Somebody Told Me

Hey i'm doing great thanks for asking! I hope you're doing well too. This one was cute to write: thanks for being patient while I tried to get it out to you.

Summary: When nervous about your first date, Sam and Dean give you some pointers.

Warnings: None

Word Count: 800 (short and sweet)

"No. No way. You're not going."

Dean Winchester had always refused to let you go on dates no matter how hard he you had tried to convince him. And it was never because he was being cruel or unreasonable; it was because he couldn't fathom the idea of his little sister growing up. He was so completely used to having you and Sam by his side that when the pair of you began to become more independent, he became more reluctant to let you go. In truth, he was also scared. Scared that you would leave him or get hurt. His upbringing had always put him on edge, and the hunter life left little time for romance, although your brothers tried to fit it in anytime they could. But Dean wasn't just scared about you being hurt physically. He couldn't bare to see you heartbroken like he had been with Cassie, or Sam with Jessica. He wanted you to find your special person, he really did, but you had already been through so much that he was hesitant to let you wander into situations that could put you through more.

"Why not?" You whined, throwing your hands up in the air.

"Because I'm you're older brother and I said so."

"But Sammy said-"

"I said she could go, Dean." Sam added. He was glad to see you trying to get out there. Growing up sheltered made it difficult for you to keep friends, so he was eager to let you go on the date. Dean glared at him from across the room "I'm her older brother too, Dean."

"Yeah, but I'm the oldest so what I say goes."

"Why can't she go, Dean? She's not a baby anymore."

"I know that." Dean said, a little bit too loud for his liking. He felt guilty for not letting you go, but you were his little sister and he wanted to protect you. He knew exactly what 'boys could be like'; he was one. "It's just that I don't want some dumb boy going and-"

"It's not with a boy." You said meekly.

"You ready to go, Sweetheart?" Dean called out down the hall of the bunker. It had still taken some convincing and a lot of Sam's influence to persuade Dean to let you go on your date, but eventually he had let up.

You walked out of your room, a nervous grin on your face. Keeping your head low and your eyes on the ground you walked toward your brother.

"What's the matter?" He frowned.

"Nothing..."

"Don't tell me you've changed your mind." He nearly groaned.

"No. Nothing like that... it's just... what if she doesn't like me?"

"Oh kid. She's going to love you. Why would you ever think she wouldn't?"

"... I don't know."

"She's going to love you, kid. She's the luckiest person to even be going on a date with you." Sam reassured you.

You blushed at his kind words.

"The thing is...i've never been on a date..."

Realisation crossed Dean's face. He walked forward and wrapped his arm around your shoulder as he walked you toward the car. "Well, it's simple. Kind of."

"Treat her how you would want to be on a date. Flowers are always a good start." Sam said.

"Flowers." You noted. "Right."

"And compliment her. Tell her how beautiful she is. That's a good one for if you want to get-"

"Dean." Sam shot his older brother a look and you laughed.

"You're going to be fine, Kiddo." Sam clambered into the front seat.

Your pair of brothers continued to give you tips and reassurances as he drove towards the town. You sat in the back, clutching a bouquet of flowers you had picked out from the gas station on the way. As you neared the town your stomach began to flutter as anxiety washed over you. Sam noticed the way you tapped your foot anxiously and picked at your skin so he reached over the backseat to lay a gentle hand on your knee.

"She's going to love you, Y/N."

"Yeah." Dean added "Just be yourself. And if she doesn't appreciate you for who you are- which i'm sure she will, i'm just saying if - then you have two older brothers who will make sure she realises what she's missing."

You chuckled, opening the door of the car as it rolled to a stop.

"Go get her, Sweetheart."

Dean watched you proudly as you made your way over to the girl, presenting her with the bouquet you had brought for her. She grinned brightly and wrapped you up in her arms. Dean's heart swelled with pride. You were going to be just fine.

I just read a re-post of one of my post from a non-gaylor, and I would like to say it was a really good, respectful answer that explained their point of view perfectly and, by any means, this post is an attemp to start beef or anything.

Being said that, one of the points that really standed out to me was how some fans would "force a queer identity on her" (not quoting them, just summarizing) and how twisting lyrics to hold a narrative or using certain interpretation of a song, was not healthy, in reference to the connection I made to the album midnights and Taylors queerness.

Now, I would like to ask, isnt twisting a lyric to fit a narrative how people started saying that Taylor was the "argumentative antithetical dream girl" she refers to in hits different, when is crearly (and is a question of grammar and basic language comprension) refering to the muse of the song?

Bet I could still melt your world, argumentative antithetical dream girl. Are you kidding me?? How could you posible say this makes sense if she was refering to herself???

Then, the paternity test constantly done by swifties to look for the muse of a song is nothing more than a certain interpretation of the lyric to fit the narrative. So that is not a thing exclusive to gaylors, almost every swiftie does it.

Now, that is what I like to call a double standard. I am not shaming the original autor of the post that have inspired this text, but pointing out a more societal problem. Very often, speculation and shipping and reading into things, if done in a hetero way is okay but do not dare to do it in a way that relates to queerness.

About the "forcing a queer identity on her", there is a thing, done through history called flagging. Safo was doing it in ancient Grecee, so did Oscar Wilde and more recently Elton John or James Dean. There are signals of the queer community to signal discretely to other lgbtq+ that they are one of them.

Taylor is not subtle about her flagging. She went out in a bi pride colored jacket to sing "and you can want who you want, boys and boys and girls and girls". She did sing about wearing someone like a necklace. She did spray paint her paint the bi colors to her gay pride music video. Use the lyric hair pin drop more than once. She puts lesbian flag colors as the main lighting in her world wide tour. And much much more. Is obvious, really out there for the people who want to see it to see.

