god i just. genuinely adore your duck characterization + that one set of drawings u did of him with american psycho influence. like it makes me imagine duck letting his grudges consume him and he ends up killing someone(or multiple people), only for his family or the railway to use money/influence to completely erase the whole ordeal from existence, even if he confesses. its a fascinating concept to me dFSVSVXVBX

this ask genuinely makes me think really hard about the collett family. they definitely, SURELY know that killing someone is wrong and immoral and all but duck is the family's poster child who's supposed to make the family proud and elevate its reputation. of course they won't always follow what they had taught duck, and duck is not aware of his family's dirty shortcuts just to save his (and the family name's) ass. like doctors who smoke, or priests that aren't very faithful to their beliefs.

of course there's also a little voice at the back of duck's mind that said "hey you just killed someone. that's so bad don't you think? you should definitely turn yourself in" but because his family uses its money and influence to make sure nobody talks about it but at the same it's most likely against one of the many ways of the great western, it just burrows its way into duck's brain and he automatically think that he's doing something good because of how much he trusts his family. strike hard whenever given the chance to, they said.

"oh, this is probably one of the many things of the great western way that wasn't taught to me when I was a child! that person just tarnished the name of the great western way and they had it coming. my family must be so proud of me. I'm doing such a great job being the hope of the great western legacy and I'm making all my family members and ancestors of the collett lineage a favor. what a simpleton, thinking they can make fun of the collett family and get away that easily. I was being patient. verrry patient. such is the psalm I present to my family."

just. imagining montague going absolutely Visceral on diesel, but just with his bare hands/blunt weapons. like beating him within an inch of his life, screaming about how much he hates him. its not enough to kill, but he makes damn well sure it hurts. a broken limb or two, busted nose and lip, some cracked ribs, some internal bruising.

after he relents diesel croaks out that he's going to tell everyone, get montague fired, ruin his whole reputation. ol monty just smiles n says 'youve already ruined my reputation. im just returning a favor.' believing his actions were so just everyone would agree with them, when in reality its just covered up by his family's money and influence. diesel can talk, but the colletts talk faster.

holy shit this is incredibly hardcore. and so terrifying in an awesome way. like even when diesel is in a tight spot where he's horribly injured he doesn't coward out for even a second and just keeps going on with his deceits. while duck definitely has the upper hand with him blindly believing that what he's doing is right and justified, yet unaware that his whole family is using their influence and power corruptly to save him. two unstoppable forces being thrown into a colloseum that is the sodor railways, with the bulletin board being the emperor watching and executing everything
