For someone else, it might turn out to be a challenge to identify uncertainty in someone as confident and cheerful as Abigail, but Logan could see it clearly as he suggested they went inside a particularly exclusive lingerie boutique. But the idea of watching her on those little numbers was enough to make him stand his ground. A reassuring look on his eyes as he guaranteed, “trust me, you’re gonna love this place.” One of his hands, the one that wasn’t holding Abigail’s, opened up the door, a pleased grin on his face as he considered how many times he'd found himself uttering that same sentence in the last couple of days. He didn’t withhold any detail of the experience from her, giving the blonde nothing but the best things Paris has to offer: sure, there was the necessary visit to the art museums he had never really cared all that much about even if he would not forgive himself if he didn’t take her; however, there were also his favorite parts, the Michelin star restaurants, the hotel room so spectacular that even he had felt slightly amazed and now the shopping spree he’d insisted on starting, the card on his wallet more than ready to be used. “There’s no pressure, we’ll just look around, see if there’s anything that you like,” that wouldn’t be hard, though, “you know, maybe something that makes you feel like modeling it for me.”

The Playoffs: Semifinals

The Golden Army’s march toward the championship continued, and now they found themselves in the semifinals. The tension in the air was palpable as they prepared to take on the Crushers, a physically imposing team known for their aggressive style of play. The Golden Army had earned their spot with skill, teamwork, and heart, but they knew the Crushers were a different kind of challenge—one that would require everything they had.

In the locker room, the team sat in silence, lacing up their sneakers and mentally preparing for the battle ahead. Captain Richard paced the room, his eyes sharp with focus. “This is it, lads. We’ve got ninety minutes to book our place in the final. The Crushers play rough, but we play smart. Stick to our plan, stay tight, and don’t let them bully us.”

Brody nodded. “We can’t let them control the tempo. We keep possession, move the ball quickly, and they’ll be chasing shadows.”

Roman, standing tall near the back, chimed in. “They’re physical, but they can’t match our pace. We’ll wear them down.”

Scott, always the optimist, grinned at his teammates. “Let’s give ‘em something to remember, eh? This is our time.”

Caleb, Bruce, and Henry listened intently. Caleb had impressed in training with his lightning-fast runs, while Bruce and Henry had been rock-solid additions to the squad. They were eager to prove themselves on the big stage.

The team had one last huddle and cheer before heading towards the pitch, as brothers and a team.

The whistle blew, and the semifinal was underway. From the start, the Crushers lived up to their name, using their size and strength to disrupt the Golden Army’s rhythm. The first ten minutes were scrappy, with hard tackles flying in and neither team able to establish control.

In the 15th minute, the Crushers struck first. A long ball from their goalkeeper was headed down by their towering striker, who muscled past Bruce and laid the ball off to their winger. The winger sprinted down the left flank and fired a low cross into the box. The Crushers’ forward slid in, beating Henry to the ball, and slotted it into the back of the net.

The crowd roared, but the Golden Army wasn’t rattled. Richard clapped his hands, urging his team forward. “Heads up, lads! We knew they’d come at us hard. Let’s hit back!”

Brody, determined to take control of the midfield, began to dictate the tempo, spraying passes out wide to Scott and Caleb. Caleb’s pace was causing problems for the Crushers’ defense, and it wasn’t long before the Golden Army started to find their rhythm.

In the 30th minute, their persistence paid off. Brody won a tackle in midfield and immediately looked to play the ball forward. He found Caleb in space on the right wing. With a burst of speed, Caleb beat his marker and whipped in a dangerous cross toward the far post.

Logan, timing his run perfectly, leaped into the air and connected with a powerful header, sending the ball crashing into the top corner.

Golden Army 1, Crushers 1.

The stadium erupted as Logan was mobbed by his teammates. Scott jogged over, grinning. “Perfect ball, Caleb. Keep ‘em coming!”

Caleb, his eyes gleaming with excitement, nodded. “They can’t keep up with us.”