Once you see that, you have no option but to hope she is queer; because if she was not, she would only be a straight girl that harmed the queer comunity by taking all the simbolisim that lgbtq+ people have built througt the ages and making it hetero to the mainstream, erasing the very little history the comunity has managed to create in the opressed world that it had have to endure.

So, even if I think that the answer to my previous post was really well written and respectful, I do not think it is a really nuance take.

Tell us something haunted! Personal haunting, favorite haunted story, etc. In the house I grew up in, I could hear "distant party voices" only in specific spots in the house. My dad could hear them too. We don't know where they came from. But they sounded muffled and it was a bunch of voices, as if people were at a party in another room. We were the only people to have lived in that house.

What hobbies do you have? I moderate this blog! I also am learning to crochet, I play guitar, and enjoy caring for my plants. Does being a Swiftie count as a hobby? I think it does. (most Swiftie-posting on this blog is from me!)

Favorite music: Taylor, duh. But also really into Maisie Peters, Fall Out Boy, and Sara Bareilles.

Favorite movie: Oooh this one is tough. Legally Blonde, Pride and Prejudice (2005), and The Holiday.

What's a personal positive haunting that's happened to you? It can be something small! A personal positive haunting would be back in February when my friend and I got second-chance Eras Tour tickets! hi ! 🎃 for supernatural !

i love horror movies and like 90’s -2000’s romcoms, i’ve watched all the classics ofc !! i love cringey disney shows, which is a weird combination. my fav shows though r supernatural, gilmore girls, boy meets world, and stranger things, and my latest obsession is star wars !

i like a lot of music but i don’t listen to country or rap. i like indie/classic rock but at the same time i love one direction and taylor swift. i am pretty into supernatural lore kind of stuff, like creatures and stuff r so interesting to me. i love rocks and astrology type stuff- (im an aries btw ) and i sketch sometimes, i don’t think im too bad at it but i mostly draw flowers and plants. i can’t draw people for the life of me. i’ve been a dancer for years and im mostly into hipop and modern dance bc i suck at ballet .

im pretty quiet and reserved if i don’t know u , but when i’m comfortable w someone i probably seem insane . i do love talking to ppl and i hate being lonely even though i am alone most of the time . ( i feel like alone and lonely r different )

i’m kinda into reading and i love romance and dystopian books and movies , but i wouldn’t say i’m a bookworm bc i go thru phases .

my style is kinda like utah girl if u know what i mean , like wide leg jeans, sweaters, leggings, converse, and i love jewlery. even though i’m not from there . but i love that style i think it’s so cute , and the downtown girl/2000’s aesthetic ! i’ve always wanted that ‘teenage love’ ride or die kind of romance. like fun and playful, but meaningful and sweet. my love language is probably physical touch and words of affirmation!

for physical stuff i’m like medium brunette and i’ve never dyed my hair, and it is pretty long. i have naturally curly/wavy hair too, hazel eyes, freckles, peachy/tan skin, like 5’1 or 5’2 and around like 110 pounds i think (i don’t rlly check)

i have a headcannon that dean is 200% a directioner and/or a swiftie. he would blast the songs and sing along with you whenever you wanted!! dean also 100% watches romcoms and he WILL cry at all of the sappy parts. dean fucking loves it when you dance. it’s completely mesmerizing to him. “how can you move like that???”

he also has the love language of a man who has been under a rock for his entire life and hasn’t felt love romantically ever so he touches you all the time. even if it’s just simple hand holding. he clings to you and cuddles you in bed all the time. he just needs the touch of a person and you’re his person!! he also def pokes your freckles everyday just to me cute or he kisses every single one on your face.

PLEASEEEE let him do styles to your hair!!! after a long hunt all he wants is a beer, to cuddle, and to play with your hair. teach him how to braid and he will take that to the grave. he also gives you his clothes to wear all the time <3

Taylor Swift songs that are Ronance in some way or another

this is a self-indulgent post

Gorgeous, obviously, do I need to say more? Because I will: This song is "told" through Nancy's perspective and I think it demonstrates the frustration that Nancy had with Robin at the beginning perfectly. Also these parts that I don't see people talk about: And you should think about the consequence // Of you touching my hand in the darkened room ...DO I NEED TO REMIND EVERYONE OF THE HANDHOLD?! Along with many other lines in the song that aligned with Ronance, such as the boyfriend line and the ocean blue eyes line

Next is Style, admittedly, this is really just a personal thing, I like to headcanon that one of Robin's favourite movies is Rebel Without a Cause and that she relates to Jim Stark (played by James Dean) and just... the overall vibe of the song, I imagine them just cruising in Steve or Nancy's car, blasting this at full volume.

Labyrinth, yet another Nancy Wheeler POV song... idk what to tell you, she's just very Swiftie core/j This song reminds me of when Vecna is defeated and Nancy is navigating her sexuality, the line You know how scared I am of elevators // Never trust it if it rises fast // It can't last just makes me think of Nancy trying to stop having a crush on Robin because her previous relationship never lasted, if you get what I mean? Another line that speaks Nancy on an astronomical level is You know how much I hate that everybody just expects me to bounce back // Just like that.

A Robin POV song at last!!! Gold Rush, Robin is an evermore girlie, this isn't projection... totally not. This song is more based on s3, than s4. She just envies Nancy, like I have a feeling, she wants to be like her in a way that she's accepted; What must it be like // To grow up that beautiful? // With your hair falling into place like dominos Nancy, in her eyes, at this time, is the epitome of a perfect girl and perfect girls are accepted by people. The ending of the song is just Robin realizing that she could never be with Nancy, because of their circumstances.

