soooo has anyone thought of a mdzs x svsss transmigration au with shen jiu and meng yao?
i’m not going into detail over their similarities but most people get the idea— brothels, yqy/lxc, spite, villainous antagonists that didn’t deserve what they were put through as a child, late start in cultivation, cunning personality, etc etc
yea.
let me start: shen jiu, one day, is gifted a high quality book set from one of his brothel jiejies when visiting them. at first, shen jiu had no plans to legitimately read them (mostly due to a lack of leisure time), but he eventually got to reading it when he was on a qian cao-mandated break after a qi deviation.
he gets hooked. when SJ is nearing the end of the novel, his thoughts are as followed: JGS deserved to get castrated and his limbs thrown to the endless abyss— WWX, although he was absolutely shameless, he was at least competent— LWJ was a fool for being so in love, but he was moral and loyal— and lan xichen…
an ache forms in shen jiu’s heart whenever he thinks about him. lxc, a man with a gentle, pacifistic, amiable personality who believed in what was right all the way until the end. he wholeheartedly supported and trusted his sworn brother, jin guangyao, until he couldn’t anymore.
shen jiu was touched. lan xichen, that man, had wasted all his efforts on an irredeemable monster. in a similar fashion, yue qingyuan was doing the same.
as for meng yao… shen jiu resented him. he had a loving mother, one who worked so hard for his happiness, only to squander all her efforts. meng yao… had what shen jiu envied the most in the newest disciple he just brought in. luo binghe. imo, it would be a clear sign of shen jiu’s self hatred projected onto meng yao. he sees the two of them as the hopeless scum of society, too broken to be loved. they were “charity cases” that couldn’t be fixed, no matter what.
soon after shen jiu finishes the novel, he falls into a qi deviation (the very same one that shen yuan transmigrated into) and dies. through some time space dimension jumping, shen jiu lands into the body of one 14 yo meng yao. and that’s just the beginning of his story.
shen jiu starts out by practicing cultivation in secret. meng yao’s body, although he is no prodigy, would definitely benefit from practicing from a younger age. then he gets to planning. with how shen jiu is, he would not step a foot in the karp tower, with a system or not. like, just no. i believe he’d set JGS on fire if he ever had to see the guy. the only plot point shen jiu intends on fulfilling is saving lan xichen, and then living a comfortable life away from the jianghu.
but within a year of living with meng shi in the brothel, shen jiu grows attached to her. he *wants* to make her proud, even if he wasn’t her real son. he was a total impostor. but even so, he didn’t want her legacy to be tainted by the actions of jin guangyao— who was now still meng yao, who is now shen jiu. but he doesn’t want to go to the jin sect. after an arduous process of actual communication with someone for a long time, meng shi realizes that the jin sect wouldn’t be good for her son, and jin guangshan wouldn’t help her *or* meng yao. the night before meng shi dies, she tells shen jiu that she loves him, regardless of whether he may fulfill her dreams.
aaaand, after that, shen jiu buries meng shi. he makes enough money as an artist (in secret, with his skillset from qing jing) to give her the proper burial rites. after that, he runs away. shen jiu finds a job as an assistant to an artist who sold fans and paintings in caiyi town. through his job, he meets NHS first, when he’s on his first year of being st the cloud recesses. surprisingly, shen jiu and nie huaisang have a friendship that… isn’t too bad. shen jiu is amiable, shows off the different fans he’s painted, and nie huaisang eagerly buys all of them. nie huaisang also buys out shen jiu’s other works, like his poetry and short stories. that day, with shen jiu’s qiankun pouch full, he treats himself to tanghulu.
the second encounter with nie huaisang brought along jiang cheng and wei wuxian. at that point in time, they were investigating the waterborne abyss problem. shen jiu, a year older now, shows nie huaisang his “new” invention: the war fan. wei wuxian is absolutely delighted at the new invention, and jiang cheng, although less excited that WWX, is considerably impressed as well. as for NHS, well, words can’t describe his happiness. shen jiu, on a whim, gifts it to him for free— mockingly thanking NHS for being such a generous patron. nie huaisang, unable to contain his excitement anymore, jumps on shen jiu and embraces him dramatically. this causes such a commotion, lan wangji comes over. with his brother.
(okay, i’m done writing for today.)

Record of Ragnarok x Kuma!Reader and Readers Daughter Jewelry Bonney
Wholesome and fluff a bit angst with Kuma's past and such. :^ ❤️
-You were an imposing figure, towering over many of the citizens of Valhalla, other gods included, but your size didn’t match your temperament, as you were such a giant softy, especially to your little daughter, Bonney, who was the light of your life.
-She came to you with Valhalla, dying alongside you, something you did have a bit of guilt over, as you felt like you failed to protect her, but now she was safe- you both were safe in Valhalla, together.
-You didn’t have to pretend to be someone you weren’t anymore- you were able to be free to be the parent to Bonney you always wanted to be, and she was able to be a normal child in Valhalla.
-Many knew that you were a warrior, holding a unique ability from the Devil Fruit you ate when you were young, and the skills you gained over the course of your life- you were a force to be reckoned with.
-But you always refused the warriors who came to you, looking to spar with you, wanting to test your abilities for themselves, you were a pacifist- and you didn’t want to fight ever again if you could avoid it.
-Bonney on the other hand was your little spitfire, wanting to fight anyone she could, wanting to test her own unique abilities against them, and for a while, the warriors were content- getting to spar against someone so strong.
-When Ragnarok was announced, many were stunned when you volunteered, even Bonney was stunned, looking up at you in awe. Many asked you why you were fighting but you remained silent, as you were so furious to hear how cruel the gods were, as you picked your daughter up, putting her up on your shoulder.
