cyberlife putting magnets in connors feet is canon to me now. i left the fandom some time ago, now im back, so i can enjoy all the fanworks that came out while my brainrot was dormant. but im so shocked at how widespread the notion that hankcon is problematic now is. it was the main ship a couple of years ago? and now the main tag is flooded with negativity. and idk if my claims hold any water, but i feel like the dynamics that were quite commonly used for hank x connor now are used for reed900? when did this fandom decide that two characters which 1) appear rarely and only to be an asshole and 2) doesn't even have any lines are a better ship than those two bastards who are literally insane about each other? (none of their interactions are normal, but its so in character for both of them, i love it) anyway, i hope you didnt have to experience any of said negativity and are doing well, cause i loved your fanfics <3

Honestly I forget that Connor’s magnet feet aren’t canon—how that clumsy-ass android who botched a barrel-roll into a first story window managed to keep his feet planted on a moving train is the biggest plot hole in all of DBH.

Welcome back to the fandom! Sometimes I wish I had been here from the very beginning, because even when I showed up in 2020 it was like this. I remember wandering into the ship tag, naive and desperate for conktent, and finding nothing but “hankcon shippers are perverts” and literal comparisons between a thirty year old man and a six year old boy 🥲 I pretty much avoided tumblr entirely because of it and stayed exclusively on twitter the first couple years! (RIP.) I feel like tumblr has actually gotten better since then? That said, in the four years I’ve been here I’ve somehow managed to avoid any direct hate, probably partially through luck and partially because I’m not afraid to use the block button. It’s never personal, it’s just that I am here for one thing and one thing only and that is old man yaoi. I would also advise staying off of ig and tiktok for fandom content because good god, people are MEAN over there.

As for reed900, the ship doesn’t really do much for me personally, but one thing that I really love about it is that it’s basically fanfiction of fanfiction. Like, fans basically created that ship and even their characters out of next to nothing, and made something so compelling that it’s now the fandom’s most popular ship on ao3! That is so cool! As someone who doesn’t care about the DBH canon like, at all, and is way more into the fans’ creations and creativity, I have a deep appreciation for reed900 shippers even if I don’t subscribe to their newsletter. 

I do agree that it’s very similar to the hankcon dynamic, which, who can blame them? It’s a great dynamic. And I don’t begrudge anyone for not wanting to ship Hank and Connor. But when it comes to people who ship reed900 but actively hate hankcon, those who call hankcon disgusting and cry about having to see it while never seeming to take any actual steps to avoid it? I dunno, I smell ageism in their hearts, and to them I say—old people are hot, and it’s not our fault if you have bad taste in men 😌

6. Duplicate Muses. Are ok only if they are part of multimuse blog. I get very anxious when I see a duplicate muse on my dash, minus a few of my friends who I share Fizz and Mammon with. 

7. NSFW. Horny demons, what can I say. Fizz has his moments. All the NSFW themes will be tagged as such.

8. Triggering themes. Such violent and more dark themed rp’s will be tagged as “tw; blood” or “tw; injury”. If I ever miss a trigger warning, please message me. I don’t want to make anyone feel uncomfortable.

9. Shipping. Yes! This blog is multiship! But I only ship with chemistry and would like to know the other mun before anything happens between our boys. Yes, boys. Fizz is not straight. hmm ! honest to god i don't know but i'd like to think im pretty decent when it comes to describing location/scenery/emotions perhaps. maybe not as strong on the dialogue but that's what the no dialogue tag is there for 🫡

yes ! transition scenes are definitely one of many </3 bouncing back and forth with dialogue is also difficult bc i feel weird only having lines of dialogue </3 also writers block is a cruel mistress . rough out here

it's so cool if you do it well 💪 im so uneasy about writing other languages in fics since i only speak english so i don't know if things are correct grammatically or if they even make sense </3 the last thing i want is for it to look like i used google translate </3

ah yeah... that was intentional. old habits die hard i guess? this got a little away from me so i put my extremely long rant under the cut, but tlwr: i try not to tag a lot of shipping stuff as /smosh.

see, i'm not new to the smosh fandom, but i am relatively new to THIS version of the fandom. i came back a couple of months ago but my real heyday was in like. 2018-2020. and we had pretty set rules for how we went about things, and one of the BIG ones was to never put anything ship-related in the main tags (those tags being cast names and the main smosh tag itself).