Back to Nancy now... The Great War, of course let me start with the line My hand was the one you reached for // All throughout the Great War going back to the handhold once again, because it is precious to me. A lot of the lyrics can be applied to Ronance scenes with this one. Like And maybe it's the past that's talkin' // … // Tellin' me to punish you for things you never did The library scene, Nancy being jealous of Robin because she thought she was dating Steve. Broken and blue, so I called off the troops // That was the night I nearly lost you The scene where Robin first got caught by the vines. I vowed I would always be yours // 'Cause we survived the Great War This goes back to the whole s5 theory of how Nancy will be made to choose between Robin/Steve/Jonathan and she will choose Robin, because she didn't choose Barb and it will be all symbolism and shit lmaoo.

AND THE LAST ONE, THE FINALE, THE CHERRY ON TOP

Ivy, the Emisue anthem, if you will. I can write an essay on this one... every line fits with Nancy so well.

Oh, goddamn // My pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand - Nancy finally has someone to confide in, someone who she feels will understand her on such a deep level, not just because of her trauma, but because she's the first girl after Barb she's been friends with. Robin listens to her problems, doesn't try to solve them, she's there for her when she needs to vent. Taking mine, but it's been promised to another Nancy is still in a relationship with Jonathan, her "hand has been promised to another". Oh, I can't // Stop you putting roots in my dreamland // My house of stone, your ivy grows // And now I'm covered in you She's tried to push Robin away, but Robin doesn't budge, she's not leaving her no matter how much Nancy is trying to push her away. Nancy's trying to not get attached to Robin, but Robin just by being herself has planted herself into Nancy's heart and is taking up the space in Nancy's mind and that only grows and grows. I wish to know // The fatal flaw that makes you long to be // Magnificently cursed I take this line in the context of Ronance 2 ways. 1. Nancy doesn't understand how Robin can be so cursed with herself as to want to be friends with her, "magnificently" specifically because Nancy is still thankful for her. 2. The way Robin's actually ok with being a lesbian in the 80's, of course, she's not out, but she still knows she only likes girls and isn't trying to change that (unlike Nancy). Crescent moon, coast is clear // Spring breaks loose, but so does fear both the crescent moon and spring have been used in a lot of literary works as a symbol for a new beginning with Robin, Nancy sees a new beginning, she sees it very clearly, but she's scared, of her sexuality, of what the people will think, of hurting Jonathan, of ruining this new found beginning etc. So yeah, it's a fire // It's a goddamn blaze in the dark // And you started it // You started it // So yeah, it's a war // It's the goddamn fight of my life // And you started it // You started it Nancy is at war with herself, she has feelings for Robin, but she thinks she's not supposed to (internalised homophobia), she's at war with herself because she doesn't know what happens next, because of Robin.

I personally feel like it makes so much sense! Idk if you are a swiftie but it’s like the phrase “how can you know everything at 18, but nothing at 22”. (Nothing New is SO Rory coded).

When you are a teenager you can feel like the world is at your feet, you know what you want to do, how to achieve it and you FIGHT for it.

When you get a little bit older, you start your first job, expand your horizons, you start to see that not anything is as simple as you once thought. Rory believed she was really smart, and if she worked hard she would be the BEST. Which is reinforced by all of her peers growing up.

But she got to university maintaining that naivety and started to lose it going along. First by meeting Logan, who she has canonically said is smarter than her & who, at the time, put little effort into what he did to be so good. It’s typical of people who were big fish in a small pond, that when they go to the “ocean” they realise they might have not been as special as they once thought.

And I personally think that Rory already had doubts about her ability and her intention to be a journalist BEFORE the work for Mitchum. But then when she started working with him & he criticised her (mind you, first ever PERSON to criticise her, and also an authority figure!!! So an opinion Rory thinks really matters), she confirmed all of her fears.

I believe her lashing out with the boat is most of all a symptom of Rory’s immaturity because of how spoiled with praise she has been all her life. In some ways you can see the contrast with Logan, who arguably has been as spoiled as Rory, but in completely different ways: Logan has been spoiled with things since forever, but never with praise, and you can see how that has made him form his own sense of self regardless of other’s opinions, whether you like him or not you can tell he is very spoiled but also VERY self aware (evidenced when he called out Rory in her being also a trust fund kid).

Rory, on the contrary, might have been less spoiled in material things but has been 100% spoiled in praise — she expects it and DEPENDS on it to form her identity. And i feel like college is the first time she starts to doubt herself, because she can’t rely on external people validating her actions.

I adore Rory for many reasons, but contrary to most of the fandom i believe her final season’s arc makes SO much sense. Maybe it is because i relate a lot, but it shows the typical “gifted kid” who was mature for her age, so everyone praised her to death, and in some ways, the first time she really gets out of her comfort bubble & close to someone who has an authority on a matter (journalism in this case) & has no special care for Rory, she completely breaks down. It’s impostor syndrome 100%.

And the way she reacts i feel is very Rory — she is very, very impulsive. Contrary to what people think in the show, we as viewers can totally see she is more Lorelai than both of them believe. (Perfect example: going to nyc with jess!!! And ofc all of the Dean is married stuff). She has Lorelai’s childishness and capriciousness. So her reaction totally makes sense to me seeing her previous track record.

Anyways, this is obviously just my opinion on the matter written in an incoherent, unreviewed rant, but i always felt bittersweet about Gilmore Girls ending, because i always thought it was very, very realistic, despite the not so happy ending. And I personally love Rory, a very flawed character but all in all just a girl struggling in life.

I still believe that Rory would not steal a yacht after receiving criticism; that makes literally no sense. She would’ve wanted to prove Mitchum wrong—she would’ve worked even harder. Rory would’ve wallowed and been sad for a while, yes, but she wouldn’t resort to stealing. She’d make a hundred plans to get her life back on track, she’d apply to more internships. Rory would not have quit Yale, she would’ve only worked harder. Remember when Paris was making her life at Chilton a nightmare? Did Rory waver, cry, and steal something? No! She fought and worked harder. Remember when she got a D on a paper at Chilton? Did she give in and quit? No! She studied her ass off. I get Mitchum was someone she sought approval from, but how huge her spiral was because of this just didn’t seem like her to me.

