Euphoria of Duality

Inspired by the pectoral decoration of Horus and Seth as sphinx’ and Johnny Logans interpretation of the song ‘Euphoria’.

Another big inspirational factor was the ancient tale that Seth was allowed to stay alive and was given a purpose after the trials and fights with Horus as duality was an important factor to the workings of the universe. Depending on how you turn the picture you can see their interaction in different ways.

I do have to admit that while the comic relief child and anagram fun had primed me to accept some silliness, the 'S Triad Technologies → Susan Triad Technologies → Sue Triad Technologies → Sue Technologies → Sue Tech → Suetech → Sutech → Sutekh' thing was. such an insane stretch that it feels like it would have been better to just admit there weren't any clues rather than go 'of course... it was the wrong anagram....'.

Hello!

I'm trying to look up the hieroglyphics (like, the actual images) for Anubis and Set's names. Anubis I'm finding a few results, but Set is turning out hard to find for me. If you have any help in the accurate hieroglyphs id greatly appreciate it, but no worries if you're busy/would rather not, obviously.

This is so far the only image I can find for Set so far, but the source is dubious so I'm questioning the accuracy

No, those glyphs are correct at least (I have opinions on the way they've decided to put Seth in parentheses and some of the other Latin alphabet choices made here but that's a different story). These are some of the attested versions we have of Seth's name:

Respectively transliterated as stš (Setesh), stḫ (Setekh) and swtẖ (Sutech). "Sutekh" is the most common rendition of the variant of his name that is written with just the seth-animal, as well as the most prevailing address people use if they want to refer to him by the original Egyptian.

The Zodiac Sign feature was present for some time in my Ideal Partner readings but then I realised it's not the information I want to include. It felt a bit as if I were crossing other signs out, which I didn't want to do. I have stopped including the Zodiac Sign in the Ideal Partner readings. That's all 😊

Honestly, I truly believe in very few things personally, I'm more of a pragmatic person. However, I'm open to the idea of past lives and I did readings where past lives reflected. I even have a tarot spread for past life. So yes, I do this type of readings. 😊

The thing is I liked some of the episodes and others I didn't.

Church on ruby Road- good premise, fun, exciting, good intro to Ruby and 15

Space babies - hated it. The talking babies were stupid as was the monster. If it was supposed to be an abortion metaphor it failed. Pro-choice is to do with woman's bodily autonomy and less to do with the babies.

Devils chord - rather forgettable episode. Nothing wrong with it.

Boom - good episode. The doctor held himself well. And, of course Steven writes out the working class companion in the first 5 minutes.

23 yards - I loved it. Made no sense but I loved it. Okay nobody is convincing me ruby is 40. I took it as horror and horror stories don't always need an answer.

Dot and bubble - loved it. Ncuti sold it at the end. It was scary because of how real it was.

Rogue - liked the concept. Liked the aliens. Liked rogue. Wished there was a bit more jane austen mentions. Romance a bit fanfictiony and love at first sight without any reason or substance. But genuinely enjoyed it.

The legend of Ruby Sunday- loved it. Brought so much of our questions to light. Brilliant revelation of sutech and the possessed tardis genuinely gave me the shivers and horrorfied and upset me. Kate was brilliant as always. Wished osgood was there instead of the kid. Still have no idea why rose was there. Luke Smith would have made more sense especially to tie in with the original story. Sjs can't be there but her son can and I'd buy him far more as a scientific advisor than either of those two (but that might be my sja childhood speaking).

Empire of death - enjoyed the early parts when they were escaping sutech. Knew that it would all be fixed in the end. Revelation of Ruby's mother was so anticlimactic- you can't build up a mystery and then go oh there was no mystery. And calling bio mum, real mum, was awful. I guess this is the difference between an adopted person writing a story about an adopted person and not. And not sure how sending sutech into the vortex killed him when it didn't work last time.

lmaooo I'm sorry anon but this is such a funny ask for a number of reasons.

So first, if you want to headcanon Seth as hot because you like the name Seth I certainly can't stop you, but academic honesty bids me I tell you he wasn't actually called Seth; at least not by native ancient Egyptians for most of Dynastic history. "Seth" is the Latinisation of sɛθ, which is the ancient Greek version of the Classical Egyptian swtẖ or stẖ (rendered as Sutekh/Sutech or Setekh/Setech/Setesh). That script is what we call transliteration script, his name in original hieroglyphs can look like any one of these three:

The ancient Egyptians didn't portray Seth as hot, no. None of the gods were depicted in that kind of aesthetic way, though the gods were, as holds true for most mortal statuary and reliefs as well, depicted as aesthetic and symbolic ideals of reality. In art, Seth was usually depicted similarly to the other gods; that is to say, either as a man or an animal, or an animal-headed man, and with his attributes pertaining to his divine aspects.

In text, however, Seth was depicted as a belligerent asshole, a fratricidal dick; often as the only one strong enough to protect creation against Apep; a buffoon who thought he could row across the river in a solid stone boat; as a minister of foreign affairs who kept Egypt Egypt even when the land was overrun by foreigners.

But no, the Egyptians didn't portray him as "hot" because to the Egyptians, Seth was a necessary but dangerous force. One of those blokes you don't want to give too much metaphysical power through either art or words. This is why his impotence/infertility/loss of testicle(s) is a common motif in ancient Egyptian religious tradition. Seth needs to be controlled and that is how they did so.
