This is indicative of the fact that your suspension is not working correctly.   In this case, the customer came for a state inspection and we found bad leaf spring bushings on both rear axles on his Peterbilt. The driver complained that the truck when loaded makes a popping noise. This is a common phenomenon that occurs due to wear and tear of the truck over the years. The center bolt on these bushings is what connects to the axle, which enables the truck suspension with leaf springs to work properly. If the bushing wears down and the center bolt breaks due to flexing of leaf spring, that is fixed by U bolts. U bolts are torqued at the specification to ensure alignment of leaf spring. We inspect leaf spring and bushing for cracks, corrosion, shiny metal where it's been shifting, and moving. We do one bushing at a time to ensure mechanic safety. After suspension work is complete, Jorge, the owner of our truck shop, will personally go for a test drive of the vehicle to ensure perfection.