The silence in the cab on her way back to her apartment gave her the quality time she needed to think. In a few weeks, Meg was getting married and now, since they knew, Y/N had to show up with her 'boyfriend’. She racked her brain, scrambling to come up with a good excuse because it was all a big lie.

Every time, however, she reached two conclusions - either make a fool of herself and admit that she lied or tell everyone that she broke up and be the one person at the wedding that everyone looks down on with pitiful eyes.

There was a third option, which was risque as hell too, cause Y/N barely knew the man and their first meeting did not go so well, but there was definitely something about him that made her blush every time she thought of him.The way he carried himself and the dominating vibes he gave off, sent shivers down her spine. Maybe he wasn't a morning person and she did start blabbering in the elevator the minute she stepped in. She swallowed hard when she remembered the way her name rolled off his tongue. ‘How did he know?’ She wondered.

As Y/N boarded the elevator, she thought about how, she wanted nothing more than to see a certain green-eyed man again. She had been residing in this complex for almost three months but she had never seen the man before. Maybe he was new here, in this apartment building, who knew? Mind plagued by millions of thoughts, Y/N trudged down the empty hallway to her cosy little home.

“Who invented these fucking heels?” She grumbled as she freed her feet out of the painful, yet pretty high heels when she reached the comfort of her own home. Shrugging her coat off, she relaxed as her ass hit the soft mattress of the couch.

“I need a date in seven weeks.” She said, making a mental note of the wedding date. This was the only wedding she ever looked forward to attending where she knew she wouldn't have to face the constant stream of questions involving her dating life and a particular man. All she ever wanted was to be with her close friend on the best day of her life.

“First dress fitting - tomorrow at 10.” Her phone lit up with an incoming text and groaning, she dropped her head backwards. Y/N couldn't even skip the wedding if she wanted to. She was one of the bridesmaids and it wouldn't be fair to both Meg and Cas, if she didn't attend it. A smile graced her frowning face when she remembered the time Cas proposed to her friend on Valentine's Day. Cliche- Y/N would say, but deep down, she knew she just wanted what Cas and Meg had.

A sigh left her lips as she got up, still in her work clothes. She put on some light music as she went into the bathroom to freshen up. After the long, tiring day she had, a warm bath and a Ryan Gosling movie were very much needed. Quickly stripping off, she stepped into the tub. She leaned her head backwards, closing her eyes, as the warm water soothed her aching body and her troubled mind.

“Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone,” Y/N sang along the song, slightly off tune but she didn't care, as she stepped out of the bathroom after some time. She let go of the towel wrapped around her body and stepped into a pair of comfortable pjs. Getting a box cold pizza out from her refrigerator, she turned up the volume of the music playing in her apartment.

“He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring, and said,” Y/N yelled out the chorus when she started to heat up the pizza. Her private singing session, however, was cut short by a sudden knock on the door. She grudgingly pressed pause as she walked up to the door to find out the unwanted visitor.

“Excuse me- Ms L/N?” As soon as she opened the door, she was met by a very familiar, deep baritone that had been haunting her.

“Dean Winchester. And please, call me Y/N,” she breathed out. The formality in Dean’s voice made her cringe. Her eyes fell as she took in the man in front.

Dean had gotten rid of the dapper grey suit and slipped into a much laid back look. A black polo t-shirt fitted over his body and plain blue jeans hugging his bowlegs perfectly. The look on his face mirrored the one from the morning and Y/N wondered if he would look better with a smile on. Her train of thoughts were again rudely interrupted by the man speaking.

“I assume you're having somewhat of a casual evening,” Dean said, his hands waving to point at her pjs, making her suddenly self-conscious of her clothing state.

“Y-yeah. How may I help you?” She asked, genuinely curious.

“See, I moved in the apartment right beside you a few days ago, and I think you might have noticed sometime or the other that there are other people living in this building as well,” Dean said, his face not imparting any sort of emotions, “You might be having a casual evening but I can assure you that there's at least one person who is certainly not. Turn the music level down.”

Y/N’s mouth fell open at Dean’s words but she wasn't going to turn down the volume just because a man turned up at her door, asking her to do so. His words were sharp, but his tone was downright rude, and it was definitely not because he wasn't a morning person. The least he could have done was ask her nicely.

“Well, listen here pal, no one's having a problem, other than you. So you can go back to your room, put on some earplugs and do whatever the heck you were doing before you decided to make my day more awful,” Y/N said, taking a threatening stance with hands on her hips, a deep frown on her face.

“I'll file a noise complaint report against you.” Dean warned with his pointer finger right in front of her eyes.

“It's just music. Learn to appreciate the little things in life.” She said while rolling her eyes.

“I'm a very busy man and I got work to do, alright? And speaking about music, play something actually good like Zeppelin and people will personally come up to thank you. This song is not even a classic.” Dean spat back.

“Believe me or not, everyone is a Swiftie at heart.” She smirked with a sarcastic shrug. Dean’s lips twitched in anger as his face grew more rigid before he said, “If you don't lower the volume, expect a noise complaint report delivered with your newspaper tomorrow.” He walked away before Y/N had a chance to even think of a comeback.

Glancing over his shoulder, Dean went inside his own apartment room right beside Y/N’s. She glared at the empty hallway before swinging her door shut and walked back to her room towards her amazon echo, turning the music down anyway. She couldn't risk getting a report filed against her, and the man appeared to be dead serious about what he threatened to do.

