Chapter 24: Strange Effect

Y/N’s POV

I made some tea in the kitchen and took out some cookies from the cupboard. Then, I pour the tea in 4 cups. I stayed calm as I turn my attention towards my guests, my boyfriend Seokjin, and Jimin's sudden appearance of a high school sweetheart, Kang Seulgi.

Jimin and Seulgi were talking, probably about how long it has been and how she missed him, how he missed her. I stared at how her delicate, pretty fingers touched his squishy cheeks and stared longingly into his eyes. I gaze at how he keeps on smiling and caressing her hands with his thumbs, showing just how much he misses her too. I don't know why I was staring, and I don't understand what is this feeling that's been swirling in my gut ever since she arrived an hour ago.

"Hey Jagiya? Want me to help with the tea?"

I woke up from my weird gazing at the lovebirds with Seokjin's voice.

"Huh? Oh! No- it's okay, it's fine. I was just- I need to find some tray to put these cups Oppa. You just sit there and wait ok baby," I told Seokjin as he smiles and hums at my response from the couch. Seokjin was sitting right in front of Jimin and Seulgi and though I didn't notice at first, I saw how Jimin's eyebrows furrowed every time I called him Oppa.

I quickly bring the tray and put in in front if the small table in front of Seokjin, Jimin and Seulgi. Seokjin held my hand and I quickly took a seat next to him.

"Sorry, there's not much except some cookies left, I haven't bought anything yet, please, have some tea guys," I told them. Seulgi looks at me, smiling with her beautiful lips. Gosh, I wish I had that beauty glow-up. Jimin must be aesthetic, getting to meet his sweetheart back and beautiful as hell too now.

"Thank Y/N," Seulgi said. Her voice is like an angel. Wow.

Everybody took a sip of their tea and put it down. Seulgi look at me for a long time.

"Y/N, I want to start with an apology. I'm so sorry Y/N, sorry that the last time I saw you, I yelled at you, accusing of you being the reason my mom caught my relationship with Jimin. I should be thankful and get close to you instead of foolishly believing everything that I heard. I'm sorry Y/N, really. I want to thank you too, if not because of your friend Hanbin, I would have never met my boyfriend again," Seulgi gaze at me, then Jimin lovingly.

"It's fine Seulgi, besides you didn't know, so did Jimin. I'm glad that you guys manage to be together again," I said but those words seem hard to say it out loud. I don't know why. Seulgi smiles shyly, looking at Jimin with eyes full of love.

"Really Jagiya? That's so sweet of you baby, that's why I trust you having a bunch of boys as your housemates. When are you going to tell me if Youngji didn't huh? You naughty girl," Seokjin teases me. I giggled nervously.

When I opened the door to Seokjin and Seulgi, my heart was pounding on my chest. I was excited of course, but I was so scared to break the news that I've been living with a bunch of boys who I had a crush on in high school to him these past 3 months. Plus, Seokjin never knew about my past. But I saw how his expression was so calm and accepting when he sees Jimin came out of the room, Tae and Hoseok trailing behind him after hear the commotion in the living room. So, when I nervously tried to explain the whole situation, Seokjin only replied with a sweet smile, "I knew who they are Jagiya and don't worry, I trust you enough to let them live with you."

"I'm sorry Oppa. I was going to tell you! But they showed up one by one, and I don't want to text you and worry you over these things-"

Seokjin pinched my cheek. "You're so cute when you're nervous baby. It's okay, I'm not angry, besides, they took care of you on behalf of me while I'm not here, and I consider it that way. Luckily Youngji always keep tracks on you to me and told me everything about them the moment they arrive. I'm just a little hurt that you didn't tell me about all this yourself, next time, no more secrets alright?"

Seokjin is such a sweetheart. I truly can't believe how in the world did I get a boyfriend as sweet, caring and understanding as him. We smiled when a cough was heard and we turn our attention to that voice. It was Jimin.

"Sorry, I missed her so much. So, how was it here Jimin? I heard you are Y/N’s best friend?" Seokjin asks, hands still holding mine. Jimin smile awkwardly and scratch the back of his neck. Maybe he's embarrassed that Seokjin never knew about him or knew everything including our fights during high school. "Yeah, we're best friends. I'm fine here by the way, thanks for asking. But Y/N never mention about having a boyfriend before- so it's uh, kinda shocking to see you appear out of nowhere," he says, eyes staring straight at me.

His stare is so intimidating. But his words confuse me, haven't I mentioned to him about Seokjin before?

