——————————
A soft smile settled on his face as he listened to you ramble, making sure to intertwine your hands as you exited the cinema, not wanting to lose you in the massive crowd. He made sure to take a deep breath every now and then, reminding himself to play it cool and not be too over the top on the date. "Sorry, I'm rambling a lot-" you apologised, shooting him a nervous smile and a small giggle escaping your lips. He gently squeezed your hand. "no, don’t stop. I like the sound of your voice." You could see that he had a little smile on his face as if he was enjoying listening to everything you were saying. As you left the cinema, his hand gently squeezed yours, almost as if he wanted to hold it tighter than usual. He looked at you with a soft smile, as if he was admiring you. "You're not rambling at all. I love listening to you talk. Grinning widely at him, you kept your hands intertwined as continued walking to his car. "Promise?"
"I promise. I could listen to you talk for hours. you have a beautiful voice." His fingers laced with yours as you continued to walk in the direction of his car. The sun shone down, sending a ray of light directly on the two of you. Taeyong couldn't help but look at you again, taking a deep breath and admiring the moment as his gaze locked with yours. It was almost as if time had stopped and everything was suspended. His heart rate quickened as your hands were laced together. A small smile settled on his lips. Taeyong kept his gaze on you for a moment, slightly smiling as you thanked him for opening the door for you. He helped you get into the car and made sure that the seatbelt was on before he got into the car himself. As he pulled out of the car park, a small smile settled on his lips. He looked at you while he was driving, trying to keep his eyes on the road while at the same time taking a glimpse of you.
As the music played on the car radio, you softly sang along with the song. At times, he joined in on the songs you knew by humming to the lyrics. He gently squeezed your hand every now and then as he continued driving, feeling slightly content as he was able to hear and listen to your beautiful voice. He glanced at you occasionally while he was driving, almost as if his eyes were drawn to you, finding it difficult to take his eyes off you. A warm smile settled on Taeyong's lips every time you sang a song together. The two of you arrived at your house. As he parked and turned the engine off, the music stopped. Taeyong sat quietly for a moment, not knowing whether he should ask you to come over or not and potentially ruin the moment. Instead, he decided to take the risk. "May I come in?" He asked softly.
"Please." you murmured, sharing a gentle smile with him before getting out and unlocking the front door. "My roommates are out so it's just us." Taeyong softly smiled as he watched you unlock the front door. Once you unlocked it, he followed you inside and smiled gently as you told him that it was just the two of you. He took a deep breath, feeling slightly more calm and relaxed now that he knew there wasn't anyone else there. He followed you into the living room, still slightly admiring the moment and the house you lived in.
He was head over heels.
----
It was late at night now and you both had been cuddling and talking while sharing a bottle of wine. It was just the two of you in the living room, feeling very relaxed and content. The silence was only interrupted by your occasional ramblings about random stuff, which he found very amusing. Taeyong took another sip of his wine, slowly getting somewhat tipsy. He looked at you, his gaze locking with yours as if he was admiring your beauty and wanted to admire it for as long as he could. "..Do you want to stay the night?" you murmured softly, brushing hair out of his face. Taeyong's heart rate quickened as he heard you murmur softly, wondering about the idea of spending the night together. He took another sip of his wine, finding it slightly difficult to breathe and process his thoughts. His gaze locked with yours, noticing the movement as you brushed the hair out of his face. His eyes were glued onto you as the idea of him staying the night sank in. He took a deep breath to collect his thoughts. "yes. I would love to… if I may."
"you can stay as long as you like." you whispered, a slight smirk on your face as your forehead rested against his. He softly smiled back as your forehead rested against his, feeling comforted by the sensation. The idea of spending the night together brought butterflies to his stomach, the thought of it both soothing and exciting. He brought his hand up to your cheek, his fingers gently sweeping across your face. "I would like to spend the night… next to you." he murmured back with a slight smirk on his face, his tone filled with a hint of flirtation. "Can I say something that might sound crazy?" you whispered, slightly slurring your words and giggling. Taeyong gently chuckled as you slurred your words, finding your giggles very cute. your question caught his attention as his gaze remained locked on yours, now with a hint of curiosity. "sure, go ahead. you can say whatever you want." he murmured, leaning in towards you slightly as he listened intently to what you were about to say.
"I think I'm falling in love with you." you confessed, cheeks warm from both your words and the alcohol. Taeyong's eyes widened a bit as you confessed to falling in love with him. His blush deepened even more as he gently tilted his head to the side as he listened intently to your words. He felt warm from both the alcohol and your words. He felt his chest flutter from the confession, his heart rate quickening again as he wanted to say the words back to you as well.
"I think I might be falling in love with you too,"

Stuck In Time
Tumblr media
Summary: What if Taeyong and Nari were cursed by a witch to be separated in every reincarnation of Nari's life while he lived as an immortal, constantly seeking for her? Based on Taeyong's drama from SuperM's 'As We Wish'
Many, many, MANY Years Ago...
“Taeyong,” she gasped out as they ran through the forest. “Taeyong, I don’t think I can go any further -”
“We’re almost there, I promise,” the young man assured the female, looking over his shoulder briefly to send her a weak smile. They continued to run, the sound of people yelling and chasing after them slowly fading away. “Okay, let’s rest...”
The two arrived at a clearing in the forest, where the full moon lit down onto them gently. The two collapsed to the ground panting, but otherwise relieved they were able to escape the grasp of the angry crowd that wanted them dead or alive.
“This is all my fault,” she eventually spoke up amongst their silence, staring down at the grass guiltily. “It’s all my fault...”
“Hey, don’t say that!” Taeyong chided, shuffling so he now sat across from her, grabbing her hands gently in his. “It’s not your fault.”
“But if I didn’t bump into you in the markets...”
“I wouldn’t have met the love of my life,” he finished her sentence before she could. “I’m glad to have met you, Nari. Life without you now would be meaningless. We’re not going to let some jealous woman stop us.”
“She’s not just any woman, Taeyong,” she scoffed, pulling her hands away from his much to his dismay. “She’s your fiancée.”
“Not by choice!” he retorted. “It was an arranged marriage, not one I agreed to. You’re the one I want to marry. Ever since we bumped at the markets when you were selling those delicious sweets...” She let out a small giggle at the mention of his sweet tooth, making him smile at her fondly. “Nari...we’ll be okay, I promise. No matter what happens to us, we’ll find our way to each other. Okay?”
“Okay...”
* * *
Many, many, MANY Years later...
The bell chimed, signaling a new customer.
“I come to this place everyday...to see her.”
“Welcome,” the woman barely whispered out, entranced by the handsome man before her. “May I take your order?”
“Just...one cup of Americano,” he answered smoothly in his baritone voice, staring deeply into her eyes. She gulped under the gaze, reluctantly looking down to punch in his order, still feeling his heated stare at her.
“Okay...”
Moments later, the mysterious handsome man sat at a window seat, staring out at the nature surrounding the mini forest they were in, taking an idle sip of his Americano. “See?” the woman’s friend cooed from beside her. “I told you, right? He’s interested in you!”
“No way!” the woman waved off, looking away from her friend embarrassed. She hoped her face wasn’t as red as she pictured it. Ever since the mysterious man entered the café, she’s been feeling warm all over.
“I’m envious...” her friend sighed wistfully. “Did you save a country in your past life? For that kind of man to like you...” As if hearing their conversation from his seat across the room, he connected eyes with the woman again making her freeze. She couldn’t help but be stuck in his gaze. It looked so warm, inviting...and yet, sad.
“I went to that place the next day, and the day after...”
* * *
The bell chimed.
He stood before her with the warm smile.
* * *
The bell chimed.
He stood before her with an umbrella, wet from the light rain that was happening outside.
* * *
The bell chimed.
He stood before her with another warm smile.
“...just to see her.”
* * *
“One cup of Americano, please,” he requested the same order from the last couple of days - weeks - he visited.
And that’s when she couldn’t hold in her silence any longer.
“Excuse me,” she spoke up, his eyes catching hers immediately as if on instinct. She ignored the shivers that went down her spine as she peered into his warm chocolate brown eyes that held small signs of surprise.
“Yes?” he replied quietly.
“Can we talk for a little while?”
* * *
The two moved away from the counter to the table he always sat at, the man leaning against the table rather than sitting down. He stared straight ahead, a distant look on his face as if he was deep in thoughts. She stared at him nervously from beside him, eventually having the confidence to speak up again. She already spoke to him, so there was no going back from it now.
“Excuse me...” she started. “By any chance, is there a reason why you are here everyday?” Actually, it wasn’t really everyday, just whenever she had a shift, basically. Her friend told her that he would only appear when she’s on shift.
A forlorn, melancholy expression crossed his face, twisting his body so he faced her completely. She felt herself hold in a breath as he gave her his undivided attention. “Shall I tell you something?” he proposed quietly. She barely nodded her head. He smiled at her charmingly. “Let’s sit down first, shall we?”
“Ah,” she faltered, glancing to the counter momentarily where she’s meant to be. “I have -”
“It’s okay,” he waved off, looking at someone over her shoulder. “You’re allowed to be with me.”
She followed his gaze to see him looking at the owner of the café who happened to be an elderly woman. Said woman smiled at the two warmly, though sadly, speaking to the customer who approached the counter.
What is happening?
Slowly, she sat across from the man who waited for her patiently. “Okay,” she murmured. “I’m listening...”
* * *
Many, many, MANY years ago...
He stared down at the list of groceries he needed to buy for the upcoming dinner his family were planning to have with his older sister and brother-in-law, pouting when sweets weren’t listed on the paper before him.
With a sigh, he tucked the paper away, planning to walk deeper into the busy market when he was knocked off his feet by a small force. With a grunt, he landed on the ground, a body falling on top of him.
“I’m so sorry!” a light, feminine voice exclaimed, the weight on top of him disappearing, replaced with a hand in his line of sight. “Are you okay? I’m so sorry...”
“I’m okay, I’m okay,” he assured, slowly getting up with the help of the small hand. He dusted himself off, not once making eye contact with the person in front of him. “I should have watched where I was...” When he finally looked up at the person in front of him, he felt his heartbeat stop. There, before him, was the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on. “...going,” he finished lamely.
“I’m really sorry,” the woman fussed, unaware of his dazed expression. “I will make it up to you, I swear! Here! I have sweets!”
“Sweets?” that snapped him out of his daze, looking at the basket that were full of sweet, sugary breads. He felt his mouth water at the sight. “Well, I can’t say no to delicious food...”
The woman giggled cutely as he grabbed a bread from her basket, smiling at him gently when she realised how handsome he was. He was about to take a giant bite of the bread when he noticed her gaze on him, flustering him. “I’m Taeyong,” he introduced shyly, lowering the bread from his lips.
“I’m Nari,” she replied back. “Nice to meet you...”
* * *
“Taeyong, we have some wonderful news for you!”
“Really?” Taeyong peered up from his dinner curiously. His parents and sister glanced to one another excitedly before facing him with bright smiles.
“You’re getting married!” his mother exclaimed. He leaned back in his chair in surprise.
“With who?” His mind flickered to the woman he fell in love with after a year of hanging out with each other.
“With the blacksmith’s daughter, of course!” his father chortled. “The fairest maiden out there in our town!”
“Her?”
She wasn’t Nari.
* * *
“Taeyong, I don’t think this is a good idea -”
“Nari, I would rather be disowned from my family than marry a woman I don’t love,” Taeyong shook his head, grabbing hold of her hands so he could press a chaste kiss to her knuckles. Although it made her cheeks flare up, she didn’t let that affect her at that moment.
“Taeyong, this is serious. I can’t let you leave your family because of me - and when Meredith finds out you don’t want to marry her -”
“She already knows.”
“What!”
“I don’t care about her opinion! She’s just a spoilt bully anyway!”
“Taeyong, we can’t!” Nari sniffled. “We can’t...Your family...”
“Nari...” He leaned his forehead against hers, making sure they held eye contact despite the tears that were making their sight blurry. “Marry me. Run away with me. Please. Let’s start somewhere new like we always dreamed of. A new town, a new start. Please...be with me.” With the overflowing love he was expressing through his heated gaze and words, how could she not fall for him over again?
* * *
“Taeyong,” she gasped out as they ran through the forest. “Taeyong, I don’t think I can go any further -”
“We’re almost there, I promise,” the young man assured the female, looking over his shoulder briefly to send a weak smile her way. They continued to run, the sound of people yelling and chasing after them slowly fading away. “Okay, let’s rest...”
The two arrived at a clearing in the forest, where the full moon lit down onto them gently. The two collapsed to the ground panting, but otherwise relieved they were to escape the grasp of the angry crowd that wanted them dead or alive.
“She’s your fiancee.”
“Not by choice!” he retorted. “It was an aranged marriage, not one I agreed to. Okay?”
“Okay...”
“Good luck with that.”
The two gasped, whirling around to see the woman Taeyong was meant to marry, seething with jealousy and fury. “Meredith!” they gasped, struggling to their feet. Taeyong pushed Nari’s body behind him, making sure she was covered by his body.
“You dare reject me for some peasant like her!” Meredith screeched, approaching the two slowly as they backed away from her. Suddenly, fire emerged from the woman’s hands making them gasp.
“You’re a witch!” Nari gasped, peering over Taeyong’s form fearfully. “You should be the one chased after, not me!”
The reason why the couple were running away from an angry crowd was because Meredith had caught the two in their alone time one day, and furious and jealous, Meredith had spread news to the town that Nari was a witch, and that she had bewitched Taeyong to fall for her.
“Meredith, no...” Taeyong warned. “I’m sorry, but I can’t marry you.” He looked behind him at Nari, giving her a small but loving smile. “I’m meant for Nari. We love each other.”
“That’s what you think...” the fire disappeared from the woman’s hands, replaced instead with a dark purple swirl of smoke. She threw it at the two of them - specifically, at Taeyong. A different coloured smoke was thrown towards Nari when Taeyong was distracted. “From now on, Taeyong, you will be stuck in time, chasing after the woman you so-call love.”
“No!” Nari gasped, grabbing Taeyong just in time before he could fall to the ground for the curse cast upon him.
“And you!” Meredith’s fiery gaze turned to the other woman. “You will not remember him in the next future lives until too late!” She gave the couple a leering smile. “Let’s start this curse, shall we?” On cue, the angry crowd they had ran away from appeared, separating the two.
“Nari!”
“Taeyong!” the two cried out for one another, struggling to run back into each other’s arms.
“Nari!” he called out through his struggle, looking at the crying woman from a small distance. “No matter what, I will find you, and we’ll be together, I promise!”
“Taeyong!” she cried, trying to reach him to no avail.
“I’ll find you!” he repeated over the chaos that surrounded the two. “No matter where we are in the future, I will find you! I promise!”
* * *
“There was a man who went to a café everyday because he fell for a woman...”
* * *
1960
“What would you like to order?” the woman asked the young, mysterious man. He didn’t answer her, trapped by her beauty despite having visited the place numerous times to see her. Despite seeing her every day, he could feel himself fall all over again for her. Although it pained him to see her not know him, he didn’t mind because in the end, she always found her way back to him.
“She was dazzling...”
Trapped in his thoughts, Taeyong only snapped out of it when she decided to walk away from him. “Excuse me...” he called to her, barely hiding the panic in his voice. She turned to him curiously. “I’ve fallen for you,” he confessed plainly, much to the woman’s surprise. “I like you.”
Although she only spoke to him to get his order every day, she couldn’t help but fall for him as well as the days went by. The thought of the handsome, mysterious man that all women were pining over fancied her? Sounded like a dream.
She couldn’t help the bright smile that crossed her lips, her eyes almost closing from the smile that Taeyong always fell throughout the different eras that passed during his time of walking the Earth. “We’re on the same page, then.” she stated happily.
* * *
“We’ll find our way back to each other, okay?” he promised to the dying woman before him. “Just like the many times before...I will always find you.”
“You must be tired,” the sick Nari whispered. “Always searching the planet for the next me...”
“Never,” he shook his head, pressing a kiss to her cold knuckles. “I will never give up on you. On us.”
“I’m sorry you have to go through this...” she sniffled, her heart breaking for the man that chased for her over and over again throughout the many eras. “Now cancer is taking me away from you...”
“It’s okay,” he assured, her leaning forward to kiss her temple. “I’m just glad to have found you again.”
“Surely, there must be a spell to break this curse? To have us reunite finally without any memory loss, without any deaths?”
“I will find the spell to break our curse, no matter what,” he vowed. “I will find a way for us to be together at last. But for now, rest, okay? You’re tired, I can see that. Rest, my love, and I will see you soon.”
“Don’t keep me waiting,” she joked lightly, making him laugh through his tears.
“Never,” he repeated his word from earlier, giving her one last kiss to her lips before she slept forever.
* * *
“For the past 600 years, I only live in the present.”
* * *
He smiled at her lovingly, reuniting with her again for what seemed like the millionth time in his life.
* * *
“Even though I can’t go back...”
* * *
He entered the familiar café that continued to stay despite the many years that passed, connecting eyes with the next version of the love of his life.
* * *
“I don’t regret my decision.”
* * *
2020 - Present time
He smiled at the woman before him, watching as she slowly started to gain her memories from the many generations that passed for the two.
“Now I will...protect her until the end.”
He sat up straighter in his seat once he saw her eyes clear up from it’s temporary glazed expression, his brown doe eyes staring into her watery ones.
“Nari?” he hesitantly called out.
“Oh, Taeyong...” She remembered him. “How long has it been?”
“It’s only been twenty years the last time we reunited,” he relayed to her, leaning forward to reach across the table for her hands. “The time span is getting shorter.”
“Does that mean something? Do we not have anymore time?” she asked concerned.
“The opposite, my dear...” He gave her a wide smile, leaning down to kiss her knuckles like usual. “I found it, Nari, I finally found the spell that will break our curse and bring us together.”
“Really?” she beamed, a tear managing to escape her eyes. He stretched out to wipe it away gently with his thumb.
“Really,” he confirmed. “I told you we would finally have our happy ending, didn’t I?”
And a happy ending they received.
* * *
5 years later...
“-and they lived happily ever after,” the elderly woman finished, smiling softly at her granddaughter who stared into the distance with a wistful look.
“Wow,” said granddaughter sighed as she leaned against the counter, “Although I’ve heard this story numerous times growing up, I never heard that last bit of the story before...” She turned back to her grandmother curiously. “So what happened? How did they get their happy ending?”
“Well, they visited the witch that Taeyong found during his adventures, who was able to break the curse on the two,” the grandmother recited. “The witch was able to make Taeyong grow old with the love of his life, the dream they always wished for. Do you want to know a secret?” The grandmother leaned closer to the younger woman to whisper into her ear. “They still visit the café where they would always reunite throughout the years.”
“Really?” the woman gasped. “Wait...how? Isn’t this just a story?”
“Oh, my dear, you didn’t listen to the story carefully,” the grandmother chuckled. “I mentioned earlier, they met in the present time now...”
“Present time now?” she echoed. “I don’t...”
The bell chimed, signaling a customer.
“Ah, hello, dears!” the grandmother chirped happily. “The usual for you two?”
“Yes, please,” a baritone voice chuckled from near the granddaughter. “One cup of Americano for me, hot chocolate for the Missus, and banana bread.”
“But add an extra slice of your lovely banana bread, please?” a light soprano voice chimed. “Our little boy here is craving for some sweets. Just like his father...” The granddaughter turned her head to see a beautiful couple, the woman holding an adorable five-year-old boy who looked like a perfect mix of his parents. They were simply glowing with happiness.
“Of course!” the grandmother chuckled. “On the house like usual, my dears.”
“Thank you!”
“The three of you are simply glowing,” the grandmother complimented them. “I’m glad you guys are happy now.”
“Thank you,” the couple chorused happily. After ordering, the family of three walked to a table beside the window, the grandmother and granddaughter watching the three.
“Darling,” the granddaughter tore her attention away from the family to look at her grandmother’s knowing gaze. “Have you connected the dots yet?”
“The dots -?”
“Mama!” she heard the boy call from behind her. “Story! Story!”
“Ah, our story?” the mother giggled. “Well, as you know, this café holds a special meaning to us...”
“No matter how long it’s been, I would always find your mother in this beautiful, small café that was surrounded by the very forest where our love grew all those years ago...” the father added on.
She connected the dots.
“No...” the granddaughter’s jaw dropped, her head snapping to the happy family again, eyes wide in disbelief. She faced her grandmother’s amused expression. “Are they - are they - really?”
“How else would I know the ending to the story?” the grandmother retorted. “Like you said, you grew up with this story that was told from generation to generation, with no complete ending...”
“And this café has been opened for many years and passed down from our family...” the granddaughter finished. She whipped her head around to face the family again who were now looking at her, smiling softly. Their eyes...they were so warm, but held a certain gleam that showed they were older than they seemed, as if they’ve experienced a lot in their life...
“They really got their happy ending,” the granddaughter exclaimed in disbelief. “You-You saw their happy ending!”
“Yes, now stop staring at them!” she was whacked on the back of her head by a wet rag from her grandmother. “You know staring is rude! Back to work now!”
“But-But!” the granddaughter protested, following after her retreating grandmother. “But it’s them! I grew up listening to their story, and they’re here right now! Does Mum know?”
* * *
The two giggled as they watched the owner of the special café talk with her granddaughter, the couple sending each other knowing looks.
After staying in the cafe for a few hours, in sync, the two stood up, Taeyong grabbing their son this time as they returned to the counter to return their empty dishes.
“-but it’s them -!”
“Thank you for the hospitality, like always,” Taeyong spoke up, interrupting the granddaughter mid-sentence. Said woman snapped her mouth shut, staring at them with awe. “We’ll be back next year like usual.”
“You’re welcome,” the grandmother nodded warmly. “And I say congratulations again for your happy ending on behalf of my ancestors who watched the two of you in your journey. You deserved it.”
“Thank you for looking after this café until now,” Nari added. “We’ll always visit.”
“I’ll see you three next year, then. Hopefully with the new addition?” Nari blushed, staring down at her still flat stomach. Nari wasn’t glowing just because she was happy, as it turned out. Once a mother, you would always know the signs. Taeyong beamed happily from beside the love of his life, leaning forward to kiss Nari on the temple.
And with that, the happy family walked out of the café.
“Now,” the grandmother grinned at the shell-shocked woman beside her. “This is quite a story to tell your children, eh?”

