"Here's the dining area!" Taehyung fakes excitement as he leads the party further into your home, "I set the table."
You crouch down, catching your daughter in a tight hug, “Hi, baby,” you whisper into Nao’s hair.
For a second, you could pretend everything was normal. Just you and your kid. No pink hair highlights.
But then you stood up and saw Yoongi standing awkwardly behind Naomi.
“Hey...” Yoongi greeted you softly. His eyes briefly met yours before flicking back to Nao, “Hyejin wanted to meet you, and, uh… she brought dinner.”
You forced a small, tight-lipped smile.
Dinner. She brought dinner. As if that made any of this easier. Still, you nodded once, knowing you had no choice but to go through with this.
Hyejin had walked into your kitchen by now, snooping around with curious eyes. She wants to know you so bad. Picking up a random iron skillet from the drying rack, she observes the room intensely.
She eyes the colour scheme you picked out for your whole house. It's plain but not bland, she notes. White. A little... woody. Vintage. Yet very colourful and so full of personality.
A lot of well-executed DIY projects, most likely done with your daughter--- a windchime, stained glass paintings, miniature clay figurines, jars of seashells, hanging jellyfish lamps, personalized ceramic plates and mugs with designs painted and characters sculpted onto them.
Hyejin finds you fascinating.
She noticed a bunch of crocheted tapestries. Similar to the ones in Yoongi's room. She had always found it an odd design choice in his home. But, it makes perfect sense in yours. And obviously, she finally understood where he got it from.
And she can't wait to finally get to know the woman who had her soon to be husband wrapped around her finger for years.
Yoongi never told her why you broke up but she intends to get that information out of the two of you today.
Suddenly snapping out of it, you speak stiffly, “Oh, um, thank you,” gesturing at the bags of food place on the coffee table.
Your eyes dart towards Hyejin, who was already gliding back to you sporting a bright, effortless smile.
“It’s so nice to finally meet you, _____,” Hyejin smiled warmly, "Your home is lovely. You really are a true creative."
Whatever that means.
“I hope it’s okay I tagged along. I’ve been wanting to meet you for a while now. Yoongi never talks about you."
Oh!
That definitely didn't hurt.
You smile, not knowing what to say. Simply nodding, “Thank you. And sure, it’s fine.”
But it wasn’t fine.
You still felt disrespected.
Taehyung’s brows raised slightly, but he didn’t comment either. Instead, he offered you a supportive smile from behind Hyejin and mouthed, 'You’ll be okay.'
You can only hope you would.
Yoongi knew how fragile you were, and how hard it was for you to see them together, but he had let this happen anyway.
Yet, you understood Hyejin too.
It isn't really her fault. You'd have felt better about it had this been your decision.
"Mimi, go wash up for dinner." Yoongi instructs his daughter.
Then Hyejin chimes in, "But remember not to get your hair wet! _____, do you have a shower cap she can borrow?"
Your mouth drops open a little and your ears start to heat up.
Who does this woman think she is? She's talking to you as if you're not Nao's MOTHER.
What the hell does she mean 'Do you have a shower cap she can borrow?'
That's your kid, not hers.
Not realising you were glaring at Hyejin, you forced out yet another smile. This time it was glaringly obvious.
"She has one. She knows where to find it. Don't you, Nao?" You smiled down at her fakely.
Your daughter grabbed at your dress, "Yeah. But it's okay if I don't use it. My school doesn't allow colourful hair. We'd get into trouble." She directed the last half to Yoongi's fiancée.
Oh, thank goodness it wasn't permanent dye. You breathe a sigh of relief.
Hyejin's smile drops a little but she recovers almost instantly. "Oh, wouldn't you want to twin with me though?"
Is this lady emotionally manipulating your kid?
You don't give Nao a chance to respond because you knew she'd never want to hurt anyone's feelings and you hate that she's pushed in a corner now. "Wash your hair, honey," you smile down at her sweetly, "Use mommy's shampoo if you need to."
Yoongi finally decides to intervene. "Or we could let Mimi make her own choice. She knows the consequences, and is smart enough to decide what's better for her."
And unsurprisingly, ever the diplomat (which is odd because he's literally a lawyer by trade), he won't take sides.
Sadly, he's wrong this time.
Your squint your eyes at him as if you can't understand him, "What consequences? There's a consequence. Just the one. And she already stated it. We'll get in trouble with her school."
Your anger is a bit misdirected when you demand your daughter to clean up, "Go wash your hair, Naomi. I don't want to see even hint of colour that's not natural."
Nao's eyes widen before she runs off pouting. She knew you hadn't meant to scold her but it still upset her.
This is exactly what you were worried about.
You look at Taehyung pleadingly, prompting him to check on Nao. He immediately complies and chases after her.
You weren't ready to deal with Yoongi's new life now because you knew you wouldn't be able to digest it. You did not want Nao taking the heat for something that isn't her fault. But you suppose that's inevitable because you still haven't learnt to process your feelings and emotions about Yoongi.
Also, in all honesty, you could've dealt with the school. It wasn't that serious of an issue. They aren't too strict on the appearance discipline, especially hair.
You're on a roll now though.
"And what the hell are you doing altering my daughter's appearance without consulting me anyway?" You don't know who you squeaked it at but it was definitely warranted for.
"She's my daughter too, _____." Yoongi speaks cooly yet firmly.
"Exactly. She's yours and mine. And I need to be part of every decision making process," you scoff frustrated, "I mean, how would you feel if Taehyung and I decided to chop her hair off? What if the three of us get... I don't know, bowl cuts?" You're on the verge of yelling.
Yoongi looks bewildered, "You wouldn't do that."
You record the time. This is the moment you think Yoongi finally understands you.
"That's the point, Yoongi!" You exclaim. "Of course I wouldn't because I'm not fucking stupid!" You place emphasis on 'stupid', "-and I respect you!"
The jab wasn't subtle.
"What are you implying? That Hyejin is? That I am? That we don't respect you?"
"Oh, am I wrong?" You raise a brow.
"It's just some hair dye."
"That's not the issue here," you suddenly point at his fiancée, "And why are you calling my kid Nao?"
Hyejin's eyes widen at the sudden attention. She looks to Yoongi for help.
Taehyung reemerges from Nao's room when he hears arguing.
He observes Yoongi's stance and his explosion radar goes off, "O-okay, why don't we just-" but before he could even try to diffuse the situation, Yoongi loses it on you.
"God, _____, what the hell is wrong with you?!"
A sharp pang hit your chest, it felt as if the air had been sucked out of the room.
He's never yelled at you before. He's yelled with you, around you, maybe even about you but never at you.
Moreover, he did not deserve to scream at you.
You wish you could just pout and run away into your room like your daughter had.
Instead you stand your ground and stare at Yoongi's face, challengingly.
Hyejin just stood back, a little bewildered. She's surprised Yoongi had it in him to scream this loudly. And he's the least angry, most stable person she knows. Though, she doesn't know how to feel about him treating you like this.
On one hand, she's elated that he's speaking in her defence. And on the other, she's worried she'd be on your bad side after this. And that you'd keep Nao from her. If she didn't have a relationship with Nao, she can't possibly continue being with Yoongi.
For a while, nobody said anything. Taehyung was too afraid to even breathe let alone say anything.
The two of you were like a pressure cooker.
And let's not get into what Yoongi said--- 'What's wrong with you?'
You'd like to know. Clearly, something must be wrong because you don't know why he'd marry a woman after months of dating but not you even after years of being together and even having a child with.
You watch as Yoongi's fiancée grasps his hand to calm him down.
There have been very few moments when you've wished you had one of your classic cream pies to smash in someone's face.
Now is one such instance.
And then it happens.
Your vision begins to blur.
Not wasting any time, you wrap your arms around yourself in a soothing manner and storm off into your room, refusing to break down in front of a stranger.
You wanted to make a good impression so badly but it was just too soon.
Yoongi swiftly shook Hyejin off of him to follow you but was pulled back by a strong arm. Taehyung.
He glares at the taller man before yanking his arm back, continuing after you.
Before you could slam and lock your door like a petulant child, Yoongi blocks it with his foot, "Stop."
"I don't want to talk to you." You assert.
"Then don't. Just listen to me." He suggests. More like demands. His face was stoic as ever with maybe a hint of discomfort and remorse now.
"Please?"
Outside, in the living room, Heyjin and Taehyung awkwardly lingered.
Taehyung breaks the silence, "You just had to do this now, didn't you?"
Hyejin doesn't reply but gives him a pointed look.
As much as she trusts Yoongi, she doesn't trust you and Yoongi locked in a room together. She noticed way too much passion for two people who've broken up.
Unfortunately having crossed way too many boundaries already, she can't help but just wait.