-Many received their answer right there, seeing your child- you were going to fight for your child- that was the only way you were going to be fighting.
-However, you ended up not fighting, as you stormed into a meeting of the gods, fully ready to take them all on if they weren’t willing to listen to you, but some were impressed by your strength and power, and you offered your assistance, in taking the pain from the earth- ridding it of pollution- ridding it of the taint that humans have caused.
-Zeus was curious and allowed you to do so, and when you did just that, removing the pollution of Earth, removing the toxicity, the gods were stunned, but they were ready to keep up their end of the bargain, of being the gods they should have been from the start.
-You healed the world- now it was up to them to manage humanity, properly this time. You were pleased you didn’t have to fight, and you saved humanity with your actions, it was all worth it- to keep your child safe and happy.

I think Star and Wander would be just as frustrated w/ each other as Wander was with Dom in s2, if not more. Ostensibly, they share the same goals so theoretically it shouldn't be too hard for one to get thru to the other. Problem is, both Wander and Star are very stubborn irt their views and what they think is the right way to go about things. Granted, with s3 being about testing Wander, he likely would've started to question his beliefs abit and eventually become not as stubborn with his views, especially considering Dom blunty turning down his offer of redemption/friendship at the end of s2. Maybe Star would've had a similar arc? What do you think ?
YEAH !!!!!! YEAH LITERALLY !!!!! thx for asking! big oc infodump incoming
thats exactly what ive been thinking of, like SFEF honestly have the universe's best interest in mind. they motivate their actions on the belief that they're right n they're genuinely doing good by freeing galaxies of villains, even if it's in frankly cruel ways n their definition of what is "good" n what is "evil" is extremely black n white n divided. they are the always the good guys n others r the bad guys who are inherently fundamentally evil n dangerous n deserve every terrible thing in the world to happen to them (that worldview is basically exactly what leads to the dehumanization of villains in their eyes n that is what makes it rlly easy for them to do what they do cuz they don't view villains as actual ppl with their own motivations n reasoning but as a disembodied force to be defeated).
star, who is the perfect guy to represent SFEF's beliefs n ideals (like he genuinely does not question them in the slightest he accepts their worldview as his own to the point his self-identity is tied directly to SFEF. the way he goes about fulfilling his duty is sort of tainted by his own personal wants n opinions sometimes, that's why sugar n ultra r there to level it out, but at the core he operates on the same logic as SFEF do, underneath all of their inspiring slogans n speeches of their righteous mission), is also the perfect guy to serve as a contrast to wander. star is literally like helplessness-less wander from the wanders episode. we only got to see him once in the show n the only thing he did was do a cool pose n explain his worldview, so star is basically what would happen if he got to act upon n actively spread his ideology — if wander had to face against someone w his own discarded belief n prove not just to himself but to literally the entire galaxy that it is not the answer
i feel like wander would be absolutely delighted to see SFEF show up at first. new people in the galaxy, and they're here to help, and they're really good at their job and others seem to really like them — this is basically like the hot shot episode situation. but then as their mission goes on hed begin to recognize their approach is flawed AS HELL — hed get that ideological ick from them. the problem is — he's the only one. post-dominator, after his pacifistic approach didn't work and dominator turned out to be an irredeemable sadist who could've only been stopped by force, the yonder galaxy would sorta start questioning wander n be more willing to side w SFEF n their more forceful methods. maybe that would even include sylvia, give her a bit of an arc — ofc shed still stay w wander n in the end shed support him, but judging by her character i feel like she wouldn't be opposed to a team of good guys who stop villains by force instead of trying to befriend them. even if she started warming up to peepers a lot n even cheered for hater in the end of the galaxy, she still doesn't seem to fully agree w wander on the sentiment that villains can be redeemed (quite paradoxical considering she was a redeemed "bad guy". wonder where that stems from). i think an arc of her coming to her own conclusion that wander really is right abt that instead of just going along w all his plans throughout all s3 would do her pretty well. so there goes the testing wander part. no matter how confident in ur own righteousness u are, if literally the entire galaxy rejects ur worldview u can't help but start to question it. that might even work to wander's benefit in a way, cuz his approach admittedly is still kinda flawed, so starting to question it might in the end make it more nuanced n balanced instead — curiously, what tries to break him ends up helping him in its own way. in the end it'd all probably come around to a big epic wander win n a great philosophical conclusion abt pacifism n what is good n evil n how too drenched in nuance everything actually is to apply such simple black n white logic to it. idk exactly how it'll happen but thats how i imagine it
now this part is curious, cuz smth needs to happen to SFEF after they lose right? now um the best outcome would be to show the entire bigass intergalactic SFEF organization the error of their ways so they can use their influence n power for something better — but idk how to actually come to it, cuz it's quite the feat.
