The 4L4 fusial thrust engine.
On a T-65B X-wing.
Because it’s a chance to use the term “fusial thrust” once again.

prompts: I wouldn’t worry. she’s tougher than both of us. // andor s1 sentence starters: ep1, kassa // @ofsquadrons
❛ i’m not. ❜ he quips, a little more defensively than intended. greasy palms making a quick wipe to the beaded sweat lacing his brow area, already being at work for hours to no end. he might have been an ace back home in anchorhead, racing skyhoppers through canyons but with those t65bs he was still getting used to their mechanics. sure, easy on the eyes but with thrusters hard to anticipate. biggs had washed out during their routine patrol earlier in the hour that had made a few little technical wirings that he now needed to resolve, he insisted on being hands on in spite of the mechanics protests. antillies ----- a veteran of his craft was quick to notice his displeasure at having to wait out the repairs to ensure that his next fly out was a smooth one. he shouldn’t be so hard on himself. he had flown TIE’s back during his academy days, they were agile but very easily spun out of control if the instruments weren’t properly checked.
the other pilot was waiting for more clarification ; wedge meant well but biggs’s own personal reservations at this point in time naturally made him want to withhold as much as possible. his time with the alliance was still fresh & while red squadron’s induction had been swift, he was starting to feel a little homesick. ❛ if I break something, I fix it. I know what i’m doing. ❜

Anacortes It was overcast and sprinkling as we left Cap Sante Marina and cut south down Rosario Strait. The water was flat calm throughout our trip, and towering thunderclouds were shifting overhead. We continued south down the west side of Whidbey Island towards Partridge Bank. There we met up with the T49Bs, T49A1, T65B and others that were most likely members of the aforementioned' pods. They were milling with prolonged down times when we met up with them. After about half an hour of this, we spotted a porpoising harbor porpoise off our bow. Just as we were remarking on what a horrible place it was for that little guy to be, we saw the roiling wake of orcas in pursuit right behind it. It was an epic takedown right off of our bow. We watched in awe as the orca circled, corralled, chased, and eventually took down the little porpoise. The gulls circled as they finished off their meal, after which the orca continued traveling south towards Port Townsend. We followed for a while before turning back for home. On the ride back we stopped along the Whidbey coastline just east of Smith to watch a small minke whale lunge feed, and at Williamson Rocks to visit with some harbor seals and cormorants.
Port Angeles We started and ended the trip with rain but had blue skies peeking out amongst the clouds. As we were leaving the harbor, we stopped to check out a group of harbor seals smiling from the stony beach on Ediz Hook. We then made our way across the strait in search of wildlife, spotting a few scattered groups of harbor porpoise along the way. We made it all the way to the Vancouver island shoreline before hearing reports of two humpback whales nearby! As we approached, we got a few looks at the tail of one whale who turned out to be our friend Stitch! The whales were spread out so we ping ponged between them for a while! Eventually we headed through the race rocks island to check out the historic lighthouse and the many sea lions and seals on the rocks, along with Ollie the sea otter munching on some urchins! We could hear (and smell) the barking sea lions from a mile away! Afterward we were able to catch back up with our second humpback whale, a smaller animal with a mostly white fluke nicknamed "Slalom". After this encounter we made our way back south toward Port Angeles!