Your trip is slowly but surely coming to an end.
Minus some bumps along the way, it's safe to say you had a great time either way. You and Jungkook have managed to talk like proper adults and it went well. But most importantly, you've made up. It is sad there's goodbyes soon to be said. You kind of wish you could stay here for at least another day.
But all of you have to go back to adult life. The weight is lifted off your chest, practically non-exist as you and Jungkook share a soft smile while all of you pack your things. Well – except Taehyung who's sitting on one of the portable chairs with sunglasses on, too hungover to help his best friend who's been complaining for the past ten minutes.
"I take it you finally made up." Maya comes up to you, folding up a thin blanket when there's no one nearby.
"We finally talked." you answer.
She surely notices the relaxation behind your tone and features, causing her to smile knowingly instead of saying anything for a moment.
"And? How did it go?"
"Good. Great, actually. I explained myself well and we both had something to apologize for. It's not even about the apology. I think us talking is more important and even though I was pretty scared and unsure to just walk up to him and talk, I'm glad I got it off my chest."
"Being honest is not always easy but I knew you guys would work it out. From what I heard, your friendship has always been strong." Maya grins.
"How do you know that?"
"Namjoon," she chuckles simply. "But that doesn't matter. Even I can confidently say it's true. And I haven't known you for too long and I solely know this just from seeing you and him, plus hearing you talk about him."
You avert your gaze to the ground, your shy smile causing you to feel even more shy when you feel her eyes on you.
"I'm jealous though. The sex after such an argument is gonna be amazing."
And just like that, the air shifts and your gaze snaps toward blunt Maya who's already grinning, expecting your reaction of shock and disbelief.
"Yeah, that's not happening." You cringe, muttering.
"You don't want to? Wow, I mean—shit." Maya's the one who's shocked which has you snickering under your breath. She's unbelievable.
"Not that I don't want to, but we've decided to take a break from... the sex part."
"And whose stupid idea that was?" she exclaims, a laugh escaping from your lips the moment you see her face while she dramatically leaves her mouth open.
"Mine."
"That explains it."
"Hey!"
She laughs, letting you know she's only joking.
"I thought it would be for the best. I can't really explain it. I just think it's time for a break."
You're not going to tell her he fucked you in the woods while you both were unable to communicate together and were pissed off at each other. While you don't find it uncomfortable to be talking with her about your sex life, there are some things that are better left between you and Jungkook only. It's not like you're embarrassed about it but it feels too personal and intimate to talk about it openly. In the end, just like you told Jungkook, you wanted it at that moment and you don't regret it happening. He was right when he said the sex was good. It always is.
But anyway... you two hooking up surely changed a few things between you and him. You let lust control you and while you believe sex like this doesn't necessarily have to mean a bad thing, you wonder how else would you solve it if you weren't hooking up.
It's all frustrating and it seems like there are a few things you can't answer because it's that confusing. And you don't understand them.
It might sound all dramatic but it's nothing like that. It's no big deal. You'll continue your friendship the same way and the only difference will be sex. You can't think about it too much, knowing once your hormones get the best out of you, you're going to have a hard time accepting your own idea.
"What about you guys? Are you ready to go back home?"
Maya groans, tilting her head back as she nods. "Yeah, I could do another day here. Though we've got a wedding to plan."
"Do you know what month it's gonna be?"
"We don't. We're about to make some calls and meet up with a few people to see which place is closest to our terms. I'm excited, don't get me wrong, but it's so stressful to plan everything. We definitely want it to happen this year after having a conversation. But summer is pretty much all booked everywhere, unless we want some unaesthetic and cheap place."
She sighs before smiling.
"But it's okay. Joon is a huge help and he's very much involved. We're doing everything together."
"That's great. Let me know if there's anything I can help with. I'm not sure how I'd be able to help, I know shit about weddings but just call me if there's anything I could do."
Maya gives you an appreciative smile. "You're a sweetheart."
With a smile on your face, you start folding a sleeping bag which you're sure belongs to Yoongi, who (surprisingly) is cleaning up the truck of his car so everything is neat and good to go. You're unaware of Maya's stare that's aimed behind you until she speaks up.
"A stupid sweetheart if you decided not to fuck him."
"What?" you mumble, following her eyes.
There he is.
Jungkook stops his task to grasp the hem of his shirt, bringing it up and dabbing the tiny droplets of sweat covering his forehead. That wouldn't be the issue if he didn't expose his abs to everyone's eyes – even though only you and Maya are staring – showing his bulky chest. Dryly gulping, you quickly turn around and nudge Maya to look away.
She gives you a knowing look, offering you a friendly pat to your shoulder as you click your tongue in annoyance.
They're just abs. Ones you've seen multiple times. You're fine.
You're going to be fine.
You still rush to pack your things, not even glancing in Jungkook's direction. Too scared to see him doing bare minimum and look absolutely hot while doing it.
Everything went back to normal. Well, new normal.
Yoongi acts like he hasn't spent a whole weekend with you, still patiently waiting for his lunch every day. Even on the way back home, he barely said a word and hummed quietly to his playlist. Surprisingly, you took a decent nap, catching up the lost sleep you experienced the night before.
After four days of constantly buying Yoongi a lunch, you regret ever inviting him more and more each day. The man demands his lunch, holding you up to your deal. Are you surprised? No. Were you hoping he would leave you alone after a few days? Yes .
The group chat is full of memes and possibly dates to hang out again, reminding you of your supposedly summer vacation. After the camping trip, you're a little bit more wary to plan something longer and serious than just a casual hangout. It's pretty stupid. One argument shouldn't hold you back from experiencing new memories with your friends.
You and Jungkook haven't really spoken since the camping trip. You got to say a warm goodbye and ever since then, both of you have been too busy jumping back to your lives to talk. You know you're fine though. In your friends group chat, you've replied to one another a few times – mostly reacting to the memes or just to joke around. So far, there's not much change in your relationship with Jungkook. It feels pretty same and you know it's only because you haven't had the time to hang out and be alone. Is it stupid of you to say that you're a little bit nervous when that time comes?
However, it eventually comes just when you anticipate it and you don't avoid it. This has been your idea after all.
You and Jungkook text back and forth, this time in a separate chat without prying eyes of Jimin and Taehyung. Jungkook's days and evenings are fully packed. There's not much time to hang out typically at your or his place – which again might be dangerous and too soon for you. You're being dramatic, that's for sure. But once he comes up with a plan, for some reason you agree even if his plan is the least common place to hang out for you and him.
Stepping inside the building, you're surprisingly met with a nice scent of freshness instead of sweat and testosterone. The gym Jungkook visits is certainly popular and modern, based on the fully packed gym and its interior that has a sweat already rolling down your back.
“This is most certainly new.” you mutter, eyes wide staring around you as Jungkook cackles, leading you toward the front desk.
There, of course, is a young female receptionist wearing a cropped tank top with leggings as if she's the one that's about to work out. Once again, Jungkook's often visit here shows when she easily recognizes him and both drops formality, which you don't expect.
While Jungkook goes to equip your gym access after you greet each other with the receptionist, you silently standby and listen to their conversation. You're aware of Jungkook's membership here and judging by the clear sight of the receptionist recognizing and knowing him, he doesn't have to show anything to prove his identity.
“Are you interested in getting a trainer for this session?” she asks, eyes jumping between you and Jungkook.
“No.” You and him speak at the same time.
Nodding, she clicks off a few things on the computer before she says the price for a single access which has your eyes almost falling out their sockets. You and Jungkook both pull out your wallets. Desperately trying to beat him, you're too late as he pulls out his card sooner and pays.
“I could've paid for myself.” you point out, pursing your lips in a mere annoyance. Can't lie though. Your heart surely feels lighter knowing you haven't had to pay such a price for a full hour and half of torture.
Suddenly, Jungkook's plan doesn't seem that good at all. You would very much test your willpower back at his or your place.
“I know you could've.” he sings out annoyingly, leaving you to roll your eyes at him as he thanks the woman, leading you away. “It was my idea, I know this gym is a bit pricey and you're not exactly the type to spend money on something like this.”
“Yah!” you nudge him, met with a toothy grin as he teasingly nudges you back. “What are you saying? Maybe I'll enjoy working out. I should work on those muscles.”
You and him share a look, grinning at each other after cracking up a few moments later, knowing very well he's right and you're full of shit. Working out is not exactly your priority. You have enough exercise when working, constantly on your feet all day. Not mentioning how much you walk and sometimes rush to get Yoongi his fucking lunch. But well, that's completely on you. It's a nice reminder to never do that again. To involve him in your stupid plans.
While Jungkook leads you to the gym equipment (you're sure he would know his way around blindfolded), you're trying your best not to stare at all those muscular and slim people around you. Damn, you're really out of place right now. They all seem to know what they're doing.
“You wanna lift some weights?” Jungkook asks, tossing down water bottles and two towels he grabbed from home for you and him. “Wait, you did some stretching before coming here, right?”
When he's met with silence, he looks up just to see your brow raised with a frown on your lips. He sighs, disapprovingly and not very subtly shaking his head as he mutters your name.
“I got into this bizarre outfit right after I got from work!” you exclaim, pointing at yourself.
You tried your best, alright? A simple black leggings and an oversized shirt. It's definitely not the hottest outfit you would often see on Instagram of some fitness model, or just most women who work out and want to look nice. But who cares?
“And I don't ever stretch. Nobody's got time for that.” you mutter.
Jungkook snickers, some of his hair falling and shielding his forehead as he sits down on the bench. “You should stretch every morning, regardless if you work out or not.”
He used to stretch your muscles in other ways.
Oops –intrusive thoughts!
“Alright, alright.” You roll your eyes at him which has him laughing.
“Okay, do some basic stretching while I do some lifting.” Already seeing your disapproving face, he continues. “Trust me, you're gonna thank me later.”
“But you said you would go easy on me!”
He did say that. In fact, he doesn't plan to destroy you on your first proper work out session. And probably the last because who knows? You're unpredictable sometimes.
But instead of calming down your nerves, he lies down but not before shooting you a smirk. “When have I ever?”
He starts lifting the heavy weight, pressing his lips tightly as he occasionally groans, some of them taking you far away from the gym. Still standing there, you dryly gulp and wonder, why the fuck you haven't invited him over instead? Suddenly, it sounds way more safer than this for numerous reasons.
Jeon Jungkook is coming for your neck.
All he does is the same thing he would’ve done if you weren’t here. He’s focused, checking on you to see if you’re really stretching your muscles like he has advised you from time to time. While he’s oblivious to your inner thoughts and how much you’re actually trying to ignore the way his muscles tense and flex during his workout, he makes sure to give you a stern look every time he sees you flaking.
He would’ve been a stern trainer, that’s for sure.
One thing about him is that he takes his job and hobbies very seriously. He doesn’t like when people fuck around — maybe that’s why he’s so opposed to take Taehyung to workout with him. You’re clear Taehyung would enjoy being here just as much as some of the female audience clearly enjoy watching Jungkook. Obviously, he would not enjoy them eyeing and salivating over him, but rather appreciate the clear attention because you know they would eye Taehyung just as much.
But Jungkook stays focused on himself, partly focused on you while you’ve been stretching your legs for the past five minutes until Jungkook reminds you to switch and stretch other parts with breathless voice.
Once he finishes, he sits up and takes a short break as he watches you with an amused expression, sparkles dancing in his dark brown eyes.
“What?” you huff out. “Am I doing it wrong?”
“No,” he laughs. “I just never thought I’d see the day of you working out.”
Straightening up, you flip him off with a sarcastic smile which allows him to laugh even more. “Don’t sweat it. I’m not working out yet.”
After a minute, you stop stretching feeling like you’ve done a decent job. Met with Jungkook’s gaze, you purse your lips.
“You know… we could’ve gone to a cinema or do something instead.”
“Complaining already?” he asks amusingly, resting his arm over his thigh as he manspreads himself.
Are you? It definitely sounds like it and to be honest, you're not sure. You thought spending time with him just hanging out would be a great opportunity to get your friendship back to the old ways. Even though there was a thought in the back of your mind of how that was going to go when you simply imagined Jungkook's sweaty body. You've had the opportunity to see him working out at his place and even back then, you had an awful time trying not to gawk at him.
With the never-ending thoughts, you grow more upset at yourself. Jungkook is one fine piece of man and that's definitely not how you only see him. He's much more than that. When you look at him, you see him . Not just the physically attractive side of him. Not the way those girls are still eyeing him shamelessly.
Although, you're not complaining for a reason Jungkook might think. You're not the athletic type like him, he knows that – hell, everyone knows it around you. Or perhaps, it's the tiny bit of this reason too. This is what you wanted.
Perhaps you made things more dramatic and serious than they have to be. Looking at Jungkook, seeing his toothy grin he sends your way while he's completely oblivious to your inner (and annoying) thoughts, some of the weight lifts off your chest.
“Not at all.” you assure him, ignoring his knowing look but luckily, he doesn't call you out on your bluff.
“Come on, maybe we should do some cardio now. Get you heated up a little.”
Don't worry, you already took care of it, you think as you nod with a tight smile, following him across the room.
Jungkook sets up the treadmill for you, setting up a manageable pace for you before he joins you.
While music hits of this year blasts through the speakers, he advises you to focus on your breathing before he informs you you're going to do a few miles. Jungkook is keeping up with you, not sticking to his usual routine and for that, you're grateful. It feels nice to do the same thing together, just being in each other's presence even though there's not much time to actually have a conversation.
After a while, you notice the same women who were shamelessly watching Jungkook the entire time since they noticed him, join you on the treadmills. Scoffing a little under your breath, you glance at Jungkook who's too focused to even notice anything.
As you open your mouth to comment on it in front of him, Jungkook is in his own world as he suddenly tugs his shirt over his head before he tosses it over the handrail. That's when he must sense your prominent eyes on him as he glances your way.
“Seriously?”
“It's getting hot.” he explains, shrugging as he continues totally unbothered.
Huffing out, you tuck a strand of hair behind your hair that has managed to get out of your ponytail. “You're aware of your fanclub here, right?”
“What?” Jungkook breathes out, shooting you a confused look. “What are you talking about?”
You snicker, “There are like three women who have been eyeing you since the moment they spotted you. They even followed us here, so they could stare .” you inform him amusingly, shaking your head when you see his frowned expression. “Oh come on. Don't tell me you're not aware. It probably happens every time you come here.”
You're not dumb and neither is Jungkook. He's definitely not clueless how many female gazes he catches (sometimes even male).
“I wasn't aware of them . But yeah, it happens.” he admits almost shyly, clearing his throat.
You trace his tattooed arm with your eyes for a moment, before saying: “Has anyone hit on you while you were working out?”
“Y/N!” he exclaims, sounding almost scandalized by your blunt question. “I said focus on your breathing.”
Is Jeon Jungkook being flustered? It only spurs you on and spreads your cheeky grin even wider. “Oh, so you do get hit on.”
Jungkook huffs, “Yeah, it happens sometimes.”
Hm, sometimes. You're not sure if you believe that.
“How fast?”
“What is this?” Jungkook laughs, “Are you interrogating me?”
“Just curious.”
You really are. You haven't experienced being at the gym with him before. It's fascinating how he behaves here. Not that he's different or something, but it is quite interesting to witness this part of his life.
He sighs when she spots your curious gaze and the cheeky grin, rolling his eyes at you before he huffs out his response. “It usually happens by now. But you're here with me, so I'm guessing that's what holds them back.”
Why is that not surprising? Instead of feeling anything negative, you find that fact amusing and it makes you chuckle. “Oh, should I leave? Give them a chance to come here?” you joke, laughing even more when you see Jungkook's glare.
“You're annoying.”
In the midst of your laughing, you notice him cracking a grin which he has tried to hide. Your body feels lighter, despite your muscles growing tired already, but the moment between you lingers. This is how it felt before. Just you and him – teasing each other.
Turning off the treadmill sooner than you should've (after hoping you've clicked the right button), you take the small towel Jungkook has brought you and wipe your forehead. You bite back the laugh that wants to come out when you see Jungkook's suspicious stare.
“Scared I'm gonna leave?” you tease, causing him to huff out as he cuts off his run and turns off the equipment.
“Don't you dare.” he says, wiping his own sweat as he grabs the bottle of water and takes a few gulps.
While his head is tilted back, throat bobbing at the way he gulps, you find yourself eyeing his buffed out chest. You don't expect to see Jungkook's eyes on you as soon as you look away from the amount of naked flesh, cheeks heating up immediately as his lips curl into a smirk.
“Stop teasing me.” he simply says, moving closer as he drapes his towel over his shoulder.
“Are you sure I'm the one that's teasing?” you ask silently, eyes flickering down to his chest again as he chuckles.
“I always tend to take off my shirt. I promise I'm not teasing.”
You believe that. Jungkook doesn't owe you an explanation and after all, you do know very well he prefers to be as naked as possible. Looking around, you spot a few guys shirtless as well and it's not that unusual to see the extra skin here.
“Perhaps you could control yourself a little, you know, around me.” you say with a cheeky tone, pointing at his body as he plays your game, humming while nodding.
And then he does something unexpected. He brushes his thumb across your bottom lip, feeling the softness of it as it feels like he prints his fingertip to the skin he tasted many times before. “You wanted the break, remember?”
The way he drops his tone but still keeps it light and teasing causes your heartbeat to pick up its pace. Stop, stop, stop . Hearing the warnings and red lights going on in your head, you stay rooted in your spot as Jungkook drops his hand, lips twitching.
He's not oblivious when it comes to you though. He can tell your single body language or expression from miles away.
“Perhaps you're the one who needs to control yourself a little.” And then he's patting your shoulder in a comforting manner.
He walks away, laughing and fully content at your speechless appearance, ushering to continue in your routine as you mindlessly follow him. But not before sending a small glare toward Jungkook's fanclub, seeing them whispering among themselves.
Surprisingly, things go back to normal and there's no teasing happening after that. While your heart still beats a little faster than it should've – and it's definitely not from working out and following Jungkook's instructions – the lingering tension is almost not there. Jungkook is back to being serious, showing you the right way to do things when needed and you listen obediently, doing an actual good job at it. Even if he's back in your mind during all of that, you find yourself to be distracted enough to enjoy your time here. And just you and him hanging out.
Hour and a half passes quickly. Quicker than you previously thought it would. You get separated when it's time to take a shower and change clothes. Jungkook is finished soon, waiting for you at the reception (no surprise) as he's chatting with the receptionist again. Once he sees you done, he bids a goodbye and wraps his arm around your shoulder.
“So, what are you saying? Are you gonna be my workout partner?” he teases, the two of you walking out of the building as he leads you to his parked car.
All you can muster to do in response is to let out an awkward chuckle. “I would rather not.”
For obvious reasons.
Tossing the packaged food, beef burger and big fries precisely, onto the desk, you watch the bane of your existence slowly turn his chair in your direction as he makes sure you see his well amused and annoying grin. Delivering him a huge sarcastic and tight smile, you hold yourself back from wrapping your hands around his neck and choke him.
Min Yoongi has been nothing but a big menace. The worst thing is that you can't really complain because you agreed to it.
Today, he requested to get a burger with fries for his lunch. The closest place is around twenty minutes from your workplace by a car, so you spent most of your lunchbreak getting his fucking burger, waiting for them to prepare it and then driving back. Your bank account is slowly starting to cry. Or is that you ?
“Why thank you.” he beams sarcastically, sniffling the air around him as he leans closer to the packed meal, only spurring your annoyance for sure.
“It's not like I had a choice.” you remind him sweetly.
“A deal is a deal.” he sings out, the sound of you taking a deep breath causing his lips to twitch.
You don't give him the joy of begging him, or even trying to talk him out of this. After all, he's not wrong. You like to think of it as your punishment for making a stupid decision. Overall, it wasn't that bad and for that, you're glad. Yoongi (surprisingly) got along with the guys and for what could be assumed a weak moment, he even told you he was enjoying the time there. It was certainly a weak moment on your part when you allowed yourself to cry in front of Min Yoongi. Somehow, you managed to convince him to hug you. The awkward hug makes you cringe till this day and you're sure Yoongi feels the same. However, he seemed to have his own weak moments for sure. Why else would he ever assure you that he did have a good time? Min Yoongi is not all bad, deep down you know that.
“So how are things with your boyfriend?” He starts unpacking his meal, the scent filling the room as the office is yet to be filled with your colleagues. Most of them haven't gotten back from their lunch breaks, but that will soon change as it's supposed to end in five minutes. Unless they don't want Junho to come for their asses and spend the rest of the day listening to him complaining.
“Good?” you ask confusingly. “Since when do you care?”
“I don't, but today has been boring as fuck.” he says simply, taking the first bite of the hamburger you paid for. You ignore the way your mouth salivates. You've managed to eat fries on your way here – something Jungkook would surely scold you for. He wouldn't approve of you eating while driving. Good thing he doesn't know.
“I told you I'm not here for your amusement, Min.” you remind him.
“Back to last name basis? I thought we're closer than that after our weekend together.” he says loud enough for Benjamin to hear who's passing by, your cheeks flaring hot as he gives you both a weird look, luckily continuing his way toward the breakroom, you assume.
“Our weekend? First of all, ew,” You cringe, erupting a laugh from him as his cheeks are puffed out with the hamburger. “And seriously? Do you really want rumors to start going around?”
“Nobody would believe I would go for you, relax.” he scoffs while your jaw drops to the floor. Once you collect yourself, you sit yourself on the edge of his desk.
“You did go for me once, as far as I can remember. And if I remember correctly, you did tell me my pu–”
“We don't talk about that.” he cuts you off abruptly, worth enough for you to say the words aloud when seeing his reaction as he looks flustered of you bringing it up.
It's not like you wanted to, he didn't give you a chance.
“Me and my boyfriend are doing great though. How about you? Have you found yourself a suitable partner that is willing to keep up with your ass?”
Yoongi chokes on his spit, trying his best for the food to stay in his mouth and that's when you know your job is done.
“Enjoy your meal, Yoongi.” you tell him sweetly, getting off his desk and walking away with a triumphal grin.
The rest of your day goes smoothly, even when you haven't had a proper lunch but your latest interaction with Yoongi just brightens up your whole day. The look on his face and the little frown he made sure you see just made your day. And you made sure to let him know that. Not even Benjamin giving you a weird look very subtly could make you ruin your day.
That's how you've felt until you get inside your apartment building, knowing you have to change your clothes and freshen up before the guys come here. Taehyung is still at work and you're pretty sure so is Jimin, so you have a little bit of time before their arrival. Just as you're putting your phone back inside your purse, you lift your gaze to greet the neighbor just for you to let out an audible gasp. One that gets the attention of the very last person you've expected to see.
In full glory, your ex-boyfriend stands a few doors away as he looks up, surely hearing you before his own eyes widen and mouth opens in surprise.
“Y/N,” he breathes out, surprised just as much as you are.
“You've got to be kidding me.” you mutter, not dropping your eyes off Haneul.
He hasn't changed, yet he seems different than the last time you saw him. He's sober this time for sure but that's not what you meant. At the sight of him, you're reminded of the moments you've spent together. Still shocked to see him, Haneul carefully walks closer.
“I–uh, my friend moved here. I was just visiting him, I didn't know you live here, I swear.”
The little panicked tone and expression on his face makes your features soften. The last encounter you had with him wasn't a pleasant one. You've had enough reasons to stay mad at him. And maybe a tiny part of you still is because of his own mistake. You wouldn't like to go back to it though. You've talked since then and you ended that chapter in your life. But still. Seeing him in front of you, looking panicked and careful like a lost puppy makes you feel bad for some reason.
He has gained weight. Not lots of it but he looks… bigger and buff, though his cheekbones and jaw are more prominent. He's wearing jeans, a simple white shirt with a patterned overshirt over it. He looks… good. Even his hair is darker and longer. That's what reminds you of the last time you've seen him.
“It's okay,” you assure him slowly, not quite sure what to say. “I'm just surprised to see you here.”
“So am I,” he says, his features turning alarmed once again as he quickly jumps to elaborate. “I mean I'm surprised to see you here too. I really didn't know you live here.”
“It's fine.” you chuckle a little. You know how weird it must be for him too. Since the last time he assured you he wasn't stalking you, and based on his body language and expression right now, you're aware that he is actually scared of you to think otherwise.
He's nervous. You're actually surprised that you can tell even after all these months.
“I never thought I would see you again,” he says softly. “I–do you have a minute?”
Frowning automatically, you look around and shift on your spot. He is not oblivious to your evident uncertainty and perhaps discomfort, his face saddening.
“It won't be long. I just want to tell you something. It's been haunting me ever since… ever since the last time I saw you. I understand if you don't want to but…” he trails off, scratching his temple.
Looking back and forth between your apartment's door, you hesitate for a moment. For one, you're still shocked to see him here. To see him standing just a few feet away from you, looking at you in a total hope as he pleads with his eyes.
Do you want him inside your place? It sounds too… intimate. Your place is private. To have him there out of all people… you're not sure how to feel about it. But one thing is sure, you definitely don't want to have this conversation in the hallway where anyone could hear you.
“Let's take it inside, this is not a proper place to have any conversation.” you decide to say, slow with your movements as you move to tap your code and open the door.
“Are you sure? I don't wanna overstep.”
Looking across your shoulder, you find him staring into the distance to avoid looking at your code to give you some privacy. That alone makes you feel safer because you know he wouldn't hurt you. Whatever happened back at the club… it was a mess but that shouldn't define all of him.
Still, you create a distance between you and him, still making sure he sees your hardened gaze as you invite him inside.
“We can just talk here,” he says as soon as he closes the front door. “We don't have to go further.” He proposes.
Taking off your shoes, you cross your arms over your chest before leaning against the wall. “Okay, then talk.”
For a moment, he seems to be lost at words. But once you cock your brow at him, he shakes himself out of it and fumbles over his words. You're patient though, waiting for him to say whatever he needs to.
“I don't remember much from our last… from the last time I saw you. I mean–I do remember bits of it but I was too wasted to remember or even know what I was doing. I never reached out to you, not that I didn't want to, but I thought it's better if I didn't,”
You give him a look, raising your brow again as if to tell him that he's damn right .
“Listen, I don't wanna take any more of your time or bother you. I owe you a big apology, I shouldn't have ever cornered you like that. I was drunk and out of my mind. I still wasn't over our break-up and when I saw you–I lost it, I drank too much and I had no control over myself and for that, I'm ashamed.”
Squeezing your forearms subtly, you just stare at him before you sigh. “I was drunk too. I almost let you kiss me. And I probably would've if…” Jungkook didn't get between you two.
Haneul knows that, nodding understandably.
“I never had a peace of mind after that. I was dumb and irresponsible. I still wasn't over the first love as they say.”
You stand up straight, arms still crossed. “I do hope you find your happiness.”
“Can I ask you something?” He tries, waiting for your nod. Once he gets it, he takes a breath and opens his mouth again. “How did you get over it?”
“Time,” you say as he nods, knowing that must be his answer as well. “And I had my friends too.”
Biting the inside of his cheek, he looks away as he nods. He knows who is included in your friend's circle and his very subtly annoyed reaction proves it. Jealousy is what got you into this mess in the first place. Who knows where you two would be if it weren't for the entire argument that took place during winter.
“Um, well thank you for giving me a chance to apologize in person. I really needed that and I appreciate it.”
You nod. You could tell him that you hope he truly moved on. That he deserves happiness too and he shouldn't beat himself over his past mistakes too much. Or that you hope he matured into the right person because deep down, you know he's not bad. He had hurt you and you never expected it from him, but looking at you now, you've moved on faster than he has. He is still here, has waited for his moment to apologize again and you appreciate that. But to create more distance and avoid unnecessary affection, you stay quiet. Something tells you it's better this way.
Perhaps you're being harsh. Or just reasonable and smart.
Who knows.
He opens his door and you follow him, ready to say the final goodbye which doesn't necessarily mean you won't ever say hi again if you see each other in person. Knowing now that one of his friends lives here, there might be times when you see each other again. But there's no longer any connection there. You won't stay friends like you could've. You think it could only mess with his head.
Once you look up, you wonder why Haneul hasn't stepped out yet only to find Jungkook standing on the opposite side of the door, a prominent frown and glare framing his face.
“What the fuck.”
Getting in between them, you pull Jungkook inside as he spares you a short glance before his eyes don't leave Haneul's figure. You get Jungkook behind you and as Haneul gets the clue, he steps out of your place.
“Thanks again.” he murmurs, trying not to glare too much at Jungkook who's still standing behind you.
Giving Haneul one final nod and silent goodbye, you watch his figure retrieve as you let out a big sigh.
“What was he doing here?” Jungkook asks, breathlessly almost getting worked up at seeing Haneul here.
It's not like you blame him. Haneul wasn't on his best behavior the last time he saw him. And before that too.
“His friend moved here and we bumped into each other.”
“Great.” he states sarcastically, taking off his sneakers as he gives you a stern look which makes you innocently shrug before closing the door.
“He wanted to apologize.”
“And you let him inside your apartment? Jesus, Y/N.” He rubs his forehead, causing you to shrug.
“He was drunk at that time, Kook. He wouldn't hurt me.”
“You don't know that.”
“I do know that!” you argue, watching his brow raise as you retrieve a little, nibbling on your lip.
Okay, maybe you don't know that. Haneul has proved himself to be… unexpected. But you don't think he would go far as to hurt you.
Jungkook sighs, closing his eyes as he leans his head back and stares at the ceiling for a second. He walks up to you, expression softening. “Y/N, baby,” He cups your cheek to make you look at him. You dryly gulp, having him this close to you after a long time. “We both know sometimes you can get upset and with a guy like him, you don't know how he's gonna react.”
You do know what he means. Sometimes you can't control your mouth. But that's the last thing on your mind, not with him so close and calling you– “Baby,” You crack a grin. “We're on a break, remember?”
Jungkook huffs out a laugh, dropping his hands as you try to ignore the mere disappointment by that simple action. “Sorry.”
“I liked it.” you silently confess.
He lifts up his gaze, mouth opening slightly before hard knocks behind you causes you to flinch. That breaks a moment as you see Taehyung's close up face on the display next to your door right after a ringbell can be heard, the system turning on the camera automatically. Jimin is behind him, nudging his head out of the camera. Snickering, you open the door as the lock unclicks and you're met with your friends face to face.
“What's up fuckers? What's the commotion about?” Taehyung cackles, tossing his sneakers off as Jimin sighs and shakes his head at evidently very active Taehyung.
“Ignore him. He had a few drinks after work with his co-workers.”
“I was celebrating!”
“You celebrate a lot then.” Jimin mutters, ignoring Taehyung's glare before his sharp eyes stop on you two.
“Commotion? What were you talking about?”
“We heard your voices when we got out of the elevator.” Taehyung answers you.
“Were you listening behind the door, Kim Taehyung?” you exclaim, shooting him a disapproving look as he gasps and shakes his head, clearly offended by the suggestion. As if that couldn't happen when it comes to him.
“We really weren't. We just heard voices because surprisingly, this fucker here was quiet the whole time on the elevator and even after we got out of it. We couldn't hear much. Taehyung is just as dramatic as always.”
“I was just joking, jesus. And who you're calling fucker?”
You roll your eyes. “You just called us fuckers.” you point out, everyone going further down your apartment as you turn on the lights since you haven't had the chance to go fully inside.
Taehyung just innocently shrugs. “But what's with the faces?”
“Y/N had her ex-boyfriend over.” Jungkook shrugs, your head snapping toward his direction as everyone in the room gasps.
Jimin and Taehyung stare at you as if you were caught in a lie, their mouths open as their asses drop down onto your couch at the same time. The scenario is funny and you would surely laugh at them if it weren't for their disapproving and scandalized looks.
“Ex-boyfriend as the slut shaming asshole?” Taehyung asks, narrowing his eyes at you as you sigh.
“It wasn't exactly that, thanks a lot Jungkook,” you point at him, just as he shrugs in return before making himself comfortable in your chair. “His friend lives here, on the same floor I assume. We bumped into each other and he wanted to talk.”
“And you invited him here?” Jimin asks, frowning as you sigh just as Jungkook butts in.
“That's what I said!”
“I–” You stop for a second, rubbing your nose before sitting down on the arm rest, close to Taehyung. “I didn't wanna talk about it in the hallway. You guys didn't see him–” They start rolling their eyes and muttering a bunch of disapprovals before you quickly add. “He seriously just wanted to apologize for the last time. I gave him that choice and I'm unharmed. I'm okay. See?”
“You better be.” Taehyung warns. Jimin nods, agreeing.
“You guys act like he physically harmed me. He's not that violent.” you inform them.
As much as you appreciate their protective nature, you know Haneul is not the type to harm you physically. They all make it seem like that and you do think maybe they're a bit overprotective in this manner.
“And I'm perfectly fine to tell him to fuck off.”
“Sometimes that's not enough. Sometimes that can cause more harm than you think.” Taehyung reminds you.
“Yeah, sorry Y/N but Tae's right.” Jimin agrees.
“You never know how any guy can react when they're mad.”
“You guys are being dramatic now.”
“Maybe, but better be safe than sorry.” Jungkook mutters. His elbow is resting against the armrest, fingers nibbling on his bottom lip as he gives you a stern look.
“Kook's right,” Taehyung agrees. “Wait–Jungkook, you saw him? Was there a fight I missed?”
You snicker, “There was no fight, Tae because there wasn't a need for one.”
He disappointedly leans back with a pout.
“He left peacefully. Said what he wanted to say and he's gone.”
“I hope you're not planning to see him again.” Jimin wonders, giving you a suspicious look as you stutter over your words, shocked at his suspicion while Taehyung snaps his head toward you, already ready to react.
“Why would she? God, don't be stupid to get back to him, Y/N.”
“Oh my god!” You shake your head, stopping him right away. “First of all, no one is getting back with anyone. I'm not interested in him like that, not that it's any of your business.” You tell them sternly, looking at every one of them, met with frowning Jungkook and then a second after, with the same looking Jimin and Taehyung.
“We're just worried about you, that's all. But Jimin-ah, she has Jungkook now, right?” Taehyung teases.
“I appreciate the concern, but I'm not that dumb. And please stop bringing up me and Kook. We're not… doing that anymore.”
“What?!”
“You're not?”
Their reaction comes at the same time, bouncing against the wall of your small living room as the duo glance at Jungkook who nods in confirmation.
You weren't exactly planning on telling them, in fact you and Jungkook never talked about telling anyone but that's simply because there was no need to. As always, that's between you and Jungkook. But now it seems like a good thing to inform them since Taehyung practically assumes you and Jungkook are hooking up. And despite his obvious shock and almost disappointment, his mouth frowns as Jimin suspiciously eyes you and Jungkook.
You don't tell them that you took a break. It's almost embarrassing to admit that you want to continue hooking up with Jungkook. Firstly, you want to focus on hanging out with him only. It seems fresh and nice, despite all the difficulties you have to go through every day.
“So you're no longer hooking up?”
“Who's dumb idea that was?” Taehyung exclaims as Jimin clicks his tongue at him.
“So you're just… friends? Everything went back to normal?” he asks, staring at you before focusing his eyes on Jungkook this time as he nods.
“Do we have to talk about this?” Jungkook asks. “It's not like you discuss your sex life with me.”
“Well–”
“Not you, Tae.” Jungkook cuts him off, causing you to snicker. “But yes, she's telling the truth. Can we move on? I seriously don't wanna talk about my sex life.”
“The lack of right now.” Taehyung snickers, causing Jungkook to throw a pillow at him.
Everyone knows that if Jungkook wanted to get his dick wet, he could do it anytime. The difference is that he's not that type of person and it's something he and Taehyung don't share. Minus Jimin since he's in a relationship now which still blows your mind to be honest.
“I'm glad you guys got some sense after all.” Jimin says, leaning back as he makes himself more comfortable.
You and Jungkook share a look, your breath close to hitching once you spot those dark brown eyes from the distance, as you give Jimin a smile. One that you hope doesn't look nervous just as much as you seem.
“What about Greece?” Taehyung asks, filling up the thoughtful silence.
Luckily, for your and Jungkook's sake, the topic of your sex-life is no longer discussed – even though you know Taehyung is itching to know more details. Each of you has their phone in their hands, searching for the right destination for your first proper friend vacation.
There have been a few suggestions, though you have to stay realistic. And all of you got bills to pay.
“Won't that be more expensive?” Jimin questions, not quite sold on the latest suggestion.
“Not necessarily. We can always check.” he responds, shrugging.
“And what about Hawaii? Many Koreans visit it, it's familiar and kinda verified if that makes sense.” Jimin says.
“Hawaii sounds nice.” Jungkook hums.
“Oh–Hawaii! Let's go to Hawaii!” Taehyung says excitedly, straightening himself off the sofa as you laugh at his sudden excitement. “I saw this TikTok about Hawaii destinations. It was beautiful.”
“Are you sure it's the destination you saw in that video?” Jungkook teases, both of you cackling as Taehyung flips him off.
“Ah, my aunt went there last year. She can't stop talking about it.” Jimin ignores the three of you, sticking up to the topic while Jungkook and Taehyung stick their tongues out at each other. Kids.
“Honestly, I don't care much where we're gonna go. As long as it's a nice place.” you shrug. “Hawaii sounds nice. Let's check it more, so we can finally decide.”
Everyone agrees with you. When the four of you start searching for more details that entail what island you would pick, accommodation, flight tickets and overall the prices. The tiredness slowly overcomes you, your friends talk too much to the point you zone out. Their voices drift off as your head falls down on Jungkook's shoulder.
You hear them teasing you for falling asleep, but it gets ignored as you simply shrug and continue in your slumber. It's until Jungkook shakes you out of your sleepiness, his soft features are blurry until you blink a few times. In the distance you can see Jimin and Taehyung cleaning after themselves, the two of them in their own conversation. He gives you a gentle smile.
“We're going to Hawaii.”
Over the course of a couple of days, everything is booked and set up. It feels nearly unreal. You've never experienced a vacation that involved a proper beach and island. It doesn't properly kick in, not even when you inform Junho about the vacation leave you want to take in mid July. Not very pleased by that, he knew you do have a right to take one, so he had to accept it. When everyone got a free pass, the group chat was filled with exciting gifs and memes.
All that is left is to wait.
Taehyung: I fucking need this vacation y'all
Jimin: work?
He expects his job to be the cause of Taehyung's sudden message to the group chat.
Taehyung: no lol
Taehyung: just thinking about all chicks I'm gonna get
Jimin: dude…
Taehyung: what? you used to be way more fun -_-
Taehyung: you act like a priest now

“They're responsible”
Taehyung: like you're one to talk about responsibility
You gasp, snickering.
“Fuck you”
Taehyung: come here then bby :P
Jimin sends a laughing gif, probably rolling from Taehyung's ridiculous messages.
Jimin: we've matured Tae, time to find a girlfriend
Taehyung: I'd rather cut my dick off
“Can I do it? 🥺”
Jungkook sends laughing emojis.
Taehyung: I knew you were kinky little shit
“Seems like you're the kinky little shit”
Taehyung: I never hid it ;)
“again… EW! -_-”
Jimin: petition to cut tae's dick
“Maybe then he'll finally think with his head rather than his dick”

Kook: get a grip
“But I love talking about Tae's dick :(((“

“I'm seriously gonna slap the shit out of you Taehyung”
“But I can't I'm working”
Taehyung: I can visit you ;) just try me
Jimin: yeah don't do it girl
“I'm seriously gonna kick your ass”

“Tell him to leave me alone too :<”
Kook: yeah leave her alone too

“Just come here, I'm gonna show you what's teasing”
Taehyung: cumming!!

Kook: 🙄
“🤮”
Jimin: lmaooooo they disgusted
Jimin: me too me too
Taehyung: now that my job's done, enjoy your day you fuckers 😘
There are no messages for a while. You're guessing all of you are busy. It's the middle of the day after all.
“Is he drunk?”
Jimin: no… just taehyung
Somehow, that sums it all up.
After work, you're in the middle of sorting out your laundry when you videochat with the guys. Much to your surprise, you ended up clocking off early which doesn't happen very often – if ever. Junho has seemed to be in a good mood today, which resulted in letting some of you leave early. Yoongi included who couldn't seem to be happiest as he rushed out of the door as first.
“Where's Jimin?” Taehyung asks, holding his phone down as he unlocks the door of his apartment. The angle would not be very flattering for most people, but it's unfair it's not unflattering when it comes to him at all.
“I think he's on a date.” Jungkook answers, one hand on a wheel as his phone is perfectly angled at him.
You laugh at Taehyung's face. “You know, you could try to go on a date too. I've got a few coworkers who would surely be interested.” you tease him, laughing even more when you see his features scowl in a mere disgust and disinterest.
Jungkook cackles, eyes focused on the road.
“If they're interested in having the time of their lives, my phone's on.” Taehyung jokes.
“You're so confident about that.” Jungkook laughs.
“You know Kook, you should've known that–”
“Alright, alright. Spare me the details. I'm driving.” Jungkook cuts him off quickly, making a grimace that makes you giggle.
“Besides, I'm heading to the club tonight.”
“Alone?” you ask, brows raised in surprise.
It's not like Taehyung is not the type to go somewhere alone, especially to a club. But it used to be something at least one of you went to do together.
“No, I'm meeting Mark in an hour.”
“Wait–Mark as in the Mark I worked with?” you ask, closing the washing machine's door with a thud as you stare wide-eyed at the screen.
“Yeah.”
“How do you know him?” you ask, “I mean—how did this happen?”
You haven't heard of Mark for months. It's true you've seen him a few times after you quit the job there while visiting, but he hasn't been on your mind since then. It's not that weird because Taehyung knows him, you introduced them and Taehyung is very social, but you would've never guessed they actually hung out.
“You know.. My friends started to focus on monogamy, so–”
“Shut up.” You laugh as Taehyung grins before giving you a proper explanation.
“I don't really know, I was in this other club one night and he was working there. I remember him from the time you worked together. Anyway, got drunk and we talked. We bumped into each other a few times since then and we kinda started hanging out.”
“Well, say hi to him from me.”
“Will do.”
A message pops on the top of your screen. You read the name, seeing it's Jungkook texting you. Taehyung starts to ramble, while Jungkook waits at the red light that illuminates his face as he cocks his head toward his phone, motioning for you to text him back.
Kook: movie night tonight? have a free evening
A sudden rush of happiness evokes in your chest and you're too quick to type back.
“Yes!! Got a few movies recs we can watch”
“What are the two of you smiling about?” Taehyung asks, narrowing his eyes in suspicion.
“Nothing, nothing.” you sing out, seeing Jungkook chuckle as he starts driving again.
“You can join me.” Taehyung suggests.
“I don't feel like clubbing tonight.”
“Yeah, me neither. ” Jungkook hums.
“Boring, I'm telling y'all. You are getting boring as fuck.”
“We're getting older, Tae.” you laugh.
“You? You're the youngest out of all of us! ” he exclaims.
“I'm an old soul, Tae. What can I say?”
“Old soul my ass.” he grumbles.
The three of you laugh and joke around until the call ends shortly after. A few minutes later, there's a knock at your door signalizing you of someone's arrival. Opening the door with a huge grin, your features falter a little when you see him. Jeon Jungkook stands in front of your door, hair wet as he informs you of the short summer rain he caught on his way here and that you've completely missed. Tattooed hand goes into his hair, swiping them off his forehead as a few droplets drop down his thin black leather jacket.
He looks straight out of a movie. A total heartthrob.
He arches his brow at you, chuckling. “You're gonna let me in or not?”
Fuck.