what is a bit less of a feat is to redeem just star sugar n ultra in the end. ultra has her own arc going on of gaining conscience n beginning to question SFEF's ways by virtue of their beliefs being programmed into her, n the very act of her gaining free thought goes directly against her programming. so she doesn't have a brainwashed stupidass little head like how star does, which makes it just the tiniest bit easier. wander would come in super handy as a guy who showed an alternative to loyal to their authority soldiers/robots at least two times before. now i just dont know if i should let ultra have her happy ending or give her the beep boop treatment, inevitably shut down for good or sent back to be reset back to her factory settings the moment she stops being convenient to the cause or even worse tries to sabotage it. hard choice
sugar... sugar is a bit of a pickle. they dont go against SFEF but they don't exactly support it either. u see their species — bonbons — due to their physiological advantages, r rlly convenient for SFEF to hire. theyre almost impossible to hurt, have the ability to regenerate, can shift shape freely n can solidify or liquify their body's consistency at will. so basically SFEF practically has control over their homeplanet, in the cultural n societal sense. working for SFEF is like the go-to career there — kinda like the military if they payed better n also didn't endanger ur life so much. so sugar isn't there out of some righteous desire to save the universe, or for glory, or out of obligation — theyre basically there for the bag. its like a 9 to 5 to them. a circumstance. that attitude is outrageous, but that's the point — sugar is rlly detached from reality. they just go w the flow. they dont want to think too hard about the cause theyre contributing to. they dont want to think of the fact their actions have consequences. they dont want to take the lead of their own life. n since they leave it up for grabs SFEF is happy to accept the offer. in order for sugar to have an arc of abandoning SFEF n growing as a person they need something DRASTICCCC to happen, put them in a situation where they have no choice but to take action n actually pick a side. to commit. idk how that'd happen but it would be great trust 🙏🙏
now star. heheheheheh. until just recently i actually didnt even consider a character arc for him. hes a stubborn self-assured delusional fucking blockhead who would rather kill himself than admit he's wrong. i felt like just keeping him that way cuz i didnt see how wander would be able to make him reconsider that wout it feeling forced. but then it came to me, that if there's anything he believes to be as correct as himself — its SFEF. like ive said SFEF is basically tied into his self image now. every "I'm not wrong" automatically translates into "SFEF isn't wrong" n vice versa. n now — what if those sentiments weren't just separated but directly put against eachother, one or the other inevitably false. what if SFEF fired him. its their big final loss, star is forced to admit defeat, mark the end of their mission in the yonder galaxy n just come back to the main SFEF station empty handed. but they don't even let him do that. they just fire him. he fucked up his first mission in a relatively small galaxy that was literally almost wiped out by a huge threat beforehand — like it was perfect picking n he fucked that up. he proved himself worthless n hes not rlly important enough to deserve a second chance from them, they can fire him n literally nothing would change (a big shocker for star who genuinely thought he was all that. in reality they didn't even hire him in the first place cuz of his skills or something — it was because he looked like their mascot 😭 ofc going up the SFEF career ladder to the point they oh so generously allow him to lead a mission took him a lot of effort. but in the end he's just another easily replaceable cog in the machine. he refused to see that until now. he was like the biggest SFEF d-rider ever n he naively thought he meant something in return, that his efforts would pay off, that he'd be recognized for how absolutely jawdroppingly cool n awesome he is, that he has some worth to them — but he doesn't). n so something that was a big part of him, something he built his identity on, now leaves him on the side of the road. n it creates a huge dissonance — n he can't figure out whether he's wrong for fucking up n being a fucking loser or they're wrong for firing him, cuz both of those r thoughts he refused to even consider before. now probably for the first time in his life he's forced to come face to face w the fact he failed, in a way he can't brush off or takw himself back from after. to make matters worse he's basically homeless now lmao cuz he used to live on the SFEF spaceship station until they fired him n he cant come back to his parents house cuz that's the most shameful humiliating shit ever to him n hed rather kill himself than let his parents know the fucking SFEF fired his ass cuz its kinda a big deal 👍 n so there goes wonder — @catfacedcat's oc
some exposition so wonder is a criminal who keeps getting away n hes basically like stars arch nemesis n they also have a bit of a Thing going on. toxic yaoi situationship. now to star wonder was like. a spot on his squeaky clean self image. falling for a criminal n ur enemy is basically... a flaw. a weakness. an inevitable loss n stuff. actually there was smth rlly good that came out of it, interacting w wonder a lot n warming up to him made star question a bit maybe he's not such a fundamentally evil terrible badguy after all. like "maybe nuance is real n bad ppl r still ppl hmmm ☝️☝️ nah no way" or whatever. so what i mean to say is star is at the lowest of the lows rn right. this is that inevitable loss. hes the spot on his own made up image of himself that he couldn't live up to. so he goes to the guy who he feels he belongs w most now — wonder. belongs not in a romantic sense(ok maybe a romantic sense too) but in a "ure the only person im vaguely close to who i feel like could look me in the eyes rn simultaneously the only person id let see me cuz the very act of me feeling anything towards u was already a step so low for me that begging u to let me stay w u doesn't even feel like going much lower. anyway so can u let me in ure my only hope 🥺" sense. so he just stands outside of wonders car cuz wonder doesnt even have a fucking house either, holding a cardboard box w 3 shirts 10 ties n a cactus, completely drenched out in the rain probably fell in a fucking puddle on the way. n i feel like he doesn't even expect him to open the door. n wonder wouldn't really be to blame if he didn't like things r rlly complicated between them. + she alr has to share her stupid broken ass car w her coolioburger 4yo kid (big shoutout to woopa) like be so fr rn. but hed probably let star in anyway n they just sit there rlly awkwardly n avoid eye contact. basically a huge humbling experience for star that is sure to kickstart a character arc of reconsidering things n becoming a better person n stuff 👍 all because of yaoi
big shoutout to my frjends for this one fr stars arc was like a group project

Peace of mind
Based on something from "Broken Chains" by Neal Litherland on A Vox in the Void.
@moodymisty I am clearly a mad woman with 0 sense of self preservation
Your frail hands tugged on the chain around your neck. Your Mistress had abandoned you and left you like a piece of prey tied up to lure out the monster. You were a pacifist at heart and you were sure your mistress was okay with it but even now you were unwilling to shake your morals for that.
You sobbed as the screaming got closer. There was itching and iron behind your eyes... the wrath was palatable through the warp. "Mistress please!" You wail out knowing that she was probably long gone. But you heard it the heavy footsteps rushing around the corner as you watch a body fly into the wall their scream being silenced as a ton of flesh and armor turned it into a smear.