✰ SEYEON'S MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
It’s already midnight when Seyeon is hunched over a plate of grapes at a kitchen counter in the 5th-floor dorm. Doyoung bought grapes and refused to share that information with her and the other 10th-floor members, so Seyeon had to take matters into her own hands and eat them before Doyoung could even take a look at them.
Her elbows rest on the counter as she inspects each grape in her fingers before she pops them into her mouth. It’s dark. There’s one dim kitchen light, but it’s more of a shadow, and the city lights sparkle behind the window. The cold wooden floor sucks on her bare feet and it travels to her exposed legs, but Seyeon doesn’t mind. The faint ticking of the clock and water running from the shower in the bathroom fill the emptiness, but there is something else.
Behind her, Taeyong is sitting on the living room couch, drilling holes in the back of Seyeon’s head for a good few minutes.
“Gonna ask or keep staring?” Her voice resonates through the silence.
Taeyong licks his lips before he answers. “What did you do before you joined SM?”
“I lived in the US.”
He nods, although she can’t see it. “I know. New York, right? How was it?”
She lifts her gaze up for a moment, stares at the white ceiling, and angles her body toward him with a shrug. “Alright. Y’ know, it’s New York. It’s okay. I mean, there’s trash and rats everywhere, but hey! The Statue of Liberty is nice, if y-“
“Seyeon.” He looks straight at her and she stares back at his frown. Her hand, which was resting on the kitchen counter, is now holding onto it. “I’m not asking about New York. I’m asking about you. You never talk about yourself.”
She finally fully faces him. Her feet cross on the wooden tiles and hips rest against the counter. She hides her hands in the pockets of her hoodie and chuckles. “What’s there to talk about? Wanna hear about me chasing rats?” She laughs, but there’s a hint of mockery in her voice.
Taeyong’s stare is sealed on her face. His expression is stone-like.
“Some members feel like they don’t know you.”
Seyeon doesn’t say anything. She doesn’t move and doesn’t look away. She is as stoic as Taeyong.
“Who did you talk to?”
“That’s not important, but it’s not just me. It’s hard to ignore your behavior.”
She looks to the side. Her jaw relaxes as quickly as it tightens. “It’s not true. You guys know me.” Her voice is convincing, but not enough for Taeyong. He gets up from the couch.
“We know you, but we don’t know anything about you.”
He wipes his nose with his fingers. His shoulders drop and he’s staring at her with a mother-like worry. Even his voice sounds like that, despite being shaky.
Seyeon hates it.
“If you want to be coworkers, it’s fine, but you’re a part of our team and you need to be open with us.”
Seyeon shakes her head, but her eyes grow stern on Taeyong. “We’re not just coworkers.”
“Then talk to us. Seyeon, I asked you a simple question, and you ditched it.”
“I know.”
“Is everything okay?” Taeyong hides his hands in the pockets of his pants. His voice is laced with sincerity, and his big eyes stare at hers with concern.
“Yeah.”
Her response is light, but the longer Taeyong stares at her, the more confidence her eyes lose. They wander around the dark room. She can only see the shapes of furniture, but at the moment, she prefers that over Taeyong’s pity.
“Seyeon.” Taeyong’s voice cuts through the silence. Half of his body is gone behind the wall. Seyeon’s head turns to him with the same unreadable expression. “If it’s a personal matter, I can’t tell you anything. But, we’ve been a team for more than a year and we will be for a long while. So, as a leader,” his eyes flicker to her feet before he gives a final look at her face, “whatever it is, rip the bandaid off. Please. For our team’s sake.”
He lingers long enough for his words to settle into the dark room, then disappears in the hallway. Seyeon’s head hangs low and her fingers curl inside her pockets. She gulps.
For our team’s sake.

A few nights later, Seyeon returns to the 5th-floor dorm.
The conversation with Taeyong lingered in her mind like a rabbit jumping in and out of its underground tunnels. She had expected a confrontation—the members aren’t stupid and she could only go so long avoiding any not-work-related interaction—but she thought she could ride that wave longer.
That night, Taeyong left her no choice. She can’t risk hindering the group’s dynamics and she can’t keep lying to them. If she chose to live this life, she should man up and go in on it.
The dorm is pitch black until Seyeon’s eyes adjust to the darkness. It’s quiet, too; the floor is barely creaking under Seyeon’s bare feet. The cold from her damp hair makes her exposed legs shiver. She walks to the kitchen first. Her eyebrows raise at the sight of clean counters. She has grown used to the mess on the 10th floor, it’s strange to see the sink not filled with dirty dishes. She opens the fridge. The light casts a shadow on her face, making her eyes squint before she inspects each shelf. A bottle of beer is hidden behind some leftovers, so she takes it, opens it with her teeth, and closes the fridge. It’s probably Taeyong’s.
With the beer in hand, Seyeon walks toward his room. A “Come in!” reaches her ears as soon as she knocks on the door.
Taeyong is seated at his desk across the door. The blue light from the computer screen is illuminating his face and a lamp in the corner of his room is lighting the place. He is staring at her, a little confused. He still has makeup on from the day, but the dark circles under his eyes are now peaking through the layers of concealer.
“Hi.”
Seyeon shuts the door behind her and sits cross-legged on his bed, placing the beer in her legs. She catches the quick side eye Taeyong gives her and looks at him. “What?”
He licks his lips and shakes his head. “Just… don’t spill the beer, please.”
She stares at him for a second before a smirk appears on her lips. “Got it. No wet bed tonight.”
Taeyong chuckles, but then his expression turns unreadable. He watches water drip from her hair onto his sheets and takes a deep breath. She’s making a mess. Taeyong looks back at Seyeon’s face, but she is already staring ahead, eyes unfocused, and sips on the drink he bought yesterday. Taeyong takes another deep breath. The words linger on the tip of his tongue. He looks at her face and opens his mouth to say something and that’s when he stops himself.
Seyeon’s lips are pressed into a thin line. Her gaze isn’t just unfocused, it’s distant. Her back is hunched and her slim fingers play with the bottle. Although she has just showered, she looks the opposite of refreshed.
Taeyong knows why Seyeon is here. He is starting to figure out how she works, so he turns back to his computer but leaves his body angled toward her.
Seyeon takes longer them either of them expected. She shifts restlessly on the bed, lying on her back, side, stomach, back to sitting. Her fingers fidget with her clothes, hair, even her toes, and Taeyong’s sheets, and the silence between them only stretches with her wandering eyes. By the time Seyeon speaks, most of her beer is gone and Taeyong’s eyes are red from rubbing them too many times.
“I never wanted to be an idol.”
Taeyong’s hand pauses over the keyboard. His head twitches toward her and his eyes immediately find her face. He slowly turns his chair toward his bed, facing her.
“Had no singing or dancing skills… never even thought of it,” she says with a half-smile. “Like a week after I came to Korea, though, this one woman basically stalked me,” she chuckles, making quick eye contact with Taeyong. “She was everywhere I was, I have no idea how. And she’d always come up to me and ask ‘Do you want to be famous?’, ‘You have potential’, ‘You should be a celebrity’, shit like that—I was 10 years old, it was fucking weird—she just kept telling me to audition. I’d just ignore her, but one time I thought she’d leave me alone if I go.”
A smile lingers on Seyeon’s flushed face, but it’s paired with a light frown like she’s judging her own words. She glances at Taeyong long enough to catch his reaction without eye contact. He is staring at her with a kind of pureness in his eyes. He stays silent. Seyeon takes a sip of the beer and continues.
“It was a random day in a week. I dunno, maybe Thursday? Doesn’t matter. But the moment I entered the building,” her eyes widen, “everyone was staring. Everyone knew who I was, I could tell. It was so fucking weird. And it was around the time ‘Tell Me’ by Wonder Girls was released, so I learned the choreography and sang it. It was terrible.” She pauses, shaking her head. “It was so bad.”
A soft smile graces Taeyong’s face and his head tilts to the side. “You were always the best trainee. I couldn’t be that bad.”
“Deadass.” She stares at him. “I mean, you know, I did my worst on purpose, but oh my fucking God…” Her palm lands on her lips to cover her open mouth. “I gave them the laziest performance ever. And—you know how they are—they were so silent. The air was so awkward, they were staring at me and I could barely see their faces because of the lights. The atmosphere was so weird, so I thought I tricked them and scared them away. They brought a contract instead.”
Taeyong’s mouth drops open.
“They signed you right away?”
Seyeon nods. “After ten years, that moment is still the fastest I’ve ever seen them work.”
Taeyong lets out an airy laugh. He shifts in his chair, resting his intertwined fingers on his lap and letting his spine melt into the leather. “When they cast me, I said I’ll audition if they buy me food. They agreed.” His smile falters a little. “It was a little weird, but,” his voice gets weaker, “I had no choice.”
All this time, Taeyong thought he and Seyeon were far from similar. But with the way Seyeon stares at him now, silent and free of any judgment with such deep understanding in her eyes, he thinks she knows exactly what he means. He doesn’t have to say anything more, because she knows what it means to be desperate. He feels seen—not as an idol or a leader—as a person with wounds and scars. He thinks he sees the same in her.
Still, it’s too much to handle. Taeyong clears his throat. “If you didn’t want to be an idol, why didn’t you leave?”
Seyeon’s jaw tightens. Her fingers intertwine around the bottle between her legs and her eyes jump to the computer screen behind Taeyong. She gulps and nods toward it. “Open YouTube. I wanna watch something.”
Taeyong stares at her blankly. “Now?”
“Yeah,” she says in a flat tone.
He can press on further and point out how she ignored his question. He can send her away and finally go to sleep. But after four years of knowing each other, this is the first time Seyeon has ever voluntarily spent time with him. For the first time since their debut, Seyeon initiated a conversation that was more than small talk or job-related. It’s not worth the risk, at least not tonight.
Taeyong does what she says. He scrolls for a minute until any video catches his eye. When it does, he looks at her for approval, and she nods. They watch the video in silence. Seyeon lies on his bed, and Taeyong slides down on his chair and puts his feet on the edge of the seat, wrapping his arms around his calves.
That night, Seyeon falls asleep before she can walk back to her dorm. She occupies most of Taeyong’s bed and still has the—now empty—beer bottle in her hand. He watches one or two more videos before he turns the computer off.
Taeyong’s gaze shifts to Seyeon with a sigh. He walks to her, takes the bottle from her grasp, and puts it on his desk. He gently shoves Seyeon’s limp body to the side of the bed and lies down on the empty side.
His cheek presses into the pillow and his body melts into the mattress. It’s a single-sized bed, but there’s just enough space for either of them. Their backs gently press into each other, and as Taeyong listens to Seyeon’s muffled breaths, he lets his eyes close. It’s a little strange to be this close to Seyeon. It’s the first time her guard is not up in front of Taeyong or any of the members, even more so now that she is asleep. It’s new, but oddly comfortable. For the first time, he doesn’t mind having wrinkled sheets.
Before he falls into slumber, Taeyong hopes that none of them will regret tonight.

a lonely flight in Milan, or, when the daylight shines in Baguio (lty)