Prologue
"Insecurity kills all that is beautiful". - Anonymous
It was the early morning, the streets were still empty as the sun gently entered the buildings waking everyone up from their deep sleep. L/N Y/N slowly opened her eyes when she heard a cabinet close from the bathroom. She let out a small groan and turned towards the clock on her nightstand, 07:35 am. She ran her hand through her messy hair as she let a deep sigh out. Today was supposed to be her day off, and so was Taehyung’s but it seems like things have changed.
She glanced at the door with a frown, the talk from last night was still clouding up her mind. There was something wrong but she can’t change anything if he doesn’t tell her anything. She quickly shook her head and picked up her phone to message her best friend, Kim Sejeong.
How is he?
She looked up from the text and stared at the wall with a hard look. It was a simple question that had a complex answer. An answer that she doesn’t have, which made things harder.
I don’t know...he hasn’t really talked to me since our conversation.
Give him some time.
Kim Taehyung stared at the mirror with a hard look. He didn’t get much sleep last night, who would? Seeing the person you love cry because of your own foolishness could keep anyone up. That’s what made things so hard, especially right now. He glanced down at the sink as he closed his eyes and the scene replayed right before him.
Being center stage was normal for Taehyung. All eyes were on him as he expressed his feelings but this was different. The center stage that he became so familiar with was on fire and the only one that felt it was him. He stared at Y/N as she wiped tears away from her eyes, "Tae, why are you ignoring me?"
There was an answer but it couldn't leave his lips. He couldn't disappoint her....he couldn't see her eyes look at him with sadness or even pity. That would make him sick. All this was caused by his brain and nothing more.
He placed his hand on top of her knee and produced the best fake smile that he could muster, "I'm sorry love. I've been so tired."
Y/N glanced at his hand and then at his face, "Is that the truth?"
No..."Yes, let's go have dinner. I'm sorry I made you cry."
"Tae, just talk to me, please. I don't want to be left in the dark."
What kind of man am I? "You won't be in the dark."
I'll solve this for us, Y/N. Don't worry about my own foolishness. I'll become better for us.
He quickly snapped out of his thoughts when there was a knock at the door, “Baby, you’ve been in there for a long time...is everything okay?”
His fingers gripped the countertop and let out a small cough, “I’m okay...I’ll be out in a few minutes.”
“I’ll start breakfast...”
He listened to her footsteps until the silence was choking him. He roughly ran his fingers through his hair as he was frustrated with himself. A foolish man with a brain that tortures him and it was all his fault. Nothing more and nothing less.
ACT I [ Three Months ago]
"I love you as certain dark things are to be loved, in secret, between the shadow and the soul." - Pablo Neruda, from his poem "Sonnet XVII" in "100 Love Sonnets"
Y/N put her coffee back down as the glare from the Hybe building blinds her. She was sitting at a cafe across the street and on this busy morning in Korea, she was hidden away by a black piece of fabric. It was another typical morning for Y/N, to get a cup of coffee and wait for her boyfriend. Nothing more and nothing less. Well...her boyfriend was someone that everyone knew and the same goes for herself. No one in the public knew that the famous actress; L/N Y/N, was in a relationship with Kim Taehyung of Bts for four years. A secret love that was in the hands of those who were close to them and that's how it's going to be until the time is right to come out.
She whipped her head towards the door and a smile appeared under her mask when she saw her boyfriend coming in with his black coat hiding who he was. Of course, she knew it was him, she bought him that coat on their second anniversary. She had the matching one but she kept it in a special place with her other special gifts from him.
She stood up in excitement and quickly made her way towards him. He glanced towards the sudden footsteps and smiled under his mask. She wrapped her arm around his, causing him to snicker at her clinginess, “You look extra mysterious today, love.”
Taehyung let out a small laugh and glanced at his jacket, “You said you wanted me to dress up like Sherlock. I hope I did him justice.”
She gently picked up the material and smiled, “My favorite detective.”
He entwined their fingers together and walked back towards her table, “Speaking of detective...”
She rolled her eyes at this and looked away from his small smirk, “It’s just another acting gig...”
He rubbed her knuckles and kissed the top of her head, “It’s not just another gig. It’s a Netflix show, that’s incredible. I’m proud of you.”
“I’m just nervous because I’m working with people who have had more experience than me.”
They sat back at the table and he placed his hand on top of hers on the table, “I think it's exciting. Tell me about it.”
“It’s called Human Touch...I play the female lead who falls in love with the arrogant detective.”
He continued to rub her knuckles and nodded his head, “That sounds like all the books you read.”
She felt her face get hot under the mask and she pouted under the mask, “Don’t tease me. Are we still having lunch?”
“Yeah, but the restaurant we want to go to is closed today. Want to go to Jin’s?”
“Ohh, that’s free food. Let’s go!~”
Y/N and Taehyung are the friends-to-lovers story that everyone loves to read. She was Hoseok’s best friend from high school and after not seeing each other in years, Hoseok begged her to come to a concert near where she lived at the time. She just finished her second drama and her name was trending online but that didn’t mean anything to her. She was still a rookie with a famous friend. She didn’t want to be seen as a social climber. Hoseok didn’t really care about that and she finally accepted after he got his sister to ask her to come.
She entered the dressing room and looked around with wide and curious eyes. The room wasn’t what she was expecting. Honestly, she had no idea what to expect. The room was so large that it should be considered to be a living room. There were couches that were calling out her name but she knew how expensive they were. She didn’t want to get them dirty.
She glanced down at her backstage pass and took a deep breath. BTS was on a whole new level of fame. She worked with famous actors/actresses but this is so different. They were known around the world and were loved by almost everyone. It made this meeting even more nerve-wracking for her.
“Are you Hoseok-hyung’s friend?”
She turned her head and she was met with brown eyes that were really close to her own. She jumped back and tilted her head at him, “Y-Yes. Who’s asking?”
“I’m Taehyung. I just wanted to meet the person that Hoseok spent a week talking about.”
She swallowed her spit and wiped her hand on her jeans, “I hope it was good things...he knows too much about me.”
Taehyung let out a small laugh and nodded his head, “It was all good things which is why I wanted to meet you.”
“I’m nothing special.”
He shook his head and gently tapped the middle of her forehead causing her to blink in confusion, “You are special. Don’t forget that.”
She felt her face warm and a small smile formed, “The only special one here is you, Kim Taehyung.”
“I see you as someone special, L/N Y/N.”
Asking her out was the hardest thing that Taehyung encountered. He had never met someone that made him so nervous before. She was different but at the same time, she was something so familiar. They both liked to recreate their first date once in a while when they weren’t too busy with work. It was special for them.
Y/N was finishing up cleaning the kitchen when she heard a knock on the door. She raised her eyebrow in confusion, she wasn’t expecting anyone tonight. She walked towards the door and looked through the small hole.
“What the?”
She opened the door and tilted her head, “Jungkook?”
“I have a surprise for you.”
She glanced at the clock and then back at him, “It’s literally ten at night.”
“Trust me.”
She rolled her eyes and nodded her head, “Fine, you're lucky I like you.”
What she thought was going to be a quick surprise turned into an hour's drive. She fell asleep in the car as Jungkook held in his laugh when he saw the drool going down her face. He gently shook her and she let out a small groan, “We’re here.”
She rubbed her eyes and looked around with a confused look, “Are we near the mountains?”
“Yeah.”
“Oh my god, are you killing me?”
Jungkook gave her a confused look and shook his head, “What? No, why would you think that?”
“It’s night time and we’re by the mountains where no one can hear me scream.”
“Fair…Taehyung is waiting for you by the entrance.”
She raised her eyebrow at this and glanced through the glass, “He’s waiting for me?”
“Yeah, hurry up.”
She walked towards the entrance and raised her eyebrow when she saw Taehyung leaning against the entrance sign, “Tae?”
He immediately stood up straight and gave her a boxy smile, “Y-Your here?”
“Yes?”
“He was supposed to text me…never mind that.” He leaned down and took something behind the sign. Her eyes widened at the bright roses and her mouth dropped, “Tae?”
“You said you always wanted red roses and to watch the stars.”
she glanced at the roses and then at him, “I did…you remember that?”
“I always remember what you say.”
She took the roses and smiled at them, “What does this mean?”
“I want you to be my shooting star. Will you be my star?”
It was the start of something but Y/N never thought Taehyung would see her as more. Now after four years, she’s become more confident with herself and her career. It took a long time but here she was standing strong with a smile on her face and the love of her life supporting her.
Taehyung opened the door for her and the smell of food hit her with full force. She turned towards Taehyung pulling her mask down, “I’m so excited for this. You have no idea.”
He chuckled at this and gently tapped the middle of her forehead, “It’s because you didn’t eat all day.”
She pouted at this and pulled her mask up, “Leave me alone. Let’s go eat.”
“Drinking coffee isn’t food, Y/N.”
“Then feeeeddd mee.”
₊✩‧₊˚౨ৎ˚₊✩‧₊
Taehyung was in his studio typing away when the door opened. He leaned back in his chair and raised his eyebrow when he saw Jungkook panting heavily, “What happened to you?”
“Jaehyun told me something interesting.”
“How does that involve me?”
Jungkook rolled his eyes and pulled out his phone from his pocket. Taehyung continued to watch him with confused eyes, It’s eight in the morning? What could happen this early? He was met with a bright screen and he squinted his eyes at the screen to read whatever it was; NCT Jaehyun stars in a new drama with L/N Y/N. Human Touch is the highly anticipated show after the Webtoon finished in January causing fans to demand a drama. The director said it will come out somewhere between November or December making it the perfect drama for fall or winter.
Taehyung smiled at this and looked up at Jungkook, “That’s exciting.”
“I know, Jae said it took a while for SM to accept it but he was glad he got it.”
“Did he read the comic?”
Jungkook shrugged his shoulders and put his phone back in his pocket, “He said he always wanted to work with Y/N. He really admires her.”
He raised his eyebrow at this but quickly shook the uneasiness, “I’m excited for Y/N. She didn’t think she would get the part.”
“I can’t wait to watch Noona on the screen.”
“CUT! You did a good job L/N!”
Y/N smiled at this and bowed at the director. It was another day that she had to film a commercial for a lip product that turned into a photoshoot and shoot. Two for one deal. Her manager walked towards her with a smile, “I have big news.”
Y/N took a sip of her water and raised her eyebrow, “Oh?”
“Jaehyun is officially part of the cast.”
Y/N’s eyes widened at this and she placed her water on the table, “Really? That’s great. I feel like he would play the role so well.”
“With your help, SM finally accepted it.”
“That’s really exciting.” She felt her phone vibrant in her pocket and she took it out. She smiled when she saw it was Taehyung texting her, I saw the article. I’m so proud of you, love.
“There’s going to be a quick meeting regarding the drama at four this evening.”
Y/N put her phone back in her pocket and nodded at her manager, “Okay, is it with the full case? That’s really fast.”
“The director wants to meet with the two leads, that’s it.”
Y/N nodded her head and glanced at the director for her photoshoot, “I don’t have a problem. I think we're done taking the pictures.”
“I’ll go speak to the director. You wait here.”
She watched her manager go towards the director when she felt another buzz in her pocket. She took her phone out and let out a small laugh when she read the text, Why haven’t you messaged me back? :(
I’m sorry, I was talking to my manager. I’m going to meet Jaehyun today with the director. I’m really excited to meet with him, I begged for the director to get him on this project after watching his audition tape.
Oh? You asked for him?
It was between Jaehyun and Kyung-soo.
Those are good choices...Are we still up for tonight?
Of course, we are!
Taehyung placed his phone on his desk as he stared at his computer screen. She asked for him specifically? Why do I feel weird about this? He shook his head and sat up straight in his computer chair, “It’s probably nothing.”
₊✩‧₊˚౨ৎ˚₊✩‧₊
She opened the door to see Taehyung on the couch sitting with Yeontan. She raised her eyebrow at this and pouted, “Tae.”
He turned his head and smiled at her from the couch, “Hey baby.”
This was weird. He usually waited by the door for her but she shrugged her shoulders and set her stuff in their right places, “You didn’t pick up when I called.”
“Sorry, I just got out of a meeting. I didn’t look at my phone.”
That was weird, part two. He always checked his phone but she let it slide because she knew he was busy with his music. She nodded her head and walked towards him with her slippers echoing through the apartment. She sat next to him and leaned her head against his arm, “The meeting went well. Jaehyun is perfect for this role.”
Taehyung nodded his head and kissed the top of her head, “I’m happy for you. What do you want for dinner?”
“Oh, Jaehyun bought me some food after the meeting. I’m okay.”
Taehyung nodded his head but he had a sharp look that Y/N didn’t notice, “What did he get you?”
“He got me japchae and yook hwei.”
How did he know that was her favorite? “Oh, that’s your favorite. That’s good he got that for you.”
“It was really sweet of him to do that. He wanted to show he was grateful for me.”
Taehyung swallowed the lump in his throat and nodded his head, “For?”
“Basically telling SM to give him this role. It wasn’t easy but we won at the end of the day. I’m just glad the show is going to be so good with him on the team.”
Why is she so excited for him? “I’m glad...”
Act II [ Green Eyed]
‘There is no greater glory than love, nor any greater punishment than jealousy.’ - Lope De Vega
“Baek-hyeon, I-I-”
He rolled his eyes and turned towards Aera with an annoyed look, “You don’t believe in me? Why?”
Aera shook her head at this, “I do believe in you-”
“Then act like it.”
Aera took a step back and looked away from him. She couldn’t see the anger in his eyes, “I’m just scared for you. It’s dangerous for you.”
“I’m a detective. This is what I do.”
“CUT!”
Y/N turned towards the director and pouted, “What’s wrong?”
“The lighting made a glare in the lens. We need to re-do the scene.”
Y/N nodded her head and turned towards Jaehyun with a smile, “You did really well. I think you need to be more assertive when you say I’m a detective. It would sound better.”
“You think so? I don’t want them to hate him.”
“His personality is arrogant and he’s somewhat cold. It’s going to show good character development later on.”
Jaehyun nodded his head at her and put his fingers under his chin, “Ah, I see. I’ll make notes. Thanks.”
She watched him go to his chair as she went towards her dressing room. Even though this morning was productive, it wasn’t a good one. Taehyung left without saying goodbye to her but he texted her saying he had a surprise morning meeting. He always said goodbye to her, no matter what.
She sat in her dressing room and clicked on the person she wanted to FaceTime with, “Hey you.”
Kim Sejeong repositioned her camera and waved at her, “Hey, how’s filming?”
Y/N leaned back in her chair and smiled, “It was good. We got half of the first episode done.”
Sejeong raised her eyebrow at her tone, “What’s wrong?”
Y/N sighed and shook her head, “I think I’m overthinking.”
“You tend to do that. What’s wrong?”
“Taehyung, he didn’t say goodbye to me this morning. He always kisses the top of my head but he didn’t do it this time.”
“Did he text you?”
Y/N pouted and nodded her head, “He did…you think I’m overthinking?”
“It depends. What did the text say?”
“Sorry, I didn’t kiss you. I had a surprise meeting.”
Sejeong raised her eyebrow at this, “Is that all he said?”
“Yeah, he didn’t send his usual heart emoji to me.”
“Maybe he’s busy. It was a surprise meeting.”
Y/N nodded her head, “Maybe. The past two weeks have been crazy. I’ve been filming non-stop and it feels like I barely see him.”
“Try and squeeze him in there. Tell him you love him more.”
There was a knock on the door and she glanced at the dark wood, “Y/N, the director is ready.”
She glanced back at her phone and waved at Sejeong, “I gotta go. I’ll talk to you later.”
“Talk to you later. Fighting!”
Taehyung sat in the practice room with a blank expression. Y/N has been so busy with filming that she’s barely had time with her. He understood but she was spending so much time with Jaehyun that he was becoming a second thought. He knows how it is, filming and all that. Logically he understands but emotionally he doesn’t. That was the frustrating part. He knew it was stupid to feel like this but he couldn’t help it.
The door opened and Jimin raised his eyebrow to see Taehyung sitting on the ground. He set his stuff on the floor and made his way to him. Taehyung was in such deep thought that he didn’t even notice Jimin sitting next to him.
“You good?”
Taehyung jumped and turned to see Jimin’s concerned eyes, “You scared me.”
“I didn’t mean to. You look like you got stuff on your mind.”
“I do.”
“You want to talk about it?”
Taehyung sat there for a minute and thought about it. If he told Jimin then he would suggest talking to Y/N and he really didn’t want to do that. He didn’t want Y/N to know how he was feeling because it was wrong for him to feel like that. She has never felt jealous with all the dating rumors he got with other girls. He couldn’t tell her that he was jealous because of this. It didn’t make sense to feel that way.
“No, it’s just something stupid.”
“You sure?”
“I’m sure. Don’t worry.”
₊✩‧₊˚౨ৎ˚₊✩‧₊
Y/N and Taehyung were on a date and Y/N planned the whole day. After talking with Sejeong, she decided that on her next day off she was going to spend the whole day with Taehyung. She was going to do everything they like to do together today. It’s been about a month since they really had a date, a real date. They had quick lunches but she didn’t consider those to be dates,
She’s also noticed that Taehyung has been acting differently. At first, she thought she was overthinking but now she knew it wasn’t her mind playing games. There was something wrong with him. She kinda figured that it was because she wasn’t really talking to him or spending time with him. It was her fault that there was miscommunication and she wanted to say sorry for it.
They walked in the private park near their apartment and she planned to have a simple picnic. It was a nice day, the sun was out after a long week of rain. It was finally sunny, it was a sign from the universe to fix their problem.
They sat near the small pound and she took out all of the sandwiches that she made for the day. She sent the last drink and looked at him with a smile, “I made all your favorites. They ran out of your tea so I got the lemonade you like. Is that okay?”
Taehyung picked up a sandwich and nodded his head, “It’s fine.”
She smiled at this and looked across the pond, “It’s a nice day. I’m glad I get to spend the day with you.”
“I am too.”
She looked back at him and she frowned a little, “I’m sorry that I haven’t really been talking to you that much. I feel bad...I noticed that you haven’t really talked to me. I’m sorry that I only noticed until a couple of days ago.”
Taehyung stopped eating and stared at the pink blanket. I made her feel like this? It’s so stupid that I feel like this. It’s not worth making her sad. He put down the sandwich and looked at her with a small smile, “It’s my fault too. I have a phone, I know how to use it. Don’t apologize.”
She placed her hand on top of his and shook her head, “You always text me first. I should’ve texted you first. I wanted this date to be perfect.”
Taehyung gave her a small smile and leaned forward placing a quick kiss on her lips, “It is perfect.”
Right before she could say something, her phone buzzed. She picked her phone up and unlocked it to see Jaehyun texted her, I was wondering if tonight we can practice our lines together. I’m having a hard time with this upcoming scene
Of course, we can. Is it the ice skating scene?
Yeah, I don’t know how to express his feelings and I can’t land my lines
Don’t worry I’ll help you. Is seven good?
That’s perfect, thanks
No problem
Y/N put her phone back and she smiled at him, “I’m just glad I can spend time with you. I missed you.”
“Who was that?”
She raised her eyebrow and glanced at her phone then back at him, “It was just Jaehyun. He needed help with a scene.”
Taehyung felt his chest tighten. That was the second time that Jaehyun asked for help. He knew acting was hard but to ask for help constantly from her, that’s weird. Well to him. Logically it makes sense to ask for help but he didn’t want it to be her. He took a bit from his sandwich and nodded his head, “How’s it going with filming?”
Y/N took a sip of her lemonade and smiled, “It’s been so good. All the scenes look really good and I’m so excited for you to see the final product. I worked really hard.”
“I know you’ve been working hard. I’m proud of you.”
“Thank you, baby.
He tried his best to smile but it was really hard especially when his chest hurts, “How’s Jaehyun?”
“He’s been working really hard. This is his first real acting gig and he’s improving with each shoot. I knew he was the perfect choice.”
Perfect choice....”I’m glad..”
“Tae, are you okay?
“I am. Why?”
She tilted her head and frowned at him, “There’s something on your mind...I can tell. You can tell me anything.”
This has nothing to do with you...It’s my own dumb thoughts. He leaned towards her and placed a kiss on her forehead, “I’m just stressed about work. That’s all.”
“I’ll yell at Namjoon for making you work so much. You need a break.”
My brain needs a break from everything. “You need a break too, baby.”
“Let’s watch our anime today and just watch the clouds. That would be perfect.”
“It will be, love.”
They laid back and watched the romance anime that they started together. It was a cute anime, a simple school anime but nevertheless, they loved it. Taehyung glanced at Y/N who was snuggling up into his side. She was so beautiful, especially in moments like this. He turned his attention back to the screen and his smile disappeared. He watched the female lead kiss another guy for a play they were holding. He watched the male lead leave the stage and he couldn’t help but feel seen at that moment. It was silly to find an anime to resonate with you.
₊✩‧₊˚౨ৎ˚₊✩‧₊
She sighed at the phone and tossed it onto her table. It’s been two months and Taehyung is acting worse now. He barely texted her and when they were in the same room he barely talked to her. She knew she was lacking on her half of the chorus and she knew that all her reasons were sounding like excuses now. She didn’t want Taehyung to feel like she was taking advantage of him. That was the last thing she wanted him to feel.
She walked out of her dressing room and entered the meeting room. She bowed to everyone and sat next to Jaehyun with a smile on her face, “Do you know what this meeting is for?”
Jaehyun shrugged his shoulders and took a sip of his water, “I heard it’s about a scene.”
“Scene?”
The director let out a small cough and smiled at everyone, “The next scene is going to be a tough one. Jaehyun, you will have a stunt double jumping off a building while it’s raining. The scene itself is Baek-hyeon and Aera’s first kiss. Aera will kiss Baek-hyeon out of panic for his safety but Baek-hyeon will not acknowledge it because he knows it was out of panic. This scene is going to show Aera finally accepting her feelings towards Baek-hyeon. Today let’s take a break and come back tomorrow for this scene.”
Y/N smiled at this and looked at Jaehyun, “Your first stunt double. That’s exciting.”
“It is. I like the story so far.”
“I do too. You want to get lunch?”
“Lunch sounds good.”
They stood up and bowed to everyone as they made their way out of the office. Jaehyun opened the door for her and they headed towards a restaurant right across their building. They talked about random things, Jaehyun told her about his solo album that he was working on but he had no idea when it was going to come out. She told him that after this drama, she is going to take a small break and focus on her personal life.
They sat together and clinked their beer bottles together, “Baek-hyeon!”
“Aera!~”
She let out a small laugh and took her phone out to send a text to Taehyung, I’m eating with Jaehyun! I’ll be home in an hour. I love you.
Be safe. Love u.
Taehyung stood in his bedroom and frowned at himself. This was the second dinner that Y/N missed. He knew it was his fault for not voicing his feelings but what was he supposed to say to her? “Stop hanging out with Jaehyun because I feel insecure.” That sounded ridiculous because he had no right to be insecure with their relationship. He had everything he could ask for. An apartment, a dog he loves, a girlfriend that he wants to marry someday, and a job that will help his family for the rest of his life. What more can he ask for?
He got up and decided to take a quick walk around the neighborhood. The fresh air can help him clear his mind. He put the leash on Yeontan and locked up his house. The walk was nice. There was a light wind that put him at ease and the smell of the flowers made him think of Y/N. It was truly relaxing.
Y/N let out a laugh and leaned back in her chair, “I would love to meet Mark. I think I would get along with him.”
“I think so too.”
She took the final sip of her beer and smiled, “I think I’m done for the night.”
“Let me get you a ride.”
Y/N shook her head and took her phone out, “I’ll do it. Don’t worry.”
“No, let me. I want to make sure you get home safe.”
“Fine, I’ll pay for your food next time.”
Jaehyun smiled at this and took his jacket off of his chair, “Perfect.”
Jaehyun waited for the car and opened the door for her and waved at her, “Have a good night. I’ll see you in the morning.”
“Thank you, Jae. Get home safely.”
“I will.”
Y/N leaned her head against the glass and let out a deep sigh. She was feeling better after going out and having fun. She didn’t think about her stress at home and was finally able to clear her mind. Maybe now she could tell Taehyung how much she missed him. She rushed her way into the building and she was so excited to see him that she didn’t notice her hair tie falling out of her hair. She opened the door and she smiled when she saw Taehyung in the living room holding Yeontan in his arms.
She rushed towards him and wrapped her arms around his waist causing him to jump at the sudden action. He set Yeontan down and turned around to see Y/N already looking at him, “Y/N?”
“I missed you.”
He smiled to himself and kissed the top of her head, “I missed you more.”
“I have the rest of the night off.”
“You want to relax?”
“Can we have a bath? We’ve been so busy and I just want to be in your arms.”
He felt warmth spread through his body and wrapped his arms around her waist, “I’ll hold you.”
Something within him changed and she felt his tight grip on her ass as he pushed her against the wall near the bathroom. He tasted the alcohol but he ignored it because all he saw was her, “T-Tae.”
She gasped against his lips but hearing her say his name made his mind blinded with the need of her. His grip only tightened as he ground his hips against hers, “Y/N.”
“C-Can’t we go to the bedroom?”
“No.” He muttered, lips moving down her neck with his teeth scraping over her collarbone, “I need you now.”
He dragged her back to the couch with his hands already ripping off her clothes as he pushed her down into the cushions. The look in his eyes was something that she missed. It’s been a while since they had sex. It was due to their crazy work schedule but that all changes tonight, “I missed you.”
He yanked off his shirt and smiled down at her, “Missed you more.” His hands traced every curve of her body, squeezing her thighs, and his rough fingers brushing over her nipples. He kissed down to her stomach and spread open her legs to get what he wanted. Her clit in his mouth, sucking on it like he was dying. The way he worked his tongue made sure she remembered what it was like to be with him.
He stood up and cussed under his breath, “Let me get a condom.”
“I-I’ll be here...”
She watched him leave and she couldn’t help but laugh. She propped herself up on the couch with her on all fours waiting for him. When he entered back, he couldn’t help the smirk appearing. He slid the condom on and rubbed her back, “Good girl.”
“Tae, I need you.”
He didn’t bother with responding and pushed himself into her. He felt her pussy clenched around his cock and he couldn’t help but let out a groan, “I’m the only one that makes you feel like this.”
“O-Only you.”
“It’s always going to be me.”
He let out another groan, sliding deeper into her. He missed this. Her in his arms and just loving each other. It was his fault but maybe the feelings will go away now that they're together. He looked down at her and seeing her whimper just made him feel his heart swell. He rubbed her hips gently as he continued to thrust into her. Her breath caught in her throat and a breathy gasp escaped.
She spasmed around him and she felt her body shiver at the feeling. Taehyung put two fingers in her mouth and she would never deny him. He brought the fingers down to her clit, making her back arched. He felt himself release into the condom and he leaned down kissing her neck. They pressed their forehead together and he kissed her lips, “I love you.”
“I love you more. So much more, Y/N.”
₊✩‧₊˚౨ৎ˚₊✩‧₊
“Taehyung, are you going to watch me film?”
Taehyung smiled at her and nodded his head, “You watched me film for my music video. I need to do the same with you now.”
Y/N smiled and nodded her head as she put her jacket on, “I’m excited. It’s one of the final scenes.”
Taehyung put on his shoes and nodded his head, “Oh, what’s the scene?”
“Baek-hyeon and Aera kiss but they're not together yet. It’s just her realizing that she liked him.”
“You're going to kiss Jaehyun today?”
She turned towards him and nodded her head, “Yeah, it’s our first kissing scene and I’m hoping it’s a one-take.”
Taehyung nodded his head and ran his fingers through his hair, “I’m hoping that too...”
She raised her eyebrow and tilted her head, “What was that?”
“Nothing, just having a hard time putting my shoes on.”
They got into his car and he couldn’t focus on anything she was talking about. He kept picturing her kissing Jaehyun. He knew it was for a show but seeing her kiss Jaehyun was different. She wanted Jaehyun on this project and he couldn’t let that go. She was so excited for him to be on this, how was going to focus?
“Tae, are you okay?”
He parked the car and turned towards her with a small smile, “I’m okay. Are you ready?”
“Always.”
He sat in the background and he saw the chemistry that she had with Jaehyun. He felt his chest tighten when he saw Jaehyun pushing some hair back, touching her face gently. He watched Y/N wrap her arms around his neck and brought him into a kiss. The kiss was like their first kiss, shocking but passionate. He hated it.
“CUT! ONE MORE TAKE!”
This was going to kill him. He knows it. He leaned more into the chair and tried his best to ignore the kissing scene but he couldn’t help it. His eyes always moved up from his phone and watched Y/N kiss him. Over and over again.
It's been a rule, if you date an actor or actress you have to be strong. Especially when you see them kissing another for their new drama. Why is it so hard to be strong?
Final Act [ Don’t Leave Me Please ]
“Now my forever’s falling down’ - V, Sweet Night
It was the early morning, the streets were still empty as the sun gently entered the buildings waking everyone up from their deep sleep. Y/N slowly opened her eyes when she heard a cabinet close from the bathroom.
She quickly shook her head and picked up her phone to message Sejeong.
How is he?
She looked up from the text and stared at the wall with a hard look. It was a simple question that had a complex answer. An answer that she doesn’t have, which made things harder.
I don’t know...he hasn’t really talked to me since our conversation.
Give him some time.
Taehyung stared at the mirror with a hard look.
Taehyung has been like this for weeks now. Ever since the kiss, she knew something was really wrong. Not even his members could answer her and that’s what made everything so frustrating. No one knew what was wrong with him.
She was home now, filming was over with and she thought things would change but nothing. Taehyung was still acting like she wasn’t there. The next month would be when she would go overseas for the next episodes and she wouldn't see him. She needed to settle this now before things got worse.
Taehyung entered the kitchen and she sighed at his aura. She turned towards him with her arms crossed, “Tae, Jae invited us to his concert tonight. I was thinking-”
“I don’t want to go.”
Y/N frowned at this and shook her head at this, “Why? It would be a good date-”
“I just don’t want to go. You can have fun with Jaehyun.”
She rolled her eyes and took her breakfast, “Fine.”
He watched her leave the kitchen and he couldn’t help but feel like shit. He continued to make her upset but she was doing this for her. If he didn’t see Jaehyun then he wouldn’t feel the way he does. It would benefit the both of them but he couldn’t tell her this. He didn’t want to explain how he felt. It was hard for him to understand, he still didn’t understand how he felt or maybe he did but he didn’t want to voice it. He looked down at his food and felt sick to his stomach, he kept fucking up and he hated himself for that.
She ate in the living room and ignored him sitting next to her. She was just focusing on her phone and she texted Sejeong again. He doesn’t want to go to the concert with me.
Y/N...have you ever considered that he could be jealous?
What? Why would he be jealous?
Just think about it.
She glanced up from her phone and then at him, jealous? Why would Taehyung be jealous?
₊✩‧₊˚౨ৎ˚₊✩‧₊
The concert was amazing, she was finally going to meet NCT and she was so excited to do so. She was upset that Taehyung wasn’t with her but she tried her best to ignore that. She walked towards backstage and waved her hand at Jaehyun with excitement. She gave him a friendly hug and patted his back, “You were amazing out there.”
“Thanks, Y/N, it means a lot. Did Taehyung not come?”
She frowned and shook her head, “He didn’t want to come.”
“I’m sorry Y/N. I thought this concert would bring you two together...not push you further apart.”
“What do you mean?”
Jaehyun let out a small chuckle and shook his head, “You don’t see it?”
“I don’t understand.”
“Y/N, Taehyung is jealous.”
She let out a small laugh and rolled her eyes, “He can’t be-”
“Why? Why can’t he feel jealous?”
Y/N furrowed her eyebrows at him, “He’s never jealous. I tried making him jealous before we started dating and he never showed me signs.”
“He probably was jealous and never showed you...I would be jealous if I saw my girlfriend kiss another guy in front of me.”
“But he knows this is my job.”
Jaehyun shook his head at this, “It doesn’t matter. You can’t stop the heart.”
Y/N looked down at the ground and then back at Jaehyun with a guilty face, “Oh my god...I noticed that he was acting differently but I always assumed it was because of me...I thought it was because I was working so much.”
“This is why you guys talk to each other. You can solve a lot of problems by talking.”
Y/N let out a frustrated groan and shook her head, “Shut up, I don’t need this right now. I’m going home to fix it.”
“Tell him I said hi.”
She ignored him and made her way out of the arena. She didn’t even realize how fast she was walking until she bumped into someone. She looked up to say sorry but her eyes widened when she saw who it was, “Taehyung?”
“I’m sorry I didn’t come with you. I was acting childish for not speaking up when something was wrong.”
She shook her head and wrapped her arms around his waist, “No, I’m stupid because I noticed something was wrong but I didn’t do anything to fix it.”
“No, I didn’t voice anything to you. I’m sorry I made you feel that way.”
She was about to disagree but Taehyung brought her into a kiss, a sweet quick kiss. He put their foreheads together and smiled, “I’ll tell you more when we get home but I just needed to kiss you.”
“I liked it...Jaehyun told me you were jealous. Before we go, can you tell me.”
Taehyung sighed and glanced at the wall with a guilty look, “Yeah...I was jealous. I’ll tell you more at home.”
She nodded her head and made their way to his car, hand in hand. For the first time, they didn’t care if they were seen. The car ride was quiet as he moved his way in and out of the busy streets. She sat down on their couch and she looked up at him with eyes that made him feel safe. He ran his fingers through his hair and turned back at her, “I talked to Yoongi...”
“Oh? When?”
“When you left...”
Taehyung sighed to himself as he sat back on his bed. He felt guilty but he couldn’t see Y/N cheer for Jaehyun. It was too much for him. He grabbed his phone and dialed the person that always helped him, “Hello?”
“Hyung, I need help.”
Yoongi sighed into his phone, “Is everything okay? Did you do something stupid again-”
“I’m jealous of Jaehyun.”
“Wait, you're jealous?”
Taehyung sighed and laid on the bed looking up at the ceiling with a blank face, “I’m jealous of seeing him with Y/N. It’s so stupid because I know it’s her job and all this-”
“Tae, you can’t control how you feel. It happens.”
“I never feel like this. I shouldn’t be jealous, I have everything I could ever ask for.”
Yoongi sighed again and Taehyung could imagine him shaking his head, “It doesn’t matter what you have, sometimes you can’t help it. It’s okay to feel like that but you have to tell Y/N. I’m going to guess you didn’t tell her.”
Taehyung rubbed his forehead roughly, “No...I was hiding it from her.”
“How long?”
“Four months....”
“Dude, you're stupid. Go talk to her, now. Before I go down there and cut your hair.”
Y/N let out a small laugh and shook her head, “I can see Yoongi say that...Taehyung, why didn’t you tell me?”
“I felt like it was stupid. You were never jealous of what I do and I felt like if I was jealous...it would show you I’m not strong enough.”
Y/N stood up from the couch and stood in front of him. She pushed some hair back and shook her head, “You're strong to me. It makes you stronger when you talk about your feelings.”
“I know that now...It was because you wanted Jaehyun on this project. You were so excited to be in this series that it made me feel...it made me feel jealous that you wanted him. I thought it was because you had feelings for him or something. It’s stupid.”
“Stop saying that, it’s not stupid. It’s how you feel. I wanted Jaehyun because he wanted me to help him with his acting. I also saw how well he acted in his tape and it would be stupid of me to deny him. I’m sorry I made you feel that way.”
“I just wanted to show you that I’m supportive.”
“I already knew that, Tae.”
She leaned up and gave him a quick kiss. He smiled at her and leaned his forehead against hers, “I asked for the next couple of months off so I could go with you to film.”
“Really!?”
He nodded his head and kissed the tip of her nose, “I’ll show you how I’m the supportive boyfriend. Even if I’m jealous sometimes...”
She let out a small laugh and shook her head, “My little jelly bean.”
He rolled his eyes and pushed some hair back, “Please don’t leave me.”
“I would never leave you...ever.”
Epilogue
“I need you like a heart needs a beat” - One Republic
Y/N put her earring in when the dressing room door opened. She turned around and smiled, “You look great.”
Taehyung fixed his tie and smirked at her. He slowly walked up to her and one finger trailed from her cleavage to her chin, “I could say the same.”
She was wearing a black sequin dress that showed off her curves perfectly. Taehyung always went weak when she had bright red lipstick, it made him want to eat her out right there. Y/N pulled his tie to give him a quick kiss, “Are you going to be jealous tonight? You're going to see me kiss Jaehyun on the big screen.”
“Keep teasing me like that and I’ll make the press write an interesting story.”
“What do you mean?”
“Why is Y/N limping?”
She felt her face get hot and she smacked his chest, “You're so annoying.”
“But I’m yours.”
She let out a small laugh and wrapped her arms around his shoulder, “You're all mine. Forever.” As she said this, her ring shined under the dim dressing room light. The press was going to have a field day with that but they didn’t care. This was their universe and we were just living in it.