The world eater looked at the offering with a cock of his head as the bloody mess of a man gave him a moment of reprieve. Just a moment... as he exhaled hard through the rebreather on his face. A roll of his neck muscles as he stalked closer allowing himself to take time to savor this kill. Such a weak little thing... psykers were disgustingly frail things. The seared markings on her body... former imperial clearly... unwilling little thing.
"Oh god please no." You whimpered... what god were you asking? You suppose any that would listen in this moment. Time slowed to a crawl as he lunged forward and you could just see the rage in his eyes. You held a hand up unsure of what you would even do to stop him but you reached out.
Hot breath brushed over your hand as you timidly opened your eyes and could see his eyes practically black from how blown out his pupils were. To him... your eyes were a miniature galaxy... a miniature maelstrom swirling and dancing... he could feel your powers digging deep into his skull and soothing him. He moaned afraid to look away from his source of comfort. He could think... by the gods when was the last time Zul had a moment to think.
You bleated out like a helpless creature as he rent the collar off of your neck with such ease. Your hand trembled as you pushed yourself away from him only for him to crawl after you, you too afraid to stop doing what you were doing. Till his face pushed against your outstretched hand and he moaned letting his eyes close for a moment. It was as if your tiny little hands had pulled them out only slightly. And when he couldn't feel the buzz of you using the Warp on him... the relief lingered. He could tell it would come back, it always did, but he was left with a clearer head... for the first time in gods knows how long it had been since he followed father into damnation he could THINK.
"P-please." His red tainted brown eyes opened up looking at your trembling body. "Please let me go." You pleaded as your eyes still swirled and he could feel the ghosts of your fingers in the back of his skull.
"No." His gravely voice spoke for the first time in so long he had formed a coherent thought. Earning him a sob from your throat. Oh he wasn't ever going to let you go and was certain if his brothers discovered what you could do... you had traded an uncaring mistress for an attentive master.
He hardly cared in his contented state the way you got up and scrambled away with panicked cries rolling out of your throat. You hardly got very far before the world eater was upon you again. Forcing you to look at him with your eyes... how they swirled and you watched as his eyes became blown out once again. Even your eyes could give him a lessened version of your effect over him.
His laugh sounded painful like he was unuse to laughing. His hands bruised you so easily as he could feel him struggling to not crush you underneath his hands as he hummed to you softly. Your face pressed against the vile platebody as it smelt of death and bile rushed up your throat. You started to beg, normally Zul hated begging but he was in a contented mood so he let you beg for your life. His hand traced over the bruise on your neck from your old collar... he'd get you a pretty brass one.

FULL NAME: rhodes evanthe SPECIES: anthusai GENDER: agender (afab) PRONOUNS: they/them, bloom/blooms, ae/aes DOB / AGE: june 19 / 506, appears 24 ALIGNMENT: lawful neutral OCCUPATION: actress/model DRINK, SMOKE, DRUGS?: sometimes, no, sometimes ORIENTATION: bisexual POSITION: switch verse

MENTAL POSITIVE TRAITS: extroverted, industrious, whimsical NEGATIVE TRAITS: tactless, scatterbrained, childish LIKES: gore, true crime, berries DISLIKES: dried fruit, boring books, disappointing people
BIOGRAPHY although rhodes is a anthusai, a nymph of flowers, they had always been... different from the rest of their brood. rhodes was equally as talented in song and dance, with a face that would be cooed over as the sweetest among their siblings. however, while their siblings were preoccupied with meadows and catching the interest of beautiful deities, bloom was fascinated with humans. specifically, rhodes was fascinated with human blood and guts. no matter how much aes siblings tried to steer aes away from the macabre, nothing seemed to deter rhodes's love of human violence. it's believed that the meadow rhodes' bloomed from had been tainted with human blood, or that their father was of a more nefarious nature than the rest of their siblings. nonetheless, finding fulfillment in daily anthusai tasks was difficult for rhodes, even with the unconditional love and support of blooms siblings. it was decided that rhodes would find happiness living among humans. their anthusai nature keeps them pacifistic (for now) and, instead, bloom finds joy in theatric gore. nowadays rhodes is a beloved actress among dedicated horror fans for their performances in some of the most grotesque, extreme movies. you can almost always find them on a set or on a convention panel, basking in the feeling of belonging while being surrounded by horror.

my many thoughts on: “you win. you made me into this” vs ‘throw them into another dimension for the rest of their lives lmao’
I am FRESH off finishing the finale, so i can’t guarantee the hottest takes, but they’re fresh picked from my brain. no research, no rewatch, we sniff death dust like UNIT.
long rambly post! you’ve been warned!
I understand that ‘if you kill a killer you’re just as bad as they are’ isn’t the most… convincing argument. if you think about it, is the act of killing someone (or something) that wiped out billions and billions of people on the same moral level as committing that same unimaginable evil? is being killed a worse fate than being locked away, alone, for the rest of your life? (or for eternity- remember what 10 did to the mayflies? shit was fucked up!)
maybe the show really does want us to come away with “killing bad no matter what uwu*” but to me, I think it’s more important to think about this in the context of who the doctor is as a character. ‘no killing’ is his personal moral code, and it’s something he truly believes in. yes, it can get a little bit absurd when they’re sending people to forever time prison, but strong feelings and beliefs are very, very good at causing characters (and real people) to act irrationally. plus, he’s a gazillion year old alien. I think he can have a little blue and orange morality, as a treat.
friendly reminder: the doctor has canonically committed war crimes!! they pushed the big red button on gallifrey- there’s a LOT of blood on their hands**. they were always a pacifist at heart(s), but I think the time war really cemented the fact that they never wanted to kill again. the doctor expressed guilt several times this season for supposedly bringing trouble and death wherever he goes, and the whole finale was a distillation of that! countless lives wiped out, and he believes it’s because of him. no wonder the guy lost it***.
mercy is all they have. they can’t undo the deaths that still haunt them, but they can make damn sure that not one more soul dies by their hand- even if the alternative is arguably a fate worse than death.