With the game now level, the Golden Army began to dominate possession. Roman and Brody were controlling the midfield, while Bruce and Henry had tightened up at the back, cutting off the Crushers’ long-ball strategy.

The second half started with the same intensity, but it was clear the Crushers were beginning to tire. The Golden Army’s quick passing and relentless movement were wearing them down. In the 60th minute, the breakthrough came.

Brody, once again at the heart of the play, received the ball just inside the Crushers’ half. He dribbled forward, drawing two defenders toward him, and then slipped a perfectly weighted pass through the gap to Roman, who had made a clever run into the box.

Roman didn’t hesitate. With a single touch, he controlled the ball and fired it low into the bottom corner, past the outstretched arms of the Crushers’ goalkeeper.

The Golden Army players celebrated as the momentum swung firmly in their favor. Roman jogged back to his position, a determined look on his face. “Let’s finish this.”

The Crushers, now desperate for an equalizer, pushed forward, leaving themselves vulnerable to the counterattack. With ten minutes left to play, the Golden Army seized their opportunity.

Scott, tracking back to help the defense, won the ball and quickly launched a counterattack. He sent the ball out wide to Caleb, who had been terrorizing the Crushers’ left-back all game. Caleb sprinted down the wing, his blistering pace leaving the defenders trailing in his wake.

As Caleb approached the edge of the box, he cut inside, drawing the attention of the Crushers’ center-backs. But instead of going for goal, he slipped a clever pass to Layton, who had ghosted into the box unmarked.

Layton took a touch and calmly slotted the ball into the net.

Golden Army 3, Crushers 1.

The Golden Army players erupted in celebration, knowing they had sealed their place in the final. The Crushers, deflated and exhausted, had no answer. The final whistle blew minutes later, and the Golden Army had done it.

Richard gathered the team in a huddle, pride shining in his eyes. “That’s how we fight, lads. We didn’t let up, we didn’t give them an inch. One more game, and we bring that trophy home.”

Brody, still catching his breath, grinned. “We’re not done yet.”

Caleb, Bruce, Roman, and Henry all exchanged excited glances. They had proven themselves on the biggest stage, and now they were ready for the final battle.

The Golden Army left the field with their heads held high, knowing that they were just one game away from glory. The camaraderie that had carried them this far was stronger than ever, and with the final looming, they knew that no challenge was too great as long as they had each other.

               it’s not like the male hadn’t anticipated a similar reaction from abigail as he let out their place of destination so offhandedly. but still, the real deal was much better than the scenario his mind had ideated. as the blonde’s face lit up with sparkling joy, logan decided this definitely wouldn’t be the last time he took her on surprise trips. “I…I... we…” he couldn’t help but mock his girl a little, enchanted gleam in his eyes as he witnessed her elation. “yeah, abi, of course we are.” was his reply to the question he found so hilarious, because he certainly wasn’t about to take her to any other paris. it was bewitching, the way the coquettish, alluring sex goddess he’d gotten so familiar with in the last couple of weeks was the same adorable person who was basically climbing him like a tree in an effort to show him her appreciation for the date plan. he certainly didn’t plan to complain though, the grin of his face an evident proof of how much he was already enjoying the trip that was about to begin. “I should hope so, this wouldn’t be half as fun if you told me another customer took you to rome last week.” the male joked, charming smile and casual air even as his hands moved from the fairly chaste spot where they’d come to grab at the girl’s hips as she surrounded him between her inviting thighs; now, one palm sneaked easily under the barely existing piece of fabric abigail had insisted on calling a dress and the other one moved up to grasp the back of her neck so he could kiss her just like he wanted. slow at first, almost with the intention to play around and torture the blonde enough to awaken that heated eagerness inside of her; but then his tongue was licking over her bottom lip more demandingly, getting a taste of her shiny gloss in a request for her to open up to allow him to take what was his. he’d come to find there was no containing himself whenever abigail was around, which was fine because he’d never tried hard to do it in the first place. it’s not like he cared about who saw them around. if anyone had a problem with him spending his money on spoiling the blonde and indulging every one of her whims, then fuck them. with more effort than what he’d like to admit, logan pulled away, moving to leave the girl on one of the seats, another soft press of his lips against hers before he was walking towards the small bar. “want to hear what I’m thinking?” not that the tone of his proposal didn’t suggest what was on his mind. “I’ll pour us some champagne for the take off and you’re going to get rid of that dress of yours, it’s only fair that we both get to enjoy the view, right?” of course, the sight he was interested in had nothing to do with the clouds or how small their city became as they reached a good number of miles over the ground, no, that one was for her. the vista he was thinking about was much more specific, that was the same reason why he’d informed the aircrew that no one was to come and distract them during the flight. 

