a terrible liar! Wahaha!
Nitta’s just like “I’ve given up on this girl”. Either that, or he has a hangover…(LOL)
Sayo looks kind of like Hina. If it weren’t for the hair colours I would’ve mistaken the two.
BnHA 43
Carrying a gun to a fistfight…yep, bad. Plain bad, Mustard, ol’ boy.
Sorry, there was a lot of fighting this ep and nothing much to say!
Boueibu HK 5
LOL, the bald bodyguard…he looks kinda grumpy.
Notice Kyotaro goes “ore kyoumi nai” (I have no interest in it), but the subs missed the subject of the sentence! CR, you weirdoes!
Echire butter…exists!
“You know about genetic testing?” - Irina! I think this is your department!
Ryoma’s the end of the evolutionary line!
Hmm…if there was no Ice Age in Honyara Land…might there have been something else that caused the Furanui/Karurusu conflict? There’s only animosity from one side, after all.
Bunbuku Chagama. Magozaemon was fat, so he would make a perfect teapot/tanuki…
Wait, if Maasa = Ichiro in the age department (roughly 16), that would add up. He went abroad for 4 years and held off on carbs the entire time…yikes.
“The people of this world envy those who represent the opposite of what they fear for themselves, so they criticise and attack them.” – Ooh, Ata makes a lot of sense here…! It’s a quote for the collection.
Asobukoto = It’s not really “fun” per se, but “playing” or “hanging out”. That is, if you translate rather literally.
They’re all underage (roughly 16 – 18), of course they wouldn’t drink! Of course, this is coming from a person who doesn’t drink…the only samples of alcohol I’ve had are few and far in between…
Hey, I studied this stuff in the past, you don’t have to regurgitate this info (about needing food to better absorb alcohol). Lemmee tell you, alcohol ads are weird…
They didn’t make the “glasses fogging up” a weird plot hole. Phew.
Wow, to think I’d be getting a science lesson of things I already know in my Boueibu…I never thought I’d see the day where that happened.
According to this page, one of the things the ramen shop serves is gomoku soba. Wait…that’s right! Ramen’s appeared in this show before! In the Chri-pa episode! Sorry Astral, I gotta spoil s2 for you!
Wow, this chicken carcass is even less of a threat than anything else so far! Wow-hee.
Taishi only seems vaguely fazed about the fact he’s being made to fight monsters. Interesting. I never think about the perspective of the non-red boys regarding fighting monsters until they’re pointed out, really.
So wait, the magic knight of space…makes bubbles? Uh, Astral, you might wanna learn from this…?
Hey hey, I found a page on tonkotsu ramens (sic from the Hakata anime) and paitan ramen.
Kyotaro on stairs = basically my mood when I want to imitate the “draw me like one of yor French girls” meme. (Very badly.)
So…when I said I missed individualised attacks, I never saw this coming. Sorry about that, people. (Even if that was only Ichiro’s bubble attack.)
Kyotaro makes a lot of sense here. But seriously, I think I need Astral’s easy button right now. That was easy.
Notice Karurusu is acting as a pelt…weren’t otters hunted for their pelts?
Oh, Sujikawa’s a first year, huh?
*Sujikawa picks up the boulder* - *round of applause from me* Wow!
Both Maasa and Dougo have such supportive friends, it almost makes me jealous.
The English! It’s…correct! (thinks back to a magazine article with “Difence” (sic) written on it in pink letters)
I, for one, am happy they’re tackling relationships aside from “brothers” this time. Finally, here’s something that stacks up against its competition in regards to deeper themes, even if it is a comedy!
Dougo and Maasa (Magozaemon) were in class 2, if you pause at the right time. Notably, the members of class 2 were all boys, LOL. Even with the boy to the left of Magozaemon, I think that name might be pronounced “Ai” (due to this page), but it’s in manly kanji.