I believe that, past a certain point, refusing to kill a foe isn’t about being merciful or having the higher moral ground. it’s just the doctor desperately trying to avoid taking any more lives, no matter the cost. it’s not rational- it’s emotional self-preservation. that single soul might just be the straw that breaks them apart.
no more. everybody lives.
the doctor didn’t admit defeat when everyone and everywhere he knew was reduced to dust. (tbf, universe ending catastrophes are an average friday for them.) he grieved, but then he got to work, and he and ruby fixed it.
stopping suketh was a victory. and yet, the doctor admits defeat right before he cuts that line. it’s right there in the text- to him, this is a loss, because he was forced to break the moral code he’s been carrying for thousands of years.
I think it shatters the armor they’ve built around their own self-perception. the doctor wants to be seen as someone who represents life. they want to be able to see themself as someone who represents life- and I believe that they’ve been struggling with that for a long, long time****.
there’s a reason the doctor doesn’t talk about themself, or their past, or loved ones they’ve lost- it’s all tainted by death. at least, I think that’s how they see it. this bitch is traumatized! (maybe they refuse to kill even the most vile enemy because a part of them feels that they’re just as bad? good dalek etc etc)
I don’t think the doctor is thinking all of this consciously, of course. (he’s definitely thinking some of it, though). I just think all of this stuff is a major part of their character.
I really hope that killing sutekh has some serious consequences next season. as big as the scene was in the moment, the end of the episode was more focused on ruby’s story than the doctor’s emotional fallout. (I’m not complaining about having the focus on ruby! shit made me tear up!)
I want to see how the doctor feels about breaking his one rule. I crave angsty character exploration! and maybe an scp end of death type scenario
tldr: I think the doctor deserves to make weird moral decisions every now and then*****. also they’re the sad wet little meow meow ever and I want to put them in the plot equivalent of a hydraulic press.
*I do believe that one of the show’s central themes is the sanctity of life, and that saving lives the most important goal someone can have. I just don’t think it’s here to preach the exact minutiae of what is or isn’t justified.
**I missed most of 13’s run, but it sounds like some serious shit went down there too. I’m gonna go back and catch up soon!
***that said, I hope they continue losing it now and then, because unhinged doctor is my favorite doctor. don’t read into that.
****I know that 14 supposedly fixed himself, but like… no he didn’t. I mean, I hope post-bi-generation 14 is doing great in therapy, but if he is, I don’t think 15 is getting any of the benefits. “maybe I’m the bad luck” in his very first episode?? this bitch lied directly to his own face and he’s kinda iconic for that
*****dear beloved piss on the poor website: the doctor is a fictional character. I do not endorse murder, war crimes, or trapping people in forever prisons irl.
#jay caws#doctor who spoilers#doctor who#doctor who finale#doctor who meta#long post#probably lukewarm takes at best but thinking about a character’s inner world is like crack to me

my undertale act structure analysis post is getting traction all of a sudden and ppl in the tags have all sorts of ideas about what Specific Gamer Behavior undertale’s narrative is condemning and like that is the most lame way to interpret that narrative. if the emotional and thematic core of undertale revolved specifically around some gamer bros who really ground toby fox’s gears it would be a shitty story. if i were to pick A Condemnation or at least a concern undertale expresses it would be entitlement surrounding art and rapid consumption of it. it offers you its story, its compelling world and characters, its happy ending and then it’s done. at least internally, it doesn’t really guide you to anything but true pacifist. a no mercy run is not something flowey eggs you on to do at the end of neutral runs, it’s not an encouraged mode of play in “The RPG where no one has to die!” the entire no mercy run is about how it is your active, conscious decision to have gone out of your way to do harm, even when it is actively more tedious and difficult than any other option. if you engage with its narrative exclusivey through the lens of it being a meta spin video game tropes and mechanics and nothing more, then yeah, it does look like the thesis statement is “completionism is immoral” but i think an extremely critical thing that people miss is that no mercy is not an encouraged mode of play. there is an entire discussion around how implementation functionally is encouragement, “if it’s in the game on purpose, the developer didn’t put it there to keep it out of players’ hands.” but again observing through the lens of narrative and not activity (or activity as a means to communicate narrative) the implication is that feverish unconditional consumption of media is destructive. the player is literally given the agency to suck the life and joy out of a game about quirky characters and big cheesy emotions because that’s what happens when you are dead set on seeing as much as possible instead of appreciating what’s there. althought undertales [FIGHT] and [MERCY] buttons are functionally similar to a dialogue option to be nice or an asshole, undertale’s no mercy differentiates itself from other games’ “evil” routes because it actively discourages engaging with the evil option on a mechanical level. you have to tediously grind away literally every enemy through a small habdful of encounter configurations in every area and the game denies you as much of itself as it can at every turn, long stretches of tedious grinding interrupted by deliberately ludicrous difficulty spikes, trying to act as roadblocks so utterly insurmountable that you just quit. if you do succeed, your reward is a copy-tainting flag that makes a point of ruining your good endings if you every try for them again. it is an actively discouraged mode of play on every level above implementation. you are not supposed to play this way, and the only reason you would (and again this is from like the gameworld’s internal moral perspective, enjoying a challenge or wanting to experience an aspect of the narrative yourself is a perfectly valid reason to want to do it) is if you wanted to exhaust something you enjoyed of every last drop of stimulation it could offer. undertale is a game packed with secrets and even with direct messages to data miners. it was aware from minute one that it was going to be gutted and picked apart and given a million cover to cover skimmings across the world because that’s just what happens to art in the information age. i think it definitely does actively encourage paratextual engagement, everything to do with FUN values and gaster are absurdly rare random chance events that try to foster discussions about mysteries only witnessed by a precious few players, but i think it does resent that to some extent it cant truly have any real mysteries. so quickly was every code cracked and every secret shared to millions, because that’s just what people do to things they love, they shatter them into pieces so they can put them back together a thousand times.