Abigail was beyond grateful for absolutely everything that Logan had bestowed upon her, she was living a fairytale in her own mildly bizarre way, but despite this the faint confusion and slight disappointment that crossed her face after hearing that he wouldn't be taking her on a plane was unable to miss. Albeit, short lived, because as she gazed up at him studiously and tried to make sense of what exactly he was doing with her, enjoying the possessive nature of his grasp just a little bit too much, he had explained the nuance of the transportation. The blonde rolled her eyes, grin dimpling on her cheeks as she swatted sweetly at his shoulder. "You're out of your mind you sexy rich fuck." Abi couldn't help but tease, laughter escaping her in a wave of sheer delight, before leaning in to plant a hot little kiss to his lower lip, the type that was only suggestive of what else she had in mind. Paired with the 'fuck me' gaze she met him with, it was a pretty clear indicator of just how horny this gross display of wealth had made her. Of course, it was overwhelming, because as much as she wanted to fuck his brains out for this, she had never been on a plane, and her excitement was bubbling beneath the surface. So, with his guidance, she teetered up the stairs to the jet, eyes following her heels the entire time as she nervously approached, light quip escaping her as a way to quash her reserves about aviation. Nothing could have prepared her for the experience, and when she saw the inside of the plane her heart nearly skipped a beat. It was only when he spoke again, and she span on her heel, that Abigail truly felt speechless. "Paris? Like...The Paris. Paris, France? You're...We...Oh my God!" The scantily clad blonde all but squealed, practically throwing herself into Logan's embrace as long legs wrapped around his waist and her arms found home around his neck, littering his face and neck with kisses as she giddily clung to his frame, hands messily tightening into the back of his dirty blonde locks. "Have I told you yet how you're my favorite strip club patron ever?"

        for a fraction of a second, logan found himself pondering the possibility that his entire interaction with absinthe today was a part of some twisted joke his brother and the brunette were trying to play against him. however, being true to his self-assured and devil-may-care nature, he was quick to discard that idea. no. this wasn’t a joke, he was just getting exactly what he had been after ever since the moment he laid eyes on the beautiful woman he now was going to take home. impatient was the male’s wait inside the house, eagerly counting the minutes before he could step out without raising any wariness. and once he did, he couldn’t help himself. the discreet thing to do would have been holding on until the front door of his apartment was closed behind them. but he didn’t care. that’s why he settled for taking a good look around to make sure there were not prying eyes following them, turning towards absinthe as soon as they arrived next to his car. avaricious hands dared to grab at the woman’s waist, a determined, possessive touch, the kind of warning of what was to come. giving himself the gift of pinning the brunette against the door in a quick movement, he stepped closer, senses invaded by her addictive perfume. “you have no idea how many times i’ve thought of this. ” voice a low murmur, one of his hands placed now on absinthe's thigh before slowly starting to move up challenging her, testing her limits.