Pairing: Taeyong (NCT) x fem! Reader Tags: Modern AU, Mutual Pining, Strangers to Friends to Lovers, Eventual Relationships, and Light Angst Also very much self-indulgent Warnings: None Word Count: 7,478 words Summary: People come and pass by, some stay, some don't, and some left a remainder of their lives to us. A/N: So, I had these fic idea based on the movie I have watched on Netflix the other day! So I thought why I not write yet another self-indulgent birthday fic like I used to. And if you know the reference of this fic, well, it is based on ‘That Thing Called Tadhana.’ But then again, this is loosely inspired from that movie, and I added my own elements a la eurydicesflower. The airport staff have been looking at you with worried looks. You're already frowning to the bone as you discard your stuff from your luggage. You really don't have any other choice but to throw away half of your clothes to the airport trash bin. Your luggage exceeds more than 23 kilograms and your luggage weighs 30 kilograms. You deeply sigh as you throw away the stuffed toy dog into the trash. Your lovely thongs? Down the trash. “Fuck this life.” You curse under your breath as you tuck in your luggage again so you can weigh it again.
You have been doing this for the last 30 minutes now. And if the weighing scale would not allow you again to board the plane, you are ready to burst out in flames. When you weigh your luggage again, you grit your teeth in annoyance because your luggage was only more than two kilograms, meaning you will be throwing more of your clothes in the trash. You curse under your breath as you drag away your luggage. Here you go again, beside your buddy for tonight, the trash bin.
“Miss?”
Someone calls your attention. You are about to lash at him, but you decided that it was not worth all of your energy now that you had poured all of it on discarding your clothes.
“You seemed like you needed help with your luggage?”
You gaze on your luggage and look up at him, saying: ‘No shit.’
You turn your back against him and you hear the man before you sigh, and crouches down to level with you.
“I can help you with your luggage. You can put most of your things on mine since I don't have much.”
You turn your attention to him again, and he shows his luggage. It was a smaller one compared to yours. It was a pink one with numerous cartoon stickers on it. You recognize characters from Spongebob to Howl from Howl’s Moving Castle.
“Why are you helping me? Do we have the same flight?” You asked.
“You’re going to Manila, too, right? So, I guess helping someone wouldn’t harm me in any way.”
You slowly nodded your head, but you are still skeptical of the man.
“You’re not a killer, are you? Are you sure you're not going to kill me?” You look up to him, and to your surprise, the man laughs heartily, and his eyes crinkle when he smiles. You roll your eyes at him but the moment you stare at him for a moment, maybe because of the stress, you don't bother looking at the man’s face. But the more you stare at him, that man was so fucking handsome as hell. It was not an exaggeration because who would have thought that you will encounter a man like him in a fucking public airport? Like who would have thought that of all places, you will meet a man that is sculpted by the gods itself, handcrafted like he had come from a webtoon with the mix of elvish and angelic look in a public place like this?
‘Excuse my language but who the fuck are you?’ You mumble out loud in awe.
You don't seem to realize that he had heard what you said, and he extended his hand to you, and introduced himself.
“Taeyong Lee at your service, ma’am. I have friends in Manila right now and I had to meet them there before I go back to Seoul in one week. I promise you that I won’t kill you. Did that help?” He smiled with his eyes.
“That’s what killers say, though…” You told him as you shook hands with him and told your name while still giving a skeptical look.
“And that’s what killers often say, too.” His smile grew even more as you rolled your eyes but it made your lips curl into a small smile.
“So, now that we are acquainted, let's start repacking, shall we?” He said before you proceeded with moving your things from the trash bin to his luggage.
The man, no, Taeyong’s company made your night bearable after the stressful time you had in Milan. Normally, you don’t trust anyone, and of course you wouldn’t forget the saying ‘Don’t talk to strangers,’ but what if that stranger has genuine intentions? Though, you know for sure if you let your guard down, maybe this man was lying and he would just proceed to kill you right now and stuff your dead body inside your luggage and then—
“Hey, you’re zoning out, you okay?” He asks, snapping you away from your fleeting thoughts.
You found yourself nodding quickly and mumbling ‘I’m fine,’ as you helped him move your things onto his small luggage. All those thoughts slowly disappearing, you surprisingly enjoyed the stranger’s presence.
-
You are seated by the window during the plane ride. Beside you, there was Taeyong who was taking a nap. You don’t know what to talk about so instead, you put on your earphones so you can listen to music. As you open your music app in shuffle, coincidentally, it is playing Cornelia Street by Taylor Swift, specifically the Live from Paris Version. Your tears are now building up in your eyes as you listen to the song.
You are once again brought back by the memories you had with your ex-fiancé.  You sang the lyrics as you started to cry out loud. He was the one who had dedicated this song to you. You could remember his acoustic guitar, and singing to you at dusk during your second anniversary. He even brought you your favorite strawberry cake, and celebrated under the stars. He was a romantic, and you fell through him.
You love him for what he was worth, and you had hoped he was the same. And all those years you believed him, did he ever really love you?
You don’t seem to notice that Taeyong gave you a box of tissues not until it was placed down on your lap. You looked at him, and held back your tears.
“Oh, I don’t need it—”
“You need it. Go on,” he said, not taking the tissue box from you.
Even though you refused to take it from him, sooner or later, you will cry after you repeat the song more than five times now. And the tissue box? It’s almost half empty, wiping all of your tears and snot. Taeyong only looks at you with pity, though, he didn’t say anything nor tease you. He gives you space to let out all of your emotions until you have used up all of your energy which in the end, you are now leaning against him as you fall asleep completely.
-
For fuck's sake, do people not have any shame doing PDAs? That’s just plain rude and insensitive. You grimace at the couple and say, “Go take the Taxi first. I think you two needed a room now.”
You roll your eyes at bitterness.
“Aren’t you going home now?” Taeyong stands beside you as you wait for another taxi to come in.
Being patient is an understatement for the man beside you because Taeyong had been with you from the Milan airport until you waited for your baggage at the Manila airport. He was not asking questions unless you talked about life stories with him. And for a guy like him, you didn’t know why he was sticking with you even after you gave him snarky retorts after a long flight from Milan to Manila.
“I don’t want to go home yet...” You confess as you stare down at the taxis in front of you. You don’t want to go home yet. Not now. You can’t just show your face at home. It feels like there is something you wanted to do, but you just can’t seem to know what it is, so now here you are at the airport, giving side-eyes at every couple you see.
“Then, why don’t we go find something to eat first?”
The moment he asked that, your tummy rumbled. You didn’t argue at him anymore because you were already hungry, so now you two were at a Japanese restaurant. You were the one who suggested it since you are craving tempura and sushi, and here was Taeyong together with your little trip.
“What did you even do back in Milan? Like why are you there in the first place?” You asked curiously. You don’t know a thing about him ever since you two met in Milan. Although obviously, this was the first time you two have met.
“Now you wanted to ask about me?”
“Of course, at least I know something about you before you can kill me.” You roll your eyes at him while he scoffs playfully before he shakes his head at your morbid remark.
“I was there for a job because my client wants me to be there in Milan.” He starts off with a small shrug.
“Woah, you’re big time. What do you even do for a living when you have a client based in Milan?”
“I’m a graphic designer. And yes, I design.” He cuts you off before you tease him. “And coincidentally, I just found out that my friend was there and he was one of the models there in that same agency. We decided to catch up there while we were not too busy with both of our jobs.” He shares casually, and shows some of his sample works with you from his phone.
One of the pictures had caught your attention when you noticed that one of the female models seemed familiar to you. You kept on staring at it for like five seconds not until Taeyong asked if something’s wrong.
“No, no, I’m fine…” You smile at him and steer away the conversation even if you know there will be more questions inside his mind.
“Since you’re an artist then? So, what are your hobbies?” You look at him with curiosity while you move your hand under your chin.
“What is this? A job interview? Do I even get hired for your company, ma’am?” He raises a brow while a small curl tugged on his lips as he looks at you. Meanwhile, you throw an unused napkin on his chest to rub that cheeky smirk on his face.
“I am just asking and I am curious.” You pout, and he just laughs it off.
“Well, I have these tattoos that I designed.” He rolled up his sleeves and showed some of his tattoos.
“I never knew that you had tattoos.”
That’s because he was wearing a long-sleeved white button-down shirt. Of course, I wouldn’t see it.
“Yeah, you can take a look.” He shows his left and right arm respectively to you. On his left arm, it has a tattoo of a cartoon dog, and a shooting star. You can’t just describe all of the tattoos but he does really have a bunch of them. There was even a rabbit balloon tattoo on his right arm. “I also have the word ‘understand’ on the back of my arms.”
“Meaning?”
“Meaning I try to be someone who tries to understand people,” he says.
“That’s… profound...” You mumble in awe and he nods.
“And I also forgot to mention that I have one on my sternum.” He points at the middle of his chest.
“You had a tattoo there?” You scoff unbelievably.
“You are a pervert.” He grins widely when he sees the flustered look in your face but you are quick to dismiss his comment. “Excuse me? You are the one who told me you had one on your chest.” You scoff as you cross your arms as Taeyong smiles cheekily at you.
“Do you want to see it then?”
Before you can even bite back a snarky refusal, he unbuttons his white shirt and shows you his twin dragon tattoo on his sternum. You didn’t even try to stop him, you just stared at it like it was the expensive dress you saw at a boutique in Milan. ‘It’s beautiful,’ you muttered to yourself.
“Does that hurt? I’ve read that when you have a tattoo there, it's one of the most painful parts...” You ask in a hush tone, curiosity laced in your voice.
“Well, I slept through it so I don’t think it hurts.” He shrugs before buttoning his shirt back. “So, are you happy you saw a stranger's tattoo?” He asks, and once again there was that lopsided smirk on his lips that you wanted to wipe off of his face.
“Shut up.” You smiled at him either way, and proceeded to eat your dinner when it had arrived.
-
You insist on ordering a bottle of beer, but you don’t seem to realize that you’re about to have your seventh bottle of beer with you. You don’t even know if Taeyong was drinking with you, and the fact that he hadn’t left you, you don’t know why. Instead of leaving you alone in the restaurant, he was out here with you, listening to your ramblings about your pathetic fiancé. You tell him all about your ex. You tell Taeyong all the things that made you fall for him and all the things you love about him, and all the reasons why you are so stupidly in love with him.
“That man... He's the one I was supposed to marry yaknow...” you slurred. “For eight years. Eight fucking years, we've been together and he fucking cheated on me on fucking Milan of all places.” You chuckle bitterly as you recall the day you saw him there. You even dressed to the nines. Donning your hard-earned Prada black satin dress, and Dior pump, you went to his place where he was staying there and then instead of seeing your ex-fiancé alone, he was with another woman. He was supposed to be the one surprised, not his mistress and it was absolutely not your own fiancé.
People are right about trauma dumping on strangers especially when you had liquor on your side. The story comes out of your mouth automatically, and it felt good telling all your problems to him that night. Letting out your grievances onto someone you don’t know never felt so good and that night, you felt you were not being judged by him.
“That's because you love him,” he said in between your rants.
“Love him? Yeah, I may love him but I am fucking stupid enough to love him. Fuck him. But yeah… I love him… I love him… Jae… I miss him…” You choke out a sob as you take another swig of your beer. You don't count how many beers you have drunk already but you are sure that you're about to pass out and vomit the last food you ate.
“Do you know where Baguio is? Because I want to go to Baguio.” You grin sheepishly at the man beside you. The only thing you remember before you completely pass out was you finally vomited on the gutter and Taeyong was comforting you, and he never left your side.
-
You woke yourself up seated at a bus seat with a blanket wrapped around you.
‘Oh, fuck now where am I?’ You quickly blink your eyes as you scan the surroundings, and your eyes fall on the man you met at the airport.
“Where the fuck are we? Where are you taking me?”
“Milan.”
“Fuck you.”
He just grins at you and you roll your eyes.
“You know I am gullible you know.” You grumble in annoyance and wrap the blanket even tighter around your arms. You turn to your right side and rest your head against the window so that you can ignore the man beside you. But even if you ignore him, you can’t shake away the unnerving thought about going home and not going on a road trip with a stranger you met at the airport.
“Where are we going?”
“You told me you wanted to go to Baguio so I messaged one of my friends about it, and told me to go to the nearest bus station so now we’re on the way to Baguio.”
“I said that? We’re going to Baguio? When?”
“I don’t think you’ll remember but you told me that last night.”
Your head was still throbbing from the hangover, and it didn’t help when Taeyong had told you that this was your idea to go on a road trip on the way to Baguio.
“By the way let me ask you something: What’s in Baguio?”
You sighed deeply, and massaged your head. “Stop asking me questions.”
“Okay.” He shut his mouth afterwards.
You thank him silently before you focus your eyes on the plantains you pass by. You count the cows, and the goats you see until you get bored and finally decide to answer Taeyong’s question.
Well, Baguio is where he and I had our first date on our first anniversary. So, we decided to celebrate there.” You started. “Baguio was very special to me, but now…”
“Do you want Baguio to revisit those old memories?”
You bit the inside of your cheek. You can’t just tell everything to Taeyong but apparently you have told almost all of your life to someone like him who had only been your companion since last night. And maybe this was just like a start of something new, and maybe the universe was just acting upon its powers and made you meet this kind of man— charming yet quite intriguing in a way that you didn’t even feel anything suspicious because there was just something that you couldn’t explain. That something was already on the tip of your tongue.
“Maybe I just wanted to make new ones and replace those bad memories?” You trail off your words. “Like I don’t know if you’re familiar with how a female lead in romcoms do— when they tend to get broken hearted because of their ex and then they will go soul searching— just like that. I wanted to do something like that.” You let out the lump in your throat, and you never felt so relieved when you had told someone about that. It was out of your agendas the whole week, but the choice is really yours, it’s either you head back and go home and sulk for the rest of the month, OR, go to Baguio with Taeyong and make some new memories.
And in the end, you choose the latter.
“Count me in, though, technically I am already here with you, but you get the point—let me help you with that if that’s okay for you,” he said.
You chuckle at him. You don’t really expect that a man you just met would just do this, but who are you to refuse? If he was willing to help you, then why not? Maybe he has a reason why he was doing all of this. You just hope that it is with good reason or else you are ready to raise your fists against him if he ever does something bad to you.
“Well, be my guest.”
-
Your bus arrived at Baguio and you two found yourselves wandering around. You asked him if he had booked a hotel because there’s no way he could book right away in the city, turns out he had a friend who happened to have a lodging in the city. You now wonder who the hell is this man and why does he have so many connections to easily book an accommodation. Once you had left your belongings in your lodging, the two of you wandered around Burnham Park.
You take turns to point out what you see around the park. One time, he had pointed at a Papillon dog and he told you about his pet dog, Ruby, who had passed away recently. He also explained the meaning of his tattoo, and the answer to your question on who that dog could be was finally answered.
When you two decided to buy some snacks around, you two found a small ice cream shop. You noticed that he definitely like Strawberry flavor because of the way his eyes sparkled and grinned as he received the ice cream. You told yourself that it was so cute of him and you even ended up ordering one even though you are planning to get Cookies and Cream.
And once again, he was listening to your ramblings again as you two sat at the park, watching the park goers come and go.
“Wait, what was his name again?” He asks when you are in the nth time telling him about your ex-boyfriend.
“Didn’t I tell you already?”
He just gave a shrug as his response.
“Why didn’t you say so? Well, he is Jaehyun. Jaehyung Jeong. He's a photographer for models in famous magazines like Vogue, Esquire and Elle. And Milan happened to be one of the places he was assigned to. I was really happy for him, honestly. Like his partner, I am very supportive of him even if we are in a long-distance relationship. But we made it work. We never failed to update each other. We even had these scheduled video calls every night for almost two years but one night… I don’t know how or why or when it had happened, but that particular day, he seemed preoccupied…”
You remember that night. He was in a rush. Didn’t even take a time to say a word to you right after you just told him about the project you landed on your job.
When you thought that would be the last time that he would do it to you, you didn’t think that it would also be the last time you called each other every night. But then again, you were understanding to him, and you just let it go without confronting him about it.
