Check out this monster Russian tank of a lens. The Tair 11A 135mm F2.8 Lens. I recommend this and the #Pentacon 135mm F2.8 with 15 aperture blades. The #Tair11A has 20! They are #BokehMonsters! ;)

m42 lenses, russian and otherwise

over the last few days i decided to go for yet another little photo gear-indulgence: lenses with m42 mount. the plan is to use adapters for canon ef (and maybe also canon fd) - and possibly to get an m42 camera to play with as well.

m42 lenses kept coming up in my reading on old lenses - the meyer goerlitz 100mm trioplan gets a lot of attention (but i've decided that for now i find it too expensive, considering it's apparently really only good for that one very specific "circles-and-blur" look).

the other lens i've been very curious about is the helios 40-2 85mm f/1.5 (which goes for relatively sane prices on ebay). so yesterday i finally bid on one of those and hope to receive it sometime later this week :)

my plan is to idly keep an eye out for copies of the Zenitar MC 2.8/16mm fisheye - and i'm a little curious about the Tair-11A 135mm/2.8, but am undecided if that would be interesting enough to warrant a purchase.