In Your Dreams Tonight - Chapter 3 – Fate and Love
Prologue 1 Prologue 2 Prologue 3
Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 4
“So,” Kiyonori stepped forward, eyeing the four young boys in front of him, “are you boys ready to start?”
Before they could answer, the door slide open, Kan walked in. “Hey Neisui!” then she noticed the presence of other, gave a slight node to Kiyonori, “sorry to interrupt Sensei Taishi, but Neisui, your cousin Koichi is here looking for you.”
Huh? Koichi? What is he doing here? No why does he come here? Did something happen? Neisui dropped her wooden sword onto the ground, and looked passed through Kan. Behind her indeed standing her cousin, who is wearing a business suit, eyes on her.
“Neisui, I’m here to take you home,” he said.
“But I could go home by myself Koichi, don’t need to worry about me. It’s rare you are off so early from work, you should go home and spend more time with Nia.”
“Hmph,” was his reply, “that’s why I’m here. I decide we are going to eat dinner together tonight, all of us. There’s something I would like to say over dinner table, and I wish you to be present.”
Hearing this, Neisui had all her attention on him now. She knew her cousin does not like to talk while eating, since they were young, or at least since she was old enough to remember such details. Sometimes he would give a few sentences but that’s pretty much it, and it’s not done because he wants to enjoy food in silence, but it’s more avoiding the talk. He does not like his life discussed, especially over dining table. So whatever reason made him says this now must be really big, is it about her cousin-in-law Nia? Are they now getting back together?
Neisui gave a nod, “of course, I’m coming.” She grabbed her bag and bowed to Kiyonori, “sorry sensei I afraid I must cut my practice time short, we will continue this next time. I’m sure you would have fun teaching our newest members. Right?” she gave a playful wink as she passed through them and out the door.
“See you tomorrow Kan! Bye Sensei! Bye Toramatsu and everyone!!”
*** *** ***
Half the dinner progressed in almost complete silence, despite the fact that there were few more dishes on the table than usual when Neisui texted Nia about having dinner together and Koichi wants to discuss something over dinner.
Feeling mad, Neisui gave someone a kick underneath the table. When Koichi turned his gaze from the rice in his bowl to look at her, she gave him a meaningful look. Who was the one who said want to talk over dinner? Who was the one actually made the effort of going to school to fetch her so she can be present when he talk?! Neisui wanted to break the silence but tonight it should be focus on them, not her.
Finally, after finishing the eggplants on his plate, he cleared his throat. Neisui was just starting to feeling relieved until she heard him called her name. “So Neisui, who was that boy? Toramatsu? Is he the boy who gave you that scarf?”
Wait, what, why is Koichi suddenly talking about him? Why is he suddenly talking about her? That’s not what’s supposed on today’s topic right? And since they are living together and her cousin did see her wearing that red scarf when she just came back from Kyoto field trip, but how does he know it’s him?
“Koichi, why these questions all of a sudden? And…how do you know all that?”
“I don’t,” he shrugged, then crossed his arms. “You may not have noticed, but I saw how he looks at you, and his gaze followed you out the door. And how you said goodbye to your friend or teacher but then only that boy’s name was out from your lips.”
“…”
“And I saw the name on the scarf, a simple ‘Li’ was woven on it.”
“That still does not explain…”
“Remember the nights when I slept in your room on the floor?” Neisui held her breath, looking at him, waiting for the answer. “You don’t snore, but you do talk in your dreams sometimes. Something about Li Toramatsu, or rather, Li Naomasa.”
Neisui was now speechless, just how much secrets did she already gave away when she sleeping? But still, why talking about her now? Of all dinner talks that could happen? In front of Nia?”