When the usual nights you were in your pajamas and waiting for him to call, it turned into weeks to months waiting for him to call instead of just messaging you like he had gone cold.
“Did you ever get to know the reason?”
“Oh, yeah damn right I did but that was when I flew all the way to Milan. You know, to know the answers to my questions.” You smiled bitterly before you resumed telling bits of the story to Taeyong.
“I didn’t believe it when I didn’t see it even though my friends already told me something must have happened so… I gathered up all of my savings, and even asked my friends to back me up, and thank God they were all supportive of me because it is never easy to be flying alone in a country that you’re not familiar with— you never know what you should expect… But deep inside, I think I already knew the reason why but… I wasn’t just ready to hear it even though my friends kept on telling me that...”
Taeyong then offers you a cup of juice, and you chug it in one drink and you close your eyes and sighed deeply.
“I am just in denial, Taeyong…” You trail off your words. “I am just in denial to the point I thought he would be welcoming me in his arms but instead…” You choked out a sob. “Instead, I saw him with another woman…” You stop yourself from tearing up with a forced smile.
“Am I stupid?”
“You did that for love. But yes, you’re stupid.” He tried to lighten up the mood. It didn’t help boosting your mood, which honestly you wanted to shut him up, though right now he was the one who had been patient with you right now, so you silently thanked him with his blunt honesty.
“I just can’t believe you would be the one accompanying me for the rest of my days here at Baguio.” You said afterwards. You then roll your eyes at him when he shows a glint of teasing in his smirk.
“By the way? Don’t you even have work the next day?” You ask him jokingly.
“What? Do you want us to go home now that we just arrived?” At first you thought it was a joke, but his tone had changed onto sincere concern.
You shake your head, and say, “I still wanted to stay here.”
You swear you saw that his eyes speak happiness to you even in a brief glance, and you? You felt the same, too.
“I’m still on leave till Tuesday. And it’s the weekend, right? So, I can still accompany you till Sunday night, and we’ll part ways after that.”
“Right. Right, you’re just here to accompany me.” You said, brushing off the fact that it kind of bothered you that you two will part ways in the next few days and now your time grows thinner and thinner, the eagerness inside you makes you feel more curious about who and what he really is like. A stranger who you had been accompanied, no longer than a week, but it looked like you had known him for so long, like a friend who you had just reunited with after years of not meeting, and then one day, you met at the airport, and caught up like nothing happened. But the truth is, you just really met him for the first time, and you know nothing about him.
You might be repeating yourself over and over again with this encounter with him, but it really feels surreal that you had been together with him. you, who came from a bitter breakup while he... You really don’t know a thing about him aside from what he had shared to you. And the thought of it saddens you even more.
Every time you tell him stories about yourself, it makes you wish he would tell something about himself, too. Maybe you were just so easy to trust him, you had opened your door and led him to a glimpse of your life story, while unlike him, you were still a stranger— and maybe you should do that now.
Despite being slightly disappointed, you spent the day with him with the two of you wandering around the streets. Lots of heartfelt laughs were exchanged between the two of you that, you know, it was as genuine as you hoped.
You two almost didn’t realize that it’s about sundown when you two stopped by an overlooking place.
“Hey…” He said momentarily as he rested his arms on the railing.
You hum as a response. “Yeah?”
“You know how I told you about being stupid earlier?”
“Yeah, how can I not forget that?” You scoff jokingly.
“Well, I could say I’m the same.”
Now, that piqued your interest. You don’t want to go back yet. This is the first time you will get to hear something from him aside from knowing his tattoos, and his dog, Ruby. Taeyong tells something about his love life, how that woman wanted to be with him already but he was this coward, although he loves her, he refuses.
“I wanted to start a life with her but... I was too afraid that I might not be enough. So I did the cowardly thing and broke up with her. I thought I did the right thing, but in the end… So, long story short, I realized I’m still in love with her but it's fucking too late...”
He had a small bitter smile on his face, his eyes remained on the grass before him as he recalled the events.
“She had an engagement party a year ago; I saw it on her Instagram. Most of my friends liked it and of course, I liked it and commented 'congrats' to her. I don’t want to come off as a bitter resentful ex but... If that’s the thing that will make you do for the sake of the person you love, then maybe I really did the right thing— To set her free.”
“Do you still love her?” you ask him. Same question he asked you when you had told him about your ex-fiancé.
Taeyong only shrugged off his shoulders. “I don't know. Maybe yes, maybe no. But then again, if she's already happy with her life, and then I am happy— in that way I can now move on with my life.”
“You’re a fighter.”
Taeyong shook his head. “That’s what just love does to people. Even the most logical and sensical people would go nuts in the name of love.”
You smiled lightly.
And yes, he was right.
“So, the both of us do have broken hearts, huh?”
He only hums in response.
After that, a short still silence wrapped between the two of you as you two watched the sunset above the pink-purple skies. You never had the chance to see the sun set for so long, you are always occupied with work. And for so long, this was the first time you got to see it— a fresh start.
“Why did you help me back in the airport?” You break the silence for the first time with one of the questions you seemed to forget to ask.
“Honestly, I won’t just stand and not help someone who’s in need.”
“And you didn’t think twice about helping me?” You ask, still couldn’t believe that he would do that without further question.
“I would be lying if I didn’t find you pretty at first sight, but the point is— Yes, I didn’t think twice.”
You smirk at his first remark, but then again, you do think that he was handsome the first time you saw him.
“You think I’m pretty?” That’s not the point, but you just wanted to tease him and it worked, he fiddled with his hands, and was smiling shyly. Before he could get flustered, he changed the subject.
“So, what are you planning next after this trip?” He asks instead.
“I don’t know…” You honestly really don’t know yet. Hell, you will be going back to reality on Tuesday, and you will get back to finding a new job right after you had left your previous job so that you can stay in Milan for about a month.
“But one thing for sure, I hope I can move on from him.” You say firmly. But right now, you wanted to rest here for a while like you wouldn’t think of what was about to happen in the next few days.
“You’re not talking about him since earlier. Which is a good start, you know.”
You match his perfect smile.
You know that this will never repeat ever again. This was spontaneous, you never planned all this Baguio Trip and you know to yourself that this will never occur ever the same again if that person with you is someone like Taeyong.
“Thank you, Taeyong.” From the bottom of my heart.
 -
Later that night, the two of you head back to your lodging. While waiting, you stand before the balcony and wrap yourself with a shawl that cold night. You are waiting for Taeyong, who had ordered food delivery and was waiting at the lobby.
You almost forgot that your phone didn’t exist after being together with a stranger for almost 24 hours now. Opening your phone, there are so many missed calls and unread messages— some of them came from your friends and from your mother, and one unnamed number.  You read through your messages, and all of it was full of worried text and ‘How are you’s?’ You messaged them one by one, and told them you were fine and you were fine together with a friend in Baguio. Once you’re done, you dialed one of the numbers and you waited and waited until they picked up the phone.
“Hello? It’s me.”
-
24 hours is not enough. But maybe it is worth it to have someone to accompany you like this. The moments last. You dusted your clothes, worrying that there might be small particles of dirt there even if there weren’t. You smoothed your hair, checked your makeup, and smiled at the mirror until you heard his three knocks and you’re ready to seize the day with your newfound companion on your last day in Baguio.
“Hey. Something just came up.” His eyes darted on the floor, unable to look at your gaze. “I think I won’t be able to be with you until Tuesday morning.”
You tightly grip the doorknob as discreetly as possible. “Oh... It's fine.”
“But we can still do your last agenda.”
‘Screaming on the top of your lungs at the high mountains of Sagada.’
“Are you fucking kidding me?” You look at him unbelievably.
“I mean if you don’t like it, then, we should just plan another one and not this—”
“It’s perfect, Jae! We’re going to do this on our fourth anniversary next week!” You hug your boyfriend, smiling ear-to-ear, you just can’t wait to spend it before he goes to Milan for work.
“Are you alright?” Taeyong asks you, snapping you back from reality where you two were standing in the doorway of your hotel room.
You were holding back tears. Stop it, you weren’t supposed to be crying in front of him again.
“Yes. See you later, Taeyong.”  You said before you closed the door before him.
-
You both rode the bus all the way up the mountains. Both of you will experience for the first time even if in the next few hours, you will part away.
“Do you know this song-?”
You just remembered that you sat away from him and he never said a thing, he respected it. You kind of wish he was sitting beside you like he did during the bus ride to Baguio. And the rest of the bus ride, you just sulk there and listen to your playlist on your own. Later that day, it was almost late afternoon when your bus arrived at the bus stop.
You still haven't talked with each other since the two of you arrived but he already made sure to rent a tent for the rest of the night.
“Sorry sir, we only have one tent available.” the woman told Taeyong.
“It's okay we'll take it,” you heard him reply and waited for the tent.
“Taeyong, what do you mean there's only one tent?” You quickly stood beside him as soon as the woman left her seat to fetch the tent.
“It's fine, you can have it, I'll just have a sleeping bag beside-”
“We can share.” You cut him off.
“Then fine.”
You swore he smirked but it instantly faded away when the lady called him to give away the tent.
-
Even if you just went through with silence as you both set up the tent which almost threw you off in range on how you couldn't figure out fixing it but luckily, Taeyong knows how to build it, fortunately, your mood settled in. You brought some cup noodles for you to eat, and you even left one for him hoping he would eat.
You couldn't just sit there in silence and ignore him now that this would be the last time you two will meet. You can ask his number but are you sure he will give it after you ignore him for the rest of the day? You don’t think so.
Taeyong was still inside the tent after he had finished building it. You deeply sigh to yourself, and go inside to see a sleeping Taeyong.
You saw how peaceful he looked when he was sleeping thanks to the moonlight shining above. You snuggled in, but as far as possible from him, until you had settled lying down beside him.
“Do you think we will ever meet again?”
You were lying down beside him as you gaze above the tent. You can only hear his breath, and you wish he would never hear it nor answer your question because the answer you were waiting for might not be the one that will come out of his mouth.
“I'm sorry I ignored you for the rest of the day. You were a great company by the way. I wish we were friends even after this. I don’t know how I can even ask for your number now that we're back to strangers again.” You were fighting off the little tears that were about to stream down your cheek.
“I hope we can still be friends after this.”
And you turned away from him and faced the other side.
You slowly woke up yourself and there was a blanket wrapped around you. It was still dark outside, you observe. And the man beside you? He was gone.
You start to jolt awake, removing the blanket, and jump away outside the tent from panic. You almost shouted out his name but as soon as you spotted a familiar figure sitting meters away from the tent, your shoulders relaxed seeing him right there and exhaled in relief. He seemed to sense you being awake, so he waved his hand, and smiled solemnly.
“Good morning.”
“I thought you left...” You mumbled.
He furrows his brows at you. “Why would I? Our journey wasn’t over, remember?”
“I thought you left…” You would not dare cry in front of him once more but all of your repressed emotions had flooded and you let your emotions give in. You shielded your eyes with your arms as you cry, and moments later, you felt arms wrapped around you, and you just melted into it and succumbed to comfort.
“I am sorry...” you choke out a sob.
“Don’t be, I understand it so it's okay…” He shushed gently as he smoothed down his hand on your back. “Besides you’re still gonna scream and curse out remember?”
A mix of blue and orange hues painted the skies above as it welcomed the rising of the sun. Like the sun, Taeyong smiles at you, radiating with warmth, and even if you're fresh from tears, you match his smile and wipe away the remaining tears on your cheeks.
“Let's go curse the hell out of my ex and welcome the start of something new.” You grin and he chuckles seeing you back on track.
“Then, let's go, and scream, shall we?” He assists you to stand right up. Hand in hand, the two of you ran almost towards the edge of the mountain with crazy grins on your faces. You two were laughing like it was the end of the world until you reached the end of the cliff.
“I WILL BE THE MOST HAPPIEST WOMAN IN EARTH, AND MOVE ON FROM YOU JAEHYUN JEONG!!!” You were the first one to scream and you can see the delight in Taeyong's face as you said all those words.
“I will never just stay back to the past and move on from you, I PROMISE THAT FROM NOW ON—!”
You didn’t hear the name he shouted from the last one, but what is important is that when you two both welcome the sunrise, you can feel the cold breeze of the morning air which didn’t seem to bother you, and the problems of the past seemed to be forgotten.
“Thank you.” You told him.
“You’re welcome.”
Maybe there was really a reason that the two of you had met in an unexpected circumstance, and here you were, together with Taeyong Lee, promising for a beginning of a new journey. Maybe it was fate, maybe it wasn’t, it doesn’t matter. At least, at that moment, even an unexpected turn of events in our life, like what happened in Milan, you were sure there were more plenty of great things waiting for the both of you, and that includes the sunrise at the highest mountains, and the warmth radiating beside you.
-
You were sure you insisted that you are okay for going home alone, but instead, Taeyong was still true to his word so he was here with you until you go home. From the airport in Milan to driving you all the way back to home, he was there with you, making sure you were safe.
As you were about to arrive where your home is, you noticed that there was black sedan parked in front of your home. It was already 3 in the morning; you wondered who that could be and when you stepped out of the car, a black-haired man in a white shirt, holding a bouquet of flowers, was waiting in front of your home, your question was finally answered.
Fuck. Your ex was literally in front of your house… Like what the fuck? Why could he be here? Didn’t you already tell him the other day that you are now really ending it for real?!
“Hey.”
Now this is awkward. Jaehyun Jeong was standing in front of your house while Taeyong was right beside you.
“I’m Taeyong, I’m just her friend so don’t worry.” Taeyong introduced himself to Jaehyun as he extended his hand. You kinda wished Taeyong didn’t do that.
“I’m Jaehyun.” He smiled at the man.
Before you could even stop them from further introducing themselves to each other, Taeyong stepped in and said, “Well, it’s nice meeting you, man, but I need to help her unload her bags, so I’m gonna go take care of it first,” he said passively as he waves his hand at you, and nodded his head to Jaehyun. He muttered ‘Wait for me,’ to you before he went back to his car. When Taeyong was walking all the way back to his car, that’s where Jaehyun spoke for the first time.
“I’m sorry.” He starts but you shake your head. “Jae, it’s three in the morning, I’m already tired.” You were still standing there, waiting and craning your head to see if Taeyong was coming back already.
“Is that the new guy you’re dating?” He stops you looking for Taeyong. “Wow, it’s only been a week, and you already found a new man?” His tone seems to be joking, but you both knew it wasn’t a joke. And look who’s talking as if you were the first one who had been the first who had strained your relationship.
“I don’t have time for this, Jae. We’re already done, remember?” You tried to be as polite and dismissive as possible so that he could just leave you alone, and you succeeded.
He clenched his hand tightly on the bouquet’s handle before finally sighing deeply, and relaxed his fingers around the bouquet.
“Fine. I just wanted to know if you’re doing alright, and it turns out, you were okay right now. I wish you well.” He said before leaving you the bouquet of lilies, which was your favorite, and left you alone. Just in time, Taeyong just got back from his car while holding your luggage.
“So, that’s Jae, huh? Did he hurt you—?"
Your first instinct was to hug him tightly. You don’t know if he understands what you’re saying, but you’re actually thanking him for being more present to you than the man whom you used to love. The man was too stunned to speak, yet he didn’t push you away, and he even patted your back as you hugged him.
“You should take a rest now, and it’s nice being with you for almost three days.” He said somberly as you gently pull away from him.
“Yeah, you, too. See you next time.” You said as you waved goodbye at him.
‘Taeyong hasn’t left, right?’ You asked yourself and you were right, his car hadn’t even left where he had parked. You knock on the window of his car, and he opens the window slowly, and you see him lounging inside the car with close eyes.
“I thought you’re going home now?”
“I thought you’re about to go back to Seoul?”
He smiled cheekily. “I was waiting for you to go inside your home.”
You raise a brow before he raises his hands in the air in defense. “Okay, okay, I just wanted to make sure you’re—”
You peck a kiss on his cheek before you waved goodbye at him and head back home.
And there was a smile on your face when you see one of his keychains from his luggage was there along with a short-written message just above the handle.
‘Hope we can meet again so I can treat you with ramen next time ; hope you can message me next time on taeoxo on ig, if u want. I will be glad to talk again with u some time : )
- TY’
You left a mental note that you’ll message him when you’re ready. And if he’s willing to wait, then maybe sometimes fate is not cruel as they always tend to be.