Seokjin giggled, "Really? Jagiya, you're not pretending to be single right? Ok, me is hurt."

I quickly persuade him. Even though he's joking, I don't like it when Seokjin said it like that. I want him to feel special because he's my boyfriend, just like how he make me feel. So hearing that, I look at Jimin with a confused expression.

"But I did tell you about him? Didn't I mention before? That I need to talk to my boyfriend about you guys moving in?" I ask him. Jimin shrugged, looking annoyed. I don't know why he's acting like this but I swear, it's getting on my nerves.

"Probably, or probably I didn't heard the part boyfriend," he replied. Seokjin and Seulgi just giggled nervously, trying to ease the tension.

I tried to channel my anger away, introducing the 2 boys that's been sitting on the kitchen counter, wanting to greet the 2 guests.

"Oppa, urm, meet Taehyung and Hoseok, they're roommates, I put them in the same room because they're too loud and are long-lost childhood friend," I introduced Seokjin to them and Taehyung and Hoseok who've been waiting bow politely at him. They look so formal it's almost funny to see them.

"Oh, please to meet you two! No- no you don't have to be so polite, I'm just Y/N’s boyfriend and possibly future husband, hahaha," he jokes. I blushed.

Damn Seokjin, do you have to display your affection towards me that much? I didn't mean to feel this way but it's comforting to introduce my boyfriend to them. At least they knew that I'm off limits.

"Hello, nice to meet you too. You're so lucky Seokjin, I've missed my chance with her once, don't you screw up too okay?" Taehyung jokes lightly which Seokjin smiles understanding what he meant. "I promise I won't," he replied softly.

As Hoseok, Taehyung and Seokjin were talking comfortably, I see how Jimin and Seulgi was talking quietly. Seulgi's beauty is beaming with happiness when she's with Jimin. She truly looks like she loves him a lot. Jimin too look handsome, even more handsome when he's with her.

My stare was broke when Seulgi turn to me and asks, "Y/N, mind if we take our conversation privately in Jimin's room? There's a lot that we want to catch up." I gulp. I'm not Jimin's Mom or girlfriend, why is she asking permission from me? I felt my chest heavy but looking at Jimin's hard glare, I just nodded and told them, "Oh sure. You guys must miss each other's a lot, go, and if you need anything just called me alright?"

They stood up and I saw how Jimin and Seulgi's fingers intertwined, making their way to his and Yoongi's room, closing the door softly. I stared at the door for a moment when Taehyung's voice called me, "Y/N, come on, Seokjin offered to cook dinner. Where's Jimin and Seulgi?"

I turn to him, "Uh, they want to talk privately in his room."

"Oooo-hh are they doing the nasty after years being separated from each other? Yoongi's gonna be super embarrassed if he walk in on them-"

"Taehyung!" Hoseok yelled making Seokjin giggled. I gave them a smile but I can't ignore this strange effect that's been effecting me ever since she arrived.

Author's POV

"So she had a boyfriend all this while? Shit," Namjoon cursed. Hoseok and Taehyung gave him a thin smile. "Sorry bro, but she looks so happy with him, and I beg you, please don't do anything that will ruin their relationship, he really loves her, and she loves him a lot too, we can see it," Taehyung mentioned.

Yoongi didn't say anything. He looks disappointed but he manages to accept the fact that Y/N is not in love with him anymore. Jungkook's jaw clenched, he does it out of jealousy which everyone knew that habit of his except for him. Currently, after getting home from their grocery shopping, they found a strange man cooking in the kitchen and when Y/N came out looking all lovable and face full of happiness at the man, they were introduced and were met with the sudden news that he is her boyfriend. BOYFRIEND.

Yoongi, Namjoon and Jungkook thought it was a joke at first but when Taehyung and Hoseok explained, they were bumped. Meeting her again, all 3 of them though at least one of them can win her heart back, that's why they compete with each other but turns out, those silly fights just turns to nothing as she already had someone special in her heart. Plus Seokjin is way richer, way nicer and way more handsome than them which hurts their pride a little. He treats her better than any of them too.

"Hah- and here we though she's still single. Foolish us, what do we expect? For her to love us back if we tried hard enough?" Jungkook utters to which Namjoon replied, "But that doesn't mean there's no a second chance right? We'll treat her right this time."