               “you know me, when have I ever seen anyone?” the blond man assured, a smug smile on his face. he’d never been one to feel ashamed of his perpetually-single condition. it’s not that he didn’t see the appeal. sure, some people could find it nice to have someone to go home to, not having to find a different stanger every time you went out to take to your bed or genuinely feeling there’s a bond stronger than pleasure. but to logan? all of that sounded ridiculously smothering. he wasn’t about to throw his freedom away like it was nothing. “but you’re right, it’s insane that you’ve been this busy. if you need me to help, say the word and I’ll tell my father to give you a free week or something.” it’s not that he’d use those exact words. but he did feel slightly bad that the job he’d gotten to his friend ended up taking all her time. “what about you? any hot dates lately?”

teagan’s affair with her best friend’s dad wasn’t really ever something she expected to happen, especially when it was logan she wanted but after an unplanned hook up and radio silence on the topic afterwards, she was convinced he didn’t feel the same in return and she wasn’t the kind of girl to push the subject in fear of ruining their friendship. “so, seeing anyone nowadays?” she started and leaned back against the patio chair as she lulled her head to the side to look at the man. “i feel like we never get to see each other anymore. work has taken up all of my time.” but some other out of work activities had taken up her time too, all having to do with her sudden relationship with his dad. there was no way she was going to tell him that though.

What you do to me when you hold his hand

Everything was too much. It was loud and the lights were coming from everywhere, flashing in all the colours of the rainbow. But Logan's eyes were fixed on one thing and his mind shut out everything else.

There he was, his best friend, Finn O'Hara, shamelessly flirting with some girl he just met. Some random girl in black skinny jeans and a loose fitting t-shirt with some kind of quote. Probably something like "But first coffee." Or "C'est la vie.". Just some quote that's good the first time and then it's everywhere.

Just like her hands. She was touching Finn. All the time. Whenever he said anything, she reached over to him. Couldn't keep her damn hands on her side for one second.

They laughed, together. Finn probably said something funny. He was always the one cheering Logan up on a bad day. Why he told it to her, was another question.

Finn was probably just being polite, now that Logan thought about it. He knew his best friend. There was no way he actually like her. But Finn was always too kind for his own good. He was probably uncomfortable. Maybe he should go over there and save his friend. That would probably be for the best.

Then he saw Finn reaching out. Taking her drink. Holding her hand, around her drink. And not moving away. Off course, Finn, always the gentleman would bring her a new drink, as hers was empty, but holding hands?!  That wasn't necessary to be friendly. Finn's hand still lingered on the smaller one around the cup. Maybe he was cheering her up? Maybe he saw, she was all alone, all evening and he just wanted her to feel better, by pretending to be interested.

Or maybe, he actually liked her.

We were meant to be but a twist of fate

Made it so you had to walk away

Off course, that was how it had to go. Finn had been gone for months. Logan was still about to cry, every time he passed his old room.

He could see the new posters, of their new teammate. Brody. Yes, he was friendly and put away the stuff he used. He was an almost perfect roommate. The problem was, he wasnt Finn.

He didnt have those red curls, that got all messed up in the morning and when he got drunk. Like they had been the night of their first - yeah. He didnt have freckles, that built star constellations in themselves. That were supposed to be traced and kissed and -.

No, that boy Logan longed for wasnt there with him anymore. No more distractions, no more pretending, no more hiding his feelings.

No more lingering glances, no more soft brown eyes, no more electric touches.

No more Finn.

But now he was with him again. Talking, joking, playing. They were on the same line. Off course, they were. Logan knew every detail about each one of Finn's plays. Finn knew every little suspicion and comfort Logan had. They knew each other better than they knew themselves. They just- worked together.

They didnt count their own goals. They scored together. Passing the puck multiple times until one of them had the best chance of scoring. They achieved multiple hat-tricks together, one from Finn and two from Logan. And even if Finn scored three, it was theirs. Because Logan helped. Logan was like his second self.

Logan was his other half.

I don't care what people say when we're together

"I want you, Lo'! I know you do, too. Admit it to yourself. You owe it to youself.", Finn shot at him and then added not much above a whisper, "You owe it to me."

"We can't, Finn. You know we can't. You dont want to risk it. You couldnt live with the whole crowd chanting slurs at you, everytime they see you. I couldnt live with them shouting at you.", Logan cried, tears forming in his eyes and threatening to fall.

"I don't care what theyll say!", Finn shouted. He couldnt hold it back anymore. He had enough of hiding. He wasnt wrong for wanting what he wanted.

He remembered the morning he left for Gryffindor.