“Stupid Dean Winchester.” She grumbled.

Squinting at the clock, Y/N woke up the next morning to loud bangs on her door. 7:30 am, it read. Removing the covers, she immediately shivered when the cool air hit her bare legs.

Hair still a mess, she grabbed her robe from the nearby chair, putting it on along with her slippers before she warily made her way to the door. “Dean will be complaining now for sure.” She grumbled as she unlocked her door to reveal her friend standing on the other side in a dishevelled state, eyes red like a mad woman.

“Meg?” Her face scrunched up in confusion as the said woman shoved past her into her apartment. “You’re wearing your shirt inside out.” Y/N closed the door behind her as Meg took a seat on the couch.

“Can I have some water?” Y/N dumbfoundedly nodded at her friend’s request and went to her kitchen to retrieve a glassful. Handing the glass over to her, she sat down next to the brunette who gulped down the entire glass of water in one go. Setting the utensil down on the wooden coffee table in front, she turned towards Y/N with slightly glossy eyes as she spoke, “I don’t want to go and finalise the dresses.”

Her words elicited a laugh from Y/N before she said, “Okay, bridezilla, we can reschedule it. Cas should better watch out!” She chuckled out the last words.

“No, y-you don’t understand!” Meg grabbed her friend’s hands, surprising the latter, “I don’t want to try the dress on at all.” Y/N was utterly surprised over her friend's outburst.

“Honey, you have a wedding in less than two months.” Y/N cooed as a few drops of tears rolled down the bride-to-be’s cheeks. “Meg, talk to me. Did something happen between you two?”

The woman shook her head, letting the other lady in the room know that she didn't have to kick Cas’ ass to her relief, but it confused her even further. Since their engagement five months ago, Meg had been over the moon and had started planning every minute detail with high precision and finesse for her big day.

“What if I'm making a huge mistake?”

“Don’t put me in this position. You know how I am when it comes to-”

“But I need to know, and I trust you.”

Y/N pressed her lips into a thin line before she said, “Cas is the best thing that has ever happened to you-”

“You barely even knew me when I started to go out with him. We have only been together for fifteen months - five of which I have spent being engaged to him. What if I regret this later?” Meg's words were correct. Y/N used to barely talk to her when she had started dating Cas, but all through those eighteen months, as she slowly got to know the pair well enough, she knew that they were clearly meant to be in it for the long haul.

“But I have never seen you regret your decision to be with Cas even once… so why start now?.” Y/N politely answered, her hands letting go of her distraught friend's iron-clad grasp and reaching out to soothe her.

“Sometimes even if you have been with your man for what feels like forever, marrying him might seem to be the worst decision you can ever make, but it doesn't matter how long you have been with him. When you know, you know. Follow your heart.” Meg looked up at her as she mulled her words over before speaking.

“I love him.” She said.

“Then go, be with him.” Y/N smiled. Crisis averted.

A smile started to appear on Meg’s tear stained face as her eyes twinkled with a suggestive glimmer in them. Fiddling with her sparkling ring, she said, “Dean’s good for you. Don't let him go.”

Y/N was taken aback by her friend's supposition. She sat up straight in her seat as heat crept up her neck. Her mind was stuck in a turmoil as she tried to come up with an appropriate response.

“He’s not-Dean is not-” She stuttered, the words got stuck in her throat when she tried to think of a decent excuse. Maybe, this was the universe giving her a chance to take back everything she had said before, but the disheartened look on her friend’s face made her rethink her decision. After all, a little white lie never hurt anybody. “Yeah, he is a good man.” Meg smiled as Y/N played her into the deception game once again.

“Will he be at the wedding?”

“I don’t know yet.”

“What are you waiting for? Unless he is a figment of your imagination, ask him! I want to meet this certain Dean Winchester.” Meg giggled.

“I don’t have such vivid imaginations, Meg.” Y/N let out a nervous chuckle. She was now being given an ample amount of opportunities to tell the truth, then why was it so hard for her to deny everything she had said? Maybe she liked living in this utopian world where for once, no one deemed her as the broken, pathetic girl who failed to make a man stay. Maybe deep down, she wanted this damn lie to be true.

“I’ll ask him but you do know how men are about weddings.” She replied, having no knowledge of how to keep her end of the promise.

Dean is Woman Coded Shrek

Okay as promised here’s a rlly quick analysis/justification of why dean is shreks arch but woman coded:

(I’m gonna be summarizing a lot of the points I make in my SPN/Shrek essay)

Shrek and Dean’s childhood are incredibly similar, both abandoned by their parent(s) and told they had to be loners and assume the roll they where given (shrek as a monster dean as a hunter). However we see one big divergence in how Shrek and Dean are written and it starts in their childhood. Dean is forced to be a mom to Sam. Where as shrek has to live alone and only fend for himself, Dean has to assume a parental (motherly) roll to Sam. The main difference between these two characters is that Dean is Woman Coded.

In that he’s nurturing, he had to take care of Sam and he adopts every queer woman he even happens upon, and so much more that people with a far more in depth knowledge of spn than me have covered. So I’m going to be looking at plot specifically. 

As I said before we have Sam, where as Shrek has no one. Shrek assumes the lone wolf version of this story where as Dean takes on the famous “Eldest Sister has to raise the family” roll. And this difference influences their entire personalities. The part of his identity that Shrek has to escape is how he thinks he should be alone and hated where as Dean’s is that he needs to take care of everyone else because he doesn’t matter (something that society does to women all the time). Dean’s acceptance of his found family should have (had the cw not been a bitch) about him being loved by a family that also chose him. Where as shreks was about learning to love others and accept help and affection (something men typically struggle with).