"Kim Namjoon, she's not an object for us to toss around when we don't want and have her back when we feel like it. She's a woman. She's a woman who deserves to have her own happiness even if that means that happiness is not with us. We were all given a chance with her once; but we've missed it. Each and every one of us, we must respect her, and if she's happy with Seokjin, so be it, we should be happy that she finally found her true happiness," Yoongi sternly told them.

As much as he loves her and never forget about her for the past years, Yoongi knew it's time to give up. Yoongi had always been to tender and careful to not show much about his feelings for Y/N. But now, realizing that Y/N is in love with someone who deserves her so much better, Yoongi knew, it's time for him to move on.

No matter how hard it is.

"It will hurt now, but we'll recover from it eventually, just like how she recovers from us," Jungkook adds. Namjoon looks down. He wanted to fix everything with Haneul and start again but it was all too late. Y/N had found his man elsewhere.

Hoseok and Taehyung look at each other, "Guys, we should be happy for her. Plus, Seokjin is nice, you guys will meet someone eventually, and it's not like it's she's going to throw our friendship when they got married someday, we could all still be friends," Taehyung tried to cheer them up.

They look at each other and smiled. It's the 1st time they did a meeting with just them and talk about personal feelings like this. Like real brothers. All because of one girl that manage to get them together. "Yeah, we'll recover, for now, I have one question," Jungkook broke the silence.

The all turn to him.

"Where's Jimin?"

Author's POV

Seulgi was smiling so happily. When she finds someone sliding in her DM's on SNS, she though to ignore it at first but when the message mentioned Jimin, she couldn't contain her happiness. Finally, after all these years, her true love is back. After all, she is single now, and though she had a boyfriend 3 years before, she never really did forget about her beloved Jimin, her first love. Her sweetheart. She never expects to meet him again someday but here she is, staying at his place.

"Chim, is it really okay for me to sleep here? Won't Yoongi or the other boys mind? And Y/N ?" she asks sweetly. Jimin was doing some assignments on his table, back facing her while replying, "Don't worry, they won't. Besides, Y/N’s secret boyfriend is back now, she won't care about me- I mean us."

Seulgi smiles happily. She noticed that Jimin wasn't as excited as she is when she first arrives but she knows it's been so long, so Jimin must feel a tad bit awkward to start being all lovey-dovey after years of being apart. "I love you how you decorate this room, but seriously, you're roommate's part of this room is kinda dark baby. Who decides on that cream curtain? That looks nice," Seulgi starts a conversation.

"Y/N did, she wants some sunlight ray to enter this room," Jimin said simply. Seulgi nods.

"Oh, nice choice she did there, After all, you always woke up late, so maybe the sunlight will keep you up, heheh," she giggled knowing Jimin's habits. Jimin didn't say anything. He stares at his assignments but he just can't get it done knowing, thinking about how everything went so fast from getting her best friend back, to Seulgi and Seokjin's sudden appearance.

"She washes it too, she nags a lot if I didn't open the curtain sharp at 7:00am, that silly girl," Jimin told Seulgi, imagining how Y/N was standing, both hands on her waist, ready to nag at him or Yoongi any minute. Jimin didn't know why, but after that conversation with Y/N about finding Seulgi again, he felt something triggered his feelings. He knew he should be less sensitive but seeing how Y/N talk about it so openly makes him feel mad and guilty. As if just mentioning her name didn't hurt her at all. Yes, Y/N did forgive him and he knew that but he doesn't like it that she keeps mentioning the ex. Because his relationship with Seulgi is what makes their friendship crumbles.

Truthfully, he didn't care if he didn't find her, because all he cares about is their friendship. He can't lose Y/N again. That's why he keeps hiding in her room, sulking every time Y/N is around the past 2 weeks. It's because he's afraid Y/N might mention her, which is the topic Jimin wants to avoid the most. But what surprises him is not Seulgi's appearance, but Seokjin's.

Jimin was so angry, he was literally fuming when Y/N introduced Seokjin. He has been staying with her for 3 months, yet she didn't tell him about her boyfriend? Her first ever official boyfriend? Was he that untrustworthy that she keeps such big secrets from him still? Jimin was upset. He didn't know why, why is he feeling these strange effects, seeing how Seokjin hugs Y/N, caressing her cheeks, kissing her forehead. Isn't it normal for a boyfriend to do that to his girlfriend? But Jimin just can't be happy for his best friend.

"Chim? You're spacing out again..." Seulgi's voice pull him out of his trance. He blinks and quickly close his assignments that can never be done if all he ever thinks of in the back of his head is Y/N’s boyfriend.