Finn woke up, blinking slowly until his eyes adjusted to the light, from the morning sun. It tickled his feet and hands and neck and shoulder- and that wasnt the sun.

Next to him, Finn had completely forgotten in his half asleep state, was Logan. His head on Finns shoulder, eyelashes on his neck. Tickling him.

Their legs were tangled and Finns hand was on Logans back. He could feel his heartbeat. It sounded a lot slower than Finns now quick one. Logans back was warm. Logan was warm. Finn could feel each place they were touching, like it was burning his skin. It was a good pain for the moment.

For the first time, all the excitement about being able to play for the lions- world famous gryffindor lions, his dream- vanished, rigt now, he just wanted to stay. Stay curled up around, this beautiful boy, lying next to him. He would give up his spot on the team, if there was anyway that would make them work out.

But there wasnt. Logan wasnt talking about things that happend, so why would he talk about things that could?

So Finn just burried his nose in Logans hair for the time being and hoped his feelings would fade. Tomorrow. Not today. He would let himself enjoy the closeness for now. He wouldn't ever get this chance again.

It's four a.m. and I know that you're with him

Logan was staring at the ceiling. Or the floor?

He was lying on his bed, in Dumos basement. They had just won the badgers game. Yet, he didnt feel like celebrating.

He had left right after dinner, which was as perfect as always. Logan hadnt said more than what had been necessary and he had felt celeste worried glances, but she hadnt questioned it. He was glad about it.

The problem wasnt the win. Or how he played or that someone got hurt. No. I was the moment after the timer had ran out. He had been skating over to Finn, like he always did, bumping the helmets together and celebrating their win.

The problem were blond curls on Finns shoulder, as Leo had come up behind the red head and had hugged him. His hand was on Finns chest. Probably feeling his heartbeat. Finn warm all along his back, not only with adrenaline, but the pressure of another body close to him.

The problem was that, Logan wanted to rip Leo's hand away from Finns heart. Wanted to push him away and take his place, feeling Finns warmth in his arms.

The bigger problem was though, that he also wanted to push away Finn and take his place. Feeling Leo's arms surround him and his head a gentle weight on his shoulder.

And then there was that small part that didnt mind. That small part that wanted them to stay exactly how they were. Leo wrapped around Finn, smiling at him and looking all in all just happy. Holding his hand over Finns heart, a place Logan had had his own hand, thinking about if Finn felt the connection. If Leo felt the connection.

Logan hoped they did.

Saturday Night

“Should I ask Marcus to winter formal?” asked Ella, pacing around her room nonstop. You raised an eyebrow at her from where you lay on her bed, Anthony shaking his head from the other side. “I was asking Y/N, not the guy that won’t even go with his boyfriend.”

“Ella,” you said, hanging your head off the edge of her bed. “If Anthony doesn’t want to go broadcast something he doesn’t want to, he doesn’t have to. Also, you don’t need a date. Go with your friends. It’s more fun anyways.”

“Yeah but Marcus is cute and all my friends have boyfriends,” she said, sighing as she stood in front of her closet and held up her dress.

“Don’t have a boyfriend because your friends do, Ella. It is so not worth the aggravation,” you said. “Boys are never worth the aggravation.”

“Agreed,” they both said, a tiny smile on your face.

“Why’d you break up with Logan again?” asked Anthony. You sighed and let out a long groan. “He was good looking.”

“Being attractive has nothing to do with having a good relationship,” you said.

“Yeah, but like even mom and dad don’t know what happened between you-” said Ella, cutting herself off when you sat up with a glare.

“I thought I asked you two to never bring him up again,” you said. “It’s over and that’s it.”

“Did he cheat on you?” asked Ella. You scoffed and closed your eyes. “If he cheated-”

“Mind your own fucking business,” you snapped. She stared at you, a little misty eyed and you squeezed yours shut. You’d never swore at her before and knew she’d beat herself up about it if you didn’t nip it in the bud. “El, I’m sorry. Logan...he broke my heart. It hurt. A lot. I thought he was the person I was going to end up with. He wasn’t the person I thought he was though. Obviously it’s still a sensitive subject for me. I don’t want to talk about him anymore.”