#interesting i didn’t know there was a character limit on tumblr posts#this post came 10 characters short lol

bouncing around NuWho and noticing a funny trend of Chibnall not understanding the Doctor's stance on guns.
like, yeah the Doctor doesn't like weapons. in theory, a pacifist. violence is the last resort (except for when it isn't) and all that good stuff. but when Chibnall is writing, guns are uniquely unethical objects that taint the souls of those who wield them. so naturally, the Doctor will go out of their way to pontificate about how we must be better than that! THIS IS THE WEAPON OF THE ENEMY. WE DO NOT NEED IT. WE WILL NOT USE IT. total Batman-esque no-guns policy awkwardly copy-pasted into the Doc's characterization. anyone who even looks at them gets a lecture, which gets doubly goofy when they don't bat an eye at the same character they were disapproving of throwing a goddamn grenade less than ten seconds later lmao
#shrapnel is a more morally acceptable form of violence than laser bolts apparently#doctor who#this isn't a thirteen-specific thing btw he writes like this in earlier seasons too lol

So Undertale Yellow is a new obsession of mine, I've been a fan of MasterswordRemix for a couple years now, and even played the game's demo a while back. But just, wow. Go play it if you haven't.
Spoilers under the cut.
I just finished the pacifist run, and many people have talked about heartbreaking it is, how much they cried and such. I, foolishly enough, spoiled the game for myself while being stuck on a certain part of it (cough cough, El-fucking-Bailador, cough cough) so I knew what the ending was going to be like.
Most games that end bittersweet or in tragedy break my heart and leave me with an empty feeling, desolation over the fact that the experience ended and someone suffered in unfair misfortune.
But Undertale Yellow just felt unfair. Clover didn't have to die like that. Their friends knew that too, but Ceroba and Clover knew that there were too many uncertainties. The game never confirms how soon Undertale is after Yellow. Could have been a year or so, could be decades. Clover might not have even lived long enough to meet Frisk, with the Royal Guard chasing after them.
Even in the Neutral ending where Martlet offers you to stay with her, Flowey steps in and stops it. No matter what route (except genocide but that's not really canon) Clover can never escape their fate. An unjust fate set in stone by Asgore, strung along by Flowey, and tainted but inevitably reached by their friend's hopes and dreams.
The soul of justice reaches an unjust end, with their friend's grievences eventually moving onto better places to continue their lives. Frisk knows none of this. No one in Undertale knows this (ignoring the obvious Doylist reasoning) and they likely never will. Clover is integral to saving the entire Underground from its fate, whether by choice or not, and barely anyone but their friends know their name.
They never got a real choice. To save monsters or kill them, the truth of the future just lies plainly there in the source material for all to see. And there is the tragedy. They never got a choice to be anything but a cog in the machine, it was the only choice they could even make by their own hand. And they're a kid. It's fucked up, not just at all, no justice to be found for someone encompassing it. It left me mourning a death that makes
Frisk's time in the Underground look like a fucking miracle because of how many people didn't fear them. Frisk was lucky, lucky to be strong enough with determination, to befriend the right people who could change the Underground for the better, and to get to end the monsters' suffering. Clover never gets any of that. Just used as part of a tool to break the barrier, dragged along and struggling against foes that takes ages of pain to beat. Those six kids got done dirty by the game, we barely got to know anything about them, except for the objects that were left behind. Undertale Yellow fills this gap, telling a forgotten story in hopes to keep the memory of those sacrificed alive. That's why it's so special.
Funnily enough, that vibe fits with the narrative point of Hadestown, my favourite musical ever, how fun.
Anyway thank you for coming to my rambles for whatever fucking reason.

Genuinely can't comprehend how there's undertale fans out there who get mad at streamers for not going for true pacifist first and who feel the urge to backseat.
I was watching pointcrow's first playthrough earlier and there was legit one person in chat saying 'as an undertale veteran this pains me' and... It shouldn't! Playing blind and not doing everything 'right' the first time is EXACTLY how it should be done - it's the most organic experience and the coolest way to enjoy it. (There's no right way to play it btw, every way of playing undertale is right).
Backseating and trying to reveal what LOVE is and telling people they messed up just sucks. Undertale is a fun and compelling game and if people like it, they'll typically go back and try pacifist (and usually genocide too) later! Doing neutral first makes pacifist feel so much more magical!!!! All that bleakness suddenly starts to disappear! A full second playthrough also lets you get all the dialogue about frisk seeming familiar to everyone, which you miss out on by just going straight to undyne's letter or by triggering the genocide route.
Let first time players play how they want and let them have fun! Backseating and/or telling them things taints a blind run and takes so much fun out of it. I didn't think people did it any more but crow played it last year and his chat was still full of that. Undertale let's you do so much and people need time to figure it out manually.
I feel like longtime undertale fans should get that, y'know? Trial by fire - I always wish I got to play fully blind but I watched a run first. If someone's gone all this time without knowing anything, let them figure it out in their own time and watch the magic happen.
#undertale#xan's thoughts#nothing is paining me more than seeing his chat scream at him to reset or act or spare every battle#and there was one person spamming 'love stands for level of violence' - why spoil one of the coolest twists in the game 😭#i HATE watching chats strongarm streamers into doing true pacifist and I'm so glad pointcrow didn't stand for it and did his own thing

Thoughts on the Obliteration route of Deltatraveler from someone who's only played the pacifist run.