Jimin turn to Seulgi, "Uh- sorry Seulbear. You were saying?"

Seulgi smiles weakly at the nickname. She sat at the end of his bed and face him.

"Jimin... are you not happy that I'm here? I mean, I know it's been a long time, do you- I don't know, I just wanted to make sure, do you still feel the same? Do you... do you still love me?"

Seulgi's questions makes Jimin's eyes widen. Seulgi is beautiful of course, talented and rich. Any man would take one look at her and fall to their knees the moment she smiles. But in the matter of feelings, Jimin isn't sure what he feels for her anymore. He's glad that she's here, still looking in love and more beautiful than ever, but he can't ignore his feelings either. He can't seem to keep his mind off of his own best friend, Lee Y/N.

"What are you talking about, of course I'm happy! I- I just need some time to figure out everything between us you know, it's been a few years and I just repaired my friendship with Y/N and all, I just- I don't know what I feel anymore," Jimin admits quietly. Seulgi look at him. She loves him but she knew something is off between them. She came closer and cups Jimin's face with her delicate hands.

"It's okay baby. Let's take some time ok, slowly. Time is all we need and I don't want to force anything if you don't want to, I'll give you all the time you need," Seulgi caress his cheeks with her thumbs. Jimin look into her beautiful eye smile.

"Chim, we've cooked dinner and Seul-"

The door sprang open and Y/N’s words stop midway, seeing how Jimin and Seulgi is sitting in a position where they almost kissed. Y/N’s face blushed madly, embarrassed seeing how she had interrupted the two lovebird's moment before kissing.

"Uh- sorry, dinner's ready. Came out when uh- you guys are ready," Y/N told them looking away. Jimin immediately stood from his sitting position, trying to explain to her that what she sees is not what it looks like but in vain, Haneul had closed the door. Seulgi stares at Jimin, who's acting like they've done something that upsets Y/N. She was trying to connect the dots but didn't want to jump into any conclusion.

Seulgi stood and pulls his hand, "Come on, let's eat Chim. Y/N and Seokjin must've cooked something delicious again. It'll upsets them if we just sit here." Jimin looks at her, head dizzy from trying to comprehend the situation happening just now.

...

2 Weeks Later.

Seokjin noticed it too but refuses to say anything. He knew something is bothering Y/N, especially when it comes to Jimin.

The finals are over and both of them had finally, finally finished their studies. Only a few more weeks to wait for the final results and they'll be moving out of Brooklyn and went back to Seoul. Seokjin noticed how every time Jimin and Seulgi is in the same room as them, the only 2 voices talking is him and Jimin's girlfriend, laughing at any corny jokes the other boys made. Taehyung and Hoseok will mainly be the entertainer with Yoongi sometimes joining him to cook for the house which is pack with 9 people now, plus Seulgi staying with them, temporarily taking a break from her college.

The other 2 guys, Jungkook and Namjoon will also join sometimes but rarely since the 2 still gives off the cold vibes to him but he's fine with that.

But he is not fine with how Y/N was acting around Jimin. Whenever she's in the same room with them, she'll always stays quiet or pretend to play with her phone. If Seulgi asks one question, she'll answer one back, not wanting to speak more or make up a conversation. Seokjin is worried, he knows his girlfriend. As much as he loves her, he hates seeing how her gloomy look and dull face appears the moment Jimin enters the room. He also notices how Jimin was staying far away from her, doing the same.

From Youngji's story, Seokjin knew about their whole friendship within a short summary. Seokjin knew, no matter how much fight they were put into, Y/N and Jimin loves their friendship too much to ignore each other. Otherwise Jimin won't be here today. He knew Y/N and Jimin shares a special friendship even he is placed second if he made her choose. So one night, after contemplating to ask, he did.

"Baby, urm- can I ask you something?"

Y/N turn to her boyfriend with a pure smile. She looks so beautiful just putting on her night cream like that, Seokjin thought. Y/N quickly stood and made herself comfortable on her bed beside Seokjin's side. She sits and faces him cutely.

"Yes Oppa, what is it? Did you do something bad that you need my permission to ask a question hmm?" She giggled. Seokjin smiled at her joke. She then tilted her head. "What is it?"

Seokjin gaze falls on her. "I was wondering, why are you so quiet around Jimin these days? Did you guys fight again? I didn't mean to pry, but I know he's your best friend, whatever happens you know I can help you solve it baby... I don't like the cold air when you guys are in the same room, it's like you're avoiding him," Seokjin wonders cluelessly.