Taehyung's days at the station felt emptier, quieter, in a way that gnawed at him. It had been two weeks since you last showed up, and though he had once found your daily visits annoying, your sudden absence left him feeling unsettled. He tried to tell himself that it was for the best— you needed to move on, and so did he. But something about your silence, your complete disappearance, felt wrong.
At first, he welcomed the peace. No more fake complaints, no more lingering touches, no more of those pleading eyes that seemed to see right through him. But as the days dragged on, a strange anxiety took root in his chest. He found himself glancing at the door of the station, half-expecting you to walk in with another fabricated story. When the door stayed closed, his unease deepened.
Taehyung buried himself in work, trying to distract himself from the gnawing thoughts that plagued him. But no matter how busy he kept himself, he couldn’t shake the image of YN —the way she had looked at him, the desperation in her voice when she tried to get closer. He had pushed her away, thinking it was the right thing to do, but now he couldn’t help but wonder if he had been too harsh.
He told himself that you were just a troubled girl with a misguided infatuation. But deep down, something else stirred—a dark, possessive feeling he couldn’t quite name. It made him restless, unable to focus on anything for too long. He found himself replaying their encounters in his mind, dissecting every word, every gesture. Was she really as crazy as he had thought, or had she just been... misunderstood?
Late at night, when the station was quiet and the city slept, Taehyung would sit alone at his desk, staring at his phone. He would scroll through his contacts, pausing on YN’s name, his thumb hovering over the call button. But each time, he would set the phone down, cursing himself for even considering it. She was better off without him. Yet, the thought of her moving on, of her being with someone else, made his chest tighten with an unfamiliar rage.
As the days passed, that rage festered, mixing with a growing sense of desperation. He needed to see her, to talk to her, to know why she had suddenly disappeared from his life. It wasn’t love—at least, that’s what he told himself. It was something darker, something that made his pulse race and his thoughts spiral. He had to see her. He had to know.
Finally, after two agonizing weeks, Taehyung couldn’t take it anymore. One evening, he drove to your apartment, his heart pounding in his chest. He told himself that he just needed closure, that once he saw you again, he could put this obsession to rest. He bought a bouquet of flowers on the way, thinking it would soften the tension between them. Maybe they could talk, clear the air, and he could finally move on.
But as he approached your apartment building, he saw something that made his blood run cold. Through the dimly lit window, he saw Yn standing in her living room, her arms wrapped around another man. They were close, too close, and then she leaned in, pressing her lips against his.
Taehyung's heart shattered in an instant. For a moment, he felt nothing—just a hollow, aching void where his heart had been. Then, slowly, a twisted smile spread across his face. His grip on the bouquet tightened until the delicate stems snapped, thorns piercing his palm. He felt the sharp sting of pain, but it barely registered. Blood seeped from his hand, staining the white petals of the crushed flowers, but he didn’t care.
His eyes remained fixed on you, a single tear sliding down his cheek. He could feel his sanity unraveling, slipping through his fingers like sand. The man you were kissing didn’t matter—he was insignificant, a mere obstacle in Taehyung's path. What mattered was you, YN. And you were his, whether you realized it or not.
Taehyung stood there for a long time, watching them through the window. His mind raced with dark, twisted thoughts, his heart pounding with a sickening mix of pain and exhilaration. The rage he had been trying to suppress for weeks boiled over, but it didn’t explode in violence. Instead, it simmered, cold and calculating, as he planned his next move.
He would let you have this moment, let you think you were free of him. But you weren't. You never would be. He would bide his time, wait for the perfect moment to remind you that you belonged to him. And when he did, you would understand that there was no escape.
With a final, lingering glance at the window, Taehyung turned and walked away, leaving a trail of crushed petals and blood in his wake. The flowers were ruined, but it didn’t matter. They had served their purpose, just as Yn would serve hers. And when the time came, he would be ready to claim what was his.
---
Taehyung’s POV
The sound of the door locking behind me echoed through the room. For a moment, I just stood there, staring at her—no, at you. My heart hammered in my chest, the adrenaline from what I’d done still pulsing in my veins. James’s lifeless body lay on the floor, but my eyes were only on you.
You were trembling, bound to the chair, looking up at me with a mixture of fear and disbelief. I almost laughed. After everything I’d done—everything I’d shown you—you still didn’t understand, did you? You didn’t realize that all of this was for you. For us.
I stepped closer, my shoes sticking slightly to the blood-stained floor. The sight of James lying there didn’t bother me. He was nothing. Just an obstacle—one that had been removed. What mattered now was you.
"Why?" you whimpered, your voice barely a whisper. Tears streamed down your cheeks, and my heart twisted in my chest at the sight. I hated seeing you cry, but at the same time, there was something… beautiful about it. You were even more precious in your vulnerability.
I knelt beside you, gently brushing away the tear that had slipped down your cheek. "Why?" I repeated, my voice soft, almost tender. "Because I had to. You’re mine. He was in the way."
You shook your head, pulling back from my touch as much as the ropes allowed. "You’re insane, Taehyung."
My fingers froze mid-air, and for a split second, I felt a flash of anger—an unfamiliar, burning heat in my chest. But I pushed it down. You didn’t mean it. You were just scared. I could fix this. I could make you understand.
"I’m not insane," I said quietly, standing up and walking over to the body. I nudged James’s arm with the toe of my shoe, his lifeless form rolling slightly. "I did what was necessary, sweetheart. He was keeping you from me. He was going to take you away."
My voice hardened, turning cold as I stared down at the corpse. "And no one takes you from me."
I glanced back at you, watching the way your eyes widened in horror, your chest rising and falling in rapid breaths. You looked so fragile, so delicate. But you’d pushed me to this, hadn’t you? If you hadn’t kissed him—if you hadn’t tried to replace me—none of this would have happened.
I clenched my fists, nails digging into my palms, and a familiar warmth seeped from the fresh cuts. The pain was grounding, a reminder of my devotion to you. "You don’t understand it now, but you will," I murmured, turning to face you fully. "You’ll see that I did this for us. You’re the only one for me, and I’m the only one for you."
I walked over to you again, pulling out the rose I’d brought. The thorns pricked my fingers, but I barely noticed. I held it out to you, my heart aching for you to take it.
"You’ve always liked roses, haven’t you? I remember you telling me that." I smiled, and for a moment, I felt something soften inside of me. "I brought this for you."
You stared at it like it was poison. But after a few agonizing seconds, your shaking hands reached out and took the rose. You winced as the thorns dug into your skin, but you didn’t let go. I smiled, relief washing over me. You were starting to see it. You were starting to understand.
---
For two weeks, I’d been empty without you. I had tried to let you go. I really had. But every time I thought of you in someone else’s arms, kissing someone else… I couldn’t breathe. The rage, the jealousy—it consumed me.
I had thought about killing him then, in that moment outside your house. But no. I wanted to wait. I wanted to make sure you were mine first, that you would never try to leave again.
I crouched down in front of you, reaching out to take your hand, feeling the slight tremor in your fingers. "You’re scared now. I understand. But I did this for us." I looked into your eyes, my gaze softening as I cupped your cheek with my bloodstained hand. "I’ll never let anyone hurt you. I’ll never let anyone take you away from me."
---
I stood up and started pacing the room, my hands twitching as I wiped away the blood on my pants, lost in my own thoughts. You belonged to me now. No one else could have you. I would keep you safe, even from yourself.
"You’ll be happy with me, I promise," I said, turning to face you. My heart was pounding again, the excitement building as I imagined our future. "I’ll take care of everything. You won’t have to worry about anyone else ever again."
You didn’t respond, your eyes still wide with terror. I frowned, my frustration bubbling up. Why couldn’t you see? Why couldn’t you just accept my love? I had done all of this for you—for us.
I knelt down beside you again, my fingers wrapping gently around your chin as I forced you to meet my gaze. "Look at me." My voice was soft, but there was an edge to it now. "You’re mine. You always have been. And you will be forever."
---
I saw the way your body tensed, the way you tried to pull back. But it didn’t matter. You couldn’t leave. I wouldn’t let you.
"I won’t hurt you," I whispered, leaning closer, my lips brushing against your ear. "But if you try to leave again…" I trailed off, letting the silence hang in the air. I didn’t need to finish the sentence. You knew what I meant.
I stood up and turned away, my mind racing with plans. I had to make sure you understood, had to show you that we were meant to be together. I wouldn’t let anyone else take you from me. Not now. Not ever.
I glanced back at you, my smile returning as I saw the fear in your eyes. "We’re going to be so happy together," I murmured, more to myself than to you. "Just you and me. Forever."

It’s a lovely spring morning; the trees are green, and the flowers are beginning to bloom. The sun is out and the air is fresh. You have one of the most beautiful views in the city outside your office, floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the new growth and warm weather. You’re relaxing into your seat, basking in it…that is, until the elevator down the hall stops on your floor, and you know exactly who's about to step off. You type out your usual frantic message to everyone in their office cubicles in the expanse between the elevators and his office, which you sit directly outside of, and hit send.
Y/n: Satan is entering the gates of hell
Everyone rushes frantically back to their desks. Hushed whispers sound across the void, filling the atmosphere with nervous energy. The elevator dings and silence is instant. You watch as your boss struts along, ignoring everyone else’s presence entirely.
“Good morning, sir,” you remark with a polite smile as soon as he reaches your desk, to which he strides past you, straight into his office. Resisting the urge to make a sarcastic remark, you focus back on your work, but your irritation grows towards him. Your patience is already thin this morning.
Discreetly, you glance in his direction, noting the way he sits behind his desk, leaning back in his chair, leg crossed casually over the other, and flipping through document pages with an arrogance you can see, even from here. You absolutely hate how good-looking he is. Why does someone so infuriating get to look like that? It somehow makes his whole attitude even worse.
His low voice calling your name snaps your attention. "Get in here."
Sliding your chair out from under your desk, you follow orders.
“Yes, Mr Kim, ” you respond, standing with hands clasped in front of you. Your posture and all-black attire, particularly the skirt, were requested by him.
“Where was my usual tea this morning?” he asks, eyes unwavering from the pages he's absorbed in.
“The shop was closed this morning, sir, and I thought it best not to go to the other one, as you told me their tea 'looks and tastes like noodle soup.'” Your heart races with annoyance, as you chew the inside of your lip, attempting to hold back any smart-arse remarks.
I’ll tell you where I’d like to put your tea, sir, I’d shove it right up your-
“Then, what is this?” He points to the mug you left on his desk in replacement, a look of disdain twisting his face.
“That’s the tea I made for you, Sir.”
His eyes meet yours for a second with a hard stare. “Right, well next time, how about...don’t.”
Your teeth clamp together, jaw tensing as you struggle to bite back your retort, instead opting to take the tea and down it right in front of him. The hot liquid burns your throat as it slides down uncomfortably, and you carefully place the mug back on his desk, wiping the corners of your mouth with your fingertips.
"Is that better, sir?" You smile sweetly, but it’s written all over his face that he knows it’s not genuine judging by the glare he throws your way.
Your stomach somersaults nervously, worrying you've gone too far before his eyes fall back down to his paper.
“I have an unscheduled meeting in twenty minutes, it’s important, so make sure I am not disturbed by anyone. Are we clear?” He meets your eyes again, the intimidating aura he radiates hitting you fiercely.
“Y-yes, Mr Kim. Should I delay the ten o’clock meeting then?”
“You’re a smart girl; figure it out.”
He looks back down at his work, seeming bored of your presence, but you stand there aghast as to what you can reply to that without getting fired.
“Get out.” He waves a hand, dismissing you.
"Right away, sir." You bow dramatically before leaving and closing the door, forcing yourself not to slam it and wishing you could go and scream into a pillow.
Mr Kim Taehyung can kiss your arse.
Sitting back down at your desk, searching for anything to get your mind off the frustratingly rude man, when your mobile phone rings, surprising you. Even more so when you see it's your mum.
"Yes, mama, I'll be down this weekend," you say quietly into your phone once you're finally able to get a word in. Keeping your voice low to avoid your slave driver of a boss hearing your personal call.
Your mother’s squeal makes you giggle. "Like I'd miss my parents’ thirtieth wedding anniversary celebration."
"How long are you staying for this time? It's been too long since I've seen my baby!" she stresses.
You can't help the smile that tugs at your mouth. "I know, mama, I'm still working on that."
"You need to tell that boss of yours that enough is enough before he ends up working you to the bone!" Her disapproving tone makes you feel at home.
You see Mr Kim heading your way, "Hmm-mmm, listen, ma, I've got to go; I'll see you this weekend. Love you." You hang up abruptly and get straight back to typing.
"Personal calls should be taken at personal times," he says firmly, heading off down the hall.
Heat flashes up your chest, and your attempt to bite down a retort wavers, "That would mean me being allowed a personal life, sir, " you call after him.
His steps falter for a brief moment before continuing on with not another word or so much as a glance in your direction.
You swallow and let out the breath you didn't realise you'd been holding, envisioning hurling your phone at the back of his head. I wonder how hard I'd have to throw it to knock him unconscious or to at least give him a concussion.
Taking a long breath and trying not to grind your teeth, something that has become a habit lately and focusing back on your workload.
A short while later, Mr Kim is sitting in his unscheduled “important” meeting, meaning you could blissfully get on with paperwork without interruption. However, glancing up from your computer, you notice how tense and somewhat uncomfortable Mr Kim looks, something most uncharacteristic of him. So it does not surprise you when your work phone vibrates loudly at your desk. Looking down, you see the message "Save me," sent from him, your usual code system to get him out of something he really doesn't want to be part of anymore.
Getting up from your desk and striding across the space, you knock quietly on the door before entering.
"Sir, you have an urgent call on--"
"Ah, here she is," Mr Kim beams at you, a sight that is not only shocking because of how rare it is but also how breathtakingly gorgeous his smile is. You stand there frozen in your spot, unsure what has caused this sudden change in his mood. "No need to stand on ceremony, sweetheart; Mr. Jung is well aware of our upcoming nuptials."
You stare at him blankly, wondering if he's perhaps having some kind of stroke and considering whether or not you should call an ambulance. He comes over to your rooted feet by the door, and before you can say anything, his arm winds around your waist and guides you over to his desk. You're hyper-aware of his hand on you in such an intimate manner and it infuriates you, boiling your blood liquid hot in your veins. It feels like everything's moving in slow motion while you attempt to piece together all the chaotic thoughts happening in your mind, but nothing makes any sense.
Upcoming nuptials? Hell would have to freeze over more than once for you to be hitched to a man as rage-inducing as him. In fact, you'd rather be a miserable, shrivelled-up spinster living with a household full of cats than walk down an aisle where he's waiting for you.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, and please, call me Hoseok." Mr Jung stands up and shakes your hand, offering you a dazzling grin. You don't fail to notice his suspicious gaze raking over you and your boss. "So, a wedding, that sure is exciting, huh?" he asks you, raising an eyebrow as he waits for your response.
You feel Mr Kim's hand dig into your waist, sparking you to say, "Yes, very. Who doesn't love a wedding?"
Hoseok laughs. "It's true, they are such joyous occasions. Are you prepared? Is everything set, I mean?"
Before you can say anything, you hear your boss's baritone voice beside you, sending vibrations through your body and muddling your mind even more. "There are still a few things here and there to take care of, but I have faith it will all be done in time."
"Perfect." The man smiles at you. "So your families know about this wedding?"
Hell, I didn't even know about it, so they definitely don't.
"I don't have any family; both my parents died years ago, no siblings or grandparents alive," Mr Kim admits, voice impassive. You can't help but be surprised by this new piece of information. You’re unsure if that was true or part of his weird ruse, but your heart tugs a little at imagining someone not having anyone, even someone as vile as him.
"Oh, I am sorry," Hoseok offers, "and what about your family?" He aims at you.
"We were planning on telling her family this weekend," Mr Kim interjects. “It's her parents' wedding anniversary, so we thought we'd go up there for the bank holiday and surprise them, didn't we, sweetheart?"
You clench your teeth together to stop your mouth from popping open in shock. He squeezes you closer to his side, a movement that has you tensing your jaw in an attempt to keep the searing in your veins down to a minimum.
"Yes, yes, we are," you add, forcing a smile.
"So what happens now?" Mr Kim asks.
You glance up at him, then at Hoseok, who seems to be scrutinising your every move. You resist the urge to squirm uncomfortably in Mr Kim's grasp.
"Well, you'll both have to come in for an interview at some point. Provided you both pass this stage and I deem this marriage legitimate then, we'll fill in the necessary paperwork, you'll no longer be deported and your new visa will be valid."
You no longer hear the words being said, everything becoming muffled and moving in slow motion. Deportation!? Legitimate marriage!? That's why he's made this up, so he can stay in the country.
You feel your stomach drop to your feet, heavy, yet threatening to shoot up and out of your mouth, decorating his office carpet.
"Great. Is there anything else you need from us, Mr Jung?"
He taps his chin and stares at you quizzically. "Just make sure neither of you are lying, then we'll have no problems. A fine and prison time is not to be looked at lightly."
What!? You laugh nervously. "People actually get sent to prison for that?"
He nods. "Sure, it happens all the time. You could face up to five years in prison and a two hundred and fifty thousand dollar fine, and yet people still think that they can trick us." He rolls his eyes and shakes his head. "Anyway, I'll be sending you both a letter about when and where your interview will occur, most likely in a few weeks, I look forward to seeing you both then."
You shake hands before he's gone and both of you are rooted to the spot, staring after him.
Soon enough, Mr Kim moves back around to his desk, flicking through his papers, his eyes focused as if nothing out of the ordinary has just happened.
You stand there frozen, waiting for some kind of explanation, and when nothing comes, you speak up, "Excuse me, sir, but what was that?"
He sighs as if bored by your presence and continues to focus on the files in front of him. "They were going to fire me once I got deported and give Mr Park my job."
You stare at him, wide-eyed and open-mouthed.
"Don't worry, we'll get married and get a quickie divorce. It will be over in no time."
You feel like your feet will surely collapse from the weight of this burden that has suddenly become yours. Without asking or consenting, you've ended up in a situation you're unsure how to deal with or get out of.
"Sir," you finally speak, breaking through your stunned silence and swallowing the burning you feel rising into your throat. "I cannot marry you."
Finally, he drops his papers and meets your panicked eyes. "Listen, you don't really have a choice; if you don't, I'll fire you and ensure that any new job you apply for will have zero interest in hiring you. I'll make something up so terrible you'll be blacklisted, and where will that leave you, after all the hard work you've put in during the last three years? Hmm?"
You stare into his cold, dark eyes and know there's no hint of a lie or an exaggeration in his words.
“All of those late nights runs to the grocery store for me, all the weekend calls and late night working will have been for nothing.”
You struggle to find the words, feeling your world crashing in on you and smothering you beyond belief. Feeling yourself being pushed against a rock and a mountain with nowhere to escape, when all your legs want to do is run.
You suck deep breaths into your lungs.
He would ruin your career and everything you've worked so hard for. In one fell swoop, your life would be over. For the last three years your job has been everything, not allowing an ounce of a social life; no holidays and no relationships, nothing has existed outside of your job.
Not to mention, how could you afford your apartment if you had no job? You'd have to move back home with your parents to small-town life...the thought made your stomach churn, that was more frightening than anything.
"If I do this, I'm taking a big risk here, so I'm going to need some assurances."
He smirks, sinking back into his chair and folding his arms across his chest. The material of his blazer stretched across his bicep muscles, giving him an even more intimidating edge.
"I wasn't aware you were in a position to make demands."
Your hands clench into fists at your sides, longing to make a connection to his perfectly chiselled jaw, as anger bubbles inside the deepest pit of hatred you have for this man.
"I could go to prison! You're not asking me to go on a business trip; you're asking me to marry you so you can stay in the country! So, you either give me what I want, or I quit here and now, and bye-bye, Mr Kim, hello, Mr Park." turning towards his office door, your face flushes with angry heat. Feeling brazen and reckless, two can play at this game and if you are going to do this, you are damn sure you're going to make it worth your while.
"Wait," he says quickly.
Glancing back, you watch the smugness on his features slowly die as he realises how serious you are. "What is it you want?"
"A promotion. Not a bullshit one you make up so I can continue assisting you either."
He sighs and massages his temples. "Ok, ok, fine. How about the head of a department?"
You've wanted that since you started at this company; ever since you were hired, that has been your focus and the only thing getting you through this role.
"Hm, which department?" You act coy, knowing there's only one answer you want to hear.
He rubs his face and groans, his cool, calm exterior well and truly forgotten. "Design. That's what you want, isn't it?"
Taken aback by how he could have known that you pause for a moment before composing yourself once again. "Yes. I want it in writing and signed by you."
"Fine."
You nod, feeling a triumphant bloom expand in your chest.
"Are we done here?" He asks.
"Ask me nicely."
His hands come down hard on the desk; an exasperated look withers his face. "What?"
"Ask me nicely to marry you."
His mouth pops open, closes, and opens again. His cheeks flush, and the sight makes you smile. Who would have thought something so simple would make him blush?
"That's ridiculous."
"Ok, goodbye, Mr Kim; I wish I could say nice knowing you." You turn and push his office door open.
"Alright," he calls. "Just….shut the door."
You can hear the pleading in his voice, knowing how desperate he is and wondering how much you should take advantage of that. You do as he says, step back into the room, and watch with unashamed amusement as he stands up and rounds his desk, closing the gap between you rather sheepishly.
He takes a deep breath as his eyes stay fixed on your blazer's lapels. "Will-"
"On one knee, please." You interrupt.
His cheeks darken as he prepares to argue, but he second-thinks as his eyes flit desperately between yours. He slowly sinks down onto the ground at your feet and plasters on a fake and yet still dazzling smile, "Will you, please, marry me?" he finally says, sarcasm dripping off of every word.
For a moment, you enjoy the sight of him on his knees in front of you, looking up through thick eyelashes, but your abhorrence of him stops your mind from going any further.
"Fine," you reply with a smirk as you walk out, leaving him staring at your back. If you are doing this for him, you sure as hell are going to make him pay for it.