“Sorry,” she mumbled. She went over to her window seat and plopped down, turning her head to look out the dark window. 

“Ella bear,” you said, standing up and walking over, sitting next to her and pulling her into a hug. “I love you.”

“When I broke up with Brady, you told me it wasn’t the end of the world and it felt like it,” she said, looking up at you. “Why’s Logan different?”

“Things are different when you’re older, when you’re in a long term relationship and it ends,” you said. “Forgive me?”

“Yeah. Sorry,” she said, giving you back a hug before she set her sights on Anthony. “So what’s the deal with you and Nolan?”

“He kinda wants to tell his parents about us and I don’t want to do that until mom and dad know and I’m not ready to tell them,” he said, tossing his baseball up and down. “Y/N, what do you think?”

“Well it’s a personal thing. You should tell them when you’re ready. If Nolan’s ready that’s his choice but he should respect yours too,” you said.  “Honestly if you two are going to keep having sex though, maybe-”

“Y/N,” he groaned. “I thought I told you not to talk about that stuff with Ella here.”

“I took health class too, idiot,” she said.

“I’m not talking about sex with my little sister,” he said. 

“She’s sixteen. She knows what it is,” you said. “If you can’t talk about it, you shouldn’t be doing it.”

“I don’t get the big deal in telling mom and dad you have a boyfriend,” said Ella. “They wouldn’t have a problem with it.”

“I’m just not ready, El. Forget I said anything,” said Anthony, tossing his ball one more time before you caught it.

“Don’t let Nolan pressure you into saying something either, okay?” you asked. Anthony smiled and nodded. 

“He wouldn’t. We’ll just wait until we’re both ready to tell them,” he said. You tossed his ball back, the doorbell ringing in the distance.

“Kids! Our guest is here!” shouted your dad from downstairs. 

“Guest? God, is it another stupid studio executive?” groaned Ella as she stood up. “I hate those guys.”

“It’s dad’s costar. Jensen Ackles,” you said, waving them both to follow you. “He’s nice. You’ll like him.”

“What’s he been in?” asked Anthony. “He sounds vaguely familiar.”

“Some of those teenage shows you like. He was on some horror show for a few years and stuff before that,” you said. “Come on you two.”

Anthony typed away on his phone as they dragged their feet down the hall, freezing and getting a sigh from you.

“Oh wow,” said Anthony, holding up his phone for Ella to see. “He’s hot.”

“Oh, move over Gil Nicholas,” said Ella. “He is so much better looking. He’s taller too.”

“Guys. Behave,” you said as you walked towards the top of the stairs. You headed downstairs with them on your tail, Jensen handing over his coat to your mom in the foyer. “Hey, Jay.”

“Hey,” he said, smoothing out his light blue button up. He had a pair of nice jeans on, some red and blue socks on his feet, a pair of boots tucked away on the mat by the closet door. “You must be Ella and Anthony.”

“Well hello,” said Ella, pausing at the bottom of the stairs, looking him up and down. You rolled your eyes and smacked her arm.

“Ella. Stop staring at him like he’s meat,” you said. “Excuse her. She’s normally not such an idiot.”

“What? He’s hot,” she said as your mom stepped back over and tilted her head.

“Ella, that’s rude. I’m sorry for my daughter,” said your mom to Jensen. “Ella apologize.”

“Sorry,” she said sheepishly.

“It’s okay,” said Jensen with a chuckle. “I heard someone had a rough volleyball game yesterday and someone else had an even rougher AP History test.”

“Uh yeah,” said Anthony. “How’d you know that?”

“Your dad likes to brag about you guys,” said Jensen with a smile. “A lot.”

“Guys, please go set the table,” said your mom, shooing them out of the foyer. They both headed for the dining room, Jensen standing there with you looking around. 

“Your house is beautiful, Mrs. Y/L/N,” said Jensen, tilting his head up to look at the beams going up across the two story foyer area. “And massive.”