Y/N smiles instantly facades. She didn't know what to tell Seokjin. She can't lose the only guy who ever really treat her right just because some mixed feelings she had after Seulgi's arrival and the almost kissing scene she saw in Jimin's and Yoongi's bedroom. Seokjin will think she have some sort of feelings for Jimin and she didn't want that. She didn't want to blow a relationship with someone as nice as Seokjin just because she thinks she's falling in love with her best friend. No, she doesn't want any uncertain things anymore.

"Urm, what do you mean Oppa? Me and Jimin are fine, Seulgi's here and I don't want to interrupt their moment, that's all," Y/N replied. Seokjin reached for her chin. "Are you sure? Because that doesn't seems like it. You know we'll be leaving after the final result baby, does Jimin knew that? I haven't seen you sit and talk to him about anything."

Y/N didn't look at him. She knew if she did, Seokjin can read her like an open book.

"Baby, he's your best friend, you should spend some times with him before we went back to Seoul, after all he would be staying here for another semester, whatever issues that you have between us, I hope you both can settled it soon. I don't want your friendship with him end in bad terms again, I know how much he means to you," Seokjin caress her hair gently. Y/N look at him and immediately hug her boyfriend for some comfort.

"I'll think about it, I'll tell him about us moving out soon," she says but even then, her word didn't manage to make Seokjin convinced.

...

3 Days Later

Y/N was on her way to the coffee shop near Mochi's where Seokjin had promised to spend the day together. She was walking along the side walk wearing her skinny jeans and mustered blouse, thinking of all the cheesy things Seokjin is going to say and do during the date. It's been a while since they had their own private time with the boys in the house and most of the time, Seokjin will entertain them instead of her. And when this happen, she went to Jackson and Youngji's house to entertain herself.

Y/N entered the small coffee shop and went looking for Seokjin who must've been expecting her. But at the far end of the coffee shop, on the couple seat table, Jimin stared at her with a bewildered look, clearly surprised with her appearance there. Y/N wanted to pretend that she didn't see him, too late, he already called her name.

"Y/- Y/N !" he called. Shit.

Y/N slowly turn and made his way to him reluctantly. "He- hi! Chim! Whatcha doing here?" Jimin shyly scratch the back of his neck and ask for her to sit at the empty seat. What is this awkward vibe?

"I- uh was waiting for Seulgi, but she told me something came up, so uh- I'm alone now," Jimin replied blushing madly. Y/N put her bag on top of the table and smiles awkwardly trying to not make the situation weird. "You? Waiting for Seokjin huh?" Jimin asks. Y/N nodded, "Yup, uh- he told me he was going to be here any minute now-"

Ring! Ring!

Y/N unlocks her phone. It's her boyfriend.

From: Oppa ♡

Baby I'm so sorry, my classmates wants to get together for the last time at Uni today, would it be okay for you to spend the day with Youngji or any of the boys? I'm so sorry baby, I'll make it up to you next time, okay ?I'm sorry my love♡

Y/N closed the text. Seokjin never bail out on a date. It must be important, so she let it slip. She loves him too much to get angry. She replied with an Okay, and Have fun! before putting her phone inside her bag quickly.

Jimin who was sipping his Americano took a glance at her.

"He's on his way?" Y/N shook her head and look at him disappointingly.

"Sadly, he isn't. Something came up, gathering with his friends for the last time, so yeah. Here I am, a sad, lonely girlfriend in a coffee shop," she jokes. Jimin snickered.

"Are you mocking me right now? In case you forgot, you are a sad lonely boyfriend stood up by your girlfriend too okay," Y/N sassily remarks, making Jimin laugh ever harder and replied, "Then that makes the 2 of us! Hahahahahaha!"

Y/N giggled thinking the truth to his words. Both of them spend the day dressing up only just to be stood up by their respective partners. What a coincidence.

"Say, why don't you order something? My treat, besides, it's been so long since we get to spend some nice time together anyways," Jimin offers. Y/N tilted her head, "Well, well, is Park Jimin trying to be a gentleman for me today? Like seriously?" Jimin nodded gladly, happy that Y/N agreed to his request. "I know you're too lazy to stand up, so I'll go order your Caramel Latte okay?" he begin to stand but Y/N reached for his hand with a giggle before realizing something. "Chim, you still remember my favorite coffee?"

Jimin look at her with a wide smile. "Well of course, every single thing about you, how can I ever forget you silly," he replied simply. That simple answer itself made Y/N’s heartbeat goes faster. What?

