Just saw something fascinating: the demon Belphegor comes up in a Christian text about a pagan revolt and alleged persecutions of Christians.
(Paganism Persisting: A History of European Paganisms Since Antiquity by Robin Douglas and Francis Young, page 51)
Here Belphegor is called "Beelphagor" and identified with a deity called Pripegala. It's not clear who Pripegala actually is.
Scholars agree that Pripegala is a distorted identity, but the real name behind that is a matter of debate. It is currently supposed that the name Pripegala may have come from an epithet of the god Svarozhits, who was probably also worshipped as "Radegast-Swarożyc" in Rethra. But if it is Svarozhits, it's an interesting case where Svarozhits was worshipped as a phallic god or in a phallic cult, since the text appears to identify "Pripegala" with Priapus, noted Greek phallus god. There's not really any info on where that connection came from.

Granblue Fantasy AU -- What Makes a Heart Beat
Ludger's tag: au;; What Makes a Heart Beat Julius' tag: jau;; What Makes a Life Matter
As Lucilius once said, "Others will carry on my work", and he's correct-- another Astral inheriting his research sought to create new primal beasts to rival the angels. But unlike the angels whose wings could be stolen, these new beings' power would materialize into a unbreakable armor infused with chaos matter pulled from the Crimson Horizon. When that armor's summoned, weapons made from pure chaos matter would be their tools to destroy archangels and the skydwellers they protected.
Alas, the research ends up imperfect-- these creations' bodies risk giving into the chaos matter's pull eventually, leading their bodies to slowly fade into the Crimson Horizon. But until then, as these being adjust to their power, the armor spreads from the arms to eventually cover their entire body.
And thus Project Svarozhits, armed with the Primal Beasts dubbed "Kresnik"s, are sent to the Sky Realm via teleportation in hopes that once their armor fully develops, they may even destroy the Supreme Primarch himself. Until then, orders are to blend in while working to master their powers.
Two of these Kresniks, designations "Ludger" and "Julius", were created and sent to the Sky Realm together. To Sky Dwellers, they would seem to be somewhat emotionally stunted brothers who love traveling between the islands at seemingly random. And they wouldn't be wrong-- the cognitive inhibitors keep them from deeper thoughts and feelings.
But when Ludger cooks, and Julius smiles in return... both beasts wonder....

genshin impact verse. take 2.
name: zoisite homeland: snezhnaya age: 25 vision: pyro allegiances: himself
history: copy+paste the golden kingdom sailor moon lore into genshin. zoisite was a small who came into consciousness in snezhnaya (svarozhits, god of fire & war) though eventually grew tired of the endless warfare his position demanded of him and his way to khaenri'ah to serve the human kingdom. he, like the other four guardians, truly believed the time of gods had passed and it was their duty to protect the new future of mankind. not ruling over them, but serving alongside them.
unfortunately, their love was their downfall. mankind plumbed depths that were not meant to be seen - and due to this, the four gods were all infected by forbidden knowledge and their kingdom was lost.
though khaenri'ah could not be saved, the four survived to the end of the battle. rukkadevata was able to save them - but the cost was high. the four all ceased to be who they were, and what she managed to salvage was so small it could scarcely be called divine.
but it granted them new lives, as each of the four was reborn as a human in their former homelands.
the human known as zoisite was born and raised in snezhnaya. like most other young man he was eager to join the fatui - though he found his mission most frustrating. he was set to sumeru as a spy and quickly fell in love with the land of wisdom, joining spantamad and becoming one of its most renown scholars. combat magic comes easily to zoisite regardless of element or discipline - though anything remotely related to healing seems out of his wheelhouse.
the abyss order has been seeking out the reincarnations of those four gods, hoping to awaken their lost memories using divine knowledge capsules.