this was for a couple different reasons; first of all, some of the actual smosh staff was on tumblr (the official smosh blog for one, and i think one of the cast used tumblr at the time?? not sure on that one though as i Cannot remember), and we didn't want them to have to view rpf of themselves in spaces just generally meant for posting about them/their company. like say courtney, for example, goes into the 'courtney miller' tag - there's a difference between seeing a post about her bit in the new tntl and a post about them. fucking ian nasty style. not that there's anything wrong with the latter, just that i am very conscientious about not showing the real person fiction to the real person(s) in question, as was a lot of the smosh fandom.

second of all, not every smosh fan is into rpf. our venn diagram is not a circle. there was a time when i was not a part of the venn diagram. it's why i try to tag every post with 'shipping' and/or 'rpf' when it even vaguely hints at the stuff, so that not everybody has to see it. this isn't exclusive to this topic - i would do that for anything divisive. so, yeah, casual smosh fans scrolling the main tag probably don't want to see my silly ship edits, and i get that!!

since i've returned we obviously have a much different fandom culture - the old smosh blog shut down years ago and i'm fairly certain none of the cast checks tumblr anymore (and if they do and they're reading this: i'd like to apologize and beg for them to block me for both of our sanities). i've also made a few exceptions to my own rule, such as with the incorrect tweets bc i think those can mostly be written off as jokes and the lil au edits though i regret that at times. (i've been considering un-tagging those for a while tbh.) i've also realized recently that the tag 'smosh fic' just gets sorted directly into the 'smosh' tag which is. a pain in the ass. that's not what i said tumblr and you know it. so some of my content has been filtered in there. but you'll notice with the lil clips and text posts i post and stuff i almost never tag it as 'smosh' because. i just don't need people to see it ya know. i've got my people here and that's enough for me <3

that is all to say by the way that the new fandom culture is not BAD. as we all know, i'm very pro-rpf, so seeing rpf out there is great (as long as you know it's not tinhatting etc etc). we also have a very diverse community now with a lot of interesting ships and great fics that i would never have found without casually scrolling through the smosh tag!! it's also easier nowadays to block tags than ever; casual fans can just block the 'shipping' tag and have (relatively) easy access to the smosh tag. so please all of you keep doing you - i'm not your mother and i don't expect you to listen to lil ole me where i live perched up on my soap box. BUT idk if i personally can get over my hang-ups about tags.

i couldnt have said it better myself honestly. thank you for putting what ive been thinking this whole time into words ! i’ve always been of the mindset that people need to curate their own experiences. if something makes them uncomfortable or triggers them just stop interacting with those themes ! block people, block tags, block content — there’s things you can do to protect yourself but if you’re purposefully exposing yourself to themes that you dont like who else is to blame but yourself ? there’s a reason i have warnings on my blog and warnings on each fanfic i post bcus it is important for people to know before reading something that it will contain things that might make a majority of people uncomfortable. so i dont know what else i can do when i have done every thing i can to make people aware of what i post. the only ones at fault are the dumb asses making themselves triggered and uncomfortable by reading my stuff when they know they arent comfy with the themes from the start.

best experience : I’ve had so many. I’ve made so many friends. Some of my best memories was in the little rp group on twitter with my homie Vicious (who writes @kingoftheravens and @mxlevolence ) There was a lot of drama with that group too so it was never boring. Honestly some of my best experiences was on my Mia blog. Just writing a horror character in general is the funnest rp. I feel like the horror rpc is so much more welcoming and chill than a lot of the others. Not to mention all of the crossovers I’ve done on both Alice and Mia. Shout out to @coptm who I adore. Their Freddy and Mia are the my favorite ship so far.

rp pet peeves : Just drama in general. We are writing fiction. Don’t bring personal issues into it. Don’t get mad if blogs trigger you, just don’t follow that blog. There’s a block button. Just don’t start unnecessary drama and make anyone else feel like shit.

fluff, angst, or smut : I still say people need to add a horror category to these things. But out of those 3, angst is my fave. Fluff is always a nice palette cleanser especially for Alice who needs some fluff in her life every now and then. I don’t mind smut, I just suck at writing it. I usually prefer fade to blacks on Alice anyway, if on the very rare occasion she gets intimate with someone. I’ll do smut on Mia but like I said, I suck at writing it. 

plots or memes : Both! I’m better with memes but I can plot every now and then when my brain works.

long or short replies : Either! Some days I’m in the mood for short and sweet but a lot of times I’m over here writing novels