After a good 10 minutes, Jimin came, bringing Y/N’s Caramel Latte and a slice of Blueberry Cheesecake, knowing how Y/N is crazy over that cake during high school. "Here lovely miss, your order, fresh and hot from the oven," Jimin jokes acting as a waiter. Y/N’s eyes wanders hungrily, smelling the yummy cake and latte.

"Oh gosh, this looks so good! Chim, have some!" Y/N excitedly took a small bite of the cake, scooping a small portion of the cake to Jimin's mouth. At first, Jimin shook his head but after one cute pout plus instant persuasion from Y/N, he giggled and took the cake. "Urmm- it is delicious, wonder why we haven't been to this cafe before," Jimin says, making them both realize, they haven't been as comfortable as this after the sudden cold war between them.

"Chim- urm, I'm so sorry for what's happening with us for the past weeks, I don't know what happens, and if I ever said anything that offended you or anything, I'm sorry, I- I didn't mean anything. I love you and you're my best friend, I – I can't lose you again.." Y/N admits, finally releasing everything she wants to say to make up with Jimin. Jimin stared at her.

"I'm sorry too. I was immature and overly sensitive, I don't know what happen either and I don't even remember why I'm acting like that on the first place. I can't lose you again too," Jimin admits bashfully. They both felt something when each confesses that way but this time, the meanings touch both of their heart even deeper.

After a good 5 minutes, they both smile. Jimin being the first to open his mouth.

"Hmm- I remember if I upset you during high school, I will always buy you ice cream and spend the whole day together. What do you say about spending the day with me? For old time's sake?"

Y/N smiles widely. "Yes! I mean- Of course, it'll be a much of a waste for both of us wearing like this and not going anywhere, might as well spending the day with my best friend," she giggled, making Jimin's eye smile appears with her words.

"I heard there's a carnival downtown today, wanna go? You always love those kinds of things, I'll win you one teddy bear this time, I swear!" Jimin revealed. Y/N’s eyes shines with wonder. She always loved going to a carnival with Youngji and Jimin during the old times. She grins excitedly, "Let's go!"

...

The Carnival

"I can't believe it! You ate all 2 of my burger! What are you a monster?!" Y/N’s giggled, looking at Jimin who only laugh hardly at her words. The carnival was so loud Y/N and Jimin had to talk to each other like they were shouting.

They were having so much fun, from riding the bumper cars, to sneakily hide among the kids on the mini carousel, Y/N almost throw up after the wave swinger ride and Jimin's underwear is almost revealed to public when he ride the mechanical bull. It's been such a hectic moment, Jimin and Y/N were laughing and giggling here and there at each other, missing these kinds of memories.

"I'm hungry ok, and that kid keeps on rolling his eyes while eating the burger, I wanna pull his eyes out," Jimin says, munching the burger hungrily. Y/N giggled and surrenders as she watches Jimin eat her burger. She loves seeing him eat, it makes her full already. Jimin have a problem with his weight during high school, and it makes her upset when Jimin went to extreme diet just to get people to like him.

She wipes his sweat with a tissue seeing how exhausted he looks from the bull ride just to show his 'manly side.'

"You know, you're kinda manly when riding that bull," Y/N teases him. He snickers, "Oh come on, I know I look like a fool, but that dude is so cocky, he thinks he's so mighty, I'll teach him a lesson for trying to flirt with you."

Y/N giggles. Jimin is so overprotective, making him more adorable in her eyes.

"I'm so tired, haaahh- I haven't been to any carnival for ages! Let's go buy some cotton candy on our way home," Y/N says, reaching for her wallet inside her small side handbag. Jimin finishes his food but her expression turns gloomy at the mention home.

"Wait here, I'll go buy it okay," Y/N announced giving Jimin her warm smile. Jimin nods and finish his burger at the bench they were sitting. He slurps his drink and looks at his best friend, queuing to buy her cotton candy amongst the kids. Y/N looked at him and wave back, whispering something from afar with a giggle.

Jimin stared at her. She looks so beautiful, just standing there, makes something inside him swirls. Just being with her alone makes him feel safe. Is it normal for him to feel this way? Truthfully, If he can, he doesn't want to go home. He wants to spend more time with Y/N before facing back his reality with Seokjin and Seulgi.

Jimin didn't want to say this, but he thinks he sees Seulgi as just a friend. He lets her stay because he's afraid Seulgi might get upset going all the way here for nothing. He tried, yes he did, to bring back his feelings of loving her, but he just can't. He didn't know why.