Author's Note: To all of my lovely dearies still interested in this mayhem, things are going to start developing soon. We've almost reached the beginning of the first arc I have planned, so bear with me for one more chapter, yeah?

Jaehyun woke to the sound of muffled music, voices and the smell of food. Blinking, he found himself staring at the high ceiling of the living room, apparently having fallen asleep on the couch after opting to watch some tv after dinner had been served and most of the guests had gone to their rooms. He groaned, reaching to rub at a temple, hoping it would diminish some of the throbbing in his head. He isn't surprised to wake up on the couch; he was certain he hadn't fallen asleep until the earliest of morning hours. What does surprise him is both his lying position and the blanket draped over him, the colorful pumpkin pattern a soft plush. He sits up, glancing around to find a couple of the others are still asleep in the living room; the baby of Youngjo's clan, Dongju, if Jaehyun remembered correctly, and Jungwoo, one of Taeyong's underlings, were curled on the massive bean bag chair, a large navy blanket covering them as they slept. It was adorable, reminding Jaehyun of the family he had in one of his safe houses. The mother  he was keeping safe had panicked when he finally managed to call her, but he had calmed her down and let her know she was safe, as were the three children. He got up from the couch, draping the blanket over the back of the couch before making his way towards the kitchen, pausing when he found a sliding door closing the kitchen off from the living room area. Getting closer lends him a better understanding of the muffled voices.
“Oi, Wooyoung! Why did you mess up the eggs?” San questioned as Jaehyun approached the door.
“Just scramble them, you picky cat.” Wooyoung countered with a teasing tone.
“We aren't cooking for everyone, we don't need to scramble them!” San argued, a pout in his voice that made Jaehyun chuckle as he reached to open the door.
“Boys, behave or I will ground you both and tell Hongjoong.” Arashi's voice sent a wave of relief over Jaehyun as he slid the door open.
Despite much reassurance from the others, he was exceedingly worried about her recovering. He stepped inside, closing the door behind him so as to not disturb the ones still asleep before turning to look around. San and Wooyoung were at the stove while Youngjo was washing prep dishes, everyone seemingly content in the routine.
“Well well well, look who's risen to join us.” Yuta's voice caught Jaehyun's attention, the warlock's eyes finding where the vampire sat at the table. Arashi was perched next to him, head on his shoulder as he spoke. “Did we wake you up?”
Jaehyun shook his head. “That would be the headache I seem to have gotten while I slept.”
“Some medicine and tea and you'll be fine. I need some more tea myself.” Arashi replied, righting herself to get up. Her multicolored hair is clipped back with a gemmed barrette, and she paused for a moment as she stood - Yuta reaching to steady her with a hand at the small of her back - before she started towards the counter. “Lady Grey, correct?” She confirmed, Jaehyun nodding as he walked to join her at the counter.
“Sit down.” Youngjo told Arashi softly without looking at her. “We can make more for you and one for him.”
“Youngjo, I'm not helpless. I can handle pushing a few buttons on a machine, for crying out loud.” Arashi rolled her eyes, waving a hand at her familiar dismissively. “Just hand me a mug from the second shelf of that cabinet.” Youngjo sighed, shaking his head, but complied with the command, handing a mug with sunflowers on it to her as she set up the Keurig on the counter. She pulled a glass jar over and popped open the spring lid, taking a moment to breathe in the scent inside the jar with a faint smile. Pulling out a small tea bag, she set one in the new mug while lifting her own to empty the remnants. “You're a brood of mother hens, I swear.”
“How are you feeling?” Jaehyun asked, standing at the end of the counter so that Arashi was still in eyeline of where Yuta sat.
“A little weak, but that'll be fixed once I eat some food instead of sleeping.” Arashi assured. “I was going to make breakfast, but the boys here were obviously not having it.” She motioned her head towards the three currently cooking and cleaning. “They wouldn't even let Yuta help.”
“Look here, Missy, one of us needs to keep an eye on you.” Wooyoung huffed, turning to point a spatula at her.
“Wooyoung, I am fine.” Arashi insisted, shaking her head slightly.
“I'm just glad you're awake. I know the others said you'd be fine, but I was still concerned. I caused-” Jaehyun is cut off as Arashi lifted a hand to stop him.
“First of all, do not apologize. I can tell that's where that was headed.” Arashi stated. “Secondly, I am a healer, I did my job.”
“But-”
“Don't bother trying to argue.” San warned. “Arashi is stubborn as a mule.”
“I can still smack you, Choi San.” Arashi countered, twisting just enough to look at him with a playful smirk. San grinned back, the smile just a tad too wide for a human before turning back to his task at hand. Rolling her eyes, she moved to hand the mug to Jaehyun before placing her own and starting the machine again, setting a teabag in her mug. “ Sugar is on the counter, cream and such is in the fridge.” She let Jaehyun make the tea to his liking before dipping the spoon in a small glass of water to rinse it off. “We came down and saw you, Jungwoo and Dongju sleeping. I didn't want to wake everyone up and cause chaos, so I shut the kitchen door for now.”
“That's very considerate of you, especially having just come back to everyone.” Jaehyun mused, sipping from his cup.
“Being one of the few females in this giant ass clan of puzzle pieces, you learn to remind everyone about manners on occasion.” Arashi laughed softly.
“We’re not that bad, Arashi.” Wooyoung argued.
“Not anymore.” Yuta interjected, chuckling when Wooyoung pouted at him.
“Like you never had a moment-”
“He very likely didn't, Woo. He was raised as a noble.” San countered, reminding his mate.
“Noble?” Jaehyun looked at the vampire, surprise written on his face. “You're a royal vampire?”
“Prince and heir apparent of the Osaka clan leader.” Yuta says, though there's no pride in his voice. If anything, he seems bothered by the fact.
Jaehyun recalled Yuta mentioning that he left home for good reason, and it showed that the story behind that decision still affected him. “I didn't mean to pry.”
“It's actually common knowledge between the clans, it's not like you put a gun to anyone's head.” Yuta countered, reaching for his coffee. “I just prefer not to have anyone think I'm superior to them.”
Arashi was at his side in a few strides, reaching to thread her fingers through his hair. She leaned down, murmuring in a language Jaehyun doesn't immediately recognize due to her soft tone. It's only when Yuta replied back, just slightly louder, that he realized they were speaking in Japanese. Where Yuta spoke in a relaxed manner, Arashi wasn't quite as calm - obviously speaking a learned language despite a strong fluidity in her pronunciation. Although it’s a sweet moment, something about it was intimate to witness. Jaehyun looked away from the couple, startled when he found Wooyoung next to him.
“Sausage or bacon?” The fox inquired, crowded next to Jaehyun as if there wasn't a massive kitchen around them.
“What?”
Wooyoung rolls his eyes. “Which do you want, sausage or bacon?”
“Bacon is fine?” Jaehyun asked more than stated. “You guys don't have to make me anything, this seems like a private-”
“Please don't argue with him. He's more stubborn than I can be.” Arashi's voice chimed in. “Is Jaehyun banished to the table as well, or can he help cook?”
“I really feel like this should be for you guys to have a meal together.” Jaehyun protested. “I don’t want to impose.”
“Once Wooyoung makes up his mind about feeding someone, he won't take no for an answer.” Youngjo explained.
“You're also still recovering, Jaehyun.” Arashi added. “Please, come sit at least. Let the gremlins do their thing.”
“Gremlins?” Youngjo feigned offense as he began mixing batter for pancakes.
“I said what I said.” Arashi mused, lifting her mug to take a sip. The atmosphere is relaxed and playful, and Jaehyun finds he's actually beginning to feel comfortable for the first time since his return. Whether it's the people, the changes in layout, or some combination of the two, he wasn't sure. As food was made, the familiars made sure Arashi and Jaehyun eat first, then Yuta and San before eating themselves. The group was gathered at one end of the table, plates emptied, when the door opened to reveal Taeyong.
“Look who's awake.” The dragon grinned sleepily as he walked in. “Welcome back, little storm.” He goes to get a cup of coffee, still sluggish as he worked. “How are you feeling?”
“I'm good, I promise.” Arashi replied. “I may need a sparring match or two, loosen up after being out for so long.”
“Oo, sparring?” San perked up. “Can I spar with you?”
“I don't mind.”
“You guys fight?” Jaehyun asked. “For fun?”
“You learn to defend yourself young when you aren't human.” San replied. “We spar so we can keep sharp on our reflexes and such.”
“But…Arashi, aren't you at a disadvantage, being a witch?” Jaehyun inquired next. “Our kind don’t typically have the reflexes and such to handle a fight with other nonhumans.”
“Arashi will be fine. She's a damn good fighter, especially with her magic.” Taeyong yawned as he spoke.
“I still need to work on my hand to hand. Yuta and Johnny typically help me with that.” Arashi half laughed knowingly, sipping at her tea again.“But to answer your question, Jae, my siblings made sure I knew the basics of how to fight; to defend myself if nothing else.”
“Would you mind terribly if I tried my hand a time or two?” Jaehyun inquired.
“Oo, I could use another magic user to spar with. The only other pure magic wielder is Joong.” Arashi perked up a bit.
“No magic sparring for a few days, let your magic get back its strength.” Youngjo cautioned, scowling as Wooyoung elbowed him sharply in his side. “Ow, what, fox?”
“Watch it, will ya?” Wooyoung warned with a hiss.
“Oh, you two stop it. I'm already well aware of the tiff Yuta and Youngjo had.” Arashi silenced her familiars, looking over her lifted mug at them before taking another drink.  “We’ll discuss it later. In the meantime…Wooyoung, I need you to relax, okay? Youngjo, I need you to not be so tense. Got it?” The two familiars looked at each other, then Yuta and then Arashi before each nodded in turn. “Everything is fine, so stop walking on eggshells.”
The table slowly came back to life as Taeyong joined with his own coffee, perching across from Jaehyun, between San and Youngjo. The little group talked and caught Arashi up on the activities that happened since she went under, the sun gradually lighting more of the room as it rose further. The day passed fairly casually, and by the time the remaining members were awake, everyone had made their way out into the massive yard in the afternoon warmth. A soccer game had started, and those playing were laughing and teasing each other. Jaehyun had gone to get a cold drink, returning to find Arashi on one of the porch swings, fiddling with the pendant of her necklace as she swayed the swing back and forth slowly.
“Are you sure you're okay?” He greeted with concern, head tilting as Arashi blinked and looked up at him.
“I promise that I'm fine, it typically takes a day or two for my magic to recover. I just don't like not having my usual awareness.” Arashi explained. “It makes me feel kind of helpless, and I don't want Yuta having to worry extra about me.”
“I'm sure he'd worry regardless, Arashi. You are mates, y’know.” Jaehyun countered, sipping from his glass. “What's that, if I may?” He pointed at her hand where her thumb and pointer finger held the charm, making her look down.
“Yuta had it designed for me.” Arashi smiles fondly, moving her pointer finger to reveal the delicately shaped rose gold Sakura blossom, the center a beautiful gemstone. “All the women of his family have a different Sakura pendant, the symbol of his family, and since I'm his mate, he wanted to make sure I was included.”
“It's gorgeous.” Jaehyun commented. “Why the gemstone?”
“The gem for the month we met.” Arashi answered. “I never take it off.”
“I can tell you two have a pure, unfiltered love. It's magic in its own right.” He paused for a moment to look out at where the others were playing their soccer game, head tilting before he spoke again. “You know, I've seen several different mated bonds in my life, but I've actually never known the feeling.”
“You've never had a mate?” Arashi’s face fell, but not in pity. “Oh, sweetie, I'm sorry.” She sounded sad as she spoke, her legs stopping the swing. “Maybe you'll experience it soon? Our clan is big enough, even without my familiars' clans.”
“I doubt that's why I'm here, Arashi.” Jaehyun mused, chuckling. “And I'm not sure I even have a mate. After over three hundred years, you learn not to be too expectant.”
“Maybe it wasn't a swipe right moment, but I have learned that people don't just show up randomly for this clan. I like to think we'll figure out why you're here in time.” Arashi countered, unbothered by Jaehyun revealing his age. “To change the subject, though, I am curious about something. At least if the topic isn't too troubling?”
Dark eyes found Arashi's as Jaehyun looked at her. “What is it?”
“This was your home before we found it and made it anew, right?”
“You could say that.” Jaehyun scoffed a little as he spoke, going to lean his back against the railing. He let his eyes wander the porch. “All of you moved here, fixed up the broken floor boards and awful paint, but I can still feel the ghosts, expect to turn a corner and actually see one.” His left hand lifted to brush his fingers over the smooth surface of elegantly carved wood that captured a wolf’s image. “These were just ugly blocks with awful splinters, the rooms were cramped, the yard bare of color and the food was shitty.”
“An orphanage?”
“A poor excuse for one. Although most of the kids I grew up with weren't orphans in the traditional sense.”
“You were sold.” Arashi stated, matter of fact in her tone.
Jaehyun could sense her eyes on him and he nodded. “When I was a child, my kind were hard to come by. Especially my specific breeding.”
“You have reptile eyes…are they not from your demon parent?”
The question was one Jaehyun had never entertained, really, but it did make him wonder, if only for a moment. “I'm not sure. Neither of my parents were - are, I suppose - human.” he answered. “Supposedly it makes me stronger than the normal warlock. I wouldn't know. My mother sold me off as soon as I could speak well, so I don’t really remember anything about her. This place was where I lived until I ran away as a teenager and never looked back.”
“I'm sorry, Jaehyun. That sounds terrible.”
“Painful memories make us who we are, do they not?” Jaehyun mused, his own words inflected with bittersweetness. “I really, truly thought I would never lay eyes on this place again. But…in a way, I guess I didn't.”
“What do you mean?”
“The inside is remodeled, more spacious on the ground floor. The bedrooms are bigger, even without magic, and even the porch is different. There's a welcoming feeling here now where I once felt dread and horror.” Jaehyun let his hand fall back to his side. “I never knew there was such pretty wood underneath that hideous green paint. Or that something so ornate and elegant could be hiding beneath the surface.”
“That's all Chittapon, he's a regular Da Vinci.” Arashi replied. “Each pillar for the porch represents a different member of the clan, and we still have ones that we just sanded down because the manor is so big.”
“A different member?”
Arashi nodded, pointing to the pillars that bordered the stairs leading to the side yard. One was a large dragon, the other a humanoid form with a katana. “Yongie, Yuta,” she then pointed at the wolf Jaehyun had admired. “That one represents Johnny, the other second for our clan.”
“You can recognize each one?”
“More or less. Chittapon gave little nuances to the members that are similar species.” Arashi giggled a little. “Also, Johnny's is the first where he worked on creating fur with wood, so it's a little rougher in design. Took him over a month, but he still wasn't happy with it, even though it's gorgeous.”
Jaehyun couldn't help but laugh quietly with her. “Like I said, maybe I didn't lay eyes on the place in my past. I may be standing somewhere I once did as far as location, but that place is just…not visible. All of you have transformed it.”
“Beauty can sometimes hide in darkness.” Arashi answered, leaning back as she began to work the swing back and forth again. “I wish I could forget my past sometimes, but it's made me a better healer.”
“Healing magic is a beautiful gift, you know.”
“Doesn't do much good in a fight, though.” Arashi countered with a deprecating laugh. “Joong is the one who helped me learn how to fight with my magic instead of being solely defensive with it.”
“But Tae said-”
“Believe me, I was terrible at first, but that was years ago. Being bonded helps, too.”
“Do you share your abilities with Yuta?”
“Sort of, but not in the way I think you're imagining.” Arashi replied. “My senses are a little stronger than a regular witch, but mostly I have a boost in my stamina, which helps in cases of prolonged magic use. Yuta has acute abilities from me as well." She lifted her cup from the cup holder in the arm of the swing, taking a sip from her straw.
“Prolonged…Arashi, how long should you have been awake after helping me?”
“Hmm?” Arashi blinked, tilting her head a little as she thought. “You know…I don't really have an answer for that.” She mused. “In theory, I probably should have been out before you even woke up? It's hard to say since Yuta and I have been bonded for a while. I don't really remember much about the magic wear before we found each other.”
“So I could have killed you by overusing your magic if you weren't bonded?”
“I mean, you were basically in death's arms by the time we got here, if that consoles you at all.” Arashi countered. “But the majority of my overuse was the comatose spell so you didn't rip your stitches or anything. That spell takes a serious toll on any caster.”
“I almost killed you?!” Jaehyun's voice raised a bit, staring at the witch.
“Will you calm down? There's no need to be so dramatic.” Arashi countered, laughing a little before shaking her head. Her tone turned softer as she spoke again. “Please, don't go stressing yourself out on my account, Jaehyun. Had I been anywhere close to that point, Yuta would have been far more protective and way more reckless.”
“You two seem oddly laid back given the circumstances.”
“Rather than being what, exactly?”
Jaehyun jumped as Yuta appeared with the question, walking up from the current game in the yard. His eyes flashed their natural color as he looked at the vampire a moment longer than necessary as he gathered his thoughts. “I just mean that most interbred bonds can be volatile when any danger is presented.”
“Are you supposed to be dangerous?” Yuta asked him, moving to pluck Arashi's glass from her hands to take a drink even as she pouted playfully up at him.
“Surely not in my current state, but I am still a stranger to your clan, Yuta.”
“You were also in grave danger when you came to us.” Yuta remarked. “Most creatures show gratitude for such an endeavor as what we took on in saving you.” He arched a brow, the slightest curve of amusement on his lips as he spoke. “And you've been here almost a week since waking and haven't tried anything dangerous.”
“I…”
“That level of protectiveness is for danger that expresses itself, or when a fight occurs or is about to begin. It's a primal instinct to protect that which we love, especially for the predator breeds.” Yuta continued, moving to stop the swing so he can kiss Arashi’s head, one hand brushing the back of his fingers over Arashi's cheek as he handed her glass back. “We protect our family, our home, when danger presents itself, not because a wounded stranger asks for help.”
“Oi, Yuta! Get back here!” Hwanwoong called, waving his arm. “We've got a game to finish!”
“Scared you can't win without me, foxy?” Yuta called back with a grin, laughing when Arashi smacked at his leg.
“Go, oh great protector, we're fine.” Arashi teased, rolling her eyes before Yuta leaned to steal a proper kiss and head back.
“Y’know…you guys are a good bunch. All of you. I'm glad it's you who found this place.” Jaehyun maneuvered to sit on the rail across from the swing, turning so he can lean back against the wolf shaped pillar.
Arashi smiled fondly, more maternal in the gesture, as she looked out at where the game had continued. “My clan, this family, is full of life from so many walks of it. And this land, this manor, is good to further nurture that. Fate, or whatever you choose to believe in, directed us all together when we needed it, after all. Or that's how I feel about it.” A howl echoed suddenly across the open field and Arashi looked towards the front of the house, even though the porch wrapping around had no full view. “It would appear we have more guests for you to meet.” She chuckled, but didn't move to stand.
“Shifters?”
“And a werewolf.” Arashi chuckled. Moments later, there was a commotion in the house before a tall male opened the kitchen door and looked around. Shoulder length, golden blonde hair peeked from under a beanie as he spotted Arashi.
“The little witch lives!” He cheered, going over to scoop Arashi up into his arms, sending the swing flailing off balance for a moment.
Arashi squealed with laughter as she was spun, hiding her face in the man's neck before smacking at his shoulder. “Johnny, put me down!” she scolded, a playful pout on her lips.
“Arashi!” A young voice cried out as the taller male - Johnny - obeyed and set Arashi on her feet, wandering off to the yard with a call of Yuta's name. A young man appeared as Arashi ran a hand through her hair, his own platinum hair bouncing as he rushed to hug her, eyes a rich color akin to whiskey. “Thank goodness you're okay.”
“Oh, my baby fox.” Arashi hugged back tightly, nuzzling at his shoulder before pulling back to look at him. “I'm so sorry I worried you. Did you finish your trip at least?”
“There wasn't much left of it. Besides, the others understood the urgency here.” Jisung replied before his eyes found Jaehyun and a distinctive air of protectiveness surrounded him. “Who are you?”
“My name is Jaehyun. A newcomer, if you will.” Jaehyun responded with a mix between a small bow and a nod. “Pleased to make your acquaintance.”
“He's a friend, Jisung.” Arashi replied, unaware of the stunned look on Jaehyun's face as she speaks to the young man standing in front of her. “He's fine, I promise. Stand down.”
“Jisung, you didn't need to leave your trip early, we had everything under control.” Taeyong interrupted as he walked up the steps.
“Of course I did, my mom was sick.” Jisung countered, pouting at Taeyong. “Plus, it's been two years, we weren't going to be gone much longer anyway.”
“If anything that bad had happened, you know your dad would have come to get you? Or one of Arashi’s familiars?” Taeyong countered.
“It's fine, Uncle Tae.” Jisung groaned, but his tone was hard to read. “Right now, I'm home ‘cause my family needed me. I'll talk about the trip later.” He turned to give Arashi another hug before darting out into the yard towards Yuta in a blur of white. The vampire spotted and caught him in a hug with barely a stumble and a grin.
“I can't believe-”
“Yongie, don't.” Arashi cut the dragon off, brow furrowed as she spoke. “He obviously needed to come home.”
“But he was so happy when you two told him he could go.” Taeyong offered.
“I’m aware. But for whatever reason, he found he needed to be home more. Yuta and I will talk to him when he's ready. Right now, let's just be happy that he's okay, yeah?” She gave Taeyong a look as she leaned on the railing to watch Jisung interact with Yuta and Wooyoung. Taeyong shook his head with a sigh, but turned to go inside.
“Mom, huh?” Jaehyun asked, looking at Arashi's profile.
“Jisung lost his family in a fire when he was little more than a pup. Yuta happened to find him and essentially adopted him before he found me. Jisung was reluctant to get close at first, but he warmed up to me. Especially once he realized I was Yuta's mate.” Arashi explained. “He doesn't call us his parents often, but he definitely sees us that way.”
Jaehyun made an intrigued noise. “This clan is full of surprises.”
“You don't know half of it.” Arashi laughed a little. “If you stick around, you'll learn the whole backstory in time.”
“I'm not sure about that.” Jaehyun replied. “I've never been in a family environment, Arashi. At least not a good one. I don't want to overstay my welcome or disturb something that's already good.”
Arashi tilted her head as she watched him. “You're a good person, Jaehyun.” she stated. “Whatever is in your past, you overcame it. You run a network of safe houses, for crying out loud. How would you possibly disturb our dynamic?” She let him sit there a long moment, the two of them merely watching each other. “Don’t dismiss it because it's scary.”
“I'm not scared.” Jaehyun defended far too quickly to be believable.
“Then don't do it because it's unfamiliar. Do you think any of us were so easily endeared to each other outside of mates?”
“I reckon it hasn't always been pleasant.”
“Nope. It gets tense, it gets awkward, but that's part of belonging to a family.”
“Arashi, I'm not sure I even know what family is.”
“I didn't either, for a long time. But I figured it out, and something tells me you're figuring it out, too.” Arashi countered.
Jaehyun was silent in response, averting his gaze to the yard for a long time. When he braved to look back, Arashi was gone, and he's now alone on the porch. A sigh parted his lips as he lifted his eyes up to the sky, the faintest tinge of orange beginning to lap at the horizon.

Fanfic idea #8
ok so its been a while.
and yes, i have another fic in the works
but hear me out
hunger games au
with nct dream
so, rough story line, takes place either when the original hunger games do (74-75) or during the 99th and 100th games. y/n won the hunger games years before, as a twelve year old, she's strong and mildly scary... and i feel like "The Nightmare of the Hunger Games" has a nice ring to it, but lemme know what you think.
anyways, she's the distirct twelve mentor and the dreamies are tributes (i'll put districts at the bottom)
the 74th/99th games go by and the boys pull a katniss-peeta situation and wind up winning together.
and then along comes the 100th/75th games. now this is why i was thinking 100th games, because of course it's going to be the victors playing in the games, and of course all 8 of them (dream and y/n) are going to be reaped, so we need some bad tributes who go all murdery on them, but then we need to have some that are a part of the rebellion.
so why not make the 100th games a special edition? a combo of all three previous quarter quells :) thats a marvelous idea
and so for the 75th, the victors are reaped. the 50th, double the tributes, two boys and two girls from each district (which proves to be a problem, since 12 only has two boys and one girl (Mark, Taeyong, and y/n (yes taeyong is from twelve, i want him there, so there he is))). and for the 25th, an election held to vote for the tributes. volunteers still accepted, of course.
and then the rest of the story, 13 and what not.
now for the districts tributes. this will include their districts, ages at the reaping of the 99th games (so everyone ages 1 year for the 100th) and the games they won. jsyk, the hunger games take place in july, so ages are based around that :)
Jeno - district 1. age 17. 99th
Renjun - district 2. age 17. 99th
Chenle - district 3. age 15. 99th
Haechan - district 4. age 17. 99th
Jisung - district 7. age 15. 99th
Jaemin - district 11. age 16. 99th
Mark - district 12. age 17. 99th
y/n - district 12. age 16. 95th
Taeyong - district 12. age 21. 93rd
other members can be included as mentors, tributes, stylists, escorts, rebellion members, friends from districts, whatever, if you wish.
if anyone has any ideas on what the other members should be, please comment and let me know

Mark and I will come get you after your last class. We have to introduce you both to the pack. If you both are interested in perhaps joining later?" Taeyong said unsure.
"You would really be willing to let a human like me in your pack? Are you sure your other pack mates wouldn't be angry?" She asked, skeptical.
"They will love you. Some may be rude at first but trust us they will love you." The blonde Alpha finally spoke from his spot by Jaehyun.
She looks at Shotaro seeing the hopeful look in his eyes. She agreed.
* * * End of the School Day * * *
Taeyong and Mark came as promised with Sungchan and Haechan behind them. Haechan ran to Shotaro hugging and scenting him. Shotaro was a shocked blushing mess. Via chuckled as Sungchan pulled Haechan off Shotaro only for the Omega to cling to the clouded leopard's arm.
Mark and Taeyong each took one of her hands not being pushed away they smiled looping their arms in hers. It only took about 20 minutes to get to the Pack house or mansion more like it.
"Why do I smell- V? Taro? Is that you?" A puppy like Chinese Alpha asked in surprise.
"Yukhei!" The siblings ran to the Alpha hugging him.
"You guys know Lucas?" The four who brought the siblings home asked trying to hide their jealousy.
"I told you I had a human friend and a leopard friend. These are two I'm always talking about. It's so good to see my little sister and brother." Lucas grinned.
I still can't believe you didn't let Mom and Dad sign the adoption papers. You know the offer is always open right?" Shotaro asked as the Alpha scented the two like he used too. Several growls were heard.
Sungchan grabbed Shotaro from Lucas as Via was taken by Yuta.
"What are you guys doing?" The rest of the pack entered the sitting room.
"Oh, hey Taro. Hey Via." A few of the Omegas and Betas greeted them.
"Hey guys. Will you please tell Yuta and Sungchan to let go of us? Yukhei is an old friend and like our brother. He was just scenting us like he used to." Via explained.
"Are either of them courting you?" YangYang asked.
"The Dreamies are interested in Taro and Jaehyun and the others asked me on a date."
"THEY WHAT?!?!" The others shouted not believing their head Alphas and Lunas would have asked her out. They usually only had flings or very brief girlfriends and none were ever humans. Though the ones who have spoken with her know she isn't like all the other humans that they hate so much. Her and Shotaro would make good editions to the pack.
Yuta started scenting her and nipped her neck softly causing her to jerk looking behind her in surprise. "Ours."
She looked at Taeyong and his other mates who were just as surprised as she was at Yuta's possessive of her.
"Why are you wasting your time on some human slut?" An Alpha sneered in disgust. Her scent soured a little when they heard a terrifying growl.
Don't you EVER and I mean EVER talk to my big sister like that or I'll make sure you won't have pups ever." Shotaro snarled angrily. Yuta grip loosened so Via made her way to Shotaro pulling him into a hug as he scented her hugging her tightly.
"It's okay, baby. He's just had a bad experience with humans. That's why he's being nasty. It's not his fault humans are so awful to hybrids. Everything's okay. You know I've been called worst. Thank you for looking out for me though. Love you my baby." She gave him an Eskimo kiss to calm him down. The rude Alpha (Kun) was watching jaw dropped. The clouded leopard called the girl his sister and stood up for her while she calmed him down and treated him as a brother while making an excuse for his own bad behavior.

flour - lee taeyong
Tumblr media
oc name: Yeong Hae-Jung
word count: 611
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeong Hae-Jung and Taeyong had been longing for a peaceful weekend together, free from the demands and distractions of their daily lives. As the days grew shorter and the weekend arrived, they found themselves faced with a dilemma. They wanted to do something special but didn't feel like venturing out for a typical date.
"Do you want to bake something?" Hae-Jung suggested. So, they decided to stay in and explore the magic of their kitchen.
Excitement buzzed between them as they rummaged through the cupboards, searching for a recipe that would satisfy their shared craving for chocolate. After a few minutes of deliberation, they settled on baking a batch of chocolate chip cookies—the epitome of warmth, comfort, and togetherness.
With aprons tied around their waists and sleeves rolled up, they transformed the kitchen into their private playground. Mixing bowls clinked, measuring cups were filled, and laughter filled the air as they embarked on their baking journey. Despite their lack of expertise in the kitchen, they were determined to create something delicious.
"Hey! Stop that!" Taeyong screamed out, holding his arms to shield his face. The girl just laughed and ran around the kitchen island to get away from her boyfriend, who wanted payback.
Flour floated in the air like delicate snowflakes as they playfully tossed it at each other. The kitchen turned into a scene of sweet chaos as they ran around, exchanging mischievous grins and giggles. Taeyong wrapped his arms around Hae-Jung with a face full of pure love and admiration.
As the first tray of cookies went into the oven, they sat side by side on the kitchen counter, their faces slightly dusted with flour, and exchanged glances filled with affection. At that moment, surrounded by the sweet aroma of baking treats, the realization of their deepening connection blossomed within their hearts.
Unable to contain his feelings any longer, Taeyong looked into Hae-Jung's eyes, his voice soft but unwavering. "Hae-Jung, I love you," he confessed, his sincerity echoing through the kitchen. Hae-Jung's heart skipped a beat as she gazed back at him, her eyes shimmering with warmth and adoration. "And I love you, Taeyong," she replied, her voice a gentle melody that matched the sweet symphony of their love.
With the words hanging in the air, they shared a tender moment—a silent kiss and hug of their affection. In that simple exchange, their connection grew stronger, their bond fortified by the simple act of baking together.
Finally, the timer chimed, announcing the completion of their homemade delights. They eagerly gathered around the oven, opening it to reveal a tray of perfectly golden-brown cookies. It was a delicious testament to their joint effort and the power of their love.
As they savoured the warm, gooey cookies, they marvelled at how their impromptu baking adventure had turned into a beautiful memory. It wasn't just about the cookies but the laughter, the mess, and the genuine connection they shared in that kitchen.
In the end, they realized that the joy of their weekend together didn't come from extravagant plans or fancy outings—it stemmed from the simple act of being present with each other, embracing the joy of the moment, and discovering the beauty of love in the most unexpected places.
And so, with flour-covered clothes and hearts full of love, they vowed to continue cherishing these little moments—whether in the kitchen or elsewhere—that would forever be etched in the tapestry of their shared journey.

