You decide you want to know him, but the closer the two of you get the more you get the feeling that there’s something he’s not telling you.

Another person has come forth to the police reporting to have been attacked and left bleeding at the scene with no recollection of their attacker or what had happened to them. Animal Control units are on the watch thinking it may be a rabid animal loose somewhere on the border of the city. The voice from your car radio gave you shivers as you drove to school. Recently, strange things had been going on in this relatively small, quiet town, and it was all anyone would talk about. You decide to change the radio to a different station in hopes of finding some music to listen to, hoping to calm your nerves before you arrive to school. Just being in a car itself gives you anxiety ever since the accident. You shake your head to clear it of thoughts you wish not to bring up before arriving in the parking lot to meet your friend who had been waiting for you, like she does every morning.

Radiance | Chapter 01 Snippet

⇢ A/N: Hi there guys! So I wanted to share a little bit of what I’ve got going for my Hobi fic that is titled “Radiance”. This one is going to be a bit more on the angst side but I promise you, there’s going to be a happy ending. If you do read this little bit, please let me know what you think. I love to hear your feedback. 

Nothing ever mattered.

You were never happy with your life. You never could understand why. Since you were a child, you constantly thought this way. Multiple therapy sessions, several medications you were put on, none of it seemed to work.

Your parents always questioned what they could have done wrong in raising you. For someone who has so much potential in life, why did you only think of the negative? Why did you have nothing to live for?

When you were in elementary school, it was implanted in all the heads of your kindergarten class that each and every one of you had a soulmate. Someone who you were tied to. That once you reached a certain peak in your life, that person would come to you. That peak varied from each person, so it was uncertain of when it would happen. One variable was certain: that each of you would have met your soulmate before you went out into the adult world.

Even with the idea of your soulmate, that was never enough to motivate you. To be quite frank, you hated the idea of being tied to someone you may or may not know. You loved to isolate yourself from others, being alone wasn’t a bad thing to you. In fact, you even worked from home, proving that you indeed refused having to leave the comfort of your bubble.

Occasionally you would skim through social media, the nights were curiosity would bite your tongue and you’d see what your former classmates were up to. As you would scroll down your timeline, post after post would consist of anniversary mentions, wedding photos, baby bumps. All of them signifying that your teacher was right all those years ago. They did meet their soulmates, and they put on display how happy their lives were because of it.

It made you sick to your stomach at their happiness. You were that coldhearted at times.

Pushing your phone to the side, you threw your body against the mattress below you. Sighing heavily, your thoughts beginning to consume you. It had been some time since you graduated college, and from what you’ve heard, you were the only one from your class that hadn’t met their soulmate. Which you were glad for since you preferred your singleness, a relationship was something you never thought about.

But there were times, like tonight, were you wondered “what if?”

I love the sound of rain and I hate the sound of lies joking joking. I hate the sound of bad marker on a whiteboard when it squeaks and chalk when it scratches. Writing this made me cringe.

Worst injury you’ve ever had: Okay so I actually had two and they were bad. I chipped my two front teeth in elementary school and got called vampire. I also ‘broke open’ my chin in elementary school somehow so they had to... ahem. This all happened in gym. I always get hurt there.

Do you have any obsessions rn?: I would say what has my attention right now is Tarot. Not really an obsession, but an interest. If I said obsessions, yeah no. I don’t find myself obsessed with stuff. Oh, also Astrology which I’ve always been interested in.
