Reading through the Geist: The Sin-Eaters Second Edition corebook to prep for a campaign I’m going to run this year (assuming I can get enough players) and. I’ve heard a lot of praise for this game I was shocked at how transparently it was written with an audience of GTSE First Edition fans in mind. YMMV, but there’s a ton of terms that aren’t really…explained until later (they throw around all the different Keys before even telling you what a Key is), and the lore is generally really weirdly interspersed. I mean, I’m going to change a decent amount of lore, as is my wont, so I would already have to type up a bunch of stuff… But now I’m probably going to have make a doc explaining the rules in an order that won’t confuse the players if they haven’t read a 300 page book.
#kitposting#geist the sin eaters#geist the sin-eaters#gtse#i’m really excited about my current chronicle concepts though…#thinking of really playing with the real-world concept of sin-eaters#(extinct rare custom in parts of britain (mostly wales irc) where a (poor) person gets paid to eat food over the body of the deceased#symbolically taking the sins of the dead upon themself so that the deceased gets a fast pass to heaven#but damning themselves in exchange for things they need to survive)#and making it so that the bargain is (more explicitly?) about helping the geist resolve their unfinished business in exchange for the human#surviving/resurrecting from their NDE.#does the parallel make any more sense this way? idk it makes sense to me.
