On Tuesday night, the Indian cricket team left Bengaluru for their tour to South Africa. The Men in Blue, which included Mohammed Siraj, head coach Rahul Dravid, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and others, set out for the tour from Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru.

A three-match T20I series on December 10 will serve as the launchpad for the all-format tour of South Africa, which will last through December 14. The white-ball series’ ODI phase will begin on December 17 and run through September 21.
Senior players like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and captain Rohit Sharma will miss the white-ball phase of the all-format series. The top T20I batsman, Suryakumar Yadav, will captain the T20I team, while KL Rahul will captain the ODI team.
Call-ups for the ODI team have gone to young players like Rinku Singh, Tilak Varma, Sai Sudarshan, and Rajat Patidar.
Senior players will return for the two-match Test series, which will begin on December 26 in Centurion and conclude on January 3 in Cape Town. This red-ball leg of the series will be the most anticipated by Indian supporters because India has yet to win a Test series in South Africa.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) confirmed their selections for the multi-format series against India, which begins on December 10 at home. Fast bowler Nandre Burger, batsman David Bedingham and Tristan Stubbs, and wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne have all been called up to South Africa’s Test team for the India series.
The T20I and ODI squads will be led by Aiden Markram, while the Test team will be led by Temba Bavuma.
Bavuma and quick bowler Kagiso Rabada have been rested for the white-ball series. Anrich Nortje, who was ruled out of the World Cup owing to a lower back stress fracture, is out of the game in all formats and has no schedule for recuperation.
Stubbs has been named to the Test squad for the first time, along with batter David Bedingham and fast bowler Nandre Burger.

[ad_1] On Thursday, the BCCI announced squads for Team India's upcoming tour of South Africa, that comprises three ODIs, as many T20Is, and two Tests. While the major takeaway from the squads was the rest given to Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from the white-ball leg, Suryakumar Yadav retained T20I captaincy while Jasprit Bumrah made a return to the longest format after 17 months, having last represented the side during a Test against England in Birmingham in July 2022. Additionally, Rinku Singh and Sai Sudharsan were handed maiden ODI call-ups while Yuzvendra Chahal and Sanju Samson also made a return to the format. Rohit Sharma (L) and Virat Kohli during the T20 World Cup 2022(ANI) In a tweet following the squad announcement, the BCCI cleared the air on Rohit and Kohli's absence from the white-ball leg. “Mr Rohit Sharma and Mr Virat Kohli had requested the Board for a break from the white-ball leg of the tour,” the tweet said. It also stated that Mohammed Shami – who has been selected for the Tests – will join the side subject to fitness. It had been widely speculated that Rohit could make a return to captaincy in T20Is, and that the board had been trying to convince the 36-year-old to make a comeback in the format. The last time Rohit – as well as Kohli – represented the national team in T20Is was during the T20 World Cup last year. Ever since, Hardik Pandya had been leading the side in the shortest format; an injury to the all-rounder during the ODI World Cup in October saw Suryakumar Yadav taking over the leadership reins in the format. The BCCI did, however, honour Rohit Sharma's plea for a hiatus from white-ball cricket during the South Africa series, resulting in Suryakumar and KL Rahul assuming leadership roles in T20Is and ODIs, respectively. Similarly, reports had been doing the rounds about Kohli requesting for a break from white-ball leg as well; both, Rohit and Kohli had been central to Team India's gruelling preparations for the ODI World Cup, which ended in a final heartbreak at the hands of Australia last month. The spotlight stays on the shortest format for now, with the T20 World Cup slated for June 2024. Given Rohit and Kohli's absence from the white-ball leg, questions arise about their future in the format. Rohit can still ‘lead’ in T20IsIt seems Rohit's recent shift from playing anchor to adopting an aggressive approach has impressed BCCI significantly. According to news agency PTI, Hardik Pandya might no longer be an automatic choice for T20 captaincy in the T20 World Cup next year if Rohit decides to play the shortest format. "Rohit has been offered T20 captaincy but he is in UK on a holiday and wants an extended break after four months of gruelling season till end of the World Cup. But as captain, he has the highest respect for the dressing room and if he agrees to lead India in T20 World Cup, he will lead," a BCCI source told PTI. A cloud of uncertainty shrouds the T20I trajectories of both Rohit and Kohli, with neither making public declarations about their intentions to either continue or retire from the format. Despite this ambiguity, Virat Kohli's stellar performances in the last T20 World Cup, where he emerged as the top run-scorer, and his brilliant performances in the IPL 2023 position him as an apparent selection, provided he expresses his availability for the upcoming matches. The problem, however, lies with the remaining schedule for the national team ahead of the World Cup. Only 6 T20Is before T20 WCThe T20I series against South Africa was, perhaps, the best opportunity for BCCI to bring Rohit and Kohli back in fold, if they are part of the plans for the World Cup next year. India are scheduled to play Afghanistan in January in three T20Is, which marks their last action in the format before the gruelling five-Test series against England. This puts significant weightage on next year's IPL, which takes place right before the T20 World Cup. In the T20I series against South Africa, other Team India regulars like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Shubman Gill also remain absent and the next season of the cash-rich league, thus, serves as best preparation for the marquee global tournament. Regardless, if one goes by the reports, the ball still largely remains in the senior's duo court when it comes to selection in T20Is. [ad_2] Source link

MOUNT MAUNGANUI: Armed with an astonishing array of strokes and the confidence to pull off the impossible in T20 Internationals, Suryakumar Yadav has now set his sights on a Test call-up, saying it is around the corner. “Aa raha hain, woh (Test selection) bhi aa raha hain (coming, that is also coming,” a confident Surya said on Sunday after blazing his way to a 51-ball 111 that set up India’s…