You didn’t want to talk about it. Not for a single second. About two months ago, Jaehyun sat everyone down in the living room with the life and color drained from his face, his hands fidgeting with each other as he paced back and forth in front of the TV for a good two minutes before Doyoung begged him to stop and just say what was on his mind. Jaehyun immediately froze, turned, and spit out, “I auditioned for the military band a couple of weeks ago.” The room went still. “I got accepted today. I’ve decided to go early, in November, just to get it out of the way, so that Taeyong and I can come back together to look after Reyna, instead of all of us just going one at a time.” That didn’t make any sense— That made it worse! Everyone expected that it would be one at a time, making it easier to share the load of running such a big house while having a little one running around. How the hell was it helpful to have him leave early— Two years early, by the way. So you decided you didn’t want to hear it, so you got up to leave with the excuse of going to take care of the baby, while the others sat in silence, staring at Jaehyun with shock.
It took a few days before you could look at him again. He tried to talk to you about it, wanting to explain himself and the fact that he was going into the military band so that he would have ample opportunity to visit, probably with Taeyong too, just to cheer you up. But you didn’t want to hear it. There was a crying baby in your room, begging for her dad, and you wondered what you were going to do with him gone… Yeah, there were the others. Of course they would always help out. But Jaehyun had a special touch with your daughter that put her to sleep whenever she was fussy or made her giggle whenever she was scared after a silly nightmare. There were times when you couldn’t help her but he could. How could he leave her?
“Let me feed her so you can rest,” Jaehyun begged from outside the door one afternoon when he heard her crying because she was hungry and you were grumpy while bouncing her in your arms, trying to get her to calm down. You gave in. The door opened, and Jaehyun took your daughter in his arms with a smile and a happy coo that instantly cheered her up. “Hi, my sweet girl. Let’s get you something to eat so you can nap with your mom.”
While he left with the baby, you crashed in bed, finally able to take a nap for the first time in a few days. The other boys tried to help out and get you to rest, but you had locked yourself away ever since Jaehyun said he was leaving— You didn’t want their help, because who could you trust? Next thing you’d know, Doyoung would be surprising you with his early enlistment, too… And maybe Jungwoo would follow suit… You didn’t dare to dream that Hyuck would leave you, too, but the concern lingered in the back of your mind. Jaehyun had flipped your whole world upside down, and you hated him for it.
By the time you were able to look him in the eyes again, the boys returned to their schedules of taking turns looking after the baby, and Johnny was cooking meals for a silent household since everyone was walking on eggshells around you. They’d just gotten their daughter back, no one wanted to start another argument that would have you retreating into your bedroom again. But Jaehyun observed you closely. Physically, he was at a distance, but his eyes followed you, like he was expecting you to say something to him. And you did.
“Mark and Haechan won’t even be here to see you off.”
Everyone in the kitchen went to a standstill.
“Reyna and I can’t go either.” If people took pictures of you, a random lady, holding a baby at his enlistment ceremony, the internet would’ve burned to the ground with speculation that would’ve flushed down the drain years of hard work keeping your relationship a secret.
Doyoung shifted uncomfortably on his seat while switching Reyna to his left arm to cradle her as he ate his breakfast that Johnny made.
“You’ll miss so much… Her first steps… Maybe her first words too…”
Yuta put his clean plate in the sink for Jungwoo to wash. Johnny turned off the stove before taking his own plate filled with eggs and sausage to his seat at the table. However, no one else moved or spoke until you stood, your plate still untouched, and left to go to your room.
Another two days later, there was a knock at your door, followed by Jaehyun cautiously peeking in to see if you’d send him away after throwing a pillow or something more… damaging than that. To his surprise, when you didn’t object to his appearance, he entered completely, closing the door behind him before slowly sitting on the corner of your bed. Reyna was napping in Mark’s room because he was trying to make the most out of seeing her before he and Haechan had to go back on tour in Europe for a whole month.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner, baby.”
You stared at him, hoping that if you didn’t move and kept your breathing steady that you wouldn’t fall apart and start crying.
“But I am going—”
You gulped, tears pricking at the corner of your eyes.
“—and I hope that you’ll support my decision in time.” He bit his lip and played with his hands anxiously. “I know I’m going to miss out on a lot with Reyna, and the rest of you too. It kills me that I might not be here for her first steps, or when she’s teething and keeping you all up every night, or when she says her first words… But I’d rather give up some of that than give up her first day at preschool where she makes her first real friends, or when she gets her first stupid playground crush on some stupid kid who doesn’t deserve her a single bit.” Both of you chuckled quietly. “I want her to know that I’m her dad. If I leave now, she won’t know, and by the time I come back, she’ll learn who I am and always know that I’m her dad, and that I’m never going anywhere ever again. That’s the choice I’ve made. To be remembered by her, and to experience other things with her, I have to give up some of the other stuff now—”
Jaehyun was caught off guard when you threw the covers off your body and immediately leaned forward, putting your weight on your knees, so that you could kiss him gently. It took him a few seconds to snap out of his trance and reciprocate your kiss. His hands caressed your cheeks, fingers tickling your earlobes, his lips and tongue fighting for dominance.
But then he pulled away for air. His gaze was lowered in shame as he whispered, “I don’t want to fight these next few weeks. Can we just… Can we try to have fun? Be normal?”
“I’d like that.”
With a sigh of relief, Jaehyun pulled you on top of him while he simultaneously shifted to sit more comfortably on the bed. He cradled you close to him, like he was afraid to ever let go. In return, you held onto him, fingers tangling in his hair, your forehead pressed against his temple, staring at his dimples that Reyna and Jungwoo liked to play with— Everyone joked that was the one thing she must’ve inherited from Jungwoo, her uncanny obsession with Jae’s dimples and smile lines. And so the two of you stayed like that for what could’ve been hours on end. Every so often, Jaehyun would shift slightly beneath you, kissing you, rubbing your back comfortingly, whispering words of praise and affirmation. When he asked if he could spend the night in your room with you and Reyna, you replied with a nod. Then when Mark returned with Reyna, you took her while Jaehyun laid with his back against the headboard of your bed, his legs spread wide enough for you to sit comfortably between them while your back was resting against his stomach, both of you staring down at your daughter, watching as she slept so soundly knowing that her dad was there.
As promised, you and Jaehyun acted like things were normal. You didn’t want to talk about him enlisting. He didn’t want to upset you. The rest of the house was terrified of setting you off again. So things went on like there wasn’t a doom’s day clock in the back of their minds, counting down the days until November 4th. Mark and Haechan seemed content with the decision to pretend like nothing was wrong because it made their quick stay at home between tours go easier, like how they went out to lunch with Jae almost every other day, and the three of them would play with Reyna in the living room whenever she had a lot of energy in the bouncer Hyuck bought for her.
The evenings were reserved for you and Jae. It started innocent at first, casually cuddling together and watching a TV show he’d been dying to cross off his list for a while. But then he asked you out on a date. Of course those weren’t uncommon in the house— But you going out in public with them was next to impossible, so it struck you as odd that Jaehyun would want to run the risk of a scandal so close to his enlistment… Then again, who were you to deny him? You wanted to savor every moment with him that you could, so against your better judgment, you said yes, letting him spoil you to an entire date night out and about.
During the drive home, Jaehyun’s hand was placed high on your thigh while he massaged it fairly roughly although it was mindless so you didn’t care to stop him. He was distracting you, though. While you tried to admire the city out your window while listening to some of his music, his fingers on the inside of your leg, his cold rings against your skin, his big palm threatening to slide under your dress… You wondered if he had other intentions. He seemed preoccupied with the road while humming along to the music, but his hands seemed to be in a different world from the rest of him.
When you pulled up to the house, Jaehyun ran around the car once it was off so that he could open your door before you could even unbuckle your seatbelt. With a wide grin plastered across his face, Jae took your hand and led you inside, switching to caress the small of your back possessively as you entered the living room to find the boys playing a Mario Kart tournament— Jungwoo, Mark, Haechan, and Johnny were playing  while Yuta bounced Reyna in his arms.
Despite Jaehyun’s obvious attempts to rush you up to his bedroom, Johnny paused the game when Mark stopped the two of you with an innocent question about how your date went. Jaehyun gave a quick, half-assed reply of, “Good,” before trying to corral you again; However, you stayed to tell them about everything the two of you did. He took you to a fancy restaurant that many celebrities took all their “hidden treasures” to because of the staff’s reliable secrecy, and the fact that all the patrons were there with someone they didn’t want to be spotted with, so no one was going to snitch. After dinner, Jae drove you two around Seoul for a bit, going up some of the mountains to the look outs before driving back down to look at the city that was buzzing with nightlife.
“It was lots of fun, yes,” Jaehyun admitted with an impatient smile. “Now, if you don’t mind, she and I are going to be busy for the rest of the night.”
Hyuck looked up. “Can I join?”
“No.”
With that, Jaehyun took his hand in yours then dragged you up to his room which was second on the left, putting him between Johnny and Yuta. The door slammed shut behind the two of you once you entered. Jaehyun immediately pushed you up against the wall, his hands pinning you with nowhere to escape to as his lips began attacking yours.
“I want another one,” he muttered between kisses.
“What?”
“A baby…” He took off your dress and bra. “I want another baby.” His hands began running over your stomach. “Want the boys to send me pictures of you while I’m gone…” He left a big hickey on your neck, forcing you to hiss at the pain. “Want to know that I did it this time… That I have something to look forward to when I come back.”
You fiddled with the buckle of his pants while he latched onto a nipple. “Won’t you be sad, though?”
“Why?”
“You wouldn’t be here…”
“I’ll come back and visit every chance I get.”
“Promise?”
“Promise.”
You pushed his pants and boxers down to his ankles. He stood and took off his shirt. With your hand suddenly jerking off his hard cock, you whispered in his ear something wanton about wanting to have another baby with him, and that set Jaehyun off. He used his strength to pick you up and prop you against the wall while he replaced your hand with his own so that he could line his tip up with your wet entrance. He chuckled in your ear. It was pathetic that all he did was touch your leg in the car and beg you for a baby and suddenly you were dripping wet for him. But that was Jaehyun. He was sexually appealing just by existing, how could you not be turned on just by the mere sight of him?
Jaehyun truly wasted no time pushing into you. His hold on your body never wavered, fingers digging roughly into the undersides of your thighs so that he could support you while fucking into you at an unrelenting pace. You knew that he’d been pent up for a little bit. Ever since “the conversation”, Jaehyun hadn’t gotten laid by anyone in the house, and that was difficult for him since he was the type of guy to relieve stress by sticking his dick in something, but since you were pissed off, you didn’t entertain him, and the boys were keeping their distance too. Jaehyun had a lot of pent up energy. Between wanting to fuck-out some of his feelings and wanting to have another baby, there was really no reason for him to hold back. So he gave you everything he had.
You tangled your fingers in his hair as he continued to piston in and out of you, strangled grunts reverberating from him every time he hit your clit with his unshaved pubic bone. Even though you were trying not to think about the inevitable, it was impossible to ignore the feeling of his long hair between your fingers and under your palms as you tugged on him to force him to kiss you. Jaehyun did so eagerly, his tongue immediately claiming dominance that you always so willingly handed over to him. With your legs wrapped around his small waist, Jaehyun spun, his cock still inside of you, and he set you on the bed before immediately going back to fucking you. There wasn’t a single moment of reprieve where you could catch your breath. He had a goal in mind, and there was no reality in which he wasn’t going to fill you to the brim with load after load throughout the entire night. Who knew taking silly risks like going out in public together would get him so riled up.
“My good girl,” he cooed lovingly in your ear, “taking my cock so well.” He sucked at your neck to leave a hickey while you whimpered and bucked your hips up into him. “So eager to be filled.”
“Please, Jae—”
His grip on your body tightened threateningly.
“Please, daddy!”
Jaehyun moaned against your skin, one his hands drifting between your bodies to rub your clit as a reward for being good, calling him the name he loved so much. The fingers working on your clit suddenly stopped. You whined, squirming beneath him, desperate for the pleasurable friction to return, but Jae held you still.
“Don’t move.”
You complained with a pout, “Daddy…”
“I know, baby girl, don’t worry, I’ll let you cum. I gotta cum first, though… Then—” He slammed into you roughly. “Then you’ll cum to make sure you take in every drop. Got it?”
You nodded eagerly. “Every drop.”
“Good girl.”
His muscular body swallowed you whole as he put all his weight on the bed, his long hair falling in his face while he kissed you passionately, his legs forcing yours to stay spread wide while his cock stretched you wide, his tip making you wince because it felt like it wa kissing your cervix over and over and over again. He was being a bully. He had you pinned to the point you were immobile, left paralyzed to his will and the chorus of moans the two of you were letting out with every thrust.
“I’m getting close, princess. Shit.” Jaehyun put even more of his weight on you while his hips made shallow thrusts rather than having your hole suck in every single inch each time. “Be good and take my cum.” A final, pornographic grunt set Jaehyun over the edge. His hands squeezing your waist for dear life, his lips pressed to yours, his saliva mixing with yours. “Good girl,” he mumbled.
As he thrusted a few more times to ride out his high, Jaehyun pushed himself upright, moving his weight to his knees so that he had a clear view of your wet cunt which he decided had suffered enough and deserved to finally have an orgasm. His fingers returned to your clit. Both of you moaned when your walls tightened around his cock, pulling in his cum, which only egged him on— All of his focus was trained on making you cum with his big cock still buried inside of you. Jaeahyun was admittedly somewhat of a master with his fingers. Now that he had his sights set on his text task of forcing an orgasm out of you, his skillful fingers rubbed your sensitive nub at a fast pace but in various directions and patterns so that the stimulation was constant and overwhelming, turning you into nothing but moans and pleas for him to have some mercy on you. However, one of Jaehyun’s hands didn’t waver from your hip. He kept you as still as he could while your stomach twisted into knots, his cock all too noticeable. He seemed to know what you were thinking.
He grinned ear to ear and moved his palm from your hip to the bottom of your stomach, pressing on it slightly before he slowly moved his cock. “Feel me, princess? I’m right… here…” And then he pressed his thumb down.
“Oh, fuck— Jae— Daddy— Please!”
“Please, what?”
“Please let me cum!”
“Cum for me, pretty girl.”
You let go within an instant, your body fighting against his hold, your hands desperately clinging to the sheets and his hand that was torturing your overstimulated clit.
“Keep fucking my cock like that, princess. Just like that. So fucking good—”
He threw his head back as he twitched inside of you, another load flooding into you as your own high faded. The two of you were just trading orgasms. He was the worst.
Jaehyun finally loosened his grip and removed his fingers from your throbbing clit. Both of you slumped, but he didn’t pull out of you, instead he reached over for a pillow that he slid under your hips to keep them elevated before he rolled his thumbs over your hardened nipples for fun.
“I’ve got another few rounds in me,” he told you. You looked at him with exhausted, heavy eyes. He was glowing with energy, his hair sticking to his sweaty forehead, his toned abs extending and clenching as he panted, his muscular thighs twitching when he shifted his weight around to sink into you again. “Be good and keep your legs open for me, okay?”
You nodded, “Yes, daddy,” surrendering to his will for the rest of the night.
Tumblr media
Every day after that, Jaehyun would find a rhyme or a reason to have one of the other boys look after Reyna while he fucked you for hours on end in his bedroom. Balls deep in you, he’d always mumble things about knocking you up, having another baby, leaving you with a parting gift. For whatever reason, you didn’t take him seriously. You played into it, moaning that you wanted him to fill you up, to give you a baby… Why you never expected that it would actually happen was beyond you. Nearly three weeks straight he was fucking you into his mattress in every position imaginable. Loads and loads of his cum seeped out of you, day and night, while you were sitting at the dining table eating meals, or while you were cuddled with one of the other boys for movie night. You were an idiot to not seriously think about the consequences.
That was until the dreaded D-Day everyone’d been avoiding for so long.
Watching him from the open doorway of his bedroom, you could see that Jaehyun had pretty much everything ready to go. His hair was already cut short— Shorter than you liked, and they all knew that after the Taeyong debacle in April where Jungwoo had to apologize profusely to you for two weeks straight. His room was in perfect condition, everything was put away neatly, his clothes that were remaining at home were hung up in the closet or neatly folded in his drawers— Even though you said you would keep his clothes fresh so that he would have things to wear when he’d visit. On his desk, there was a stack of letters which you could see had Reyna’s name addressed on the front, along with dates for every week until his discharge. She wouldn’t be able to read them, but he probably expected you or one of the boys to read them to her in his stead. That hurt too much to consider. You didn’t want to think about all the ways he’d poured his heart out for her in those letters, and how you would have to say them out loud like you weren’t suffering without him, that you didn’t miss him every second he was gone.
You gathered the courage to ignore the letters so that you could finally knock on his door with a quiet sniffle. Jaehyun quickly glanced at you to see who was visiting before he returned to his packing. His suitcase was nearly full, there were just a few last minute clothes and toiletries he needed to stuff inside.
“Hi, baby girl. Come in.”
As you stepped forward and sniffled again, Jaehyun looked over his shoulder at you, then once he noticed the tears pooling in your eyes, he stopped packing and turned to you completely.
“What’s wrong?”
“Can we talk?”
“Yeah, baby. Of course.”
Jaehyun sat next to his suitcase on the bed so that he could pull you sideways onto his lap. “What’s got my baby girl all upset, huh?” He wiped away one of your tears. “I’ll be back in a few weeks—”
“Please don’t leave. Please. I’ll do anything to keep you here, just don’t leave us.”
Jae sighed and kissed your cheek, leaving his lips pressed against you while he thought for a minute. “I’m so sorry, baby, I have to go, you know that.”
You started crying even harder, clinging onto his black sweatshirt, babbling more pathetic pleas for him to not leave. He just kept saying how sorry he was between your sobs. There was no reasoning with him, the same way there was no reasoning with you. He decided that he was leaving. You decided that you couldn’t accept that. The two of you were at a standstill in which his pride and honor was winning against your emotional argument. He knew that it wasn’t easy for you to let go, so he tried to just ease your mind only slightly about seeing him off for training at the least… That still wasn’t good enough for you.
“I’m pregnant, Jae.”
He froze underneath you. “What?” he croaked.
“I took tests ‘cause I was late, and given the last few weeks, I was suspicious…”
One of his hands drifted over your stomach. “Is it mine?”
“Of course it’s yours, stupid. You wanted a baby so bad, so I didn’t sleep with any of the others the past few weeks… Of course they’re fucking yours. That’s why I can’t let you leave.”
He chuckled happily before kissing you passionately, his smile sticking to your lips. The idiot was over the moon with excitement while you were crying on his lap like a wounded puppy that had been ditched on the side of the road. That was practically what he was doing to you. Leaving you early. Leaving you on the side of the road to fend for yourself. Meanwhile he was laughing to himself, mumbling things about how happy he was, that he was relieved you were having another baby— His baby. It was exactly what he wanted, so of course the fucker was satisfied with himself.
“Please, Jae. For us, don’t leave.”
His smile faded and his eyes fell shut. “I wish I could stay… But we both knew that even if this happened, I’d still have to leave, princess.”
He tried to comfort you with a million different promises that honestly went in one ear and out the other. He would visit every single break he was given. He would be there when the baby would be born, same with Taeyong. It would be a bit longer until Doyoung or Jungwoo would enlist, so you would have them by your side through everything, keeping you company whenever he couldn’t. Everything was going to be okay. He was going to be okay—
“I don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl.”
“I know he’s a boy.” Jaehyun’s touch drifted back and forth slowly. “I’ve had dreams for the past few weeks that we’d have a boy.” Finally, his hands left your stomach to reach up and cup your face gently while he wiped your tears away with his thumbs. “We’re gonna be okay, princess. When have I ever lied to you?” You couldn’t reply, you just tucked into his touch affectionately. “I love you.”
You fisted the dense fabric of his sweatshirt in your hand to keep him close to your body. “I love you, too.”
“It’s time to go,” Johnny said from the doorway where he must have been watching and eavesdropping like you were minutes prior.
Jae sighed anxiously. “Okay, just give me a second to throw the rest of my stuff in my bag.”
“Yuta’s got Reyna downstairs for you.”
He nodded. “Thanks, hyung.”
After Johnny left, you slid off Jaehyun’s lap reluctantly so that he could finish packing while he quietly explained the letters for Reyna on his desk, how he wanted one of you to read a  letter to her once a week, every week until his return. He didn’t care if she wouldn’t remember anything in the letters. His words meant something, and he was eager to come home to her… and to you. He said that last part after zipping his bag shut and turning to face you while holding it. Eighteen months. He’d be back in eighteen months. There’d be so much to look forward to in that time, like all of Reyna’s milestones, and having another baby. He implored you to send him as many updates as possible, just so he was in-the-know and had keepsakes to get him through those eighteen months. And all you got in return was one last “I love you,” as he left the house with only a small handful of the boys to head to his enlistment ceremony.