“Sigh, I admit all those…but then I’m still confused. This classmate of mine and that samurai in my dream may very well be connected or maybe even reincarnation, but they are still two separate people. Aren’t they? Do you believe in reincarnation Koichi? Or perhaps in fate? Is it fateful that I have all these dreams of Li Naomasa while meeting this Toramatsu around the same time? Sometimes…at the time we met in Kyoto and today, somehow I feel so familiar with him yet still some distance. I can’t really describe the feeling. But somehow is that familiar feeling, or memory at that time that I accepted the scarf before I could further think to it.”
“Listen Neisui, and Nia,” he finally mentioned the name that was supposed to be brought up long ago. His look suddenly very serious, even his tone is lowered. “Neisui, I’m not sure of fate or reincarnation stuff, but you do feel for them right? They might be different, but to you they are also one. You have always liked fairytales since you were young, or about books that talk of fantasy stuff. Of all the story books I’ve read you before, there was this line, that I one day suddenly remember about it and went back for a reread.”
“And what is that?” Neisui wondered.
“Lives are hard enough with Gods meddling in it, but they do meddle.” Neisui gave him a complete silence, but she does remember this line. It’s about a God laying a wager with humans, the so-called conditions of game is also betting on human’s hearts. “Things happen, and you may decide how you react, but you can’t decide how you feel. And then, when things piled up of various causes and reasons, humans call it fate. Not because they are already written and decided by Gods, but that’s how our hearts lead to it.”
So her and Toramatsu, should she call it a fate now? But they have only just met and started. So it all now depends on how they, or rather how she reacts to him. She hasn’t given an answer yet.
“And Nia,” Koichi’s voice cut her thought, “do you know why I chose you to be my wife?”
“Because,” Nia finally talked, “because of my abilities, background, and the potential behind that could assist with you for a better career?”
He shook his head, “that might be a reason I be looking for if I were to matchmaking with other women, but with you, he paused,” his eyes all on her, “I thought that with you…I might be able to love you. It had nothing to do with any requisites. I thought that if someone had attracted me that much at that age…maybe I could love her. Maybe I could be attracted to you and not need a reason.”
“Koichi…” Nia whispered his name.
“Though our marriage earlier had not turned out the way I thought it would be, or part of me was still denying myself by having affair with Ai, but since that incident happened and we got more spending time together. You refused my talk of divorce and still took me as I am…at some point, I fell in love with you. Though you have already told me we would work through this together, I want to hear your answer again now, not as a husband who had failed his wife, but as a man who is in love with her.” Koichi suddenly got on his knees, eyes wavering between Nia and the floor.
Nia got up from chair and also knelt on the floor, to the same level as him and hugged him, “of course I do you silly goose. You know how my answer is. Though we may have not married for love, but at that day when we first met before lunch, you knelt down used your handkerchief for my broken heel of shoes so I could walk in comfort, or how you didn’t mind how I was barefoot running on the streets trying not to be late, or how you consoled the little crying boy about his ice-cream, I thought right at that moment I could learn to love you too. I believe we could actually make a happy family , and that belief goes on even now.”
“Nia,” his voice suddenly hoarse, took a small box out of his pocket, it’s a ring, though it’s not a lavish one. He puts it on her, “this ring might be little bit plain comparing to the diamond or those jewel rings, but I have it carved specially for you.”
The ring reads Nia Noa on the top, and inside it reads Nia My Love. This ring has your name on it. You are a designer for architect, and our language is truly beautiful. No is a positive article, and a means love and affection. So this is my love for you. You know I am not a romantic person and this is as romantic as I could get.”
“This is wonderful, Koichi,” Nia now has tears in her eyes, “thank you, thank you for accepting me to be your wife.” She now hugs him.
“Silly,” his fingers gently traces her hair, “I should be the one to say it.”
Neisui, watching the scene in front of her, she is so happy for them. But perhaps they are forgetting they have an audience? She shouldn’t interrupt them. She decided to go back to the room and should start packing and move out soon. She certainly doesn’t want to be a lightbulb now.