Just finished the Deltatraveler pacifist route. Pretty much liked it. Does have this weird tone where it goes from serious to "Ralsei is smoking weed and Goku is on the riverperson's boat with UT!Noelle and Dess"
But seeing as the inspiration for this game was literally the "GOD DAMMIT KRIS WHERE HE HELL ARE WE" meme, I guess memes are expected.
However, I don't think I'm going to play and Obliteration Route (just going to watch some vids on it). Note this is coming from someone who both finished the snowgrave route, and all but finished the geno route (because I don't want a tainted save file so I just reset after sans.)
Reason is a hot take, I don't see it within Susie's character to go through with an Obliteration/Snowgrave esk route.
Like, Deltarune has already established that Susie is the most resistant to the players commands. We've already seen in the Lancer fight her realizing that she doesn't want to kill him, so I don't see her being cool with killing after that.
I very much believe that once the whole Snowgrave crap is revealed, Susie's very much going to turn coat (especially when she learns that Noelle of all people was hurt by the player.)
Only thing I can see is maybe the first few monsters in the Ruins dying because Susie expects them to run away and NOT turn to dust. (Because y'know, in Deltarune (outside of the snowgrave route) there's a kill count of exactly zero. Fighting doesn't kill people in Deltarune.)
Susie's reaction to Napstablook's death in the Obliteration route wouldn't just be confusion. Susie would genuinely be pissed. After THAT at least I see her almost refusing to fight/finishing off enemies in an almost reverse of herself in Chapter 1.
Even in Chapter 1 when she joins the party for real, she leaves the caveat of "don't tell me [to do] anything STUPID, Or I'll go back to smashing heads, alright!?" Susie would defiantly consider "being told to MURDER everything in her sight" under the "something stupid" category.
At most, maybe a pre/mid-chapter 1 or pre-character growth Susie would go along with it (seeing as she was still on the "attack anything on sight" thing). But after the Lancer fight? hell nah.
#Deltatraveler#Deltatraveler spoilers#spoilers#snowgrave#weird route#snowgrave spoilers#weird route spoilers#deltatraveler obliteration route#deltatraveler obliteration#obliteration route#susie#susie deltarune#posts from tigerbear's tumblr#note so far I've only skimmed merg's video on the first section in the ruins#and still watching the second part and more crap that I think susie would object too. maybe i'll make another post about it.

Thank you so much for answering ! I was so hesitant about sending that ask because to me it was just an unnecessarily morbid and sad vent, so imagine my surprise when you said it was lovely to receive 😹
I have watched the alt right playbook series when it came out ! I used to be very involved in skeptictube back in the day and everyone recommended it. I'll need to rewatch it ! I was wondering if you had recommandations about the satanic panic specifically, as you mentioned listening to/watching something about it ?
Your paragraph about conspiracy theories is SO on point! I definitely need to translate it and show it to my mother, you worded perfectly what I've been trying to explain to her. Q anon really is a good example of these things because it is exceptionally stupid and extreme.
A few things about the Emmanuel Macron theory :
My father didn't come up with it, he never does. I'm not sure how to say it in english but my father is very influencable, he is very easily convinced by people trying to sell him products (or ideas...). Most of his ideas come from people he follows on twitter and odyssee. As for the theory itself : the idea that Brigitte Macron is actually male is very popular amongst french conspiracy theorists, and I suppose you are not aware, but even without that she is quite the controversial figure. She was the president's teacher in high school and if I remember correctly, when he got his diploma she left her husband for him and they have been together even since. I'm not giving my opinion on this whole debacle because it's above my paycheck lol, but as long as my father has known who this woman is, he has hated her with a burning passion and made it very clear from how he talks about her. Long story short he wants her hanged on the time square 👍. This is all very hypocritical of him considering he never had any moral issues with his sister (my aunt) marrying a man she started dating when she was 12 and he was 28. And never acting up and doing something to help her when he turned out to be abusive. (Shocker I know)
For your answers : I agree with everything apart from the fact that Macron is a right wing politician and my father also wants HIM dead 👍 he wants everybody dead. He used to be anti death penalty and a profound pacifist, but now he cannot dislike things or people normally. Everything becomes extremely violent.
Writing all this has been very cathartic! This situation has been harder and harder to live by the day (I still live with my father after all) and I've been having a bit of a breakdown because of it. It's hard to remain cordial and polite with someone like this everyday, because every activity, every subject of conversation is tainted. It has taken all the joy out of our home life, mine especially. So thank you for hearing me out :) you're really cool
Nice to find another informed and cultured fellow like myself! I'm very glad you're familiar with the alt right playbook. Imo it should be standard 'reading' for any wannabe leftist. My favourite video is the one on 'controlling the conversation' which has entirely shifted how I engage with people online, and is responsible for why you don't see me argue much on here.
Don't worry about being morbid, I'm used to all sorts of things I probably shouldn't burden my fragile mind with. Regardless, I think it's so important that women speak out about our experiences with each other. What I find so fascinating about feminist analysis is that literally every subject you can name will inevitably relate back to some patriarchal ideology/practice - which makes sense because women are 50% of the population and male oppression is so universal that of course it would permeate everything.
Huh, Macron's wikipedia page mentioned associations with the socialist party. And I also figured that it would make sense him being considered left wing, since right wingers are obsessed with emasculated, 'soft' men having left wing politics. However I did originally intend to put 'left wing' in air quotes because I'm aware that even self-proclaimed left wing parties are liberal at best.