You asked I shall deliver. I based this one-shot on a song: Rose, by Taeyong and Seulgi. Have fun reading!
Tumblr media
"Will it be okay for you to fill in Ryujin's stead?" Wendy, the senior EIC of the school paper, asks with her fingers knotted atop her office desk. "She got sick two days ago. I know it's sudden, and I understand if you don't-"
"I'll do it," You tell the older girl with a polite smile, "If my memory serves me correctly - she was assigned to take pictures of the inter-school competition of our swimming team, yes?"
Wendy mirrors your smile, albeit warmer. Her posture relaxed. "Yes. Yes, Y/N. And it's this weekend."
You recount your task, "Then you're in luck, Wendy. I'm free this weekend."
The brunette heaves a sigh of relief, "Good. That will be all, Miss Choi. You can go." You bowed your head in acknowledgment before exiting her office and proceeded to the university library to meet with your friend and confidant: Yunjin, who needs a copy of your captured photos for the school paper.
"There you are," You whisper and sit next to the younger raven-haired beauty who's busy typing on her laptop. "What did Wendy want from you?" The latter inquires without tearing her eyes from the screen. "A substitute for Ryujin," You answer her as you lean next to her; eyes following the sea of words that showed events during the last competition. "Are you almost done?"
The raven-haired beauty mutters something decipherable, and you just let her be.
"Okay," She stretches her back and gestures an open palm toward you. "The USB?"
You arch a brow at her, "Please?"
She mirrors your expression, "The USB, please, Y/N?"
A teasing grin graces your lips as you fish for it in your jacket pocket and give it to her. "Jeez," The latter grumbles before plugging it into her laptop. "Where and what?"
"Here at our university. I'll be taking the pictures of our swimming team."
Finally, Yunjin tears her eyes off her screen and blinks at you. "A sports-based competition?" She muses, "That's a first."
Indeed, for years that you've been a photojournalist, you were assigned to academic-based competitions. "That means you get to see Yonsei's pride."
"Younsei's - what?"
She gives you a look, "For a journalist, you're not updated with the times here, Y/N. What would Wendy say?"
You scowl at her, "You can't blame me for being assigned to Academics, Yunjin." You brush her off, "Anyway. What about Yonsei's pride?" She curls her lips to a sardonic smile before typing away and presenting you with a photo of the team wearing Yonsei's varsity jackets and swimming trunks. There are four of them, and three of them are familiar to you: Sungchan, the first one on the right. Hyunjin is first on the left and Minjeong who's standing next to Hyunjin.
You're familiar with the three of them. All except one. A girl standing in between Minjeong and Sungchan. The girl possesses fair skin, a small face, a V-shaped jaw, big yet fierce dark brown eyes, and a lithe physique. "So the team is the pride of the university?"
"No," She zooms in the photo of the girl. "She is. That's Karina Yoo, their captain."
"She looks mean," You observed, and Yunjin chuckled, "You're not wrong."
Your jaw slacks, "Really?"
The latter hums in agreement and pauses. "A bitch is an appropriate term, bestie." You frown at her, "That's a bit too much."
She scoffs at you, "Try interacting with her this weekend, and we'll see."
"Whatever," You huffed and eyed your USB, "Are you done uploading my pictures to your folder?"
Yunjin unplugs it and places it atop the table. "Yep, thanks, girl."
Tumblr media
You observe the team from the bleachers with your camera in your hands as cheers ricochet against the walls of the spacious gym upon seeing your team make their appearance from the ground floor. Yonsei's team wore their signature swimsuit with the university's logo placed on the left lower front area of the men's swimming trunks, while for the women: it's located on the right upper breast of their partial bodysuit.
You're not too far to get a clear shot.
The girls of your university squealed when Sungchan flexed his toned body. Although impervious to such behavior, you can't help but admire the body of the swimmer before moving your gaze onto Minjeong, who waved at her fellow peers. Both men and women cheered for the auburn-haired girl while Hyunjin put his arm around Sungchan, who also waved to Yonsei's students.
"That's three of them," You tell yourself amongst the noise, "Where's the captain?"
As if the universe answered, she finally appeared, and you swore you were about to go deaf due to their screams and cheers amplifying.
Your eyes followed their gaze, and your jaw slacked.
Karina Yoo's photos did not do her justice; she's drop-dead gorgeous in real life, and her lithe body is just a bonus to the grace that the girl exudes. You examine the captain. She couldn't be older than twenty-three.
"KARINA! KARINA! KARINA!" The students chant as she stands beside Minjeong - awaiting their opposing team while she converses with her team by huddling them. You take it as an opportunity to take their photo.
But as you take another shot, Karina's eyes flicker in your direction.
Did she? Uncertainty and confusion seep into your thoughts as if you were shamelessly caught.
You instinctively put your camera down.
She returns her gaze to her members and continues speaking while they nod. You zoom the lens and take their photo. But this time, you don't put your camera down when Karina's sharp eyes look in your direction. There's something about her gaze that makes you fix your relaxed posture; as if she's looking through your camera, and it makes you feel small - that intense gaze of hers.
You didn't take a picture and instead put your camera down. Perhaps the captain's sharp, piercing gaze meant that was enough as she and her team moved away from each other, but she stayed next to Minjeong and leaned close to the shorter girl's ear. The auburn-haired girl's eyes flicked in your direction before saying something to the taller girl.
Paranoia creeps into your body. It's not like you have done something wrong, right? You were merely doing your job as a photojournalist for Yonsei. You tear your gaze from the pair and see the team they're competing against.
You take it as your cue to descend from the bleachers as Karina's team makes their way to their assigned benches, leaving Hyunjin alone with his competitor.
While descending from the bleachers, you can feel someone's eyes following you as you make your way to the indoor pool with your camera ready. You didn't dare look in fear of seeing that intense gaze as the referee blew his whistle for the two representatives of the opposing team, and make their way to the edge of the pool's ledge.
"On your mark!" The referee bellows, "Get set. Go!"
You ready your camera.
Sometime later, it was the captain's turn.
Your peers chant the captain's name as she made her way to the pool's ledge.
Due to your proximity to the pool's side, you locked eyes with her, and you swallowed harshly under her harsh gaze.
"Jeez," You mutter as you tear your eyes from the older girl. "What's her deal?"
"On your mark!" The referee once again bellows, "Get set. Go!"
True to her title, Karina Yoo is Yonsei's pride. And so is the other members - they won and will be competing for the nationals three months from now.
After the game, your peers went down to take pictures with the winning team. By this time, they change into dry clothes with towels draped over their shoulders, and you are standing next to the pool, checking your shots, when you hear your female colleagues scream Karina's name from behind. Out of curiosity, you look back to see a group of them running toward you - correction, you look in front to see the captain approaching them, leaving you beset on both sides.
Before you can react, one of them pushes you aside. Your eyes widen, and you instinctively put your hand where you're holding your camera up as you fall into the pool.
"Oh no!" One of the students yell as you surface up with a gasp, look at your dry camera, and sigh in relief. "Are you okay?" One of them asks as they approach you intending to help.
"Yes," You gasp, "Take the camera - be careful with it, please?" The student nods in compliance and takes your camera.
You can feel holes burning on the side of your face, and without thinking, you look to the source and see Karina standing at the edge of the pool with wide eyes, her posture stiff and rigid, as if repulsed by the sight of you violating their pool.
You flush under her gaze and reluctantly take the students' hands as they help you out of the pool and hurriedly take your camera from the other student.
"Thank you," You tell them with a flushed face as you hastily exit the gym - facing burning with shock and humiliation.
Tumblr media
"Told you," Yunjin sneers, "A bitch."
A whine leaves your lips as you slam your head against your desk. "Shut up - at least the students helped me." It's been a week since the minor incident, and you told Yunjin after you change into dry clothes in the university dorm.
"Yeah," She snorts, "While the captain just glowers at you as if - what did you say?" She snaps her fingers, "Ah, as if you contaminated the pool." Then, she snickers. You glare at her while her lips curl to a teasing grin.
"Whatever," You poke your tongue at her, and she relents by putting her hands up in mock surrender. "Look at the bright side," Your friend counters, "At least your camera's safe."
"Yeah," You half-heartedly agree, "But I think I'm traumatized."
"Should I book your therapy?" She quips, "Oh wait, you're broke."
You scoff at her, "And? So are you." She stares at you, and you mimic her reaction before you two giggle as more students occupy the lecture hall.
"Alright, students!" The professor says aloud as soon as he enters the room. "Take your seats - we have a new student joining us this semester."
Murmurs echo while you and Yunjin share their curious looks as the older man looks at the entrance door. "Come in and introduce yourself." A familiar figure enters the room, and the class erupts with cheers and yells as Karina stands before all of you in casual wear in all-black: a cardigan with white accents, a tube top, denim jeans, and chunky sneakers, her hair is styled to a low, neat bun as she eyes the class, her gaze instantly meeting yours. You flinched and looked away from her and at Yunjin, who, in turn, looked at you. Both faces express surprise.
"The fuck?" Yunjin mutters while you return to the new student, gaping.
"I'm Karina Yoo," She announces, her voice is steely and attention-grabbing. "But most, if not all of you, know me as Yonsei's pride."
The class yells and whistles in agreement. The professor holds his palm up, and the class quiets down. "Alright," Your professor gestures a hand at the vacant seats, "Thank you, Miss Yoo. You may take any seat." The captain bows her head and ascends to the elevated rows of seats with each student eyeing her expectantly for her to sit next to them.
You quickly turn to Yunjin and grumble: "Just when I thought I'm finally free from what happened last week." She snickers at you, "Sucks to be you, my traumatized friend."
A muffled pained groan reverberates from your lips, but you quickly stiffen as the captain walks past your row and takes a sit two seats above you. You sigh in relief and return your gaze to your professor preparing his presentation.
"That bad, huh?" Yunjin observes as she takes out her laptop.
"Yeah," You whisper.
There it is again, that familiar burning feeling; as if someone's burning holes in the back of your head - it's the same feeling. But you chose to ignore it. Thirty minutes into the lecture, you couldn't ignore the feeling anymore and slowly peer over your shoulder. You almost jumped from your seat upon locking eyes with the swim captain. Her notebook lay forgotten. Instead, she was looking at you while the side of her face rested against her fist. Your skin prickles at the intensity, and you can feel your face flushing as her lips visibly curl upwards before slowly moving her gaze to the professor.
You quickly looked away from her and tried to focus on the discussion. But Professor Lee's words came and went out of your head. All you could do was mindlessly take notes and pictures of his slides and promise yourself that you'll go over your notes tonight.
It went on for days; you could've been used to it now. But you're not.
"I'm not being delusional, right?" You lock eyes with your friend, looking for reassurance. "I mean, it's not like I did something bad. I fell on the pool, for fuck's sake." You vent while the latter closes her laptop and sighs. "Have you tried asking her what's her problem?"
You give her a look, "Are you kidding me?"
The raven-haired girl shrugs nonchalantly, "I mean - if you want an answer from her, just ask her directly."
"Easier said than done," You mutter while she yawns. "I'll just ignore it, I guess? I mean, no harm, no foul, right?"
"Yeah," The latter looks at you, her relaxed expression turning serious. "But if she does something that makes you uncomfortable. Tell me immediately." On cue, the microwave dings. Dinner's ready. You're currently in her apartment; you can work together on your paper for the interschool competition due tomorrow.
"I will," You smile at her and stand from her couch to grab your dinner.
"Oh - come on!" You yell as the copies of the printed announcements; the latest news regarding the competition get whisked away by a couple of rushing students late for class. You put the other documents down on the floor, but not without putting your phone on top to ensure it doesn't fly away as you begin picking them from the floor.
"Hey," A slightly deep feminine voice calls your attention, "You missed this last one."
"Oh?" You turn around and freeze as the captain of the swimming team holds the copy for you. You gawk at her while she moves her line of sight to the paper she's holding.
"I look good in this photo," She remarks before looking at you. Her voice sounds softer this time. "Not bad for a picture taken from quite a distance."
"Thanks," You smile politely at the older girl as you grip the papers you're holding to calm your nerves. She raises her brow and gently flaps the paper. "My hand's getting tired. Aren't you going to get it?"
"Right," You stammer and wince at the sound of your voice as you tentatively take the paper from her, and the latter walks away without saying a word.
You let out a breath you didn't know you were holding as you looked at the paper she gave you before putting it with the rest. And as you continue your day, you couldn't help but replay the odd interaction you had with the captain.
Tumblr media
"Weird," Yunjin muses as you take your designated seats for your proceeding lecture which is in ten minutes - but something's out of the ordinary.
There's a rose atop your desk with a pink ribbon tied around its stem.
The taller girl looks at you with a playful grin, "Someone's into you."
You roll your eyes at her and sit down, "Must be for another person." You say as you carefully examine the rose to ensure there's a tag - and that it's for the right person. You freeze in your seat, and Yunjin bends to read the tag in perfect handwriting and snickers. "It's yours, Y/N."
A frown creeps in your features, "But who-"
"Keep it," She shrugs and leans closer, "What else does it say?"
"Nothing,"
The raven-haired hums and takes her seat next to you. "Anyways, keep it."
You look at her with a questioning look, "Why?"
"As evidence that someone has a good eye and chose my BFF, duh?"
You let out an exasperated groan and playfully pushed her shoulder. "Oh, shut up."
Yunjin was about to say something when she closed her mouth, and her expression became guarded. You furrow your brows and slowly follow her gaze, "What's the matter-" Your words die in your throat as Karina takes her seat next to you. Your eyes widen to the point that they were about to pop out from their sockets and snap your neck in Yunjin's reaction; eyes asking for her aid.
"Karina," Yunjin softly clears her throat, "What's the sudden change of places?"
"So I can see better," She answers curtly. Yunjin arches a brow, "You don't seem to have a problem being two seats away for the past couple of days?"
You sit there awkwardly while the two exchange cold pleasantries.
Karina shifts in her seat and looks past you, "I'd like to sit here so I won't miss any key points in the professor's lecture. What's it to you?"
Yunjin opens her mouth, but you look at her, head shaking sideways.
The latter huffs, "Alright then, enjoy the view."
"Thanks," Karina monotonously replies as more students pile into the lecture hall. You look down at the rose and shrug, "Alright Yunjin," You delicately pick up the rose and insert it into your tote bag carefully. "I'll keep it, my bedside needs decorating anyway."
From the corner of your eye, you can see Karina looking at the rose before tearing her gaze as the professor enters the venue.
"Alright students, settle down and prepare your books, notebooks, laptops - whatever you need to keep notes. We'll begin shortly."
Forty minutes into the lecture, you missed the previous slide.
"Crap," You mutter, and just as you're about to ask Yunjin if she copied the previous slide, Karina slides her phone next to you.
The screen showed a picture of the slide you missed. "Here," She whispers. You blink at her while she continues to take her notes. She must've sensed your staring and sighed, "Are you going to copy that or what?"
You snap from your reverie, "Right, right. Sorry - thank you." You whispered to her and copied the slide she pictured before sliding her phone back to her but made no move to put it back in her bag.
"I saw that," Yunjin whispers, and you jump from your seat.
"Next slide - is everything okay up there, Miss Choi?" The professor calls. Your cheeks redden as all the students, including the captain, turn to look at you. Your cheeks burn, "Yes sir, sorry."
He hums, "Moving on..."
Sometime later, it was lunchtime; you and Yunjin decided to eat outside of campus.
"So Chaewon recommended this restaurant," She opens the door for you while you carry both your laptop bags, "They sell good meat here and noodles here."
"You've been mentioning her a lot," You comment as you take a vacant table. The latter makes a face at you before looking at the menu displayed above the counter, "What do you want to eat?"
"I'll take spicy chicken and jjajangmyeon."
"Cool. Sit here. I'll go order."
You open your laptop, "And I'll pay you later." The taller girl hums and goes to the counter while you work on your task. "Do my eyes deceive me?" Another feminine voice speaks from the side. You look up from your screen, "Giselle," You greet the captain of the debate team with a smile as you close your laptop. The Korean-Japanese mirrors your smile as she inserts her hands in her jacket pocket. "It's been a while, Y/N. Are you going to eat alone?"
"No," You gesture a hand towards Yunjin who looks back and sends the other a wave. "Yunjin's eating with me. How about you? Are you going to eat alone?"
The brunette shakes her head sideways, "No, I'm also going to eat with someone." The door opens, and Giselle looks back. "There you are, Karina."
You fought the urge to drop your smile as you locked eyes with the captain of the swimming team. "Giselle," The captain regards, "You invited someone for lunch too?"
"No, no." She chuckles and pats your shoulder, "This is Y/N, the photojournalist who came with us four months ago for the nationals." She then gestures a hand towards her friend, "Y/N is this-"
"Karina Yoo," You finish for her with a polite smile, "We're classmates in Professor Lee's class."
There's a look on Giselle's face that you couldn't decipher as her eyes lit up.
"Ah, I see." She looks at Karina, who seems busy looking at the menu, and then looks at the two of you. "I'll order for us."
"Alright, alright." Giselle agrees, "I'll go get us a table." Without another word, Karina left. The debate captain looks at you with a knowing smile as Yunjin arrives at your table with iced tea, "Hey, Gi." Yunjin greets her with a grin as she puts your drinks on the table. "Hey Jen," She gives you another pat, "I'll see you two around campus, yeah?"
A hum leaves your throat as you watch the latter take a sit two tables away from you and Yunjin as more people enter the restaurant. "So," Yunjin clears her throat, "Care to tell me what was Karina sharing with you during Professor Lee's class?"
You shrug and sip your beverage, "Nothing, it was just the slide I missed."
"Okay, but what about the time your documents flew away?"
A frown graces your lips, "She was just helping."
Yunjin hums, and you lean closer. "What? What is it?"
"Nothing," She nonchalantly replies, "It's just that Karina's overall mean attitude seems to tone down with you, that's all."
"Astute observation, Yunjin." You roll your eyes at her, "Maybe she's just being a decent person? We're classmates, after all."
"Oh, yeah?" She challenges, "How come she doesn't give a damn about others?"
You open your mouth, but no words come out to your defense, and Yunjin's smirk makes you close it.
"I don't know,"
"Be observant, Y/N." She clicks her tongue, "Who knows, maybe you got the Yoo privilege."
You look at her incredulously, "I beg your pardon?"
"Yoo privilege," She snickers, "You like it? I made it while I was making my astute observation, and by that, I mean you have the privilege of her toning down her attitude toward you. I mean, she could be the one who placed the rose on your desk three days ago."
You know where this conversation's going. "Are you saying that she likes me?"
"Maybe," She grins, "Observe her, Y/N. Observe how she acts with others; how she acts with you. Then you'll know."
You consider that as the waiter arrives with your order. You sense a familiar from the side of your face. You look up from your food and meet her dark brown eyes.
And this time, you didn't flinch.
Tumblr media
You took Yunjin's advice and observed the captain.
It wasn't hard to observe her. She was never far from you, which made it easy to detect whether she was looking at you before talking to her friends.
But that still doesn't account for the roses on your desk. You tried, but with the number of deadlines piling up in journalism, you had to put your observation on pause.
"Jesus!" You snap as one of the student's coffee spills on your shirt. Murmurs echo in the hall upon witnessing an incident. "God - I'm sorry-"
"Forget it," You snap at the student as you pull the drenched fabric away from your skin and gesture for the student to go away, "Just go."
"Sorry again." The man says before awkwardly walking away while the others lose interest and walk away. "Fuck," You swore as you run your hand through your hair. "How the fuck am I supposed to go to the press conference looking like this?" You hiss as you swing your bag to the front to get your wipes. You hear footsteps approaching you and you scowl thinking it's the man who spilled coffee on you.
"Man," You sigh without looking in their direction. "You don't need to come here and-"
"Y/N," Your ears perk at the familiar tone, and you slowly turn around to face Karina standing before you with her fist securing her monogram jacquard jacket.
"Karina," You greet with slight surprise, "What are you doing here?"
She shakes her jacket, "Wear this."
"I beg your pardon?"
Instead of frowning, she keeps her face calm and uses her other hand to gesture at your shirt. "I can see the outline of - well, you know..."
You look down, and your face flushes, and with your other hand, you cover your upper body while the other takes her jacket. But you stop upon seeing the logo of her jacket, and sheepishly look at her.
"What's wrong?" She inquires. "I can't take this - it's expensive."
Karina shifts her weight on the other foot. "You'll be late for your press conference if you don't take it, Y/N." She tells you with a tone that leaves no argument. Without another word, she leaves the hall, leaving you with her jacket.
A frustrated sigh leaves your lips as you look at the expensive article of clothing before delicately donning it.
"Woah," Yunjin muses upon seeing you enter the venue. "I know that isn't yours, Y/N. Whose is it?"
"Karina's," You take a seat next to her. The latter let out a mock gasp. "Yoo privilege."
"Shut up, Yunjin."
After the conference, you stop by the EIC's office only to be greeted with roses and a freshly brewed ice latte on your desk.
"There you are!" Wendy grins as she stands next to you, "I receive our handler's feedback. You and Yunjin did a great job on the inter-school paper!"
"Yeah," You answer distractedly, "Who brought these on my desk?"
"Ah," Wendy frowns, "I didn't catch her name."
Her?
You turn to your EIC, "Can you describe her for me? What was she wearing?"
The older girl pauses in thought. "Well, she was wearing a brushed ribbed knit top, white denim jeans with a beige tag on its left pocket, and black boots."
Exactly what Karina wore when she gave you her jacket.
"I see," You mutter, and Wendy's face contorts with curiosity, "Why'd you ask?"
You brush her off, "It's nothing, thanks, Wendy."
The latter smiles, "No problem," She then turns to leave the room. "Enjoy your iced latte!"
Once the older girl is out of sight, you quickly take the rose with a tag on it, it read:
I'm rooting for you at the press conference; I hope you like iced latte to savor your victory.
-yjm
"YJM?" You move your line of sight to the iced latte, and beads of cold water slides down from the plastic cup. A smile creeps on your lips as you bring the cup's straw to your lips and take a sip, allowing the iced beverage to slide into your throat smoothly. You sigh in refreshment and place the drink on your desk. Your hands take the roses, careful from the thorns that could prick you as you study the delicate flower.
"Yunjin will hear about this."
Tumblr media
"No way," She cackles, "So she lent you her jacket and even sent roses and an iced latte to the office? Damn, Y/N. You won in life."
You carefully pick up the jacket and raise it, "How do I clean this?"
Yunjin takes the clothing from you, "Leave it to me. I know a place where they clean luxury clothing."
"Alright," You sigh and collapse on her couch. "Oh, and Y/N?"
"Yeah?" You answer aloud as Yunjin makes her way back to the living room. "Did you know Girl's Generation is having a concert in Gocheok Sky Dome?"
Your ears perk, and you sit up straight, "No? When?"
"Two days from now," She tells you and frowns, "You didn't know?"
You give her a look, "I'm not updated - I've been busy."
"Right," She sighs, "Why?"
"Chaewon got a ticket for me - I can give it to you if-"
"Woah, Yunjin," You stop her by grasping her shoulder. "She gave it to you. You're the one she invited to go with her. It would be rude if you gave it to someone else."
Her features remain concerned, "Are you sure? Chaewon would understand-"
"Yunjin," You exasperated a sigh, "It's fine. She invited you."
A genuine smile graces your lips. "I'll be fine. Just remember to make a fan cam for me, yeah?"
The next day, Yunjin gives you Karina's jacket: freshly cleaned and neatly pressed.
While conversing on your way to Professor Lee's class, your eyes shift to the entrance only to be greeted by Karina leaning her back against the wall next to the door.
"Oh shit," Yunjin snickers quietly, and you nudge her by the elbow. "Sh,"
"Karina!" You call out and was about to give her jacket back when she cuts you off. "Just give it to me after Professor Lee's class."
Confused, but you comply as she enters the room. You and Yunjin follow suit as your peers begin to fill the lecture hall.
While the older man is discussing, Karina slides next to you, startling you with a jump as she ducks her head and drops her voice an octave lower. "I have something for you after class. Is it okay if we remain after everyone else left?"
You tear your eyes from the presentation to look at her. Your cheeks heat up as you meet Karina's soft, warm gaze, but her attractive face swims with uncertainty at your would-be reply.
A soft smile creeps on your lips, "Sure, Karina. What is it anyway?"
Her features soften, and surprise etches on your face as her lips quirk to a playful smile. That's a first.
"It's a surprise," She winks before returning to her original position.
You gape at her, surprised by this new side of her. You can't wait to know what she has in store for you after Mr. Lee's class.
Fifty minutes later, the older gentleman dismisses the class. Everyone left except for you, Karina, and Yunjin.
"You go first," You tell the raven-haired girl. Yunjin flashes you a grin before getting her bag, but not without whispering: "Yoo privilege" against your ear before leaving.
You huff at the latter as you get the paper bag containing Karina's jacket and hand it to her. "Here you go, Karina."
The older girl looks at the paper bag and smiles. "Can you stand up?"
How odd, "Sure."
You comply with her innocent request and hand the bag to her. "Here you go,"
Her lips tugged to a downward smile and retrieves the bag. "Thanks, Y/N."
You let out a hum while you two stand in silence. A sigh leaves the older girl's lips before she laughs lightly - and it sounds pleasant like chimes in the wind.
"Ah - this is not what I envisioned it." She guffaws and scratches her nape. You can't help but chuckle at the older girl's disposition. "Take your time," You assure the raven-haired beauty as she inhales sharply. Is she new to this? How adorable, you thought to yourself as she closes her eyes and puffs her cheeks.
"Ok," She opens them and clears her throat. "I'm afraid that I've made a bad impression when we first met, Y/N." She sighs, "Which is why I'm going to change that tomorrow."
Tomorrow? What does she mean?
On cue, she brings out a bouquet - well not really. More like two tickets wrapped in pink silk with a pastel ribbon secured around it.
"I hope you like concerts, Y/N. Especially Girl's Generation."
My, did your heart skip a beat?
"Will you be my date for the concert, Y/N Choi?"
"Yes," You breathe, and Karina's smile morphs into a delighted grin.
"You just made me the happiest girl, Y/N."