But after tonight... he's sure of the reason. Seeing Y/N just standing there with a simple beautiful smile and an exhausted day of laughing, he knew why.

It was always her.

He had always only loved her.

The sudden realization hit him hard. Why haven't i realize it before? Jimin you fool! He said to himself.

Y/N finally came back, bringing a big pink cotton candy the size of her face. "Chim? You okay? I've got the candy, let's go home," she says. Jimin was still in a dazed with his own self conscience. That's it. That's why he's feeling so weird about everything.

Jimin's gaze turns to Y/N immediately.

"Let's go ride the Ferris Wheel before going home. There's a firework going on soon, we might as well see it," Jimin says, quickly pulling Y/N’s wrist making the girl confused. "Oh- okay, let's go," she replied, heart beating fast, feeling Jimin's warm hand holding hers.

Jimin bought the tickets and choose one seat with just the two of them, like a gentleman; Jimin opens the caged door for Y/N, letting her go in first. As the Ferris Wheel begin to rotate, Y/N and Jimin feel the comfortable silence enveloping them. She stared at the city light downwards, while Jimin? He stared at her.

"This is beautiful Jimin, so beautiful, I've never seen the whole city lights up from this height," Y/N announced. Jimin smiles, "Yeah- it is. Beautiful, just like you," Jimin told her. Y/N though he was joking but she can feel the burning gaze Jimin had on her.

"Do you remember how we met in High School?" He asks suddenly.

"Well of course, i sucked in math and you in history. I kinda try to do the exchange of subjects thingy, hahahaha, i can't believe you almost did every one of my math homework," Y/N recalled, mind still fresh of the memories.

"But even then, you were the one who always approaches me. Even when other girls call me fatty, you manage to make me talk to them," Jimin replied. Y/N smiles.

"You were always the brave one Y/N. Always the one that fights for our friendship a lot. That's what makes you special among everyone else," Jimin stared deep into her eyes. Y/N blushes.

"Heyyy.. what are you saying, you are also brave, remember when you protected me from Irene and Taehyung's bullies? I love seeing how you defend me and walk me to school each day since then. You always buy me ice cream each time i failed my math test. It's like us against the world ya know? I miss those days," Y/N told him. She saw Jimin's eyes full of love when she told him that.

No, Y/N . Get yourself together. He has a girlfriend, and you have a boyfriend! Y/N remind herself from getting too deep into the conversation.

"Seulgi is so lucky to have you, I mean- you're handsome, adorable, rich, you guys are perfect for each other, I'm so happy for you," Y/N told him with a thin smile, peeling some cotton candy and put in her mouth. Jimin didn't blink. His gaze falls on her heavily.

His expression that's lovable a moment ago quickly turn dark. "But I'm not happy with her. And I'm not happy with you and Seokjin either," he says boldly. Y/N turns to him, eyebrows furrowed, "Jimin- what are you talking about?"

Jimin leans forward, closing the distance between them in the already narrow seat.

"I said, I'm not happy with you and Seokjin, I understand what I feel now, though I'm a fool for not realizing it sooner, it all makes sense now Y/N. Why am I being overly sensitive, why am I making distance between us and the cold air, I finally get it now. Everything, from the moment I saw you, I should have known, but I keep on ignoring this feelings in the name of friendship," Jimin rambled, making Y/N’s heart drums faster.

"I think you can see it by now Y/N, I love you. I love you so much that it hurts to see you with another guy, it makes me want to protect you. I love you so much that I can't even mention Seulgi anymore, because everything remind me of you, these strange... effects, feelings, I understood it now, it's all because- because I love you."

Y/N can feel her heart stops. Jimin's confession makes everything seems right. But, it doesn't help that both of them is with someone else too now. She's confused.

"I- I don't know what to say. I think you're confused Jimin, yeah, urm- maybe you think you are in love with me because you want to protect me from Seokjin right? And Seulgi? You had always love her.. yeah, I think you're confused, urm- I'll just pretend tha-

"Don't tell me how I feel Y/N. Don't you dare say that I'm confused when the only one whose confused here is you. I told you about my feelings, now you told me yours, be honest, please. I can't keep on going like this, I don't like this uncertainties and I want you to tell me the truth. Lee Y/N, do you feel it too? Do you love me? Like how I love you?" Jimin's questions were straightforward, hands cupping Y/N’s crimson, cold cheeks gently. His dark brown eyes look at her with so much love, Y/N’s heart can't contain it anymore.