(Tagging who I have tagged before, some I forgot for previous chapter. This chapter is mainly based on Koichi from In Your Arms Tonight. And….I have no shame using my twitter name as character @nianoa but it works well? xP)

Ryusei Post Office
from Ryusei-go Radio Station DJCD with Murata Taishi (Shino) and Saito Souma (Yamagi)
I’m so sorry for the wait, it’s finally here! This is the mail part of the radio CD. The topics they talk about include: eps 45 & 46, Yamagi’s feelings, Shino’s feelings, Yamagi’s butt, the famous next episode previews, and more! It’s long but it’s really interesting.
Also, since radio is pretty difficult to translate, please excuse any awkward sentences!
You can find the translation of the same CD’s Ryusei Letter here.

Both: Ryusei-go Radio Station!
Murata: Hello everyone! From the TV anime Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-blooded Orphans, voicing Norba Shino, I’m Murata Taishi!
Souma: And, hello everyone! Voicing Yamagi Gilmerton, I’m Saito Souma!
Murata: Yes! This CD is… not! Mobile Suit Gundam IBO’s radio show, Tekkadan Radio Station, but Ryusei-go Radio Station, with the Tekkadan members Shino and Yamagi! Yaaaay!!
Both: Yaaaay!!!
Souma: Shino…!!
Murata: Yamagi…
Souma: *laughs*
Murata: Yamagi…
Souma: No no no, it wasn’t that rough…
Murata: Yeah it wasn’t like that…
Souma: *rough voice* Yamagi…
Murata: *laughs*
Souma: Well then! Shino came back to us.
Murata: Right! Of course, if it’s not these two…
Souma: That’s right! Last time we already appeared as guests in Tetsuradi’s radio CD volume 5… we did many things already, but apparently that was really popular…
Murata: It was? Thank you very much~
Souma: And that’s why this time, thanks to everyone’s passionate requests, we got to release this Ryusei-go Radio Station CD as an individual CD!!!
Murata: We did??? We are releasing it???
Souma: We’re releasing it!!
Murata: We released it~ Thank you very much!!
Souma: That’s right~
Murata: For real?
Souma: Last time, the other two (Kawanishi and Terasaki) were hosts and we were there as guest.
Murata: Yes yes yes.
Souma: But this time it’s just the two of us.
Murata: That’s right, it’s really just the two of us doing this. Is this fine? Can we? Thank you~
Souma: The anime already ended, and a lot of things happened.
Murata: A lot of things happened!
Souma: So we can look back on everything that happened, and I think we also got a lot of mails from everyone, so while reading those mails too…
Murata: But I was really surprised, when episode 45 ended and I looked at twitter, I was like “eh?! We’re doing it!?”
Both: *laughs*
Souma: That’s true! I didn’t know anything at all either.
Murata: When I was thinking about what to write on twitter, in that moment I saw that on my timeline and it was like “eh what wait there’s too much info!!”
Souma: *laughs*
Murata: It was really something amazing.
Souma: This is the age where you know things through SNS.
Murata: Yes it is.
Souma: Well then, let’s get started! Ryusei-go Radio Station!
Both: “The sustenance of life is on the radio!”*
Both: Ryusei-go Radio Station!
Murata: Ryusei-go Radio Station! First we start with this corner:
Both: Ryusei-go post office!
Murata: In this corner we introduce mails we got from the listeners.
Souma: The listeners’ corner, right?
Murata: Yes, that’s it. Apparently we got a HUGE amount of mails.
Souma: It seems we got a lot!
Murata: A looooot.
Souma: But a looooooooooot.
Murata: Yep.
Souma: I’m so happy!
Murata: Right.
Souma: I’m really thankful. Then let’s read them non-stop.
Murata: Then, first. Pen name: Saramu! Saramu-san? Thank you very much.
Souma: Thank you.
Murata: “Murata-san, Saito-san, hello!”
Souma: Hello.
Murata: “I love Shino and Yamagi-kun so much so when I heard they were going to release Ryusei-go Radio Station I got SUPER excited!”