A/N: This was from my previous re-write blog; I found it lowkey kinda cute so wanted to post it here again before I delete the other re-write blog lol
[9:10pm]
Baby fever. Nari swore she was feeling baby fever as soon as 127 met their small fan, Mali (technically, he was Mark's fan, and 127 was Mali's fan, but specifics didn't matter).
Nair smiled and cooed along with the others, laughing and cheering at whatever Mali shyly mentioned to them or showed. She could tell everyone was smitten with this young boy - including herself.
"Do you want to be an NCT member?" Nari heard one of the members ask Mali. The boy nodded in reply.
"No, no, no," Haechan and Yuta denied. "It's dangerous."
It's dangerous...
Nari felt her heart break at the members' words, spotting the hidden worry and fear in their expressions at the thought of Mali becoming a member - or an idol in general.
She pursed her lips at the sight. She knew what they were thinking of; they were thinking of what she and other members went through from pre-debut until now...
The pressure she received from the staff to become the best of the best, the expectations they had on her because her parents were well-known business people, the hate from the public thinking they were going to flop, haters, sasaeng incidents, the mistreatment she and others would get from the few staff - she understood why the members said no to Mali becoming a member.
While most of them were distracted by hanging out with their young fan, Nari stood in between Haechan and Yuta, looping her arms through each of theirs while pressing a chaste kiss on their bicep. They didn't need any verbal words from her. They knew what Nari was trying to express.
After their fans left, Nari turned to the two again. "You okay?" she asked them.
"Yeah, we're okay," Haechan smiled small, giving her a side hug while Yuta clasped his hands in hers.
"It's just a bit sad how most of our fans don't understand how serious and hard it is to be an idol, the dangers you can get into," Yuta added, squeezing her hands lightly.
"I'm okay, guys. We're okay," she assured them, outing their hidden worry. "I'm going to be fine, you know why? Because I have you all with me, and I'm not going to shut you all out like I did before, I'll be open about my struggles."
"I know, and we're glad," Yuta grinned, leaning down to press a light kiss to her forehead. "Still, you're my best friend, I'm gonna worry about you. Just like how everyone is going to worry about one another."
"Yeah, of course, I'm going to worry over my Noona!" Haechan whined, trapping her in his hold so he could nuzzle his head on top of hers with a pout. Nari laughed at the slightly ticklish feeling from the nuzzle, instinctively shying away from it to no avail. Haechan tightened his arms around her so he could kiss the top of her head happily. Only then, did he let go of her.
"Understandable," she nodded, beaming at the two proudly. "I can't believe how mature the two of you became. And it was so cute to see you worry and care about Mali, that adorable boy."
"Is this what I think I'm hearing?" Haechan gasped dramatically. Before Nari could utter her confusion, the 127 maknae turned to Taeyong. "Hyung! Noona wants a baby!"
"Lee Donghyuck!" Nari yelped, red flushing through her face at her hidden desire.
Taeyong choked on the water he was drinking from across the room.

Could we get a ocxJaehyun where he’s kinda insecure cos oc doesn’t show she’s jealous (just not a situation where he tries to make her jealous on purpose pls🥺) and when he confronts her about it she’s like “you have no idea how jealous I am, I mean look at yourself 😭😭😭” so the rest of the story may be smth fluffy like healthy communication or just smut lmao.
Pls <3
Pairing: Jaehyun x You
Genre: light angst, fluff, romance, a bit suggestive in the end
Word Count: 1.3k
Summary: After posting a picture of you and your male best friend, your boyfriend turns very jealous. After all, you're always so casual about his life, so he assumes the reason behind is that you don't find him attractive and wait for someone better to come around. If only he knew.
A/N: Thank you for requesting! I went through this 2 days ago with my bf, this hit very close to home haha
Tumblr media
“Having dinner with my best friend in the whole wide world!”
Jaehyun read the caption on your Instagram story post over and over again while his stomach dropped in the process.
The fact that the photo you had posted did not only show food, but a guy having his arm around your shoulder while you were leaning close to him put him into a rage. And his members were his target.
Jaehyun tossed his phone back into his bag and returned to the others who were currently learning a new choreography. By the change of his facial expression alone, Taeyong could tell that his mood had entirely shifted within an instant - something that unfortunately happened too many times lately.
“What’s wrong?”
he asked with his serious leader-voice, having predicted the outcome of this situation already and wanting to prevent it at all cost. There was no way Jaehyun would disturb the entire dance practice with his jealous mood again.
“Nothing.”
How he stood there though, with the corners of his lips facing downwards, eyes dark and arms folded across his chest, now everyone was alarmed and the leader had to look over their friendship for once and put Jaehyun in his place. Again.
“If it’s nothing, then act like it. We have a concert coming up,” Taeyong addressed him. “Otherwise I will have to send you away.”
Jaehyun just grumbled something, but remained silent. His friends rather had him silent than taking it out on everyone though, which was why nobody talked to him for the remaining hours again.
When practice was over, Taeyong walked up to him and took him aside.
“I’m telling you this not only as your leader anymore, but as your friend too, okay? Talk it out with her. Either that or you won’t be allowed on your phone during practice, Jaehyun. I’m serious. Everytime something like this happens, your mood is eating you up and everyone feels it. You can’t concentrate, you can’t memorize the moves, you cannot work with the others. This has to end.”
“I’m sorry.” Jaehyun dropped his head along with his shoulders, and Taeyong felt guilty, but he had to do what he was supposed to do.
He patted his friend’s back. “It’ll be fine.” And with a grin, he added, “I mean, look at you. You’re Jeong Jaehyun. You don’t have any rivals.”
-
“Hey, how was your day?” you asked Jaehyun after entering his apartment.
You were in a relatively good mood as you had had a great day with your best friend who was visiting the country for a month, and since he was living abroad the majority of the time, you tried spending so much with each other as possible.
The possibility of it irking Jaehyun had only crossed your mind when he started commenting on the photos you posted kind of snarky like “Oh, you’re out together again today?”, but since he hadn’t said anything directly, you had just brushed this feeling off.
Today though, he didn’t look good at all, it was written all over his face, no matter how hard he tried to conceal it with a fake smile that he usually reserved for cringy fancalls.
“Are you okay?” you asked when you followed him into the living room. “You can tell me, you know?”
“Yeah, I’m okay. It’s just…” He took a deep breather. “I haven’t heard from you all day.”
“I’m sorry, I was busy. You know I’m rarely on my phone when I'm with people. I don’t want them to feel like I prioritize anything else over my time with them.”
He shrugged. “But there is always enough time to post on your Instagram story.”
Jaehyun could have bitten into his own tongue as he was usually very composed, but before he could redeem himself, you had already put the puzzle pieces together.
He was jealous.
He shook his head. “I’m sorry, I’m just-’”
You got on your tiptoes and cupped his face. “Jaehyun… please tell me exactly what’s wrong. You know there is nothing to worry about since he has a girlfriend too and that’s just how we are together. I always told you that.”
He averted his eyes, but you remained yours. “You’re always so casual and excited about everything. You like all my posts, my stories, comment encouragingly and supportingly on them, no matter when and no matter with who. Even if I don’t find time to reply to you, even if something holds me back from returning you the same energy. Am I the only one who cares?”
“Care about what?”
“That someone might take you away from me.”
“Jaehyun…” You tilted your head. “Why would you think that?”
“Because you never reacted the same way as I. No matter where I am, what I do or what kind of videos and pictures pop up online. You never seem to be bothered, and yet here I am, not being able to return this feeling, because even when a guy looks at you, I want to get you out of his eyesight. Does it mean I’m just not that attractive in your eyes, so you’re not worried at all? I genuinely want to know.”
Your mouth stood open over the fact that your boyfriend, possibly almost every girl in your age range’s ideal type, was assuming you didn’t find him handsome. His perfect face, that graced screens, placards, phones and everyone could stare at whenever and how often they wanted. He thought he wasn’t attractive, because you didn’t show jealousy.
Of course you were jealous as hell.
You brushed with your thumbs over his cheeks, trying to ease him. “Every day, so many people get to see this handsome face and experience your kind character. Just look at yourself. Of course I’m jealous too. Sometimes, especially when you’re touring, they see you more often than I, and I get to backtrack everything online, what you’re doing and saying, after them, after strangers. And the things they write… I don’t want to see, but I cannot close my eyes. At times, the pain gets so unbearable that I have to log off and trust that you eventually call me and tell me about everything.”
Jaehyun frowned and his former dark mien shifted into a frown. “I didn’t know all that.”
“Of course you wouldn’t know, because would that benefit me in any way? No. I trust you and only you. Everyone else doesn’t matter. I don’t have any influence, so I try to distance myself from it. So, I’m sorry if you ever feel like I don’t find you attractive enough, because I don’t show it in that kind of way. It’s just… I will always get painfully reminded that so many other people feel that way too. And every single one of them would take you away from me in an instant if they ever get the opportunity.”
"Nobody will.”
“I know.”
Something inside Jaehyun cracked when he saw you being so honest and also so confident about it. So, you were feeling the same about the other, you just had different ways to express and cope with it.
Jaehyun took your hand into his and kissed your palm. “I’m sorry for being so insecure sometimes and not having more faith. We love each other, we want to be with each other, I shouldn’t make you feel down with my problem. I should be more like you. It’s the healthier way. Please show me how.”
“Baby steps,” you told him and took his hand into yours. “But first, let me prove to you how attractive I find you.”
“Maybe it will take you more than one time to convince me.”
“That’s fine.”

THE BLUR: I Love the Lie
Tumblr media
A NCT MAFIA AU
They knew she was the end but still chose to hold her hand.
They were monsters but she was their desire.
They believed what they wanted to believe and they trusted the lie.
Because she loved the lie.
She was the silent storm in the peaceful chaos of night.
Without her, the story is a blur and with her, it's a lie.
The memory which is too good to be a nightmare and too pathetic for a dream.
And he kept the memories forever.
