fletcher and sylvester are LITERALLY exes like there’s no other way i am willing to interpret this. like. the drama of it all. imagine you’re working for a rich eccentric family and fall in love with ur employer’s son but then you discover his family’s criminal network and betray him to expose it to the public and he’s never forgiven you and he’s, to quote brennan, obsessed with you and you are with him and ever since then you can never escape him because it’s always been him behind every single case you work on to the point where you will drag yourself to your death if it brings him down with you. also if we’re following the moriarty and sherlock parallels: “You know my powers, my dear Watson, and yet at the end of three months I was forced to confess that I had at last met an antagonist who was my intellectual equal. My horror at his crimes was lost in my admiration at his skill.”

just in case ur wondering i AM obsessed with sylfletcher and the inherent homoeroticism of arch-rivals. it is not my fault the final episode devolved into such fond superheroesque banter that only made me more insane. daisy/sylvester/fletcher detective murder throuple for the win