Souma: SUPER excited? Thank you very much.
Murata: “I REALLY LOVE Shino and Yamagi-kun’s relationship, so when Shino… passed away… in the anime I was really shocked. I think this is going to drag for like three years.”
Souma: *laughs* That’s a lot!
Murata: It is!
Souma: It’s a lot…
Murata: “When you two acted that scene, what were your feelings? I’d love to hear that.”
Souma: Saramu-san is going to drag this until like the Tokyo Olympics…
Murata: It’s a really long span… Is her heart going to last? Is she going to be okay?
Souma: Well, we kind of… vaguely… were ready for it, right?
Murata: Of course, it’s a show where you don’t know when you’ll die, Gundam.
Souma: But how was it when you actually read the script?
Murata: When I actually read it… you know, that thing. In this show, there’s a cast list.
Souma: There is.
Murata: We got that cast list first, and there’s written like, how much you talk this week? The word count.
Souma: Yes.
Murata: If it was like always, Yamagi wouldn’t have too many, and Shino quite a lot. But in this week, it goes up suddenly…
Souma: The sentence count shoot up. *laughs*
Murata: It really did. *laughs*
Souma: “Ah, something will happen” I thought, honestly.
Murata: You’d guess that, yeah. And in addition, after the recording of episode 44, the sound director was grinning…
Both: *laughs*
Souma: He was indeed grinning.
Murata: Yeah. I thought, “his smile is kiiiiind of different than usual”. And this was the result.
Souma: You know… When I was checking the script the day before, it was so painful… well… There’s a Tekkadan SNS group, right?
Murata: There is.
Souma: I usually don’t say anything in that group…
Murata: That’s true! In that… account?
Souma: Yeah it’s an account… and Hosoya-san, before I started checking it he sent a “Yamagiii…” and I thought “eeh??? Me???” but no! It was Shino!
Murata: That was totally misleading.
Souma: It was. But seriously it was so painful, I sent “I can’t finish checking this”…
Murata: Right.
Souma: It was so shocking… but Shino’s yell in the real take was really a yell from his soul.
Murata: It was… Well, it’s the moment when he goes so I thought I had to put it all there, but I put so much I ended up lacking oxygen.
Souma: It was really cool. Rather than cool, it was like “ah, this is really what feelings are”.
Murata: Right, it wasn’t something beautiful… I put it out of my whole body.
Souma: Amazing…
Murata: But after that, the yell went on so long, and Souma-kun voiced his reaction after I finished, so it wouldn’t overlap.
Souma: Of course, I couldn’t overlap such a wonderful scream.
Murata: In this anime they tend to use test takes a lot.
Souma: Yep they tend to use the initial impulse.
Murata: There are times where the test take is better.
Souma: There are!
Murata: It’s the established practice so maybe this time they used the test take.
Souma: But you know, we did this together for a year, and precisely because of that, I knew “Ah, Murata-san will put out all his feelings, so I’ll listen and wait”. Well, you can’t react if you don’t listen.
Murata: That’s right.
Souma: That’s why, I had a lot of fun too. It’s kind of nice that it’s so natural. It’s not like I’m doing an effort.
Murata: It’s not like you’re attending to me.
Souma: It’s like “ah, so it’s like that, okay”. It was a weird feeling, it was painful but it was fun.
Murata: You’re right! As actors, we feel that a lot. Those kind of interactions feel good, but at the same time, the scene itself is a bit…
Souma: Yeah. Let’s go to the next message then. We got this one from Mei-san. Thank you very much. “Murata-san, Saito-san, nice to meet you!”
Murata: Nice to meet you.
Souma: “Yamagi, who supports Shino and the other pilots as the maintenance crew. I’ve been supporting him since the first season, so in episode 46 I was filled by a lot of emotions and cried out loud. So Murata-san, Saito-san, do you have any scene where you cried that has remained in your heart?”