We also get to see this later on as their arch’s unfold, specifically with their “damsel in distress” situations. Now i should say DEAN IS NOT FIONA, Cas is, But Dean is wearing the pink satin panties in this relationship/story. Dean is the one who’s rescued by Castiel and that’s what starts his arc of self acceptance and realizing he can be loved (by the gay angel). Where as Shrek’s was the opposite, his was to rescue Fiona and realize that he could care about other people and that he could do good things. 

Not to mention that part of what makes dean “other” from the roll he’s supposed to play is partially that he care about his appearance and typically girly things (swiftie dean), where as what Shrek is shunned from society for (although it feeds into his roll) is the fact that he’s a huge slob and well, an ogre (metaphorically as well as physically).

When I was making the OG essay I was trying to figure out how to make the way their narratives are different make sense within the analysis and i stumbled onto this so i hope y’all liked it >:)

My thoughts on Folklore

This is about to be a long ass Taylor Swift post, so strap in for the ride.

I along with many others were going about their business (looking at Adam Driver gifs) before my phone alerted me to the notification that Taylor Swift was releasing her eighth studio album Folklore the very next day. Chaos everywhere, my sleep schedule went out the window as I went into the Swifties tag to see how everyone else was dealing with this news. So I eagerly awaited 2PM (Australian time) for the album to drop and after a few listens (sleep got the better of me through my first listen due to my previous sleep schedule), I eventually picked out some album highlights.

The 1 - I love how freely she’s cussing on the album (a point that will be reitriated throughout), and I know Gossip tabloids and casuals will be shooketh because they’d think Taylor & Mr. Alwyn have ‘broken up’ due to Taylor’s personable lyrics but this gave me Better Man vibes. Remember when the Bridge said ‘You might have bern The One if you were a Better Man’ and this is basically that without the angsty fire.

Cardigan - I LOVE how Alternative Folk fits Taylor’s voice, it sounds like she’s telling us a story and we are entrapsed by her. It also works perfectly with the love triangle songs, which I had to understand a bit through a few listens.

The Last Great American Dynasty - The moment I saw this track, I knew it would be epic. I pictured her taking the piss out of the Trump family, but what I got was an awesome song about the woman who owned Taylor’s Rhode Island house and the antics she got up to. I love the descriptors she used when describing the weddings and the party’s Rebekah & Bill had and especially the bridge of antics Rebekah got up to later in her time. The ‘And then it was bought by me.’ Part of the bridge, I love a good twist!

Exile - OH MY LORD. When I saw Skinny Love Bon Iver on this album, I knew this would be something and low and behold it was. The concept of the man in exile in her intro caught my attention but seeing it up close and personal was amazing. The vocals interlaced with each other was perfection, especially as Taylor responds to Bon Iver. I really connected it to the struggles of Seth Rollins in the latter half of 2019, how he seemed to be exiled from the WWE, how his initial opponent Kevin Owens was having his flaws disregarded to drag Seth down, the ‘Always Keep Fighting’ shirt that he wore (raising money for mental health chairties) adding insult to injury for Seth, who had even briefly deactivated his twitter to clear his headspace following attacks/death threats from a fellow wrestler’s fan base. ‘I gave you every sign’ rings true here, the man was struggling and no one seemed to care.

My Tears Ricochet - My WWE ass was happy to see another Wrestler reference after The Man. So this was an interesting look, but I got another story that intrigued me, a man having been involved in a tumultous connection with the songs narrator showing up to her funeral to save face. Listeners drew parraells with the recent Masters drbarkle with Scott Borchetta, head of Big Machine Records with whom Taylor was once signed to, and I have to say it’s a good perspective to take.

Mirrorball - This one took a while but I ended up loving the fact she could sing from a Mirrorball’s perspective and still make an epic song. I loved the part about always fitting in with the crowd because at functions/discos where mirrorballs are used, the lights will change to fit the mood and being a reflective surface, Mirrorballs will reflect the colour change.

Seven - This was a nice ditty about a past friend Taylor once had. I really loved the line ‘Please picture me in the weeds before I learned Civility’ it gives a more sophisticated parraell to Never Grow Up.

August - This is the second in the love triangle songs, and I loved the storytelling aspect as Taylor paints the picture of an affair that Summer Nights would quake in it’s boots if it heard about it. She sweeps up the adience in the Mistresses POV, showcasing the sweetness of love and the sting of toxcisity.

This is me trying - Where are those who said Taylor Swift plays the victim in her songs? Because this is for them. Taylor states in this her regrets of wasted potential, broken relationships etc. at the end of the day no matter how many awards she has, records she breaks, or money she possesses, Taylor Alison Swift is a human being, and we should give her boundries to grow and flourish.

Illicit Affairs - This track title also intrigued me, and whilst it does what the title says, and discusses the highs and lows of the secret passions of mismatched lovers, the second verse & bridge stood out to me the most. The way Taylor’s voice went up on him in the line ‘Leave the perfume on the shelf that you picked out just for him.’ Drew my attention as she later did the same thing on the word high, this had to mean something. And given that we don’t know the narrators gender, this could also be a song about a closeted gay man who’s found love but is struggling to accept this relationship. Whereas the bridge reminded me a lot of the Adam & Hannah breakup in Season 4 of Girls in the episode Sit In where Hannah denounces Adam’s nickname of kid, which he had called her by since the first season, with the episode before that showing her heartbroken that Adam has gotten a new girlfriend behind her back and thus turns into a mess locked in her apartment for a day and two nights. it was a heartbreaking part of the show, one that shifted it into a new era for better or for worse, and the entirety of this reasonated with me.

Invisible String - Around this point was where melotonin kicked in for me on my first listen, so I’ve heard this less than the other songs, but I love how it discusses her relationship with Joe & how for better or for worse, he is hers. It continued the theme with them on Lover of not having a great picturesque love, but having ups and downs like any couple.