She feels it. Who is she lying to?

All the while, even in High School, why Jimin is always in her story, it makes sense. Jimin was never in her long list of ex-crushes because he was never an ex. He was her best friend, whom she loves, whom she cherished. Her partner in crime, her everything. The road to their love might start of as friends, but both of them get it now. Finally.

At that, all thoughts of Seokjin were slowly fading as they stare into each other's eyes full of love. 2 best friends, longing for each other's hearts for so long, yet just realizing their feelings for each other just now.

"I- I love you too Jimin, I think I always had. Maybe- maybe that's the reason why I'm feelings this strange effects when I see you with Seulgi. But- but this is wrong, we- we can't-"

Jimin went nearer.

"Tell me not to kiss you Y/N, tell me what we feel is wrong," Jimin breathed, lips only inches away from her. Y/N and Jimin closed their eyes, ignoring the fireworks cracks that start to take place as they sat high in the sky, forgetting everything about their life and just focusing on the moment. Jimin reached for her pink lips, slowly closing his eyes, when his phone started ringing.

"Shit, I'm sorry Y/N, I'm so so sorry," Jimin apologize for ruining the moment and pick up the call. Y/N was dazed for a moment, and her cheeks turn red.

What am I doing? I have a boyfriend for god's sake! She thought. She looks at Jimin who had a worried face etched on his handsome face and waited. When he finally ended the call, Jimin turns to her worriedly.

"Y/N, I'm so sorry, it's Seulgi. I need to go and see her quickly. I promise, we'll work this out okay? I love you Y/N, I really do, please, just this once, I'm going to see her and explain everything, that it's you. It has always been you. Wait for me okay?" Jimin told her. Y/N didn't say anything, giving him a slight nod, worriedly thinking about them.

As soon as the Ferris Wheel reached the ground, Jimin and Y/N step out of it and Y/N saw how Jimin was freaking out trying to look for a way out of the crowded Carnival.

"I'm sorry Y/N, I'll get you a cab, Seulgi says she'll meet me here, it'll be quick I promise. I'm going to meet Seokjin and settle everything about us okay? Please, just wait for me," Jimin explains frantically. Y/N bit her lips, unsettling feeling overcome her. The cab Jimin ordered arrived and Jimin safely put her in, looking at her from the windows.

"Wait for me okay Y/N? Stay safe, I love you. We'll settle this."

He said it over and over like they were going to lose each other again. Y/N stared at him sadly. Everything is so confusing. As the cab went on its way, Y/N turns back to look at Jimin sadly waving at her. Y/N can't keep his minds off of Jimin so during the red lights, she told the cab driver to make another turn at the Carnival to take a look on Jimin again.

The driver slowly pulls over, taking one more round at the Carnival and Y/N look over the window. What she saw crushed her feelings that's starting to blossom for her best friend that's been non-stop chanting he loves her.

Jimin was kissing Seulgi passionately at the entrance of the Carnival.

...

Y/N’s Apartment.

"Surprise! Baby, oh my gosh, why are you crying?!?" Seokjin excited expression quickly turns worried, seeing how Y/N’s eyes was bloodshot from tears after spending the whole day out.

Y/N quickly hug him deeply.

She can't believe it, she almost lose someone as kind, as nice as Seokjin to be with that douche bag of a best friend, Jimin. She can't believe even after years, he manages to hurt her again, and this time, she swears she won't ever go near him again.

Seokjin cooed her, seeing how his girlfriend was crying heavily without no reason makes him worried. "I'm so- sorry Oppa, I love yo- you, I love- you so much, I-'m sorry, please don't- don't leave me," she said between sobs, heart so broken and confused with Jimin's action tonight.

Seokjin who is solely confused quickly comforted her, seeing how she hadn't noticed the whole cake decorations and foods he prepared with Yoongi and Hoseok for his surprise. He took this opportunity and kneel down on one knees, grabbing the blue box from his pocket which is actually the major ending for today's event but has to be quickened due to Y/N’s condition.

"Oppa- what, what are you doing?" she asks with a surprised look.

Seokjin gave her warm smile.

"Well, our results are finally out, and seeing how you had a bad day, I might as well, cheer it up with one question," Seokjin showed her the beautiful diamond cut ring with his and her's initials, K.S.J ♡ L.H.N Y/N’s sobs quickly stops, covering her mouth with both of her hands.

"Lee Y/N, will you marry me?"