Souma: This is… difficult… there are a lot.
Shino: Right… and when we arrived to 45, that was…
Souma: I cried at home with that, and aside from our scenes, there are a lot… For example, Naze…
Murata: Naze-san, right…
Souma: Naze’s scene was…
Murata: With Amida-san, together…
Souma: That was painful…
Murata: It really was. And at the same time, those feelings towards that boss, like “That goddamn guy!”
Souma: RIGHT! That guy!!
Murata: He’s really helping with the plot!
Souma: No, really…
Murata: Souma-kun, are you crying?!
Souma: I’m fine! I’m fine, I’m fine.
Murata: Feelings overflow.
Souma: There are a lot of scenes, and you make new discoveries if you look back.
Murata: Everyone, please watch it again after a while.
Souma: Yes!
Murata: Then, I’ll read the next one. Pen name: Sudachi-san.
Souma: Ah, sudachi is delicious.
Murata: Right. “I started watching from season 2, and in episodes 45 and 46 Shino and Yamagi’s relationship and feelings were described, and paired up with your passionate acting, it made me cry a lot. Honestly, I was a bit surprised Shino had realized about Yamagi’s feelings, so now I’m watching season 1 again and thinking where did he realize. Is there any moment where you two think that he might have realized?”
Souma: Ah… I… Yamagi thought Shino hadn’t noticed.
Murata: That’s right.
Souma: That’s why with episode 46, I was like “Eh?!”
Murata: The shocking truth.
Souma: The thing is, if Eugene knew, that means Yamagi’s feelings are super obvious.
Murata: *laughs* Right!
Souma: He even said “You just now figured that out?”
Murata: Yeah, Eugene said that.
Souma: So, what do you think? About Shino. I guess it’s difficult to say, though.
Murata: Right. Um, I think in season 1 he hasn’t realized yet.
Souma: Right.
Murata: You know, Shino is very tolerant, so he accepts everything, in the good sense and in the bad sense. That’s why, since they were together a lot even in season 1… hm… I wonder where…
Souma: But pinpointing it exactly is a bit difficult…
Murata: There wasn’t any moment where it was pictured directly… but you know, the last moment of season 1 was amazing. Souma-kun’s “Shino!!!”
Souma: Shino!!!
Murata: He was so worried. And if you think he was taking care of the Ryusei-go as the maintenance crew too… I think it was progressively.
Souma: Ah, I see. It’s not something that happens suddenly one day. But you know, what I think is amazing is… in episode 45, in the recording, it felt like Shino hadn’t noticed Yamagi’s feelings at all, but when I watched it airing and I saw Shino’s face, and the way he combed Yamagi’s hair saying “let’s drink the two of us someday”, I was like “wait?”
Murata: Right.
Souma: I thought, “this guy is showing his manhood”
Both: *laugh*
Murata: Like, he’s attacking now.
Souma: He’s Shino-san now.
Murata: *laughs*
Souma: I thought that. I think it’d be nice if everyone thinks about it and comes to their own conclusion. But really, it makes you curious…
Murata: Right!
Souma: Shino is really cool… No, but he became very cool! He was cool at first too though.
Murata: He became more like an adult.
Souma: Yes, that’s it. Also, he was no match for Zack-san.
Murata: What was that?! What happened?!
Souma: *laughs* I’m really curious about that.
Murata: He was desperately hiding it.
Souma: Okay, so here, from Hanya-san. Thank you very much. “Murata-san, let me ask you something!”
Murata: Sure!
Souma: “When I read Murata-san’s words in interviews and events, I felt a lot of love not only towards your own character, Shino, but for Yamagi too.”
Murata: *laughs*
Souma: “What do you like about Yamagi?”
Murata: Wait, wait wait.
Souma: “Saito-san answered what he liked about Shino in another radio episode, so please, Murata-san, answer it too.”
Murata: Hmm, I see. Me personally, you mean.