Mad Woman - The calmer sister of The Man, she won’t throw big production and actions around, she can take you down with words alone. The track stings brutally as Taylor takes down sexism as it exists in our world today, and even sadly paints a visual of how it must have been for women back in the day fighting for equal rights. ‘Does a scorpion sting when fighging back?’ Line was annother connection, as I was reminded of Vanessa Ives from Penny Dreadful and how the animal symbology that stuck with her was a scorpion, used to great effect in the Season 2 finale in a confrontation with Lucifer’s makeshift doll of her. The chorus line ‘And you’ll poke the bear till her claws come out, and you’ll find something to wrap your noose around’ stuck with me on my listens, and really shows how men will strike and then run away saying ‘it’s a joke, she’s hysterical’ etc. the part about women loving to hunt witches also reminded me of a Doctor Who episode called ‘The Witchers’ and also reminded some listeners of how Demi Lovato took Scooter Braun’s side in the Licencing debarkle, in fact in the first part of the bridge, the song also has a double meaning. It’s also about the state of affairs following Taylor’s songs being stolen from her. The part in the bridge about the wives knowing about their Spinster husbands having affairs and not wanting to show their anger for fear of being outcast like the titular woman is angsty but so lyrically genius.

Epiphany - I had to listen to this a couple of times but once I realised what it was about, I was in shock. This is about her Grandfather Dean who she mentioned in the intro who fought in a war. The song paints the war setting with the helmet, the flesh wound and the rifle within the first few words, and I especially loved the line ‘And some things we don’t speak of.’ because it talked about how some soldiers develop PTSD from their experiences, yet don’t want to discuss them for fear of being perceived as weak. Also the outro beat sounds like a radar scanning for a plane, and the beat of the drum sounds like bombs exploding, really adds to the War theme.

Betty - This is the final track in the love triangle story as it tells the story of James as he fights to earn back Betty’s love after he has an affair with Inez. The eventual pitfalls of Illicit Affairs have come for Inez which causes her to tell Betty of their affair, which is a nice link. This songs gives a classic Greese/Christine/Cheesy 80s Film meets Trixie Mattel vibe which I loved. I also loved the callbacks to August & Cardigan, along with the casual F bomb droppings.

Peace - This is another sweet love song for Joe which calls back to Cruel Summer, Cornelia Street & Dancing With Our Hands Tied as Taylor struggles with the connection she has established with Joe, and contemplates escaping, but eventually knows she’ll stay. How the entire world will be on them, but she’ll be by his side through it all. Similar to Invisible String but different all at once and a perfect penultimate track to lead to the last song.

Hoax - The sweetness brings us to the double edged sword of a closing track. Giving a shattering realisation that love can be tricky at times, the references to Call It What You Want ‘I am ash from your fire’, The Archer ‘You know the hero died so what’s the movie for?’ & ... So It Goes ‘You knew you won so what’s the point of keeping score’. Taylor loves Joe so much that when they fight it’s as painful as when she became Pop Culture Enemy #1 back in 2016. But no matter what, she says herself ‘Don’t want no other shade of blue but you. No other sadness in this world would do’ relationships are always painful, there is no happy endings all round, but there is still love to be found.

All in all this is an incredible album & @taylorswift you have created magic and I hope you know that myself & all the Swifties are so proud of you for flexing your writing skill and crafting such a stunning album.

The Archer is everything. everything! and it is so, so much for Dean.

this is a miniature essay about what The Archer means to me personally, but the day she released that song (I was going to say “last year,” but no, that’s not accurate now! how are we into 2021?!) is emblazoned in my memory. The way it spoke to my particular grief and anxiety, to things I’ve lost and things I’ve wanted to keep. I sat and just cried over it. I never grew up, it's getting so old...I hate my reflection for years and years. I wake in the night, I pace like a ghost, the room is on fire, invisible smoke... it’s impossible to rank Taylor songs accurately, but The Archer became the song for me (tied closely with mirrorball now. tell the younger me that State of Grace would ever be replaced as the pinnacle of my list and I would not have believed you. she did that).

so January 2020 comes and Taylor releases Miss Americana, and near the end of the film, it’s The Archer that is used as framing for what she’s experiencing. combat, I’m ready for combat. I say I don’t want that, but what if I do?...

somehow, I hadn’t associated it with him yet (considering how often Dean feelings hit me with songs? I think it was because I did get so personally spellbound by it), but 15x11 aired the day before, and had I been here, it wouldn’t have been a secret that I was struggling with a lot of what they had decided to do in S15, with seeing Dean going through it like he was and his wellbeing feeling so tenuous, and that was the last episode that was going to air for a few weeks, as we hurtled towards the ending (this was before we knew what was coming, for him and for the world as a whole). My difficulties in regards to writing/plotting/characterization leading up to it aside, 15x11 is the episode that makes the affirmation about the boys being true heroes, because they choose to save people, because missteps and manipulations and even hopelessness don’t crush them, because they’ve seen and been capable of so much darkness and it doesn’t extinguish the light.

for some reason, the proximity of the two clicked, and I went, “oh...I love this song for me, but I also love this song because it’s subliminally, profoundly a Dean song.”

Who could ever leave me, darling, but who could stay?

I’ve though of him, probably more than myself, every time I’ve played it since (which is a lot). following the ending...it takes on a new facet and I’ve tried to not let that ache too much, but sometimes it’s just...the inescapable undertow.

I never play minecraft coz I once made this whole world took me more than a year, I built this house and a underground base underneath it with lava and a tunnel maze and I put every block together in that world to create something huge and I lost it and I can't play the game now coz I have that fear of losing it again and I don't have that kind of energy to build it again, I kinda miss it tho.