“Thank you and it’s Dani, Jensen,” said your mom, offering him a friendly smile. “Y/N. Entertain Jensen for a moment. We’re running a few minutes late with dinner.”

She went back towards the kitchen, Jensen walking slowly with you down the main hall, looking at a few pictures hung on the wall.

“Aw, that’s adorable,” he said, pointing at a picture of you and your dad from your first day of kindergarten. He didn’t look too much different nowadays, maybe a little less boyish but you’d seen him wear the same shirt on Tuesday to work. You had on a tonka truck shirt and purple shorts, hair pulled back in a high pony. You rolled your eyes and he let out a laugh. “You look cute.”

“Dad tried his best. Fashion has never been his expertise,” you said.

“When did your mom come into the picture?”

“I was ten. It all happened very quickly. They got married and started having kids soon after that,” you said. “Anthony and then Ella.”

“Even the perfect people’s lives aren’t as perfect as they seem,” he said, looking at one of you behind a film camera when you were little. “You’re lucky to have a dad like him.”

“I know I am,” you said. He smiled and walked down the hall some more, stopping at a few pictures, smirking at one in particular. “Oh shut up, Ackles.”

“That is a perfect picture if I do say so,” said Jensen with a laugh.

“I fully agree,” said your dad as he popped out from the kitchen. “She’s got a hell of a mess of bed head. Still does.”

“I can see,” he said, giving you a shit eating grin.

“I so love it when we have guests over,” you said, your dad pushing you both into the kitchen.

“What’s your poison, Jensen?” asked your dad, holding up a bottle of red wine. Jensen spun around in circles, taking in the space and the open family room. “Kid.”

“I’ll have a glass of whatever’s open,” said Jensen, returning his attention to your parents.

“I can get behind that. Y/N,” said your dad, sliding the bottle over to you. You hummed and poured four glasses, handing one to Jensen. “The house isn’t that nice.”

“You should see my apartment,” mumbled Jensen.

“You’re over in Sunrise Ridge, right?” he asked. Your ears perked up and your dad laughed. “I’m surprised you remember.”

“I remember the pool,” you said.

“You guys lived over there?” asked Jensen. Your dad nodded and took a drink. “Seriously?”

“We all start from somewhere,” said your dad. “Someday soon maybe you can get in a nicer place.”

“Yeah. I wouldn’t mind it,” he said. 

“How are you feeling, Jensen? Ethan said you were hurt on set this week,” said your mom as she worked on the other side of the island.

“Oh, I’m okay. A few bandages and I’m good as new,” said Jensen. “Y/N’s actually the one that made sure I didn’t get hurt worse. I think she got in a bit of trouble over it.”

“Yeah well, that’s my job,” you said as you sipped on your glass. 

“Y/N was almost a nurse actually before she worked in an office for a few years. She likes helping people,” said your mom. “We were a little surprised she followed her dad’s footsteps.”

“Well stories help people,” said Jensen. “They can be hopeful or inspiring. I mean, the story Y/N wrote was very inspiring. That helps people.”

Your parents glanced at one another and shared a look.

“I like him,” said your mom, Jensen chuckling. “Do you have a girlfriend, Jensen?”

“Uh, no. I’m on my own at the moment,” he said. 

“Enjoy being single,” said your dad. “Both of you.”

“Well the girls will be fawning over you once the movie comes out,” said your mom. “May need to look into a bodyguard.”

Jensen laughed but no one else did, his face quickly frowning.

“Wait, you’re serious?” he asked.

“Uncle Brody hangs out sometimes with dad or us,” you said, Jensen raising an eyebrow. “Uncle Brody is dad’s bodyguard if you didn’t catch that.”

“Being famous has its occasional flaws,” said your dad. “If this thing blows up though, which odds are it might, let me know and we’ll get you hooked up with someone. It’s not an all the time thing, I promise.”

“Here I thought I was just playing a character,” said Jensen.

“Are you playing Lyle?” asked Anthony as he walked in with Ella. Jensen spun around with a smile and hummed. “Wow, he’s even got green eyes like him too.”