your customers had given you a long list of items. they didn't specify but after brainstorming for hours after hours, you finally got a clue as you took it all out on the polymer clay.
you had estimated the customer's delivery to be done in the span of fifteen days, but just in case of any disturbance, they granted you two weeks. that is two days extra.
taehyung was your junior by experience and although you didn't need any help, he offered. even if it was baking the polymer clay in the oven or helping you with errands. he truly was an angel for that.
the first few days went smoothly. taehyung would be at your workplace before you, all ready to work with you alongside. he'd tend the workplace, cleaning the floor with the broom, dusting the windows and changing water for your flowers everyday. he wasn't real. he couldn't be. he was so so sweet and so caring.
but as the days pass, you found him...annoying?
so you took a deep breath. then exhaled—focusing on your work in hand. it was more important after all.
you started off with the big work: a vase for artificial flowers. it took you two days, with the sculpturing, baking, painting. and the only disturbance you found was taehyung.
he didn't mean to. he really didn't. how would he even know that the whistling, humming to a jazz song, the brooming sound would disturb you.
"taehyung," you called out. you didn't mean to use that firm tone, but it just slipped. he didn't seem to mind it tho.
he stopped humming, stopped dusting the sofa, stopped all of the work just you look at you with a hum.
"you should take a break," you say, "i can handle—"
"no. i insist," he interrupts, "by the way, you got a little paint on your cheek...right there."
slightly embarrassed, you wiped the stain with your sleeve before giving him a small—not so real smile.
and how could you say no to him. because just look at him.
so you inhaled. then exhaled. counting numbers in your head—a habit you did whenever you felt the need to calm your nerves.
after you placed the vase to the side, you started with the smaller works: decorative plant pots and planters along with some dollhouse accessories for the customer's little daughter.
as the days pass by, your annoyance at taehyung. more and more.
to add fuel to it, taehyung brings a classic CD player. he smiles at you as he plays jazz and you return the smile to him. a proper fake smile this time which he didn't seem to mind.
"one. two. three. four—" your small muttering reaches his ears.
"y/n? why are you counting?"
it seems like you thought loudly.
"no reason. no reason at all," you offer the fakest smile—if fakest is a word—and taehyung was oblivious enough.
taehyung wears the safely gloves as he takes out the final batch of your work, placing it down on your working station for you to paint.
"you know y/n, you should add some flowers on that big vase," he suggests looking at the away placed clay work, "it looks plain."
you think for a second. your eyebrows raise in genuine interest, "you're...you're right..."
without much thinking, you took the vase back on your station. mixing a few lovely colours, you started with etching the vase. clam and careful.
but then, the sound of jazz interrupted the calmness as well as you.
and you snapped. turning to face him, "taehyung enough with the music—" but it seems like you turned a little to hastily. and the vase you worked on for two days? it fell right on the batch of new works.
who's fault was it?
kim. tae. hyung.
your expression turned into an angry one and his eyes widen.
and you did what you thought you'd never do.
you yelled at him. blaming him for the work that was now ruined. and mainly, you scolded him for his presence, saying that you could've done the work faster if he wasnt there with you.
"y/n...i just wanted to help—"
"leave." you declared. and before he could say anything, you repeated firmly, "leave."
his surprised expressions turned to a disappointed one. he removed the apron and the safely gloves, as he marched to exit the room
and you were left alone with the work.
the new batch is only a small portion. you convinced yourself. i can fix it.
but then your gaze fell onto the vase that took you two days. and you sighed. a big big sigh. the saddest sigh on the planet, realising that you're running out of time. and by that, it means you have only two days left.
but it's not much work is it? you convince yourself again, looking at the time. it was late. the clear bright colours of the sky had turned darker.
you were too tired to think.
"i'm home," you announced lazily. your roommate, fixed her glasses, looking up from her laptop.
"you're late," she says, "and you're a mess. you got paint on your cheek."
maybe you've gone crazy. cause that sentence alone reminded you of taehyung.
"tell me," she closes her laptop as you sit across her on the sofa, "why the long face?"
you knew she was persistent. so you ranted and ranted and ranted.
"y/n, are you hearing yourself?" she makes a tsk tsk tsk sound, "go back to your words. and tell me who's fault it it."
'...it's my fault."
"and who do you think is gonna be there for you to fix it?" she asks, a teasy tone in her voice.
"...taehyung."
she leans back on the sofa, "there we go. you really let your anger and annoyance control you like that." she notices your expression—guilt etching your features, "hey, talk to him tomorrow. apologize. what's the worst thing that could happen. and besides, your crush on him—"
"we don't talk about that," you cut her off, but her expressions told you enough, "will he forgive me?"
"trust me y/n," she places an arm on your shoulder, "the boy loves you just as deeply as you love him."
"i'm not—you know what? i'll apologize to him. even if it means begging him."
one. two. three. four—
you stopped the counting. it was the next day and the unexpected happens.
taehyung was there like everyday. his expression so soft you wanted to bite him. but no. no letting your emotions get you this time.
"y/n—"
"taehyung," you stopped him, stepping closer, you exhaled, "i messed up. i was so caught up in my emotions that i just—i overreacted. i got angry at you, and i know now that it wasn’t your fault at all. it was me. i didn’t stop to think things through. hell, i wasn't thinking at all. you were just trying to help, trying to make things better, and i…i just shut you out. i was rude—"
"y/n, listen—"
"no. i'm not done," you inhaled again, and then, "i'm sorry. i'm really sorry. so so sorry. all because of a stupid vase, i criticized you. and i just got so sensitive that i didn't tell you that little noises disturbed me. but i just couldn't say no and yes, this is entirely my fault—"
hm?
what just happened?
i'll tell you what happened.
taehyung cut you off, colliding his lips onto yours making you stop with your rambling, his hands firmly yet gently cupping your face, just in case you'd push him away too soon.
when he pulled back, his expressions switched. and an sheepish look etched.
"i-i didn't know how to...y'know. so i—" he cleared his throat, "the thing is, i—" he stops himself after studying your face. full of confusion.
so he gets to the point. stepping away, he walks to your working station.
your eyes widen as he pulled a cloth off and revealed the pretty painted polymer clay works. the plant pots, planters, dollhouse accessories and the vase. all were done perfectly.
"i um...stayed up all night. i tried to copy your style, i don't know if i did a good job at it, besides the planters were the only batch that were left and along with the vase—"
"taehyung stop talking—"
"no no, listen. i get it. your emotions got you there. but there was a time—times when you were so patient with me—whenever i got on your nerves. i'm just an annoying junior who'd test your patience—"
hm?
what just happened?
you grabbed onto his collar and smashed your lips on his.
"taehyung, forgive me. please."
he smiled and you returned it. with a real real smile, "you know taehyung, you got a little bit of paint on your cheek—"
he pressed his lips on yours again. softly.
"does this mean i'm forgiven?"
"never was mad at you in the first place."

Next Chapter

Warnings - dead parents mention, anxiety symptoms, health issues mention
The shrill blare of your alarm yanks you out of sleep, echoing sharply from somewhere across the room. With a groggy whine, you fling a pillow in its direction—only to notice the noise is coming from your phone. You groan and peel yourself out of bed, checking your phone after turning off the alarm. The time blinks back at you mercilessly. Your first day back at university, after almost a week, you’ll be late if you don’t hurry.
Muttering a quick curse under your breath, you throw down your phone and grab some clothes from your closet: a red and black plaid skirt, fishnets, a random band tee you stole from Taehyung, and your well-worn, thrifted combat boots, a staple of yours. You quickly throw on some simple makeup with heavy and smudged black eyeliner and brush your hair with your fingers before grabbing your phone and bag and practically running out the door.
You barely make it to school on time, breathing a sigh of relief as you glance down at your phone: 8:00 a.m., Monday, October 4th. "I have about 15 minutes before my first class," you mutter.
Before you can tuck your phone into your bag, you feel it vibrate. You smile as you see ‘Yoon Man’ flash across the screen. You answer, unable to resist teasing him a little. “Well, good morning to you, too,” you say, knowing exactly how much he despises being up this early.
A low, annoyed groan filters through the line. “Don’t start,” Yoongi mutters, his voice thick with irritation. He pauses, sighing heavily. “Just calling to remind you we’ve got practice today.”
“As if I’d forget.” You scoff, feigning offense as you fall into step, strolling down the hallway. Yoongi chuckles softly on the other end before you hear the 'beep beep beep' of your call being cut short. He unknowingly helped calm your nerves about being back at school.
"Hey, you!" A voice sharply calls out behind you. Before you have time to turn around and react, you feel a firm grip on your wrist pulling you down the hall.
As you glance up, you spot the back of a boy’s head—his longer, wavy hair gathered into a loose ponytail. You barely have time to process it before being pulled into the bathroom. He slams the door shut, locking it behind him with a quick, decisive click.
You look up, and there he is—Jeon Jungkook. You’ve never formally met him, but his reputation precedes him, shadowed by countless rumors. He grins at you, a sparkle in his eyes that you can’t quite read and an air of casual ease that somehow makes him even more infuriating. “What the hell is wrong with you?” you snap, narrowing your eyes as you rub the soreness from your wrist, still stinging from his grip.
He smirks, clearly enjoying your irritation, and leans in, his voice dropping to a smooth, playful tone. “I need you to do something for me.” His head tilts as he studies you, flashing a lopsided smile that’s a touch too practiced, a hint too fake—and it sends a chill down your spine despite the easy charm in his gaze.
You look him up and down, finally getting a good look at him before crossing your arms across your chest. "And the way you want to ask me this is by locking me in the bathroom?" You raise an eyebrow, your voice thick with irritation.
He lets out a low, frustrated groan. “I just need you to listen to me for a minute, okay?” He sounds as if he’s trying to keep his usual smooth charm intact. He steps closer, his playful smile fading just enough to reveal a flicker of annoyance beneath it.
As he moves closer, it’s impossible not to notice just how handsome he is. He has big, round, doe-like eyes that are a beautiful shade of brown. His nose is flat at the tip, and his fake smile is charming, even if it does creep you out a little. "I never said I wasn't listening." You reply, trying to mask your unease.
You feel the cold bathroom door against your back as Jungkook steps closer, his hands sliding to rest on either side of your shoulders. He takes a deep breath, his gaze locking with yours. "I need you to do me this favor." He looks deep into your eyes, making you even more uncomfortable about the situation.
Your eyebrows furrow at his words. "A favor? I don't even know you; I only know of you." Your voice wavers slightly, frustration bleeding into the words. And what I know isn’t exactly promising.
You attempt to brush his hands off your shoulders, but he tightens his grip in response. You feel your chest growing heavy with anxiety and irritation. Seriously? Who does he think he is? The main love interest in a drama?
He’s close—too close—and the faint scent of him invades your senses: clean clothes fresh out of the dryer, undercut with a hint of musk, probably his deodorant. You feel your stomach twist, a mix of annoyance and something you’d rather not name. Focus. He’s not special. Not even close.
"It's not that deep, okay? Just hear me out." He rolls his eyes, letting out an exasperated sigh before his gaze locks onto yours once more.
Your heart stutters in your chest, the intensity of his stare igniting a fresh wave of anxiety. Not that deep? That’s rich coming from someone who has me pinned against a door like this. What kind of ‘favor’ even requires this level of dramatics?
"Well, spit it out then." You almost hiss in response. You can feel your patience growing thin as that heavy feeling in your chest continues to grow.
I’m gonna vomit. Your palms feel clammy, your fingers curl into loose fists at your sides, nails digging lightly into your palms. Your breath catches in your throat for a moment before you force it out, trying to maintain a façade of control. He wouldn't actually hurt you. Right?
Your knees lock instinctively, as though bracing yourself for a fight-or-flight moment. A faint buzzing fills your ears, and you’re acutely aware of the heat creeping up your neck. He’s still staring at you, his dark eyes unwavering. Why won’t he just get to the point already? This is unbearable. What if he—
You shove the thought away before it can spiral further. Your jaw clenches, and you force yourself to hold his gaze, even though the weight of it makes your skin prickle. Don’t show him you’re rattled.
Just focus. Breathe. Just like Yoongi taught you. In through you nose out through your mouth.
He takes another deep breath and brings his face down closer to yours. "I need you to pretend to be my girlfriend for a week. That's all I need you to do." He flashes you another fake, award-winning smile, the kind that’s disarmingly charming yet entirely unnerving.
"THE FUCK?" You yell into his face. Did he really just ask you that? The absurdity of the request hangs heavy in the air, leaving you momentarily speechless.
He groans at your outburst, swiftly covering your mouth with his left hand. “Be quiet, will you?! I need you to do this.” You glare up at him, but he remains unfazed, leaning in closer to whisper in your ear. “All I need you to do is pretend to be my girlfriend. Don’t overcomplicate it—just say yes.”
"Why should I?" you ask, raising an eyebrow.
Is he serious right now? Your mind races, caught between disbelief and irritation. Does he think I’m just waiting around for him to swoop in with his ridiculous demands? Who even does that?
Your stomach churns as you try to process what’s happening. Pretend to be his girlfriend? For what? And why me? There are about a hundred other girls in this school who’d probably jump at the chance. So why is he standing here, breathing down my neck like I’m his only option?
You narrow your eyes at him, folding your arms as if that alone could shield you from the mess he’s clearly trying to drag you into. Whatever his reason is, it’s not good enough.
He groans and backs away from you, placing his hands on his hips. "I need a girl to pretend to be my girlfriend just for a week." He says with a weary sigh.
You huff, the disbelief bubbling in your chest threatening to spill over. “I want to know the reasoning behind this ridiculous request,” you can feel your muscles relax a little no longer feeling that you are in danger. “Because I’d be sacrificing my peace here at school for you.”
And peace isn’t exactly something I have a lot of to begin with. You internally cringe at the thought of the chaos this would bring—the whispers, the stares, the inevitable drama. Being the ‘Golden Boy’s girlfriend’? Yeah, no thanks. Your stomach churns as the reality of it settles in.
Everyone loves him. He’s good at literally everything. Perfect grades, perfect looks, perfect charm. But beneath all that ‘perfection,’ there’s a reputation that follows him like a shadow—his love of women.
Of all the people in this school, he picks me? Why? And why the hell does he think I’d agree?
Jungkook groans, running his fingers through his hair in exasperation. “It’s my parents,” he admits as he turns away from you. “They keep pestering me about when I’ll get a girlfriend, and honestly, I just can’t deal with it anymore.”
You blink, caught between disbelief and amusement. “Then go get a girlfriend? You’ve got tons of girls interested in you.” Your tone is sharp, almost mocking, because seriously—what is this guy’s problem?
You bite the inside of your cheek to suppress a laugh. Does he really not see the irony here? Women practically throw themselves at him for even a sliver of attention. Hell, half the school would line up just for the chance to say they’ve kissed him.
Then a thought hits you, making your stomach churn. Wait, is he pulling that cliché ‘you’re not interested in me, so now I’m interested in you’ nonsense? You nearly gag at the idea. God, gross. Don’t flatter yourself, Jungkook.
He exhales sharply, pinching the bridge of his nose. You can tell patience isn’t his strong suit. "It’s complicated, okay? I don’t need my parents up my ass about a relationship right now, so pretend to be my girlfriend just for a week, and I’ll pay you." His eyes flick down to your wrist, lingering on the faint red mark left behind. His tone softens slightly. “And I’m sorry for being so aggressive. I couldn’t exactly bring this up in the hallway.”
You pause, studying him carefully. He almost seems genuine—or at least as genuine as someone making such a ridiculous request can be. Still, your gaze sweeps over him, searching for something—anything—that might betray his true intentions. His body language screams frustration. Is he always this impossible to read?
Narrowing your eyes, you cross your arms. "You aren’t exactly making me want to say yes," you reply flatly, watching as he closes his eyes tightly, clearly wrestling with his composure.
"Come on, I’m literally offering to pay. What do you want me to do?" He sighs deeply before turning his gaze back to you.
Your thoughts linger on his words. Pay. Your band could really use new equipment—Yoongi’s drum set is practically held together by sheer will power at this point. Yoongi and Taehyung have done so much for you; maybe you can survive Jungkook for just a week. Right?
A shiver runs down your spine as his dark eyes bore into yours. “Beg… on my knees?" He says it like a joke, but there’s a flicker of something desperate in his expression.
You smirk, tilting your head up at him. "That’s not a bad idea." You’ve already made up your mind to take his offer, but not without teasing him a little first.
His tongue presses into his cheek, his jaw visibly tightening. "You really want me to get on my knees and beg?"
You purse your lips, barely containing a laugh at his irritated expression. "God, no. Take a joke, dude."
“Ha, ha, very funny,” he replies, as you see his right eye twitch. “Anyway, will you help me or not?” He crosses his arms, shifting his weight in annoyance, the frustration clear on his face.
You heave a loud sigh. "You’re lucky I’m in a good mood today." You almost surprise yourself with your willingness to agree to this.
His face lights up as he realizes you are going to help him. "Thank you." He gives you a light pat on the head before walking towards the door.
"Uh, excuse me?" You raise an eyebrow at him. That’s it? Was he just going to leave with no other context?
He looks back at you cocking his head to the side, his hand already on the doorknob. "What?"
"Are there any terms and conditions I should be aware of?" You shift your weight from one leg to another, slightly uncomfortable and irritated.
He pauses, giving you a once-over before a smug smirk spreads across his face. “Don’t actually fall in love with me, alright?”
You wrinkle your nose at him, a look of pure disgust crossing your face. "Yeah, that’s pretty easy. Don't worry about that." Good to know he doesn't like you in that way, I guess.
He lets out a low chuckle, the sound smooth and a little too confident; he raises his hands in defense. "Hey, I'm just saying I’ve had girls fall in love with me for way less."
You roll your eyes, an annoyed scoff escaping your lips. “God, you’re such a prick. Let me out of the bathroom—now.” He opens the door and steps aside, motioning for you to go first. “Oh, wait. Hold on.”
Jungkook looks at you suspiciously, furrowing his eyebrows at you. "What is it now?" You take a piece of paper from your bag and write down your number.
“If you need me this week, here’s my number. And after the week is over, make sure to delete it, Mr. Boyfriend.” You hand him the slip of paper, blowing him a kiss in your usual goodbye fashion before turning and heading off to class.
His hand wraps around your wrist for the second time. “Hold on—I want to set some ground rules actually,” he snaps, clearly annoyed.
"Well, you can talk and walk then because you will make me late for class." You growl back.
“So, other than not falling in love with you, what other rules are there?” you hiss, rubbing your wrist in annoyance as he finally lets go. He has a bad habit of grabbing you. You take a mental note.
Jungkook holds up his fingers, counting off each rule as he lists them. “One: no falling in love with me, duh. Two: no doing anything too intimate—no kissing or anything, just holding hands and cuddling. Three: be a convincing ‘girlfriend’; pretend to be all lovey-dovey and stuff.” The way he sounds so confident that you might fall in love with him really pisses you off.
“Well, I also have some rules,” you say with a smirk, mimicking him as you list yours. “One: no falling in love with me. Two: you can only touch my hands, arms, and head; if you touch anywhere else, I’ll break your hand. Three: try not to be insufferable to be around.”
Jungkook’s eyes widen. “What the hell? I’m going to be insufferable? Don’t insult me like that! I’m charming to be around!”
You laugh, giving him a playful pat on the head. “Sure you are, sweetie.” Pausing in front of your classroom, you add, “See you later, Mr. Boyfriend.” You blow him a teasing kiss before heading inside.
“Yeah, yeah, I’ll text you later,” he grumbles. Glancing back, you catch him adjusting his hair with a mildly annoyed expression.
You sat through your first class, barely registering anything the professor said. It wasn’t because of your new fake boyfriend but the excitement about band practice with Yoongi and Taehyung after such a long break. This was your fourth time out of the hospital this year. Any surge of stress or excitement left you fainting. Ever since your parents passed a few years back, those intense emotions have felt like too much to handle. You just wanted to sing with your friends again, to feel free—even if only for a while—without worrying about what tomorrow might bring.
After several mind-numbing classes, you barely paid attention to, three o'clock finally arrived—band practice time. You practically bolted out of class, but of course, things couldn’t be that easy. You ran face-first into Jungkook’s chest. Glaring up at him while rubbing your nose, you huffed, “What the hell, dude?”
He looks down at you, flashing a smug grin and raising an eyebrow. “What? I just came to pick up my girlfriend after her classes were over.” He emphasizes girlfriend, making sure everyone nearby hears him.
Oh, for the love of—. You can practically feel your classmates’ eyes boring into you.
Realizing that the fake relationship is officially underway, you slip your arm through his, pulling it close to your chest. “Aw, that’s so sweet of you, baby!” you say, flashing him an exaggeratedly sweet smile. To your annoyance, his arm feels softer than you’d expected. Why does that irritate you more?
Jungkook glances down at you, trying and almost failing to hide a scoff at your sudden shift in tone. “Glad to see you’re taking this seriously,” he mutters, leaning down to whisper in your ear.
You give his arm a sharp pinch, making him flinch. “Let’s go, honey!” you say with a forced cheeriness, dragging him around the corner and away from the gawking eyes in the classroom. The moment you’re out of sight, your smile drops, and you scowl up at him. “Don’t ever surprise me like that again, Jungkook.”
He quickly pulls his arm free, rubbing the spot where you pinched him. “You know, if I’d known you were this mean, maybe I’d have asked someone else to play ‘girlfriend.’” He frowns, looking down at you with a mix of irritation and amusement.
“Maybe you should have done that, then,” you say, a smirk tugging at the corners of your lips, sweet as sugar but laced with sarcasm. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have band practice.” As you turn to leave, he grabs your wrist, pulling you back to face him. You glare at him, hissing, “You really have a bad habit of grabbing me.”
He quickly releases your wrist, holding his hands up in mock apology. “Sorry. I was just curious about your practice—I didn’t know you were into music, let alone in a band.” His eyes light up and glitter with excitement. His eyes light up with genuine excitement, and for a moment, you pause. Why does he seem so interested? But you don’t have time to unpack it.
“Yes, I am,” you reply coolly, stepping back. “And because of your little stunt, I’m going to be late. So, I’ll catch you later.”
You turn to walk away, but then pause, glancing over your shoulder with a narrowed gaze. “Don’t you dare follow me,” you warn, your tone sharp.
You make a few turns, and with each step, you glance back—Jungkook isn’t behind you. You let out a quiet sigh of relief before pushing open the door to the spare classroom. As soon as you step inside, the annoyed glares of your bandmates, Min Yoongi and Kim Taehyung, hit you. They're already looking at you like you’ve committed a crime for being late.
“Late, again,” Yoongi mutters, glancing from his watch back to you with an expression of mild disbelief. “You’re really going to be late on your first day back to practice? You have a bad habit of that.”
Taehyung groans loudly, throwing his head back in mock exasperation. “You’re late again! What is it with you and time?”
You wince, awkwardly rubbing the back of your neck. “Yeah, yeah, Yoongi. Thanks for the reminder this morning,” you reply with a roll of your eyes before giving Taehyung a playful glare. “And thanks for the moral support, Tae.”
You can’t help but laugh at their irritation. “Alright, alright, I swear, this time I’ve actually got a good reason.”
Yoongi scoffs, rolling his eyes. "What, what was so important that you were late for band practice?" His gaze is intense, a sharp contrast to the concern that’s barely hidden beneath his irritation. While his words are harsh, you know better than anyone that Yoongi could never truly be angry with you over something so small.
"Apparently, I have a boyfriend now." You smile, crossing your arms as you glance between both boys.
Taehyung and Yoongi exchange a look before turning back to you, both clearly confused. "You have a what?" they ask in unison.
You double over, laughing at their stunned expressions. “Jungkook is paying me to pretend to be his girlfriend for a week.”
They both stare at you in disbelief and after a beat, Taehyung finally breaks the silence. “So… he’s paying you to be his fake girlfriend?” he repeats, almost as if to confirm he heard you right.
"Yup! Now we can get some better equipment." You glance at Yoongi's shabby drum set with a raised eyebrow.
Your chest tightens, remembering why he’s stuck with that old kit in the first place. He had to quit his part-time job just to help you keep it together—your mess became his responsibility. I have to do something for him in return.
Yoongi sighs heavily, rubbing the bridge of his nose like he's already regretting being involved in this conversation. “Only you would agree to something as strange and weird as that. This better not blow up in your face,” he says, his voice a mix of exasperation and a hint of unspoken concern.
“Oh, please. Like you wouldn’t come running to save me if it came down to it.” You fold your arms dramatically and tilt your head with mock defiance. “You need your vocalist, after all.”
Yoongi snorts. "I’m just saying, this dude sounds like a creep."
"Oh, he definitely is. The most popular guy in school picks one of the only punk girls to pretend to be his girlfriend?” You laugh. “ AT LEAST I’m getting paid.”
Yoongi rolls his eyes and leans back, folding his arms as he drops onto the drum stool with a grunt. “Of course, you’re getting paid. That’s the only way you’d agree to pretend to be his girlfriend.” He drums his fingers on the edge of the kit, clearly irritated.
Taehyung blinks, shaking his head like he’s snapping out of a trance. "Wait, how much is he paying you?"
“Oh my god, I forgot to ask!” Your jaw drops, and you slap a hand to your forehead in disbelief. Of course, you forgot.
Yoongi sighs, mirroring your gesture with his own hand against his forehead. “Of course you did. I’m not even surprised. Did you at least establish any rules with him?”
“Obviously!” You roll your eyes, counting off on your fingers. “Rule one: he’s not allowed to fall in love with me. Rule two: he can only touch my hands, arms, and head. And rule three: he cannot, under any circumstances, be insufferable to be around.”
Taehyung and Yoongi exchange a wary glance; eyebrows raised, clearly questioning your sanity.
You let out a small huff. “His rules? I can’t fall for him; we’re keeping it strictly PG, and I actually have to convince people I’m a real girlfriend.” How am I supposed to even be convincing? He better have a plan.
"So, all that’s going to happen is you hold hands and… No kissing?" Yoongi’s voice is casual, but there’s a hint of tension as he asks, looking visibly relieved when you confirm it.
You cross your arms tightly over your chest, raising an eyebrow. "Hell no," you scoff, rolling your eyes for emphasis. "I’d rather die than kiss him!" You scrunch your face in disgust. "Plus, he can’t get all touchy either—he’s got clear boundaries: head, arms, and hands only."
Yoongi sighs, clearly relieved. "Well, thank god for that. But isn’t it gonna be weird for you? Pretending to be in a relationship with some popular ass guy?"
"Oh no, it’s totally weird!" You scoff, shaking your head as the memory of this morning’s interaction floods back. "I still can’t believe he told me not to fall in love with him. Like, are you kidding me? Fucking ridiculous."
Taehyung’s fingers still over the strings of his guitar for a moment before resuming, the sound soft and almost hesitant. His voice is quieter than usual. "What if you actually do fall in love, though?"
The room falls deathly silent. You and Yoongi both freeze mid-motion, your eyes snapping to Taehyung as though he’s just spoken some forbidden truth. "Are you serious?" Yoongi’s voice cuts through the stillness, sharp and disbelieving, but there’s a weight to it, a subtle threat of unease.
Taehyung leans back slightly, meeting your gaze with an unsettling steadiness. There’s no playful quirk of his lips, no teasing spark in his eyes like he usually has. "What? It happens," he says plainly, his tone disarmingly calm. "People fall in love when they least expect it."
A chill snakes down your spine, cold and unrelenting, rooting you to the spot. The blood drains from your face, leaving you lightheaded. "Don't make me sick, Tae," you snap, but your voice betrays you—lower and unsteady.
Yoongi shifts in his seat. His usual nonchalant expression falters, replaced by something harder to read—something taut and uncomfortable. He clears his throat, his voice rough and clipped as he tries to steer the moment back to safer ground. "Enough of this crap," he mutters, his tone almost forceful. "We have work to do. Let’s get focused."
The weight in the room lingers a moment longer, thick and suffocating, before the soft hum of Taehyung’s guitar strings eases back in. But the tension doesn’t dissipate entirely—it hangs there, unspoken and unresolved, like a shadow neither of you are ready to face.
You all drop the topic of Jungkook and dive into band practice. Hours fly by, and it isn’t until the fading light outside catches your eye that you realize how late it’s gotten. Yoongi and Taehyung start packing up their equipment, while you gulp down some water, trying to cool the dryness in your throat. "Good job today, guys!" you say, grinning.
Yoongi rolls his eyes as he slings his bag over his shoulder. "Yeah, yeah, you did good too, even though you were late—like always." He smirks, clearly waiting for your response.
You shoot him a playful glare. "I told you I had a good reason, didn’t I?"
Taehyung laughs, shaking his head. "Pretending to be in a fake relationship with the most popular guy in school is not a good enough reason to excuse being late to band practice."
You pout at Taehyung, exaggerating the quiver of your bottom lip. “I’m sorry. Could you ever forgive me?” You clasp your hands together, blinking up at him with wide, pleading eyes. Taehyung has always been the softer one with you, and you know exactly how to play your cards.
Taehyung immediately bursts into laughter, clutching his chest in mock pain. “How could I ever stay mad at you? You’re way too cute when you’re apologizing,” he says, grinning wide.
You can’t help but smile back, the warmth in his expression settling over you like a hug. I hope Tae knows how much he really means to me. He always knows how to brighten the mood, even when I probably don’t deserve it.
Yoongi snorts from behind his drum kit, his eyes narrowing as he leans back with his arms crossed. “Cute? More like manipulative,” he deadpans. “You’re always asking to be forgiven. Here’s an idea—just show up on time for once, and maybe we won’t have to keep forgiving you.”
“Hey!” You whirl on him, hands on your hips. “I said I was sorry! You’re so grumpy, Yoongi. I swear, you act like being two minutes late is a crime against humanity.”
“It’s never just two minutes,” Yoongi retorts, raising an eyebrow at you. “And being on time is the bare minimum.”
“Hardass,” Taehyung mutters, shaking his head as he smacks Yoongi lightly on the arm. “Cut her some slack. She had a long day. Besides, it’s not like you’ve never been late before.”
Yoongi lets out a heavy sigh, rubbing the bridge of his nose. “You two are impossible.”
You flash them both a radiant smile, stepping toward the door with a little bounce in your step. “I’ll try my best tomorrow,” you promise with faux sincerity, throwing a playful kiss over your shoulder as you reach for the handle. “Goodnight, boys!”
“Don’t trip on the way out!” Yoongi calls after you, shaking his head, but there’s a faint smirk tugging at the corners of his lips.
Once the door swings shut behind you, the room grows quiet, the faint echo of your laughter fading into the hallway. Taehyung’s playful demeanor softens, his fingers fidgeting with the pick in his hand. He glances at Yoongi, his voice lowering. “Do you think she’s okay?”
Yoongi looks at him, his expression unreadable for a moment. Then he lets out a slow exhale, running a hand through his hair. “I don’t know,” he admits, his tone quieter, heavier. “But you know how she is. She won’t say anything until it’s too late. She never does.”
Taehyung nods solemnly, a shadow of concern flickering in his eyes. “I just... I don’t want her to burn herself out. She’s already got enough going on without adding this whole thing with Jungkook.”
Yoongi leans forward, resting his elbows on his knees. “I’m worried, too, Tae. But you know her. Once she’s made up her mind, there’s no stopping her.”
They sit in silence for a moment, the weight of their shared concern hanging in the air. Finally, Yoongi pushes himself to his feet, grabbing his bag. “Come on. We can’t do much about it tonight. Let’s get out of here.”
Taehyung lingers for a moment longer, his gaze lingering on the door where you’d just disappeared, before slinging his guitar strap over his shoulder and following Yoongi out. The two of them walk out into the night, their unspoken worry trailing behind them like a shadow.
Once you arrive home, you start getting ready for bed. As you’re removing your makeup and slipping into your pajamas, your phone buzzes on the nightstand. After climbing into bed, you grab your phone and check the message.
Unknown number:
Hey. It's Jungkook.
You hesitate for a moment before saving his name and number in your contacts, then finally respond.
You:
ok
Before you can even lock your phone, another text comes through.
Jungkook:
Just wanted to make sure this is the right number lol 👍
You roll your eyes, setting your phone down as you start to drift off to sleep. But just as you begin to relax, another buzz from your phone jolts you awake. You groan and check it again.
Jungkook:
Wait, don’t leave me on read, I swear I have a good reason for texting at this late at night!
You:
What is your reason then?
He takes a moment longer to respond than usual, and just as you’re about to put your phone down, a new message pops up.
Jungkook:
I just wanted to talk to my 'girlfriend', can’t I do that? 🥴
You scoff at your phone, your thumb hovering over the screen as you debate whether or not to respond.
You:
well boyfriend if there isn’t anything to talk about then I’m going to bed
Jungkook:
But there is something to talk about, it’s about us 😏
You can physically feel yourself cringe at his message.
You:
what about us darling?
Jungkook:
We need to establish some more rules, there’s something we didn’t talk about this afternoon
You:
go on
Jungkook:
We never talked about public displays of affection. Hand holding is fine but we need to establish how much physical contact is gonna be allowed
You:
Why do we need to do PDA? I figured I would just meet your parents and then we are all good
Jungkook:
They tease me all the time for never seeing the same girl twice.
Jungkook:
They think something is wrong with me and I can’t keep a girl
You re-read his message a few times and think it over before finally responding.
You:
I thought this was for your parents not your friends
This time, his response takes longer. The text bubble pops up and disappears a few times before his message finally comes through.
Jungkook:
I mean yeah, but I need to show my friends also soooo, how’s a kiss on the cheek, holding hands, and having my arm around your shoulders?
You:
that’s fine but don’t get too carried away because i wasn’t joking about breaking your hand
Jungkook:
Wow you’re brutal, I’ll make sure to not do anything that’s too much for you, how could I possibly scare away my fake girlfriend, right? 😏
You groan and your fingers circle your keyboard a few times, frustrated, before you type out another message.
You:
I have a question for you boyfriend
Not even a second passes before he responds.
Jungkook:
Shoot
You:
Why did you pick the one punk girl in school to be your fake girlfriend?
Jungkook takes a while to respond, and just as you're about to lock your phone, it lights up again with his message.
Jungkook:
Well, you’re the only girl that’s attractive at this school that isn’t popular, plus, I’ve been lowkey obsessed with punk girls
You scrunch your face as if you just had a lemon shoved in your mouth.
You:
Gross.
He texts back immediately, his words seemingly laced with offense.
Jungkook:
What do you mean gross? Whats wrong with loving punk girls?
You’re done with the back-and-forth and decide to leave him on read. You lock your phone and set it down, only for it to light up again a few minutes later with another message from him.
Jungkook:
Oh hell no, don’t ignore me, don’t leave me of read again, I know you’re awake, answer me
Jungkook:
Don’t ignore me
Jungkook:
I know you’re awake
Jungkook:
I’ll continue to spam you if you don’t answer me
Jungkook:
punk
You can’t help but laugh at his irritation, finally deciding to send him one last message.
You:
I need my beauty rest, I’ll see you tomorrow 🖕
Jungkook:
Wow, that’s a mean response to your boyfriend, whatever happened to being all lovey dovey with me? 💔
You turn off his notifications and lock your phone, placing it face down on the table, finally allowing yourself to sleep.
Meanwhile, Jungkook is still sitting up in bed, hunched over his phone. He stares at the screen in disbelief. "Is she serious? How can she just stop responding to me?!" He continues to spam your phone with messages a few more times before he finally realizes you're no longer reading them. With a frustrated huff, he sends one final message.
Jungkook:
Whatever, goodnight 'girlfriend'