Here's the video that sparked my thoughts - it's a much more standard exploration of the history of satanism so there's not much in terms of analysis, just history. I'm getting slowly used to it but now whenever I hear a man speak on a political/philosophical subject, the absence of feminist analysis is palpable. I'm a big fan of breadtube and skeptictube but since I started engaging with feminism I can't help but notice those glaring gaps where they'll say stuff like 'trads want women to go back into the kitchen because they believe that men and women should have certain roles' - they're so deathly afraid to address what those roles are and why they exist, it would be funny if it wasn't frustrating. If I find any better resources on satanism I'll let you know; it would be cool if anyone has any good book recommendations on things like satanism, conspiracy theories etc. from a feminist point of view. (I think Gyn/ecology might touch on it? I've not got a copy unfortunately).
I am very unsurprised that your father is fine with a age gap between an older man and woman but not the other way round. It's one of the oldest double standards in the book, I'd wager! Also unsurprised about the sharp turn to loving violence in all forms. It's funny isn't it, how the absurdity of qanon is so obvious - it's been said before by women on here that there seems to be something so enticing about these farcical ideologies. I think people like confidence, they like the idea of being sure against all odds, and the more ridiculous the assumption the more you have to take it in on faith - and then you're locked in, because admitting it was wrong will eventually require you admit it's also patently absurd. I think a lot of people just don't want to take that leap. There are a lot of books on how to escape cults that might be of interest? Combating Cult Mind Control by Stephen Hassan comes to mind - I haven't read it but I've heard good things about it.
I didn't know you still live with him - that's incredibly tough. I can strongly imagine how difficult that would make day-to-day life. I have experienced something similar before. Not being able to talk freely with loved ones in your own home really does change something inside you, I think. I'm glad writing it all out has been cathartic for you - we women need to do this more, our experiences need to be heard and documented. I hate the fact that because of our visibility online we can never give too much away, but there are ways around it I think. It's been so incredibly cathartic for me to write - it's made me feel not crazy, it's given me focus and purpose. Anyway, best of luck to you, I hope you get out of that situation as soon as possible, or at least find some way of making it more palatable for yourself.

SO! I’ve been re-working a bit of Lizzy’s canonicity, cause things got a little hectic and I think I want to make things a bit more simple. (haha...)
I'm still thinking about Lizzy stuff to flesh out and round her out, so if you have any questions feel free to ask c:
The General Timeline:
- Lizzy is born, as a male au ra in the ruby sea - Lizzy gets launched off a ship while travelling with her birth parents in the Ruby Sea as a result of a pirate attack. This leads to Lizzy having a phobia of water, as well as a phobia of pirates. She gets rescued by Kojin and brought to an orphanage in Kugane (she becomes a female au ra at this point)
- She bounces between a couple orphanages as no one wants to adopt her, until she lands in Gridania, where she is adopted by Simon (hyur) and Amandine (deaf, duskwight elezen) Frizzle, she is given the name “Elizabeth Frizzle”
- She learns sign language, gardening stuff, she climbs trees, and aspires to be a white mage like Amandine
- Her parents go as field medics to help the gridanian soldiers while fighting the imperial army, they get killed during the calamity
- after spending one nameday alone (12 years old), Lizzy starts wandering the shroud, after a couple months she gets picked up by the sylphs, she adopts the name Lizzy Frizzixio
- after spending several years with the sylphs, she gets caught pickpocketing in new gridania and instead of given jail time, she’s forced to become an adventurer and help recovery efforts, eventually being forced to join the scions
- Lizzy vowing to be a pacifist, tries to spend most of her time adventuring as a scholar, though as a part of the scions, they utilized Lizzy’s sneaking skills that she gained from the sylphs to run covert operations, often being sent into enemy territory for information gathering
- Lizzy was not gifted the blessing of light, like the primary WoL, but during the ultima fight her scholar shielding was able to shield her and several others from the blast (though, everyone insisted it was Hydaelyn, causing her to lose a little bit of self esteem in her healing abilities)
- During the fight with Bahamut in the coils, Lizzy and the whole team in there, gets wiped out, Phoenix resurrects them using Lizzy as a conduit, resulting in Lizzy’s aether being tainted by Phoenix, permanently altering her limbal ring and hair color to be reddish-orange (Lizzy frequently dyes her hair tips back to blue, as their original state, but whenever she taps into the Phoenix aether, her hair burns the dye back to red)
- After the Banquet, Lizzy loses total faith in her healing abilities and becomes a ninja, she becomes an assassin for hire on the side in ishgard, and gets incredibly good at killing people, she starts going by Lizzy Calaxio at the suggestion of Shio
- After thordan is out of the picture, Lizzy lays an egg thanks to Taraine, and a dragon hatchling is born
- After ishgard opens up, Lizzy gets reunited with Brilliant Caladium, and they swiftly get married (Lizzy get pregnant with twins)
- Lizzy tries to spend as much time as she can with her new family, but the scions ever need their hero, and send Lizzy off to various locations, continuing her information gathering role
- After the Nhaadam, Lizzy gets pregnant again, with triplets, from a newer partner – Hawk
- Lizzy learns how to do black mage things from Suzaku
- Lizzy gets dragged on to the first alongside Shio, despite not being the intended target, while Shio absorbs most of the light from the lightwardens, Lizzy begins siphoning off small amounts to help ease the burden (this temporarily turns Lizzy's hair white with red tips)
- Before Mt Gulg, Lizzy and Sadu share an emergency wedding, resulting in Sadu becoming pregnant (with one kid)
- Lizzy gets assistance from Feo Ul to become a Dark Knight and helps guide Shio through the tempest+
- Lizzy stumbles upon Iremia’s apartment in Amaurot, and Iremia gifts Lizzy a portion of her aether, as well as her knowledge of Psychology, and (a small portion of) her ability to manipulate the emotions of nearby people, as a byproduct Lizzy also gains some memories of ancient times
- After travelling to Sharlayan, Lizzy starts studying there, and begins pioneering the field of Psychology, drowning her in paperwork