“Don’t you hate when those pesky authors throw out specific character traits,” chuckled your dad. You gave him a look, your mom handing a few dishes to the other guys to carry into the dining room.

“I was willing to compromise on the eye color when it came to the actor I recall,” you said.

“Mhm. I recall that going a tad different,” he hummed, flipping something over in the pan. “Go on and take Jensen to the dining room. Dinner will be out in a few minutes.”

“It’s a little funny,” said Jensen as you headed out with him around the corner, finding a seat for him in there. “Seeing you not at work I mean. You’re always so in charge there. With your family you’re a lot more laid back.”

“If I’m being honest, it makes me horribly uncomfortable to be in charge like that,” you said.

“Why do it then?” he asked.

“Sometimes you have to do scary things for stuff you care about. They wanted to shred my book apart and make it a summer blockbuster,” you said. “They wanted to make Hale the bad guy at the end if you can believe it.”

“It would have ruined it,” said Jensen with a scoff. “What idiot came up with that? It’s so stupid. It would have made everything pointless.”

“I know. I fought to be director to save it and I won. Now I hope I don’t ruin it,” you said.

“You’ll be great,” said Jensen as he pulled out your chair for you. You sat down with a smile, Jensen taking the one across from you. “I promise.”

“Dinner was delicious,” said Jensen as he headed out a few hours later. “Thank you for having me over.”

“We’ll do it again sometime,” said your dad as your mom handed him his coat. “A home cooked meal is good now and then. I know your family isn’t around here. Stop over every once in a while. Dani knows how to cook a mean prime rib.”

“I may take you up on that,” said Jensen as he pulled on his jacket.

“Well and the kids adored you which they rarely do with their father’s guests. We’d much rather have you over than Gil Nicholas. He’s such a little douchebag,” said your mom. You smirked, Jensen chuckling.

“I’ve heard the rumors,” said Jensen. “Next time I’ll be sure to bring a dish over. My mom always said don’t come empty handed to a dinner party.”

“Your mother taught you very good manners,” said your mom. 

“Sure you don’t want to stick around for another drink?” asked your dad.

“I would but I have to drive,” said Jensen. “I appreciate the offer though. Another time for sure.”

“I understand. Well have a good rest of your weekend, Jensen. Try to take a little time to relax. We got another long week ahead of us,” said your dad.

“I think I’m going to head home too, try to catch up on sleep,” you said.

“Alright. You young guns go home. Y/N, text us when you get there,” he said. 

“Mhm. Night,” you said, heading outside, walking with Jensen down the front steps. “Hey, hold up a second.”

“Yes?” he asked, following you to your car. You opened the passenger seat and pulled out a small bag, handing it over to him. He tilted his head as he opened it up, smiling wide as he reached inside and pulled out his gift. “A first edition copy of The Dark Woods. I love it. You didn’t have to do that Y/N.”

“I even signed it for you,” you said, Jensen flipping open the front cover and glancing at you. 

“Did you just ask me out through a book?” he asked.

“Did it work?” you asked, Jensen smirking. “You had a point yesterday. I don’t think anyone is ever ready for a relationship or the timing is right. But I like you and you’re sweet and I haven’t liked anyone in years.”

“Do you want to go grab some dessert?” he asked with a big smile. 

“Is this a date?”

“Maybe,” he teased.

“Oh, well if you’re gonna tease, I can do that too,” you said, turning back into the car and pulling out another bag. He stared at it before he tore into it, wide eyed and looking over at you. 

“The Dark Night. A Lyle Sullivan story,” he said, staring at the plain black covered book. “What-”

“It’s the second book. That’s an unpublished copy of the first edition. Only about ten people have read it so far but I figured you might really enjoy it,” you said.

“This is literally the coolest gift I have ever gotten,” he said, looking the book over, already flipping through it.

“Okay, fanboy. Let’s grab some dessert and then you can spend all day tomorrow nose deep in that thing,” you said.

“Tomorrow? I’m staying up and reading this tonight!” he said with a laugh. “This is awesome. I can’t wait to check it out. After dessert of course.”