summary: you finally talk to jimin at the charity ball
word count: 1859
genre: bestfriend!jimin, college!au, bestfriends to lovers!au - fluff/angst
For the first time in years, Christmas was something you were looking forward to, and everyone was surprised to see you participating in the off-key caroling of Christmas songs with everyone. Normally, you would watch everyone decorate the tree as you sneak into the kitchen, eating the Christmas theme cookies, leaving none for Santa.
It was the first Christmas you would have with your father and Taehyung’s family ever since the passing of your mother. Though, your father still wanted to honor your mother, by hosting a charity ball on Christmas Eve, inviting everyone to spread Christmas cheer to each other.
People were free to donate gifts that would be given to the children at the orphanage and hospitals, and there was money being raised through some local performances which included Hobi’s dancing, Joon’s rapping, Yoongi’s piano solo, Jeongguk’s boxing, Taehyung’s stand up comedy and more. Jin helped the caterers by baking the peppermint cookies and some truffles. You had invited all their friends and families, bringing everyone you knew.
“Are you not doing anything?" Jin asked, standing next to up as you went to the bar to order some water. Unlike everyone else who was wearing a regular suit, Jin was wearing a black tuxedo with a bowtie that had candy canes on it. “Are we going to see you sing?”
“God no.” You laughed, grabbing the water from the counter. “If I did, we would not make any money for the kids.”
“I keep telling her that it is a shame that we do not get to hear her vocals tonight,” Taehyung joked, coming next to you. Your cousin was wearing a white suit with a glass of white wine in left his hand, trying to relax his nerves before his performance. His hair was slick back, looking like his father.
“Hey,” Tiffany greeted with a fake smile, not letting her mouth snap into a straight light. “I don’t mean to be the bearer of bad news, but did you guys invite Jimin?”
The smile on your face quickly faded, thinking you would have more time before you would have to see your best friend again.
“My parents might have because they obviously don’t know..” Taehyung’s voice trailed off.
“It’s okay,” you assured him, shrugging. “This is my first Christmas with my dad, and I am not going to let him or my feelings ruin that.”
“Well, how are you feeling?” Tiffany asked, a concerned look all over her face.
There were two words to describe everything happening all at once: confusing and overwhelming.
For a couple weeks, you had been basically grieving over the loss of your best friend, thinking he did not love you back, and that this whole relationship was one-sided. You gave yourself the time and distance from Jimin just so you weren’t reminded how he rested his head on yours when he wrapped his arms around you.
But after Jimin’s confession, there had been no time to process everything. It was the anniversary of your mother’s passing, and you were starting to rebuild a relationship with your father. You were distracted, and you wanted to keep it that way. You didn’t want to be alone in your thoughts, thinking about what you should do about the situation. “Fine.”
“You’re fine?” Taehyung’s eyebrow quirked up. He knows that you don’t show emotions besides the times you had grieved over your mother. But honestly, your cousin knew that if you severed your friendship with Jimin, it would be as big of a loss. “That’s it?”
You wanted to be fine.
It should not be a problem that you and your best friend have feelings for each other. The story could simply end happily ever after at that point. But you couldn’t understand how the boy that watched your mom’s favorite movie with you every year, lied about his feelings. How could he lie to you, knowing how much pain it caused? Why couldn’t he just pick you from the beginning? Did you really go through his mind when he chose someone else? Why now?
“Stop overthinking, you’re breaking your own heart,” Taehyung reminded you quietly, not letting anyone around you hear his comment. Even now at a complicated time, he was protecting your ego and taking care of you while being unbiased, and you were sure he did the same to Jimin. “Let’s get ready before the show starts.”
_____________
“Since it is running a little late, we are going to have Yoongi perform his sonatas. In the meantime, as we wrap up, we will be doing the gift exchange. Hopefully, you all drew and made your customized Christmas cards because those are important.” Your father laughs into the microphone as the audience gape at his announcement. “You all were given a number in the beginning, and you must find your missing match to exchange gifts and cards.”
“What number are you?” Tiffany asked, holding the number 57 in her right hand. In the background, you can hear Yoongi take a deep breath before starting, playing softly. “I hope it is not some loser like Jimin.”
“Tiffany!” You scolded, holding back a laugh. “You got to admit it that was funny,” Jin said causing Tiffany to nod her head in agreement. “I think Y/N’s Dad made sure our gifts and cards were going to be exchanged for the kids.”
“Where did you hear that?” Taehyung asked with a questionable look on his face, slightly raising one brow over the other. He looked down at his homemade card. It was a folded red paper with the front page having drawn an elf with green scribbly colored clothes with a text bubble with ‘Ho Ho Ho.’ Next to the elf, there was a poorly drawn old man which you assumed to be Santa, and the question, ‘Who are you calling a Ho?’ is above Santa’s red cap in a blue text bubble.
“You cannot give that to a kid.” You laughed and held up your simple white card to him that had a string of red and green Christmas ornaments with the text ‘Let’s hang at Christmas!’
“I think it will be fine,” he stated with a small look of worry on his face. “I have the number 5.”
“I have the number 7,” Jin and Hobi said simultaneously, then exchanging looks of excitement.
The two friends quickly exchanged boxes and cards, excited to see what had been inside the gift.
“Tae!” Taehyung’s younger sister screamed across the room loudly, letting everyone know who she was looking for. “Can you and Unnie look at the family group chat?!”
Looking over your shoulder, you see Taehyung pulling out his phone from the right back pocket of his pants. He unlocked his phone, clicking on his latest text notification.
[mom]: text us your number
[dad]: 7
“Oh you have the same number as my dad,” Tae mentioned to Tiffany. “They’re in the back somewhere.”
[brother]: 95
[sister]: 23
Your cousin texted your numbers to your family members. Right away, your aunt sent a reply.
[mom]: oh y/n, jimin has the same number as you! he just told us a couple of minutes ago that he was going to find you two!!
“There’s no fucking way, right?” You weren’t sure who Taehyung was asking. “Dude, the world must be against you or something.”
Tiffany flicked Tae’s head, making him wince and look at Tiffany with a confused look. She gave him an angry death glare. With his voice shaking, he said, “You know, Cousin, we can switch numbers.”
“Let’s be real, your mom probably somehow told him that me and him have the same number already.” You sighed. “There’s no use.”
You forced a smile, walking away, wanting to find your father before you had to exchange gifts. With a quick glance at the ballroom, you couldn’t find your father in the crowd of people up and rushing to others, trying to find their gifts. You get on the tip of your heels to get a better look, not wanting to go through the crowd and be accidentally pushed.
Across the room, Jimin was there, holding a white box in his hands, already staring at you with his dark brown eyes. Your heart dropped a bit, wondering how was it possible that the two of you would always find each other in a room full of strangers and chaotic noise.
The music stopped playing, and you could finally hear your cousin calling out your name.
“Wait.” Tiffany abruptly said. You knew they were behind you, but you didn’t dare look back. Without looking, you knew Tiffany was holding Taehyung’s wrist back, already seeing what was happening. “It’s the eye sex conversation talk again.”
Jimin took the first move, taking steps forward to go to you, not taking his eyes off yours. He was looking at you as if you were the only thing that mattered when the whole world was on fire. He was looking at you the way he always did, but more intensely.
When he’s finally in front of you, he released a sigh of relief, slightly giggling. “Hey.”
“Hey,” you whispered, not believing what was happening.
“I asked your father for his permission, and now I just really need yours.” He handed the box in front of you. “Open it.”
Taking the lid off, there was a soft fleece blanket, a blanket patterned with the animals from the Lorax. You knew he was waiting for you to look back at him, but you stared down at the box. The words how, why, what, and oh wanted to come out, but no sound came out when you parted your lips.
“When I said ‘just not like that,’ it was first to Taehyung’s mom when we were watching the movie and you were sleeping underneath the blanket,” he explained. “I asked your father to get the same number as you, to show you that I don’t want it to be like that. I want to be with you any day watching your mom’s favorite movie under the soft blankets, reminding you that you aren’t alone and that your mother isn’t forgotten.”
You looked up back at him. Tears were forming in his alluring eyes. You hold back a smile, wanting to laugh at the irony. He was looking at you the same way you looked at him the day he decided not to study abroad.
“Hurting you was the worst thing I did.”
You stood there frozen, wanting to say something, but you knew your words would come out incoherent, barely intelligible.
“You don’t have to say anything.” But Jimin read you like his favorite book, knowing every single line, reciting them out loud, letting the words live in his head rent-free. “I understand the trees.” He paused. “If you had known it was going to be me, would you still have made that card so friend-zoney?”
And there, you wrapped your arms around him, knowing you would never lose him ever again.
Perhaps the heartbreak of losing your mom could not be healed with time, but with the love of your life.

