To Gem: this bloke was also a tourist. Gem didn't recognize him. For better or worse, Gem knew everyone in this godforsaken town. So, anyone he didn't recognize was a tourist to him.

His expression stayed mild and mostly unimpressed. In fact, he was mostly interested in the dog. Bones. He'd always liked animals more than people. For obvious reasons.

At the mention of his name, though, Gem's head snapped up to see this fool grinning like a cat that had caught the canary. His eyes squinted a little. Most people who knew him were the kind of people who would be wary to run into him--his name traveled much more quickly on the lips of the scared and nervous.

Gem glanced blandly at the kid's hand. He was wearing his gloves. He could shake...Bram's hand. But, even with his gloves, Gem didn't like to touch people. Especially strangers.

"Pleasure," he said, by way of greeting, crossing his arms over his chest. "Clearly, I don't need to introduce myself. Do you know one of my brothers?" He needed to determine the level of relevancy.

Gem was someone who was always very aware of his surroundings.

It came with the territory of his magic. Always having to be cautious not to be too close to anyone. Even in a crowd of people, he was good at keeping his back to a wall, watching himself. Not to mention--prison kept you on your toes so you weren't caught off guard by someone.

So, Gem didn't need the sharp whistle to notice the dog barreling in his direction. Or the snowball, headed directly for him.

A fireball appeared in Gem's hand and he tossed it at the snowball. The two collided in the air, one canceling the other out as they exploded. Leaving the poor dog below coming to a stop and looking at where the snowball had been in confusion.

"Sorry, mate," Gem said to the dog, and meant it. Then, glanced at the owner who was coming in this direction. "Best watch where you're throwing those. This place is crawling with dumbass tourists during the winter."
