when sydney was having a panic attack, i almost expected her to have a moment where carmy's voice calms her down—mostly because it would've been an obvious parallel—but that doesn't happen and, yeah, that makes more sense anyway. it makes the parallel more compelling because they don't match up. carmy used to be an inspiration to her, and now all he does is suffocate her creativity. he offers no safety anymore, not to sydney. and not to mention the fact that after carmy confronts david fields, nothing calms him down. nothing is left. they both have nothing to cling to ohhhhh my god this show has got me FUCKED up honestly