Authors note: This story is a little more personal than I usually write and I’m aware that some might relate. But I hope you enjoy.
A big thank you to @downbad4yoongi and @star-my for being my beta angels. 💜
To say the two of you were being loud was an understatement. Yours and Jimin’s usual unserious bickering always got louder the drunker you got. Thankfully, the group was in a private room this time, or else the whole restaurant would look at you the same way your waitress did every time she came into the room. Your friends either watched the both of you with the same look of amusement as they always did, or they did their best to ignore you.
Tonight's topic of discussion was whether or not Jimin should be your date to your company party in two days since the person you were originally supposed to go with backed out.
“Jimin, if I take you, then my whole work life will be just people asking me how I know The Park Jimin! I like my quiet work life. I don’t want people knowing I’m friends with one of the world's most famous models!”
Jimin put his hand over his heart, scrunched up his face like he was in pain, and sucked in a sharp breath. “Are you ashamed of me, Y/N? Have the past ten years of our friendship meant nothing?”
You leaned your head back and groaned in frustration before taking another shot of soju. This argument had been going in circles for almost thirty minutes now. “Jimin,” you took a deep breath before turning to face him, “I love you. You know that, right?” You bit the inside of your lip to stop the smile that wanted to show when he sniffled and wiped a nonexistent tear. “I’m not ashamed of you. You are one of my best friends, and I would do anything for you, but you know how I prefer to fly under the radar. If I show up with you, people won’t leave me alone. All I’d hear about is the handsome friend I have.”
“You think I’m handsome?” Jimin’s fake hurt turned into a victory grin.
“You’re such a pain in my ass!” You laughed, unable to control it anymore.
“$100 dollars, Taehyung.” Jimin reached across the table to collect his winnings.
“You bet against me, Tae?” Your eyebrow shot up as you ran your tongue across the inside of your cheek. “I guess you’ll be paying for your own dinner.”
Taehyung stopped mid-transaction. “Wait! What? No! Come one, Y/N! That’s not fair! It’s not my fault you fell into his trap again!”
Jimin snatched the money from his fingers. “He has a point, Y/N. It’s not his fault you lost.”
Your head snapped to Jimin, who had a cheeky grin on his face while he got his wallet out and put away his prize. “I should really kick your ass one of these days.”
He turned in your direction, rested one arm on the table, and looked you over. “Sounds like a fun time to me.”
You laughed while the temperature of your body soared, “Get away from me,” you stated, playfully shoving him away and grabbing your chopsticks.
“How have you two not fucked yet?” Jungkook piped in from across the table.
The piece of meat you’d been chewing on quickly found its way to your throat, causing you to choke.
“Damn, Jungkook.” Jimin chuckled, patting you on the back while Hoseok got you a glass of water and tried to calm his laughter so that he wouldn’t spill it. “You can’t just say shit like that out of nowhere.”
“We’ve all been wondering.” Jungkook pouted and shrugged his shoulders. “The two of you have so much sexual and non-sexual chemistry between you, it's only a matter of time before something happens.” He took in a sharp breath and turned his head slightly, taking both of your reactions in. “Unless it's already happened…”
You put up your finger stopping him, “Him and I,” you wiggled your finger pointing at you and Jimin. “Never have. Never will.”
“I wouldn’t say never, Y/N. One of these days you might.”
“I’m up for it if you are.” Jimin smiled and ran his tongue across his bottom lip out of the corner of your eyes.
“He’s not my type, Jungkook.”
“You don’t have a type, Y/N,” Yoongi yelled from the other end of the table. “You’ve always said you would give anyone a chance as long as they aren't assholes. And Jimin, although he’s a pain in the ass, he’s not an asshole.”
Jimin’s lips tightened and he nodded. “I am not an asshole.”
You sighed, annoyed at the conversation. “That is true, but I would also prefer someone taller or as tall as me.”
“I’m a whole two inches shorter! And that’s if we are both barefooted!” Jimin stated, before quickly realizing it wasn’t helping his case any.
The conversation was beginning to upset you. You’d always been self-conscious about your height, thanks to being teased about it growing up and the numerous times you were turned down by a guy. Did you find Jimin attractive? Yes, extremely attractive. But you promised yourself many years ago that you wouldn’t put yourself through the pain of rejection again, so that’s why you placed him in the friend zone the moment you met him.
“Two inches isn’t that bad, Y/N.”
You took a shot of soju and poured another while the table agreed with Yoongi. “Although he has legs for days, Jimin is still too short for me and that's that.” You quickly tilted your head back, taking the last shot, and slammed the glass on the table. “I’m going first. I have a lot of things to do tomorrow.” You stood up and collected your stuff. “Dinner is on me!” You waved your hand over your shoulder before shutting the door and going to the counter to pay.
The second you stepped outside, you rolled your neck and shoulders to help ease the tension that had started to build. You flagged down the first available taxi that you saw and got in. But as you were closing the door and giving him your destination, the door was stopped.
“What are you doing?” You asked Jimin, who had a hand on the top of it.
He didn’t say anything, just waved you over so that he could get in. The driver gave you a concerned look in the mirror, and you let him know it was fine. This wasn’t the first time one of the guys had ridden home with you, especially after a night of drinking.
The ride was silent except for the music coming from the radio. You stared out the window, listening to the sad love song that was playing. It was definitely not the kind of music you needed right now.
“Say something, Y/N.” Jimin finally spoke up after twenty minutes of silence.
You took your heavy head off the window and spoke to him, “Stop flirting with me.”
“Wh..what?” He chuckled.
Your head leaned back against the window, and your focus went back to the world outside. “I said stop flirting with me. It hurts too much when you do.” You chewed on the inside of your cheek to keep your tears at bay that threatened to spill out.
Silence fell over the car again, breaking only when you told the driver thank you. Jimin followed quietly behind you. He didn’t say anything as the two of you rode the elevator up to your apartment and entered. You didn’t have the energy to talk; all you wanted to do was get cleaned up and go to bed.
After you’d finished up and climbed under the covers, Jimin came into your room. He had done the same, changing into one of the spare sets of clothes the guys had kept in your extra room. He was the only one out of the group that slept in the king-size bed with you. Jimin had taken care of you one day while you were sick and accidentally fell asleep. When he woke up, he complained about how your bed was more comfortable than the one in the guest room and claimed the empty side as his.
You turned so that your back was facing him. You inwardly cursed yourself and let a silent tear fall when your body relaxed to his closeness and smell.
Jimin sighed and turned off the lamp on his side of the bed, “Goodnight, Y/N.”
・❥・
You’d just finished putting on your makeup when your phone pinged with a notification. It was a text message from Jimin telling you that he was on his way up to your apartment. You sighed and put down your makeup brush. You were way too busy right now for interruption. The buzzer to the door went off, and you double-checked your robe to make sure it was secure before you opened it. On the other side of the door stood a smiling Jimin, who was wearing a black tailored suit and had a bouquet of flowers in one hand.
Your eyes raked over him, taking in his perfectly styled hair to the tip of his Chelsea boots. “What are you all dressed up for?” you asked, folding your arms.
“I’m your date!” He proudly exclaimed, puffing out his chest.
“I never agreed to that,” you rolled your eyes and walked away.
“Careful, Y/N. You’ll scuff my shoes!”
You looked behind you and saw Jimin’s foot wedged between the door and the frame, stopping it from closing. “Well, that’s what you get for using your damn foot to stop the door.”
“Man, you’re in a mood today.”
You stopped at the couch and grabbed the garment bag resting on the arm that held your dress. “I don’t have time for this, Jimin. I still need to get dressed.” You jumped when the bouquet was suddenly put in front of your face.
“It’s a present from the guys. All six of them picked out a flower to say sorry about the dinner the other night.”
“What about you?” you lifted an eyebrow and took the bouquet.
“There’s no better present than me!” He sat down on the couch and stretched out his arms across the back. “I am all yours tonight. I promise to be a gentleman and stay by your side like a good date.”
Jimin pouted when you didn’t argue. His eyes stayed on you and watched you walk away. When you emerged from your room twenty minutes later, his heart stopped, and his breath hitched. You looked beautiful. He had never seen you dressed up like this before. The black dress was tight, putting all your curves on display, while the high neckline perfectly showed off your clavicle. The long sleeves helped to keep you covered until the dress ended mid-thigh, showing off your well-toned legs. He’d be lying if he said he hadn’t ever thought about them in ways that would make you blush. You had joked a few times, saying that he had legs for days, but yours really did go on for days. When you stopped to use the mirror in the corner of the living room so that you could put your earrings in, Jimin nearly slid off the couch. The dress was backless, stopping just above your bottom.
“Jimin?”
“I’m sorry. Did you need something?” He asked, snapping out of his thoughts.
“I asked if you could help me with my necklace.”
“Yeah, sure.” Jimin got off the couch and walked over to you. The heels you had on only added an inch or two to your height. You weren’t a fan of wearing heels that made you too much taller than normal. He knew it was because you didn’t want to stick out more than you already did. Your height was one of your biggest insecurities; you liked to pretend that it wasn’t, but he knew.
You turned to face him after he’d finished. “Do I look that bad?”
“What? No!” Jimin blinked rapidly and shook his head. “You look amazing! I’ve just never seen you in something like this before. It’s taking me a bit to get used to it.”
You ran your hands over your dress and pulled the skirt down some more. “I wanted to try something new. But I feel almost naked. I should go put something else on. I’m not mentally prepared for the attention this dress might come with.”
“No, you don’t!” Jimin grabbed your arm, stopping you from leaving to go change. “We don’t have time for that!” He kept a hold of your arm while he walked to the closet by the front door. “We just need to find…” He trailed off while he sorted through the coats. “Ah! Here we go! I knew I’d left it here.” He pulled out and shook out a black trench coat. “It’s unisex, so it will work perfectly.”
“Are you sure? Isn’t this the jacket you got from a photoshoot? It’s pretty expensive.”
Jimin hummed and helped you put it on, “I’m sure. It will keep you warm, and it will keep random men from staring at you while we go outside to the car.”
・❥・
The two of you were currently sitting in the back of the car, laughing and chatting about the happenings of your company party while Jimin’s personal driver drove. Jimin did just as he said he would and stayed by your side for the most part.
“I gave SunHee your phone number, by the way.” You laughed when his face scrunched up in disgust when you mentioned your boss's secretary's name. The woman had practically bulldozed everyone down when she saw you and Jimin walk through the door. Sunhee was one of the least liked people in the office; she was the head secretary, and she let everyone know it.
Jimin’s body shook as he remembered the way she kept putting her hands on him while she flirted. “God, I hope you’re joking. I can’t deal with any more crazy stalkers in my life.”
“I’m only joking. I couldn’t do that to you or me. I mean, if you two started dating, that means I’d have to see her outside of work.” This time, it was your face that scrunched up in disgust.
“That’s good because I told her we were dating.”
“You didn’t,” your laughter stopped when you saw the serious look on his face. “You didn’t, Jimin…Jimin. Please tell me you are joking.”
“What was I supposed to do? She kept trying to get me to leave with her. At one point, she even tried to get me into the supply closet!”
You groaned in frustration and let your head fall to the window. “Monday is going to be hell.”
Jimin patted you on the shoulder, “That’s what you get for leaving us alone at the table.”
“I had to pee,” you groaned. “Why did they have to pick a place that was so far away?” You weren’t looking for an answer, but he replied anyway.
“We still have about forty minutes until we get to your apartment. My place is closer if you want to just stay there.”
You turned your head and glared at him. “What makes you think that this date went well enough for me to go home with you?”
Jimin copied your earlier move and looked out the window. “I just thought you’d want to get out of those shoes and into some comfortable clothing as soon as possible. Plus, I live close to your favorite fried chicken restaurant.”
Your lips and eyebrows tightened while you thought. Once you’d come to a decision, you nodded and got the driver's attention. “To Jimin’s house, please. Also, can we stop to get chicken, please?”
・❥・
Jimin laughed while he poured each of you a glass of beer. You looked so cute sitting there in his shirt and a pair of his boxers, wiggling as you chewed on your food across the coffee table from him.
“I think that’s your twelfth piece.” He joked.
“I think you should shut up.” You replied in a singsongy voice.
Jimin sat back and watched you as he drank. His mind was swirling with questions that he needed answers to. “Tonight went pretty well, didn’t it?”
“Except for the random fan girls, yes. I’d say it did.” You wiped your hands on the napkin and took a drink.
“Is two inches really that big of a deal?”
You were mid-drink when your confused eyes looked at him. “I guess that depends on the location of the two inches you’re lacking in.” You smirked.
“I am not lacking there, you perv,” he laughed.
You shrugged your shoulders. “If you say so.”
“I was talking about my height, Y/N.”
“To some women, it might not,” you shrugged
“I’m not talking about some women. I’m talking about you.”
You were hunched over with your mouth hung open pre-bite. Your eyes looked up at him. He was being serious. Now the question was, did you want to have this conversation with him? Did you have enough liquid courage to let everything out in the open?
Jimin sat there on his side of the table, watching you. The expression on his face told you that he wasn’t going to give up until you answered him.
You straightened up and downed your half-full glass of beer. “Alright, let's have this conversation,” you sighed. “To me, it is. I don’t want it to be, but it is. I can’t tell you how many times I have been turned down because of my height or been broken up with because the guy I was dating couldn’t handle the rude comments. Not to mention all the names I was called. So yes, for me, two inches does matter.”
“It doesn’t to me.”
“Jimin…” Your words trailed off when he moved the table to the side so that he could scoot closer to you.
“Y/N, I understand that you are worried about our height difference. I would be lying if I said I hadn’t thought about it. But I realize I don’t care. People are going to make comments because they are assholes. All that matters to me is that I have you by my side.” You looked down at your hand, suddenly fascinated by your nails, while he continued. “So wear your heels, take pride in your height, and be my girlfriend.”
You sat there for a few minutes, just taking in the words that he said. Two inches didn’t look like that big of a deal to most people, but to you, it was. Could you do the same as him and push your insecurities aside one last time?
“Oh my god. Did I read things wrong? Are you not attracted to me? Did I just make a total fool of myself?”
Your head quickly snapped up. “No, it’s not that!”
“So you do think I’m attractive?”
“Yes, very. I just…I umm. Fuck. Okay.” The words came out even though you hadn’t intended them to.
“Okay?” The excitement he was feeling became visible on his face.
“We can give it a try.”
He leaped up from his seated position and hugged you. “You know what’s nice about us sitting down?”
“What?”
Jimin pulled back a little, “Neither of us has to adjust our heights to kiss.”
Before you could say anything, Jimin put his lips on yours. Your body instantly melted, and your eyes fluttered close.
For a moment, you felt as if you were floating before you felt the floor against your back. After that, it didn't take much longer for the simple kiss to turn into a full-blown make-out session. The two of you in your own little world, taking each other in with your lips and hands.
Jimin’s apartment filled with the sound of your combined moans when you wrapped your legs around him, effectively trapping him against you. The hunger you’d both had trapped inside of you for years was threatening to take over with the movement of his hips and the touch of your skin on his.
The sound of Jimin’s phone going off snapped both of you out of your lust-filled haze. Jimin slowly lifted himself away from you. “I didn't mean for it to go that far.” He said, just as out of breath as you were. “I was just hoping for a little kiss. Not a…”
“Full-blown dry hump session?” you laughed.
“Yeah, that. Although I’m not complaining, I think we should stop for now.” He turned and glared at his phone when it went off again. Jimin pouted and looked back at you. “I hate to say this, but I’m going to need you to unwrap me from your beautiful legs so that I can yell at whoever is blowing up my phone.”
Before you could reply, both of your heads snapped in the direction of the front door when you heard the sound of his passcode being entered. “Fuck!” the two of you said in unison.
Jimin had just gotten himself straightened out, and you had just gotten yourself into the bathroom when the entryway was filled with the sound of your friends.
“See, I told you they’d be here!” Seokjin’s voice echoed. “Jimin! Where are you? Oh, you’re right there.” He laughed when he found Jimin standing in the front room with a confused look on his face.
“Where’s, Y/N?” Namjoon asked, walking around the older man with bags full of food.
“I was in the bathroom.” Before you knew it, Taehyung and Jungkook were standing next to you with their eyes squinted.
“Something’s different…” the youngest of the two spoke as they began to circle you.
“What the hell are you guys doing?” you nervously laughed.
“Something feels off. Don’t you think, Jungkook?”
“There’s definitely something.”
“Oh will you two cut it out!” Yoongi yelled while he and the other men watched the weirdness going on a few feet away. “We came here to eat, drink, and let them tell us about the party.”
“Is that a hickey?!”
Everyone else in the room froze except for you, who quickly covered your neck with your hands and looked at Jimin.
“What did you do?” Taehyung looked at Jimin, whose face was turning red. “Jimin? Why does Y/N have a hickey on her lower neck?”
Jimin’s mouth opened and shut a few times while he tried to figure out how to respond. “What makes you think I did something?” he asked defensively. “Who's to say she didn’t do it?”
“What the hell, Jimin? I didn’t give myself a hickey!”
“Well, I didn’t give it to you! My phone interrupted us before I…” Jimin stopped talking and glared at the younger two who were smiling from ear to ear.
“There’s no hickey, Y/N.” Jungkook put an arm around your shoulder. “But Jimin’s dress shirt is crooked.”
You elbowed him in the side and slapped Taehyung on the arm. “Assholes! The both of you are assholes.” You slid out from under Jungkook’s arm and went to the kitchen where Namjoon and Hoseok were standing, trying their best not to laugh.
“Welp,” Yoongi clapped loudly, breaking up the staring contest between the three youngest. “Guess that means we are going to eat, drink, and talk about the party along with whatever the hell we interrupted.”
You groaned and let your torso fall to the island to hide your embarrassed face. This was not at all how you saw your night going. “Get off the island, Y/N,” Jimin said, pulling you up and into his chest. “I take full responsibility and won't let them interrogate you too much.”
Your eyes snapped back to Taehyung and Jungkook when you heard ‘aws’ coming from them. “I really don’t like you two right now! I knew I should’ve slammed the door on your damn foot.” You couldn’t help but laugh when Jimin started laughing behind you.
“Does that mean I’m finally going to get that ass-kicking you promised?”
“Get away from me.” You laughed harder and gently pushed Jimin away.
“So you and the pain in the ass, huh?” Yoongi asked when you joined him and Seokjin at the table.
“Yep, me and the pain in the ass.”
Jimin was different from the other guys you’d had a crush on. Looking back, you could see that now. He nor either one of your friends had made you feel like a freak for your height. And he was right. Those who did have a problem with it were assholes. The thought of being with Jimin made you feel anxious, but strangely, in a good way.

The fire keeps everyone warm and creates a calm atmosphere around you. It's sad, this is your last night here and you wish you could stay longer. Your camping trip is slowly coming to an end, and all you can do is fully enjoy it while it lasts. And you do, by sipping beer and talking to Jimin who's sitting beside you. From the corner of your eyes, there's Jungkook rummaging through containers full of snacks as he contemplates which one to choose. And he's not alone, there's Kiko standing beside him and laughing at something he says when a bunny grin appears on his face.
"You don't mind?" Jimin speaks up, snapping you out of your thoughts and observation. You realize you weren't listening to him and got distracted, that's why an apologetic smile appears on your face before your brows frown in confusion.
"Mind what?" you ask, seeing Jimin's eyes shifting somewhere over your shoulder and you know what he's looking at the moment, he looks back at you.
"Them talking." he answers carefully, looking at you with the same pitiful look Hoseok gave you during your hike.
"Why would I? Just because she's his ex, it doesn't mean he can't talk to her. He's a free human, I'm in no place to tell him whom he can talk to or can't." you shrug carelessly, reaching for the beer can as you take another sip.
"Yeah, I know that... I guess, I'm just surprised. You're right here and he's there talking to her, staring at her and—" he stops himself before he can say something else, his eyes leaving your face as he looks at the mentioned couple. "Never mind." he gives you a smile, a weak one that you pretend to ignore.
In times like these, you wish you could tell him the truth. To tell him that he doesn't have to worry about your feelings, or the fact Jungkook is there staring at her with heart eyes and having the time of his life, because it's not real. Your relationship is not real and it's all pretended. But you can't, you promised that to Jungkook and even though, sometimes you get the urge of wanting to tell someone close, you don't. Maybe it's that little knowing feeling that you'd feel embarrassed. Although Jimin isn't a judging person, you can imagine his reaction perfectly. He'd probably scream something like 'Are you guys stupid?!'
No matter what goes through Jimin's mind, he decides not to say it out loud and puts his arms over your shoulders, hugging you and pulling you closer to him.
"I've no idea who bought this beer, but it tastes like piss." he whispers into your ear, causing you to erupt in laughter while he joins you.
From the corner of your eyes, you notice Jungkook and Kiko walking away without saying a single word. Everyone seems to be too busy noticing that, but you do.
"Let's play UNO!" Hoseok says, already pulling out cards from one of his bags while Taehyung's groan resounds.
"I never understand the rules." he whines, but still straightens himself to prepare for the game.
While everyone starts to play the card game, Jungkook and Kiko are out of everyone's sight, slowly walking around the lake.
"How's your ankle? Does it still hurt?" Jungkook asks, not hiding his worry while it makes her smile. She's not subtle, Jungkook notices it and his heart starts to do little jumps at that.
"No, it's fine. Thank you for taking care of me." She thanks him.
"Always," he whispers, but too audibly to her ears and he quickly coughs. "I barely did anything, I just carried you."
"That's a lot and I appreciate it," she tells him, "I'm sorry if me coming here is weird or uncomfortable." she blurts out, causing Jungkook to stop as he stares at her with widened eyes.
"What are you talking about?" he frowns in confusion.
Kiko sighs, stopping as well as she tucks a strand of hair behind her ear. "You and Y/N are dating right now, and here you are, taking care of me. I don't want to cause any trouble, Kookie."
That freaking nickname makes his heart jump again and he's so close to hugging her. Oh fuck, what would he do to hug her again.
"You're not causing any trouble," he says quickly, shaking his head. "We are both fine with you being here. I'm glad you're here."
"You are?" she raises her brows in shock.
"Of course," he nods, "You know... I don't hate you. I could never hate you, no matter how our relationship ended." he says, although the mention of their relationship makes his stomach clench uncomfortably.
This can't be the end. No, he can't lose her. But he still forces those words out of his mouth, silently waiting and watching closely her reaction. She sucks in a breath, looking away almost shamelessly and it sparks interest in Jungkook, not the good kind though. It's because he knows there's something more to her reaction and the whole situation.
"You probably should." she mutters, letting out a chuckle that's nothing but fake and forced. It pains him to see her this way, so broken and guilty.
"What? Hate you? Impossible." Jungkook scoffs, staring into her eyes to let her know that he means it.
Despite her saddened gaze, Kiko forces herself to smile. "That's good to know." she chuckles, nibbling on her bottom lip nervously.
"Kik," he mutters, her eyes snapping from her dirty sneakers to his.
He can see how much that nickname affects her. It's not the same when Hoseok or any of her friends call her that. When she hears Jungkook say it, it's like nobody calls her that and it's the most important and beautiful word at the same time. And yet, it's just a simple nickname.
"I know you said you needed some time for yourself, but I don't believe that."
"Kookie—"
"No, let me finish please," he sighs, pleading with her with his doe eyes that makes her shut up and listen to him. "I know it's not the real reason why you broke up with me."
"It is!" she exclaims, growing nervous and unnecessarily defensive which Jungkook recognizes immediately.
"Hoseok told me, Kiko." he sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose. "He told me."
"What?" she breathes out, her face paling in the brightest shade of white and even he can notice it in such darkness. She feels like she's about to faint any second.
"Well, he didn't tell me the reason. Actually, he didn't even tell me himself, I kind of figured there's something more to this. All he said is that it's not his place to tell me anything and I respect that. He's a great friend, but I deserve to know the truth. Don't you think?"
She stands frozen, barely blinking before she slowly nods. "You do, but you'll hate me." she whispers, her eyes filling with tears while Jungkook's ones widen and he swears he can feel his heart crack.
"I told you, I could never hate you," he tells her, assuring her but still, it doesn't assure her and she scoffs under her breath as she sniffles. "I'm sure it's something we can fix."
Her face looks even more broken after he says it and he almost whines at the helplessness he feels.
"Unfortunately, it's not. And you'll hate me once you find out." she sniffles, holding back her tears.
Jungkook doesn't hesitate, he moves fast and before Kiko can realize, he's hugging her tightly. Her arms wrap around his frame after a moment of realization, burying her face into his chest as she takes a sniff of his scent. His cheek is pressed against the top of her head, closing his eyes when his heart feels whole again. He missed this so fucking much.
He wants to enjoy this feeling, and he really does, until his head starts to prevail over his heart and all those predictions come back to life. But even then, he's not opening his mouth nor moving away from her.
Just a little longer, he thinks before they both part at the same time but still stay in close proximity.
She recognizes that look, the saddened one as he's about to say something that might break his or her heart but she can't stop him. She's been practically lying to him, because she didn't add another reason why she broke up with him when Jungkook asked. Although, she really needed some time for herself. To learn how to live with that guilt she's been carrying for a couple of months.
"Have you cheated on me?" he asks, watching her mouth open in shock before she quickly gets a grip of herself.
She's silent, avoiding his eyes as she stares at the darkened lake instead. He sees the wheels running in her mind and decides to encourage her to tell him the truth, even if it's going to break his heart all over again.
"You can tell me, I'm not going to hate you." he reminds her.
How could she think he could ever hate her?
Sighing, she closes her eyes for a brief moment before she looks at Jungkook. "Yes." she whispers, causing him to freeze in place.
It was just a wild guess, something that's been bothering his mind for a couple of weeks. But her saying it, admitting that, just breaks him all over again and he literally freezes at her words. With worried eyes, she calls out his name but all he can hear is the one and simple word she said. She just confirmed something he feared of, he didn't think it could be true. You said she wouldn't do it.
"Jung—"
"Who?" he asks in a low tone, embracing herself to look into her teary eyes.
"Jung—"
"Who?" he asks, much broken this time and she sobs, shaking her head. "Was it Hoseok?"
Her eyes widen and she starts to shake her head abruptly, holding onto Jungkook for her dear life. "Jungkook, please!"
She's begging him to stop, he doesn't need to know more. It'll only hurt him even more.
"Just tell me." he says deeply, voice shaking while he remains to keep his face neutral.
"No, of course not! Hoseok is my best friend!" she exclaims, shaking her head as if the idea is completely ridiculous. "I'm so sorry, Jungkook." she sniffles again, tears rolling down her cheeks.
"Who was it then?" he still presses, hurting himself even more and Kiko sees that. But she also knows he won't stop bringing it up until she answers him.
So with a deep sigh, she looks on the ground not willing to look into Jungkook's eyes as her velvety but shaky voice resounds.
"You don't know him." she mumbles, shutting her eyes like she's the one who got so hurt. Like she's the one who just found out the love of her life cheated.
"What have I done? Was I not good enough of a boyfriend?"
It's unbelievable how much control Jungkook has over his features and attitude, because he barely reacts. It's like he's numb to everything right now.
"You were perfect."
"Then why would you ever cheat on me?" he whispers, clenching his jaw to prevent himself from crying.
"I-it was a mistake, I'd never do it again. I regret it and I'll have to live with it for the rest of my life. You've to believe me, Jungkook." she begs, but she's met with silence and numb Jungkook.
"T-that's why I broke up with you. I couldn't just look you in the eyes and pretend everything's okay." Her voice shivers as she gulps down the huge lump in her throat.
"You should've told me, maybe we could work it out," he says pathetically.
"What? Would you still want to be with me after I told you that? Jungkook, listen to yourself. It'd be torture for you." she scoffs, although it's completely sad.
"Maybe, but that's how much I love you." he says, not saying anything further because he wants to spill his heart out. He wants to tell her that maybe, just maybe, he would look past that and try to pretend like nothing happened. That's how much he loves her, he's willing to act like she hasn't broken his heart — as long as he gets to have her by his side.
She seems to be taken back for a moment, replaying his words in her mind and wondering if it was just a slit up.
"I'm sorry I broke you, that was never my intention. But I see that you're better without me," he scoffs and she shakes her head, "No, you are. You don't need me, you don't need my love,"
Oh, how wrong she is.
"You've Y/N now. She's a wonderful woman and she's the only one who can love you like I do."
He scoffs, almost bitterly laughing at her words. This is so wrong. She thinks you two are really dating, when in reality it's all an act and his way of winning her heart back. His mind is all over the place and he's not sure what he wants anymore. He needs to sit down and think it through without anyone by his side.
"If I was fine with," he gulps, "If I was fine with... what happened,"
He can't bring himself to actually say those words out loud and it pains Kiko, because she's the one who messed him up. However, she keeps her head low and listens to him.
"Would you still be with me?"
She opens her mouth, snapping her eyes towards him as she stares at him. Is he insane? Would he really be fine with it?
"I—"
"Just answer honestly. Do you love me?"
"I don't think it's appropriate to express my feelings when you've a girlfriend, Jungkook. Don't break any heart like I did, you're so much better than I am." she pleads with him, but he only raises a brow at her.
All he cares about now is for her to answer his question. He needs it, he needs it so he can think it through and decide what's best for him.
"Do you love me?" he asks her slowly, keeping his tone low and eyes focused on hers.
Her pupils shake with nervousness, while her bottom lip shivers almost as if she was scared to answer honestly. Jungkook's doe eyes plead her, showing that there's nothing to be scared about.
"I do," she whispers, "I love you, but you deserve someone better."
"That's up to me," he tells her, turning around before he lets out a huge sigh. "Let's go back, I need some time to think." he mutters, not bothering to look back if she's following him but the quiet rustling of grass behind him tells him that she is.
"...so tell me, what's this boring person's job?" Namjoon asks, sipping on the beer as he adjusts the buckle hat covering his soft blond hair.
The fire still keeps you warm, although the little amount of beer flowing inside your system helps too. You've managed to make yourself relax, bonding with everyone much more until some more heated theme appeared to be the center of attention. Something, that you and Namjoon weren't part of so naturally, he sat down next to you and started to get to know you more.
The topics of your conversations haven't been that serious, it's actually very nice and light talk with someone you're getting to know. Namjoon is an interesting person with great opinions close to yours, even he can make you speechless with the choice of his words and how artistic he seems to be without even trying. And, that he's really clumsy and managed to knock Jimin's beer and Taehyung's soju, plus he tore off one of Hoseok's cards. That's when everyone decided it's time to finish the game, Taehyung's whining about how he doesn't understand the rules definitely helped.
You don't know why, but in a way Namjoon appears to you as mysterious but he's been nothing but very honest and open. He owns a book store where he holds reading sessions every Sunday where customers can recommend their favorite books and hold a conversation with everyone that decides to visit and be a part of their session. There is always a special guest, usually a writer, who openly converses with readers and customers. The writers can take this chance as a self-promotion but as Namjoon said, most of them are just passionate about writing and want to share their journey and story with everyone. Plus, he admitted that he's writing his own book but he's not sure if it'll ever get published. He didn't give you any more details, insisting on keeping it to himself for now and you respect that.
One fact you weren't surprised to hear, is that Namjoon has a girlfriend. She was supposed to be here, but according to Namjoon's words she's visiting her parents over the weekend. You're sure she's just as lovely as he is.
"I'm working in a modeling agency." you answer, chuckling when you see his big eyes.
"You're a model?"
"God, no. I'm, as you could say, a person for everything. Over the few months I worked there, I think I'm doing at least three positions I shouldn't be. My job is to set up dates of photoshoots, making sure everything would go as planned and as smoothly as possible. Oh, once I even had to try on some clothes because the model who was supposed to wear it, couldn't come to fittings. That's the closest I'd ever get to modeling," you snort, "But I don't mind it, it's good and it pays well."
Namjoon stares at you with a mere bewilderment, silently praising you for working so much. Not many people could handle this kind of job and responsibility. Sure, he has his own shop but to him, it feels like you're overworking yourself.
"Well, the fact that you can fit into clothes for models says a lot. Doesn't that make you a model?" he teases you, causing you to snort in response.
"Sometimes I barely fit into those tiny clothes. But no one else wants to do it." you shrug, explaining how it really is.
Your measurements are definitely not model-like. Even nowadays the industry tries to bring more curvy models, it's still not perfect and needs a lot of work, so women with different types of bodies can feel beautiful and normal. Not being judged by their weight or body type.
"That just shows how good of a person you are." he says with a smile, your lips stretching to a similar one.
Maybe he's just joking or saying it lightly, not putting that much thought into his words but still, it makes you happy and emotional at the same time. It's nice to hear such a thing, especially in today's world.
"Ah, stop it!" you giggle, nudging his shoulders as he laughs with you, exclaiming 'It's true!'
You're completely unaware of someone else's presence but that's until your laughter dies down and Namjoon's eyes trail somewhere in the distance. He coughs, almost awkwardly before he slightly pushes himself away from you, although he never invaded your personal space or anything close to it. You follow his vision, seeing Jungkook staring at the both of you before he looks away. Even that brief moment of the weird expression on his face makes you panic.
Something's wrong.
"Excuse me," you mutter, your eyes still locked onto Jungkook who casually reaches towards a beer fan as gulps down almost all of it. "I just need to talk to Jungkook." you smile, glancing at Namjoon who just nods and doesn't question the sudden change in the air.
For sure, he noticed your mood shifting and attention focused on your best friend, but he doesn't question it. Namjoon's smart, he's probably thinking something but he's keeping it to himself. Giving him one of your weak smiles, you make your way over to Jungkook who stands a few meters away from everyone as he holds the beer can in his hand. The other one is hidden in the pocket of his sweatpants while he keeps staring ahead of him with a clenched jaw.
"Hey," you call out, but he barely reacts. You know he must've seen you coming towards him from the corner of his eyes, but damn, it still shocks you that he ignores you. "Are you okay, Kook?" you ask him carefully, eyeing his slumped figure.
"Why don't you go back to giggling with Namjoon, would you?" he barks, your brows shooting to your hairline as you stare at him before you let out a weak chuckle.
"Ouch, who hurt you?" you joke, but apparently your best friend doesn't find it funny and he explodes.
"I'm not in the mood, Y/N." he speaks dryly, obviously not in the mood for talking to you.
Y/N, okay he is pissed off.
"I can see that," you snort, "But I'm here if you need to talk. Whatever happened—"
"For fucks sake, just leave me alone. Go back to Namjoon." he spits and you gape at him with narrowed eyes.
"Why are you so pissed off? Why are you even bringing Namjoon into this?" you ask in disbelief, but all you can see is his clenching his jaw even more. "Don't tell me you're jealous." you scoff, joking but he doesn't seem to take it as a joke when he glares at you.
Your heart jumps at the look he's giving you. He has never looked so angry at you. This is not your Jungkook.
"I'm not," he decides to clarify with an attitude in his tone, "But you're supposed to be my girlfriend and here you are giggling with some other guy. How does that make me look? How does that make us look?"
And you laugh. You actually laugh at him before you shake your head. "Is that what's bothering you? I don't know about you, but you're the one who sneaked out with his ex-girlfriend to God knows where. So, how does that make me look, huh?" you snap, seeing his eyes widen for a quick second before he's back to glaring at you.
"I didn't sneak out for fucks sake," he mutters, although doesn't protest further. "I just need some time alone."
He's pushing you away, you realize. And you're not the problem here. Something happened between him and Kiko, and he's obviously not ready to tell you and you're not going to force him to open up to you. He knows very well that you're here for him, but you're not going to remind him when he's acting this way. Underneath that layer of anger, you see his true and hidden emotion. He's hurt.
You're trying to look for Kiko, wondering if she's in the similar state like Jungkook is. You're met with a sight of Hoseok hugging her closely, almost hidden behind one of the tents. It's too dark to tell what they're doing, but from what you can see it seems like Hoseok is comforting Kiko.
Everyone's too busy to notice the atmosphere that flies in the air, nor Jungkook's and Kiko's state. They're too drunk and preoccupied with screaming drunken nonsense. The only one who seems to notice this is Namjoon but he respects everyone's privacy and preoccupies himself with staring into his phone.
"Okay," you whisper, shoulders dropping in defeat. "Whenever you want to talk, I'm here." you tell him and give him the space he so desperately wants. You're not sure whether he needs it, though.
If this was him during their breakup, possibly even worse, you've no idea what Taehyung and Jimin did to make him feel better.
That night, you're sleeping in the tent while slightly shivering from the cold, despite the fact that you're wearing at least three layers of clothing and that you're completely nestled in your sleep bag. Also, that night Jungkook doesn't pull you closer nor warms you up.