Hi Tink 🌞, you know how Sam was supposed to be the main character and Jared is the lead actor on scripts and stuff? Well, when do you think Dean actually became the main character!? I may be biased (because I'm a total Dean!girl) and please correct me if I'm wrong but I feel as though he is. I get that the brothers were always the leads and then Cas was added but I'm curious to your thoughts regarding the idea that Sam was always meant to be the protagonist.

Well I always take everything we get that is “fact” from interviews etc with a piece of salt. Not everyone is going to agree with this, but this is my pov on things from what I’ve seen so far, which of course isn’t everything.

IMO it’s crazy to imagine that they thought for very long that Dean would be a true secondary character to Sam’s plot arc given what they did with him so early on, how angsty they made him and how they developed his character so deeply in order to be addressed and go deeper and make him more interesting, to the point that it totally outshone the plot arc. BUT I can see that this could have been the idea to start with from Kripke and that it was developed by others further you know? I can imagine it might have happened literally after watching the pilot or a little further down the line but I can also imagine it was never the plan anyway!

Everyone knows a character driven story is a way more emotionally tugging way of telling a story than a plot driven story, so if they wrote Sam more plot related and Dean more character related then of course the character led story would get more interest and Dean would be the one people got emotionally invested in! I know they tried to do a bit of both for sure, but basically Dean’s whole arc in season 1 is emotional, he cries to his dad, he shows his softer side, we see that he has something to hide, an internal struggle, then he just wants to keep his family together, he’s so emotionally tugging... Sam of course has the whole Jess thing going on but because of the visions and all the rest I feel personally it’s a little diluted and yeah, Jensen’s acting also just reels you in... it’s just so easy to get more tugged into Dean’s emotional drama even though Sam is carrying the story and has his own I just personally feel it’s not as compelling emotionally.

I have a gut feeling, based on nothing but my own feelings, that Kripke is a much more plot orientated than character orientated writer, so he pencilled out a plot that he liked (Sam’s arc) and worked around it, hence that idea, but then Dean was made into the character arc device by others. It’s why I still feel, generally and very loosely, earlier on Sam carries more the plotline and Dean carries more the character stuff. Which is why when Dean also carries the plot (ie. seasons 6/7/9/10/11 and even 4/5/12 as a kind of 50/50) people really feel Sam is left by the wayside and I do agree with that. 

Also I feel Sam is less easy to really know because we have much less character stuff to work with for him, we know far less about his interests, likes etc. We know a lot about Dean’s due to the subversion parts of his story, telling us so loudly that he LOVES classic rock so that we are surprised when he likes soft rock and swifty, telling us so loudly that he doesn’t do chick flicks, likes Die Hard etc, big DUDEBRO things, so that we are surprised when he loves Disney, watches Oprah, telenovelas, Dr Sexy etc etc etc. We just don’t have a lot of this for Sam because they’re not trying to prove the whole opposite thing because Sam doesn’t have an under - the - facade story to tell, that’s not his story.

I also feel like Kripke’s original idea... as great as it was, was very dude bro and apparently Dean was even more sleazy in the original pilot. He wanted a dude car and it had to be super dude dude man dude car... you know? And now? Look at Dean now! There’s been huge progression for his character, he’s not changed as such because he never WAS what he projected in season 1, but he’s allowed more of that out so he appears changed.

So yeah, my personal opinion is that I can’t really say either way based on what I’ve seen that I really believe anything that they say in interviews. I mean there’s also word that they never meant for Angels to be in the story, PLEASE, I mean duh Angels are teased since forever and what exactly did they plan to do when the main plot was Sam being tied to Lucifer with the blood from a demon... Lucifer who is a fallen Angel, and demons in general that mean Hell exists which means the opposite must exist, which means Angels, I mean...

Then there’s the whole Anna / Cas were supposed to be in it for only a few episodes bla bla stuff that is contradictory and doesn’t make any sense with what actually happened and you know, LOGIC. So I take it all with a pinch of salt.

That’s why I literally facepalm or roll my eyes when I read stuff like the last interview where Jared insinuates that because he and Jensen threw a bitch fit that they didnt introduce the Angels for 1.5 years or Jensen saying hey guys do you think... Kripke must’ve known he meant to introduce the Angels? Like come on my dudes! You’re not daft, what? Sometimes  I think Misha must roll his eyes at them so hard.

So anyway yeah, I’m usually the last person to ever go into conspiracy theories and not take things at face value, but given what I’ve seen, there are a lot of contradictions and misunderstandings and misinterpretations of “what the original plan was” etc. so I just go on what the show has actually given us :)

Also, I don’t really care tbh?! Sorry I don’t mean that negatively, just, yeah it doesn't make any difference now so meh?

Literally, Kripke could have meant for Sam to eventually die in redemption as per season 5 or even be sacrificed and killed by Dean himself, for Cas and Bobby to become a couple and for Cas to become Trump’s no1 supporter and be the reason he won the election, for Dean to end up a totally hetero straight dude bro and go off to join the circus, shagging a different girl every night til he died of liver disease on his dude bro motorbike, for all I care.

That is not where the story has now been taken, it doesn’t make a jot of difference to me what was originally intended unless it has an effect on the plot now and in the end :)

Dean IMO has been the main protagonist for a long while, I don’t mean that badly for any other character, that’s just how I read the story as being portrayed to the audience, most of everything revolves around Dean. The emotional drama mostly revolves around Dean and the plot, especially in later seasons is blatantly more about Dean. I do think that it is moving potentially in a different direction now though, with a more TFW shaped view point, season 12 was massively about all 3 of them and even had a huge healthy chunk of Crowley/ Rowena/Mary thrown in and next season I think will focus so much on all of TFW through Jack and the rest of the story.

So I’m intersted to see how this evolves again moving forwards now :)
