Lilith was a paranoid creature.

In order to quell her mind of threats, she kept tabs on everyone in her circle and on the outskirts of it. Hunter, boy wonder, was always on the outside of her circle. That is, until he became wanted shortly after she entrusted him to help her find a relic for the Emperor.

That was when she became the most interested in a Golden Guard that she ever had been. They were one in the same, lap dogs to the mighty and powerful, so what did he do to spark that wrath? She elected to ignore it for her own selfish gain, but now the paranoia in silence was getting to her. Lilith invited the fallen, once golden boy in to her shadowy abode.

She made tea. She set the fire. She lulled him in with hope of a break through in their hunt.

"So, Hunter... I've given you enough lead with your personal life, but it seems the times are changing, for all of us." Lilith set her nightshade colored tea cup closer to his side of the table they gathered around. "I'm afraid I can't ignore it anymore.

Why is the Golden Guard a wanted man?"

The victory soured as soon as she'd won it. Mostly because Hunter looked kind of pathetic, his shoulders concave, his expression dour.

But that wasn't Kleo's business.

What she cared about was whatever was happening in the Boiling Isles and whether or not Hunter was part of it. (Considering his banishment, and his position in the Boiling Isles before that point...she was quite sure he had done something.)

"Interesting," Kleo hummed, feeling her own hurt over what was going on in her country bubbling in her stomach. "Doesn't really seem to be the case but thanks." She gave him a little flash of a closed-lipped, sarcastic smile as she slid up to the microwave.

Hi Candace,

Yes -- for starters, all familiars are capable of speech, and the spider is not. Additionally, even if the familiar were not officially a familiar yet, it would be a potential -- but potentials only flock to powerful and mature sorcerers who've fully mastered their specialty. Well, at least in my experience. And even with all that taken into account, the reagents around the spider do not have anything I've seen around other familiars.

I can ask other sorcerers to weigh in, if necessary, in case I've got something wrong. Let me know!

Kleo bristled as Hunter didn't move. Getting peevish with her. Kleo was not someone who got angry often, but she grew up in a large house with a large family--a large family who were very proud--and she knew how to stand her ground.

What gave him the right?!

He was the one who was an enemy of Belos and the Boiling Isles. Who was basically a fugitive on the run. An exile.

If anything, he should be extremely nice to her or she could make his like extraordinarily difficult with one phone call. Before, she hadn't really bothered or paid much attention, because it wasn't her business. But now, with her mother breathing down her neck, threatening to yank her out of school--

She was looking at Hunter like a problem to be solved.

Her eyes narrowed. "Leave it to you to make things inconvenient for the rest of us."

"Well, you can do that not in the way of the microwave, can't you?" Kleo said, her eyes narrowing slightly.

Usually two minutes wouldn't be that big of a deal. Kleo would leave and come back if someone else was using what she needed to. Or she would simply wait if it was someone she knew and could just chat with until it was her turn.

Hunter might've been that way once upon a time. He was her Merlin Fellow mentor after all. But now, Kleo had a sneaking suspicion he somehow had something to do with what was happening in the Boiling Isles and she didn't appreciate that if it was true. It was making her life--and her family's life--exceedingly difficult.

Kleo was starving.

She had accidentally stayed at the library far longer than she meant to, but she was really close to a break through...she could feel it! So, she'd ignored her prodding hunger as it rumbled at her stomach. And now, she was feeling a bit faint.

And in a sour mood.

Especially because when she checked her phone, she had another email from her mother. Another strongly worded letter to make her return home. She hadn't read all of it. Kleo felt like if she did, maybe she would crumble and return home.

Instead, she went to make food. Hopefully she would feel better afterwards.

"How much longer?" she said, somewhat sourly, not in the mood to wait.

Hello Candace,

Understood. In that case, I suppose I should tell you directly that Vanessa Doofenshmirtz's pet spider is simply that: a pet. I had heard she was keeping a familiar in the dorms, but it was not till she had a few of the Magick Merlin Fellows over that I was able to meet the spider and... well, I've met my fair share of familiars in my time and that arachnid is not one of them.

Apologies that you had to find out like this. I can only assume you also had no idea about this.