Fandom: BTS Pairing: Park Jimin x OC (Amelia) Genre: Fluff/Angst Word Count: 1.7k Words Warning: Drinking, foul language, mention of kiss, this chapter doesn’t deal with any major triggering issues. Note: (18+) Additional chapters contain heavy angst and sensitive topics. If you can’t handle problematic issues, I advise you to not read any further.
Summary: When Amelia and her bestie have an encounter with the duo (JiKook), they seem to develop a love and hate kinda relationship...
Part 1 - Part 2 - More to Come
Are we doing business? Or do you hate me? - Danger by BTS
“Do you want a drink?” I asked.
“I would rather have another ice cream.” Tara replied.
I rolled my eyes, “Do you even eat anything other than that?”
Tara was my best friend since grade two. We had our ups and downs, but were never separated permanently until Tara decided to live in the city to attend college. But whenever she came back to town we would hangout like we were kids again. This time, she came to visit the seasonal festival and I was determined to have the best night of my life.
I paid for the snacks and added to the stall keeper, “We’ll have ice cream and Cheetos too.”
“Two bottles of beer, please.” I heard someone beside me. We both looked at each other at once and I wished I didn’t have.
“Hey! Crybaby! How are you? Oh, hi there, Tara! Didn’t know you were in town too. So, you girls were having a little get together or something?”
Yes! It was no other than Jeon Jungkook. Just looking at him made me want to punch his face. I put on a fake smile over my gritted teeth and spoke rather mockingly, “How are you, big teeth?”
Jungkook chuckled and replied, “The bunny’s doing great. Thank you.”
“And so are the Barbies.” Tara snapped before pulling me away.
“Hey! Wait for me.” Jungkook called. We saw him taking his beers and paying hurriedly before sprinting towards our direction.
“Is he serious, right now?” Tara whispered to me in annoyance.
Jungkook whined, “C’mon! We met after a long time. And you didn’t even talk to me at Tae’s party. ‘Cause you were too busy drooling over Jimin.”
“Excuse me!” I asked, offended. Jungkook was really testing my patience.
“Who the hell is Jimin?” Tara asked, unaware.
I’m Jimin.” Suddenly someone spoke beside us.
I looked at him in disbelief. My immediate thought was that he was perhaps stalking me. But then, I remembered that Jimin was a really good friend of Jungkook. So, it wasn’t unusual that he came to his friend’s town to attend a festival.
“Amelia!” He turned to me with a faint smirk on his face, “We meet again.”
“So, you’ve been talking about me with Jungkook?” I inquired Jimin as soon as we were left alone. Tara went to the bathroom and Jungkook was taking an important phone call.
“To be honest,” Jimin chuckled, “you’re the only thing I’ve been talking about these past few days.”
Jimin really knew how to flatter because I could tell that my face went red. But it wasn't time to give in to his seduction, especially when I was supposed to be angry at him.
"So, you guys are really having some fun talking behind my back, huh?" I retorted.
"You are indeed fun to talk about, I won't lie, but…"
I didn’t let him continue whatever he was going to say next. "Listen, I'm not interested in wasting time with you. I don't know why you'd approached me that night. I don't know what Jungkook has been telling you and whatever you're telling him in return. All I know and want you to be clear about is that I’m done encountering you. If you still don't let go, you'll have to deal with Taehyung."
Jimin laughed at my speech which only added fuel to my anger. "Well, one thing is true, then.”
“And what’s that?”
“You complain a lot to your brother, like a cry-baby."
Had it been Jungkook, he would have earned a slap across his face by now. I breathed out through my mouth to avoid doing something stupid. But someone spoke loudly beside me, "who the hell do you think you are, speaking like that to my best friend in front of me?"
"Oh, I'm sorry…" Jimin was yet again cut off.
This time, Tara angrily started to rant, "our night's already ruined. Thanks to your asshole friend. Now don't get me started on you. Don't even think you have any chance with my girl just because you're…"
"Tara," I immediately interrupted, "let's get going. It's no good fighting with them. We should know better since our previous arguments with the other asshole."
"Yeah, whatever!" Tara turned along with me.
"I'm staying in town for a few days." Jimin yelled behind us as we were walking away from him. "Don't hope to never see me again. 'Coz who knows! You might."
I grunted in frustration while Tara asked, "want me to go back and kick him in the balls?"
"Why do all the good looking guys have to be assholes?" Tara sighed one day.
I raised my eyebrows, "which assholes are you referring to?"
"Whom do you think?"
"Umm…" I thought for a while, "I know for once, Jimin is attractive and also, turned out to be an asshole like his friend. Who else do you mean?"
"I mean," Tara replied, "his friend that you just mentioned."
If Tara had said that she was pregnant, I would have been less surprised.
"What the hell, dude!" I couldn't mask my disgust, "How can you find Jungkook attractive? I knew your taste in men was trash but him?"
"Oh, thank you very much." Tara argued, "Mind you, I didn't say he was attractive. I only said 'good-looking'. And I believe I added that he was an asshole. So, he doesn’t really fall under the men of my taste. By the way, aren't you the one attracted to assholes? As far as I know, it wasn't me who made out with one of them."
I was flustered by her reply. "Hey, that was… a mistake. I was… I was drunk." I stuttered.
Tara started to laugh. I couldn't believe she was bullying me for kissing Jimin. Maybe, I shouldn't have confided in her everything. Especially the part where I said I actually enjoyed making out with him.
"You're mean!"
I stood up and walked out of my room to the living room only to find that Taehyung was having a blast with his friends. And the friends in question are none other than my life long enemy, Jungkook and my most recent crush, Jimin.
Turns out Jimin was a sneaky bitch. Somehow he managed to manipulate Taehyung into thinking that it was his friendship that Jimin was after all along and he had nothing to do with me. He also added that there was a girl in his city that he was seeing. Taehyung didn’t seem to have any problem with being friends with him since he didn’t pose an immediate threat of becoming someone closer to me. Now, my brother was having the time of his life chatting with the two people I couldn’t even bear to talk with.
Both me and Tara listened to all the bullshit for a while and then decided it was time to leave. “We’re going out!” I said to my brother, “Want me to get you something?”
“Nope!” His reply was short.
“Well, enjoy, I guess!” I muttered under my breath and headed out with Tara.
“Wait!” Jimin ran out of the house behind us.
Tara moved in between and asked, “What do you want?”
“I wanna talk with Amelia!” Jimin replied casually.
“Why?” Tara pressed further, “Isn’t it Tae whom you’re after?”
Jimin looked irritated, “Can you please give us some space for a moment?”
“What do you need a space for? I thought you had a girlfriend. Why? Aren’t you loyal?” Tara kept on going.
“Are you just going to enjoy this?” Jimin looked at me helplessly.
I simply shrugged my shoulders in reply. Jungkook came to his rescue. “Hey, Tara! Wanna know what the whole college is talking about?”
Tara’s face went red, “Jeon Jungkook, I swear I’m going to kill you if you did anything funny!” And she stormed away inside the house along with a smirking Jungkook.
“Hey…” Jimin started but I cut him in between.
“Is there anything important that you wanna say? If not, please go bother someone else.”
“You didn’t even let me start!” he pouted.
I frowned at his words, “Your pretense of being a cutie ain’t gonna help you now.”
Jimin turned serious and asked, “What’s up with you? I can’t seem to read you right. One minute you’re so into me, the next minute you won’t even look at me? Is Tae the matter?”
“Nope!” I answered truthfully, “It’s you! You’re the matter.”
“Will you at least tell me what I did wrong since the last time we met?” Jimin asked gently.
I thought for a while before saying, “Why do you even care? I’m only an inside joke between the two of you.”
Jimin started nodding his head as if he just realized something very basic, “So, Jungkook’s the matter, huh?”
“No!” I denied.
“Oh, dear!” Jimin laughed, “Do you realize how long it had been since you were in school? Seriously? Are you still holding a grudge over those silly fights you had with him? Are you still that petty?”
I huffed in annoyance, “Go on. Tell me more about what else he had told you about me.”
“Nothing but all the good times that he had with you.” Jimin said with a smile.
“Huh?”
“Amelia!” Jimin shook me by the shoulders, “Jungkook always talked about you and Tara as if you were his only friends in high school. Yeah, he mentioned the fights and all. But at the end of the day, he still considers you his friends. The time when I confessed to him about you, the only thing he said was that I was diving in for some adventure. And it wasn’t even said in a bad way. He really ships us with all his might.”
I kept blinking at him in disbelief. Surely, Jungkook wouldn’t talk all nice about us let alone calling us his friends. What is Jimin trying to do here?
At that time, Tara came out yelling at Jungkook behind her, “Grow up, rabbit faced!”
“After you, bitch!” A boiling red Jungkook yelled back at her.
Tara took my hand and pulled me away from the house. “Just ignore him. He’s a bit upset, you know!”
“What did you say for him to act like that?” I asked.
“Nothing much!” Tara shrugged, “Just reminded him how desperate he was.”
“Desperate for what?”
In reply, Tara just let out a laugh.

Pair: Yandere Taehyung × Obsessed Reader
Summary: You were obsessed freak for the new police officer in the town. Trying to get into his heart and pants both with your efforts. But when you give up on him, he comes again in your life and you were dumbfounded when you get to know that he isn't a normal police officer.
Warning: The behaviour of characters are not something to emulate. Reader isn't yandere just crazy for him, blood, reader cuts herself for show off, argument, appearance of choi Yeonjun.
Rainy season has touched South Korea, although many people hated rain Kim Taehyung was not one of them. And it was for variants of reasons.
One of those reasons being her. That woman.
He unintentionally looked at the door as if his eyes were waiting for her. The longing of seeing her was so much that he started hallucinating her standing at door, all drenched, her outfit clearly showing cleavage and her palm all bloody - wait! What?!.
Taehyung snapped out of his imagination while he saw you standing there in real. He quickly got up after he realised that you were crying for help. The junior officer, Choi Yeonjun who was standing beside can't help but cringe. You were coming into police station regularly since two weeks.
And even a blind person can figure out you were in love with officer Kim. He just saw you as a silly girl who was begging for attention. People will say he's too harsh but looking at you clinging on officer Kim like your life depends on it, he was sure.
Taehyung doesn't know what to do, you were crying - probably fake. He knows you by now. And complaining about some unknown person who harmed you. Him being a gentleman gave you a handkerchief and told you to sit on the other side to write a report. Thankfully Yeonjun was already out when hugged him.
He saw your obvious pout after pulling out of hug.
"So, did you see their faces?" Taehyung asked the question even after being sure that this was self harm.
"Won't you ask me how I am?!!" You asked in slight anger tone.
"My palm has been cut open!!" It was not that big but you wanted to see worry or love or whatever it is in his eyes.
Taehyung massaged his head, loudly breathing through his nose. He remembered the night he met you - some goons had attacked you. You were lucky that he was nearby. He fought with them in his regular black tshirt with leather jacket. It was raining so it went all slow motion for you. Your knight in shining armor was nothing less compared to heroes in films.
He lend you his jacket to make you feel more safe. And there were butterflies in your stomach as he made such move. You asked for cleaning his little wounds to touch him, feel his muscles and he thought you were just being kind.
After that night you visited the police station as he told you he works there. You brought him luxurious gifts just simply on the name of being saved. Only if he knew you already gone for him.
He thought it was cute. After that day, she seemed to be everywhere—offering him homemade cookies, dropping by the precinct with lunch, giving him luxurious gifts here and there even if he refused.
You were quite flirty as well but what began as harmless flirtation quickly escalated into something much more unnerving. Every day, you found new ways to insert yourself into his life.
Like - right now you were being pain in the ass. Solely focusing on does he care about her - not even caring about her wounds.
"You need to back off , YN!" Taehyung told you, his voice tight with frustration.
You were silenced by his serious tone.
“This isn’t cute anymore. It’s not a game. Stay away from me.”
But You weren't deterred.
“Taehyung, you don’t mean that,” you said as your voice soft and coaxing, as if you could soothe away his anger with just a few words. You reached out to touch his hand, but he jerked away, his patience at its breaking point.
You were upset not with him but with yourself. You being a rich brat was always given what you wanted. So you were determined to get him to love you.
But now you understood that love can't be forced even after trying so many times you failed to gain his love. You can't always win anything even with money sometimes.
You stood up and left the police station. Your hand was taken care by him while you were expressing your agony.
It's been awhile, taehyung hadn't seen you. Who was he kidding tho it was just second day of you not visiting him.
Taehyung couldn't believe you didn't come the other day after argument. He thought you will enter with your sunshine smile and homemade cookies in your hand, flirting with him by openly calling him baby and talking dirty just to make him blush.
On the first day of your disappearance, he was astonished not founding you by his office door with some notorious idea to see him but he became busy to stop the feeling, the feeling of loneliness. He was surrounded by people but at the same time he wasn't. It was like you had his identity, and that somehow made him happy.
The second day was normal for everyone but not Taehyung, not him.
At first, it was just a flicker of curiosity. He wondered where were you, what were you doing, why the heck you had finally listened to him. But as the day turned into night, that curiosity grew into something more—a strange, burning need to see you again.
The rain wasn't stopping and for the first time he felt like hating the rain for the first time. It can't be right?! He promised himself to be rain lover all his life.
He began to replay your encounters in his mind, each memory sharpened by the absence of your chaotic energy.
And then, the dreams started. Dreams where you was the one pulling away, where he was the one chasing you, begging for your attention. Each time he woke, his heart pounded in his chest, his sheets twisted and damp with sweat and maybe some white substance. He hated the way you had wormed your way into his thoughts, but he couldn’t stop it. The more he tried to push you away, the more you consumed him.
Soon, Taehyung found himself driving by your apartment, lingering outside the places you used to wait for him, hoping for a glimpse of the woman he had once been so desperate to escape.
The tables had turned, and now, it was Taehyung who was haunted by the obsession that had once belonged to her.
But except it wasn't just a normal obsession, it was intense. Seems like you didn't know about officer Kim Taehyung at all.
next part
Did you guys like it?! Yandere Taehyung is about to take place in part 2!!.
Show some love and appreciation, it'll make me happier 💕

Why would Taennie be mediaplay or pr?? Taehyung is part of the most popular group in the world, and he's arguably the most popular member, why would he do pr? There's nothing for him to gain from it. And why now?? The taennie rumors have been circulating since late 2021 when he followed then unfollowed her on Instagram, and he was quick to take it to weverse and say it was an accident. Then the Jeju island pics came months later in May. Then the gurumi pics came around August last year. Then the Paris pics last month. And none of these things were confirmed nor denied. Taehyung usually denies dating rumors that involve him himself, so obviously this one is real and his privacy has been breached, so he can't lie and say it isn't real, but he doesn't owe us a confirmation either. It's his personal life.
Hi anon!
I don’t think you are fully understanding the meaning and workings of pr. Every (!) celeb does pr. The ways in which they do this may differ hugely, but pr is necessary to reach the top and it is necessary to stay on top. BTS has always done pr. BlackPink has always done pr.
Let’s take this out of the realm of Kpop for a minute (a little distance to see things clearly). A quick search online gave me these articles. All of these are pr.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b4c5aa510a44d58a84b317c356345cef/2c7af31af6e72dbf-d1/s540x810/d3e4164e11b218f0564bb2ed39b9e322e9c7e265.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/fe32e6527a6f5c945b6e099e38418c3f/2c7af31af6e72dbf-7f/s540x810/2b346580bacd9fea830ad78da05ab44c44638f11.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/8d1e3ba7277b438f5c8b44a334ac93ce/2c7af31af6e72dbf-0f/s640x960/25e2725a841aa432ce6041dc93227b2936d1d6a2.jpg)

David Beckham wants to stay in the eye of the public, so he gets papped every now and then. The British royal family has enough problems for a lifetime, so they try and avert attention. Taylor Swift means what she says, but it’s also good for her image. And Kim Kardashian’s whole life is basically pr. No matter how famous you are… there’s always going to be goals to reach, scandals to bury, or just trying to keep on top. Paps don’t go looking for celebs as they used to. Celebs have become pro-active, so they can keep control of what’s being written about them. Linking this article again:
You might think Tae and Jennie don’t need the promo, I can guarantee that their companies think differently. Tae is entering a new era. Going solo is very different from being a part of BTS.. and he possibly has something to hide (ofcourse he has!!). Jennie possibly wants to act more. She has much stuff to promote (pr) and has already gained a lot of promo for her new series on HBO. Pr is part of a celeb’s life.. whether they like it or not.
Now what you possibly mean is that Tae doesn’t need to have a fake relationship. In a perfect world, no he wouldn’t… but this world isn’t perfect and queer people sadly enough have to hide. If he chooses to combine that with a strong dose of pr.. then he certainly wouldn’t be the first one.
Ofcourse he won’t deny or confirm.. this works way better.

Jiyeon would’ve very much preferred to be at his office over spending the day with Namjoon, even if she would be surrounded by family who seemed to hate her guts, even when she didn’t do anything wrong.
Jiyeon was mopping the floor when Namjoon relayed Taehyung’s message and she paused to listen, not quite sure why he needed her dressed and ready but she didn’t question it. Jiyeon then glanced over at the clock, noting to herself that she should probably get ready soon so that she could be on time. Then Namjoon spoke again and made a remark about her clothes, and Jiyeon had to take a breath to not show her annoyance at the man and get into trouble, not now, when she seemingly was allowed to leave the house tonight.
She just wanted to be left alone for once but Namjoon kept on talking. “She’s lovely.” The best thing was short answers and not allowing him to get under her skin— because that is what he wanted. He wanted her to snap back or even explode at him, all so he could feign innocence and run to Taehyung as soon as he stepped into the home to report Jiyeon’s ‘bad behavior’ and stand there with a smirk as he berated her or worse.
She decided not to comment, but instead excused herself. “Sorry, I should get changed, but I will be back with you shortly, please excuse me.” She took the mop with her and put it back into the utilities closet before heading upstairs.
Jiyeon was ready— She had dressed up in one of the nicer dresses she had (however, felt unsure of her choice when Namjoon questioned if that was really the dress she chose to wear) she had even put up some light make up, and she found herself oddly… excited. About 15 minutes later the front door unlocked and the owner of the home stepped in.
Standing down the hall, she watched as Namjoon and Taehyung chatted. Jiyeon felt some weird butterflies swarm in her chest when he glanced over at her, in general, it seemed as if the visit at his grandmother’s did him well. There was something different about him. After the two friends caught up, Jiyeon bid Namjoon farewell before she joined Taehyung’s side.
“How was work?” Jiyeon asked as they drove off. “I hope it was less eventful for you today..” She cautiously smiled, hinting at a few days ago. Jiyeon glanced outside, before she turned to look at Taehyung again. “Where are we going…?” She asked.
Jiyeon stayed right by Taehyung’s side as they entered the establishment, and Jiyeon couldn’t help but whisper out a ‘wow’ as she looked around. “This place is gorgeous.” She commented, this must be the type of places he had grown accustomed to, Jiyeon didn’t know the extent of his wealth, but she knew that he must be swimming in a shit ton of money. Surely he must be a millionaire, or maybe a billionaire? Her mind then trailed elsewhere; did he take women to fancy restaurants often? Was there an overload of women throwing themselves at his feet, like Sohee did? Jiyeon put a stop at her thoughts as she found herself feel oddly… uneasy about the idea.
[🎙️]
“Welcome home.” Namjoon greeted his friend after the front door clicked shut.
While placing his brief case down on the table, Taehyung greeted him back, questioning his friend on how his darling prisoner behaved before his eyes travelled past his decade long friend, to the girl near the end of the hallway.
The politician followed his eyes for a brief moment before a grin tugged on his lips. “She’s been ready for you, waiting. Even 15 minutes early.” Namjoon dropped his voice down to a slightly quieter tone. “I think she’s rather excited for whatever you have planned tonight.”
Hearing those words brought a grin to Taehyung’s lips. His eyes dragged from the top of her head, down to the tips of her toes, taking in what he saw as her pure beauty. Classic, not distracting or fake.
She looked so radiant to him, so put together. Like she was trying — wanting — to look her best for him, to please him.
Ha, how could she try and say she wanted nothing to do with him, she didn’t want to be here with him, if this is how she acts?
Actions of course speak louder than words.
He’s molding her so perfectly.
“What are you standing so far away for? Aren’t you going to come greet me, or at least say goodbye to your guest?” Taehyung mocked, bringing attention to Jiyeon. He wanted her to come closer to him, and that’s just what she did.
He waited for her to inch closer, and when he deemed close enough, one arm wrapped around her waist, the other bringing his hand to tilt her chin. “I’ve heard you’ve been a good girl today.” He murmured before his lips found hers next, moving in a methodical rhythm both slow yet hungry, like the taste of her lips was something he’d been craving since the moment he left in the morning.
“This must be where I take my leave.” After watching the pair for a moment, Namjoon soon chimed in with a chuckle. He was bid a goodbye before the door closed behind him.
The couple left soon after he did, not wanting to waste another second at home.
“How was work?” The girl’s sweet voice cut through the silence in the car. “I hope it was less eventful for you today..”
Oddly, he found himself chuckling at her words. “It was fine, a good day.” He answered. “Much more peaceful.” He joined in on the now inside joke between them.
“Pierre Gagnaire à Séoul.” He answered her next question, naming the restaurant located in the heart of their city.
After he parked and the 2 got out of the car, his arm linked with hers, and he led her into the restaurant, where they were greeted by a hostess.
“7 p.m. reservation under Kim.” Taehyung spoke, his eyes glancing down at the woman at his side, admiring the way the lights seemed to glitter in her eyes.
“Of course. Right this way, sir.” The hostess smiled brightly, almost as if she was trying to catch the man’s attention even for a moment, but it didn’t appear to work.
Taehyung had to force back the smirk that wanted to tug on his lips at Jiyeon’s soft wow. She really was such an inexperienced little thing of his.
And he was the only reason she was getting to experience so much more.
“Here you are. Your server will be right with you.” The hostess set down 2 menu’s before gesturing towards their table; privately secluded from the rest of the establishment, seated right next to a giant window that overlooked the city.
Taehyung pulled out the chair for her before taking a seat himself. By then, the server arrived, pouring them each a glass of high end champagne before leaving them alone to look over menu’s.
“Have you ever been to a place like this before?” Taehyung mused, taking a sip of his drink.
He couldn’t tear his eyes off of her, too captivated by her own unique beauty.
“She is beautiful, oh, Tae, she is exactly what your father would’ve wanted for you. If he was still around, he would have been so proud of you for choosing her.”
His grandmother’s rung through his mind.
“So young and inexperience, ready for you to guide her on how she should be. Her beauty is just right, not underwhelming nor attention grabbing, she’s… just right.”
Jiyeon wasn’t stealing anyone’s attention. There wasn’t any prying or jealous eyes wanting to steal her away from him.
She was perfect for him. She was everything he knew he wanted in a partner.
Soon, the server came back, topping off their glasses with fresh champagne before taking their order, then soon leaving them alone once again.
“Tell me, sweetheart, I’ve been curious for quite some time.” Taehyung started. “What made you choose to major in journalism, of all things?”
