morgan i know you’re a kimi no todoke and fruits basket girlie but i MUST know… have you ever read/watched kamisama kiss? sorry… i’m such a sucker for shoujo and whenever you talk about any i’m like ahhhhhh

tab <3 okay this is such a controversial opinion I KNOWWWWW but it actually took me a hot minute to get into kamisama kiss for some reason and i think it was partially bc nanami was used as the comic relief most of the time so i just couldn't take her as seriously as some other shoujo heroines 😭😭 this is not to say i don't like nanami i do!!! and once i got into it i did enjoy it!!! but to me i think the standout of kamisama kiss is tomoe's character development. his entire relationship with akura-ou was also super well done and very compelling. you know that panel in the last couple of chapters where the two of them are buried in the snow???? had me SOBBING.

also i think what i really liked about fb and knt is that since both mangas are slice of life it gave it room to really focus on the relationships between the characters and character development/introspection, etc which i think is vital to building up a shoujo romance and in these shoujo mangas while ppl can call tohru or sawako characteristically passive they aren't passive characters. and i think in kamisama kiss in the beginning at least things happen to nanami instead of the other way around which i think safe to say is a byproduct of the manga's supernatural genre. but yeah. still a very very good manga though!!!