Souma: Murata-san himself, yes.
Murata: About if I’m pouring too much love into Yamagi.
Souma: It was a message about that, yes.
Murata: *laughs* That’s, well…
Souma: This is turning into the same development as the last time we went to the radio. Well, so how is it? As a personal opinion.
Murata: Personally, as Murata Taishi, he’s very brave, after all. He’s not like “look how much I’m doing for you”.
Souma: That’s true.
Murata: He’s modest, let’s say. He’s very pure, the purest Japanese. And that’s how I want him to stay, personally. He’s like, hmm, stepping back? It’s not too good though, this is an age where woman also are stepping forward, but he’s like supporting from behind.
Souma: I see.
Murata: He’s a boy though.
Souma: *laughs* Well, well.
Murata: Well, well, well.
Souma: But you know, until the end, there was a theory that Yamagi was actually a girl, between the viewers.
Murata: Eh? Really? There was?
Souma: And I was like “Eh? Then, me…?”
Both: *laugh*
Murata: “I was casted, but…”
Souma: Like, “Could it be I was voicing a woman?”
Murata: Now that you mention it, his silhouette when he was looking at the Flauros was… very… you know… like a girl.
Souma: Um, his butt…
Murata: Yes!!!
Souma: His butt looked so… soft…
Murata: It did.
Souma: Right.
Murata: Right.
Souma: What does it mean?
Murata: Sunrise-san, what is this??
Both: *laugh*
Murata: Well, it was very nicely drawn.
Souma: In Orphans, you know, there are Yamagi’s feelings towards Shino, and also the Turbines people. There are many shapes of love.
Murata: There are.
Souma: There are no prejudices or discrimination, it’s just “this is how it is”, they’re written completely normally, and it’s amazing.
Murata: This is also why it became popular, too.
Souma: Definitely.
Murata: Well, let’s go to the next one. Pen name: Suzu Castella-san.
Souma: Thank you very much.
Murata: “Yamagi liked Shino, right?” Eh…? What kind of beginning is this? (this doesn’t make sense in english, but the way he read it in japanese sounded ambiguous)
Souma: Ah, that Yamagi…
Murata: …liked Shino.
Souma: It sounded like “I like Yamagi/Shino, right?” or something, well I’m sure there are people who like it.
Murata: Right. Well, could be. “I thought that might be the case, but I was really surprised to hear it directly from Shino’s mouth. And then, after knowing this, I thought Yamagi would’ve liked to talk more with Shino. So here, a question: what do you think Shino would say if he had survived and they had fulfilled the promise of drinking together?”
Souma: What would…
Murata: Yep! They made a promise, after all.
Souma: But you know, I don’t think Yamagi would dare to get to the core of it.
Murata: Right, that’s…
Souma: Because if he did, you’d think “then what was that from episode 45…” Everything until episode 45, I mean.
Murata: Right, his hidden feelings.
Souma: But Shino would probably interact with him like always.
Murata: You’re right. He wouldn’t do anything dangerous.
Souma: No, but you know, Shino always says “let’s go to a place with lots of pretty girls”, but if he were drinking seriously with Yamagi, he would never ever say that.
Murata: Yep yep.
Souma: But in the first season he would have. At the beginning of the first season, for better or for worse, he had no delicacy.
Murata: Right *laughs*
Souma: Episode 45’s Shino would never say it.
Murata: It’s like a push and pull. But this is something I’m really curious about.
Souma: Right! I know it’s beautiful precisely because it’s not shown, but still… we want to see it too!
Murata: Right.
Souma: Even if it’s an “if” series.
Murata: An “if” series, or a spin-off. So, Sunrise-san, please…
Souma: Well, for now, we need everyone to buy it.
Both: *laugh*
Souma: Okay, next, from Hitomi-san. Thank you. “Souma-kun, Murata Taishi-san, welcome back, Ryusei-go!”
Murata: *laughs* I’m back. I know I can’t say it with my own name, though.
Souma: He’s Murata Taishi now.
Murata: Yes I am.
Souma: “The previews for the second season were the seiyuu’s ad-libs, and Murata-san’s “I will definitely protect you” and “Or I should carry you in my arms like a princess” were very shocking. It didn’t say who was it directed to, but I was convinced it was to Yamagi. I thought Murata-san joked about the “carry like a princess” but surprisingly Yamagi appeared like that in the following episode”.
Both: *laugh*
Souma: “That’s our Murata-san. Please tell us about the details on how this ad-lib was born.”
Murata: The details?
Souma: You just did a proper preview, right?
Murata: Yep. It was like a complementation. Suddenly Yamagi was dragged into the cockpit, and Shino was like “my bad”. But the process until then wasn’t shown, so I thought, why not do it in the preview. It was on my own though, without asking the writer or anything *laughs*
Souma: No, but that’s their fault for letting us improvise.
Murata: Right! I was so surprised!
Souma: Because it was written like, “Next on Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans, subtitle, from now on ad-lib”
Murata: Who came up with this, seriously?!
Souma: Right. But honestly, I was glad, actually.
Murata: *laughs* I see.
Souma: And people called me the “preview performer”, you know.
Murata: *laughs*
Souma: But really, that “ta-da da da! … Idiot” was amazing.
Murata: That was so good. It felt like an answer. We won’t say who, though.
Souma: He’s only saying that “should I carry you like a princess”.
Murata: Right. I’ll say this because I can say it now, but I thought really hard about it for a whole week!
Souma: Yes!! Because that’s like a call up notice!
Murata: Right!!
Souma: Like “Uwah, I’m neeext?!”
Murata: Yes!! It’s like going to the battlefield.
Souma: Because if I think of one and then I get told “no, another one would be better”…
Murata: It happens.
Souma: If I don’t bring like three or four patterns I get very anxious!
Murata: Right!!! The one just for laughs and the serious one.
Souma: Let’s say the one just for laughs first, and if it goes through then great, if not “ah, then I’ll do the safer one”
Murata: Yeah yeah. We’re going to the limit. We thought about them like script writers though.
Souma: We do things just for laughs, but seriously. That’s important.
Murata: Yep. Thank you everyone for the mails. And that’s all for Ryusei Post office!
TL note: “The sustenance of life is on the radio!” is a reference to the show’s catchphrase “The sustenance of life is on the battlefield”. They say it in the radio show every time.
And for those interested, here’s a few news!
First of all, Ryusei-go Radio Station CD 2 has been announced!!! The first CD was super popular so we got a sequel. It will be included in a special 2-disc CD which also will include a radio CD of the Earth Branch with Mika (Kawanishi Kengo), Takaki (Amasaki Kouhei), Chad (Ishiya Haruki) and Aston (Kumagai Kentaro)
Tekkadan Radio Station ended a few weeks after the anime, but now it’s got a revival and it airs once a month with Kawanishi and a monthly personality. July’s is Yamagi (Saito Souma). You can listen to it from July 30th onwards here (it’s region locked though)
New Gundam IBO T-shirts will be released soon. The characters they’re based on are Mika Orga, Eugene, Akihiro, Shino, and Yamagi!! It’s really amazing how Yamagi’s become important enough to be in the same level as the main characters. That’s thanks to the fans’ love for sure.
The staff ran a poll some time ago to decide which Tekkadan characters would get an image perfume. The winners were Orga and Shino (Murata Taishi was wearing Shino’s today), and apparently Yamagi and Mika were 3rd and 4th respectively, so they’re getting one too. Again, Yamagi is amazing.
Aaaand that’s all! I hope you enjoyed it, and I recommend 100% buying this radio CD because the quiz part was super fun too. Feel free to send me any comments/messages about it, I’d be really happy!
Thanks for reading!!