Harbhajan Singh Names Suryakumar Yadav As Most Complete Batsman After Kohli And Rohit
Veteran India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh applauded Suryakumar Yadav after his amazing batting performance in Sri Lanka. Harbhajan believes that Suryakumar Yadav is the most complete batsman after India captain Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. However, Suryakumar Yadav was on the verge of making his debut for a long time and after a stunning Indian Premier League season in 2020, the selectors finally gave him a national call-up for the series against England earlier this year. He made his international debut with a bang in a T20I against England with a blistering fifty as well. Meanwhile, he has been added to the second-string Indian team that has toured to Sri Lanka for a limited-overs series and Suryakumar Yadav grabbed the opportunity with both hands. He had a good ODI series and earned the man of the series award as well. He maintained his good form in the T20I series as well, where he scored a fine fifty in the series opener on Sunday to help his team win by 38 runs as well. However, Harbhajan Singh named Suryakumar Yadav in high regard while comparing him with India’s deadly duo - Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. “I have followed Suryakumar Yadav for years now. When I was captaining the Mumbai Indians, he was a young boy and in today’s time, after Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, he is the most complete player in terms of batting,” Harbhajan said on Sports Tak. The veteran also believes that the right-handed batsman is the best player of spin in India and that certainly makes him a go-to player in all the Indian squads. “Over the years, I have seen him grow as a player. He is a phenomenal batsman, who can play fast bowling. He has plenty of time and in terms of playing spin, you will not find a better batsman in India in today’s time. So, in my opinion, Suryakumar is a must whether it’s World Cup squad, one-day squad, T20I or Test squad,” Harbhajan concluded.

India vs West Indies 2nd ODI Review
After India won the 1st ODI on Sunday, everyone expected a fightback from West Indies in the second ODI. Indies had pointed to prove in this match. West Indies had all to play for in this match, for them the series was at stake.
The second ODI started with a major blow to the West Indies as their captain Kieron Pollard was injured and was ruled out of the match. Nicholas Pooran was the stand-in captain for this match. For India it was good news considering all the covid fiasco which happened in their camp, KL Rahul returned to the squad after his leave, and also Shreyas Iyer and Ruturaj Gaikwad tested negative for covid and were allowed to join the squad.
Match started with West Indies the toss and opting to field first, which means Indians were once who was going to bat first. Both teams have one change from the last match playing11. Another surprise that fans got to witness yesterday was Rishabh Pant opening the batting along with Rohit Sharma. West Indies dominated the start and India 40 for 3 in the first 10 overs. Rohit Virat and Pant were gone.
Now it was up to KL Rahul who we can confirm as India's new no.4 in ODI cricket and Suryakumar Yadav to stabilize the Indian Innings. Both Rahul and SKY put up a good partnership heading India towards a decent total. But the then unfortunate incident of bizarre run out. In 30th over Rahul hit shot and called for 2 runs but while coming back for the second run he stopped in the middle of the run his partner had already crossed the halfway line so Rahul continued but was well short of his crease. After Rahul Sundar and Surya continued, Surya brought his 50. But soon these 2 were too dismissed. Deepak Hooda along with tailenders managed to get some runs but India was eventually rolled out for 237 in their 50 overs.
https://youtu.be/QWI9yH2MBkE
With a target of 238, this was the best chance for West Indies to win the match and level the series 1-1. Indies had a decent opening stand. But soon West Indies inning started to crumble. Indies lost wickets in quick succession which derailed their innings. India found a new hero in the bowling department. It was Prasidh Krishna the bowler from KKR. Prasidh had a dream day. His figures were 10 overs 35 runs and 4 wickets. West Indies kept losing wickets at regular intervals which meant they were bowled out for 196.
The final result of the match was India won by 44 runs in spite of scoring only 230+ runs.
Thus India has now taken an inaccessible lead in the series by 2-0. With only one game remaining India will have the luxury of experimenting and giving a few fragile players a chance in the team.  Thus to know more on IND vs WI 2022 Live Score follow us.

Shikar Dhawan Captain & Bhuvi Kumar Deputy For Sri Lanka Tour
By Brandan White
Shikhar Dhawan has been named captain for India's tour of Sri Lanka, starting July 13, where they will play three ODIs and three T20Is.
Tumblr media
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been named Dhawan's deputy.
With several white-ball regulars away with the Test squad in England at the same time, the BCCI has rewarded several domestic performers with an India call-up.
Net Bowlers such as Ishan Porel, Sandeep Warrier, Arshdeep Singh, Sai Kishore, Simarjeet Singh, Karnataka opener Devdutt Padikkal, who has been in rollicking form in white-ball cricket in the domestic circuit as well as the IPL, has been drafted in.
Maharashtra and CSK opener Ruturaj Gaikwad has also made the cut. Also back in the national side mix is Prithvi Shaw, who top-scored for Mumbai with a whopping 827 run-tally to lead his team to a Vijay Hazare Trophy triumph earlier this year.
The fresh group of players who have got games in the home series against England (ODIs and T20Is) like Rahul Chahar, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav - have all retained their place in the squad. Varun Chakravarthy, Navdeep Saini and Deepak Chahar, who were part of the T20I squad in that series but didn't get a game, have also been named in the team.
India will be spoilt for choices at the top of the order as another consistent IPL performer over the last couple of years - Nitish Rana - also gets a look in, while Manish Pandey has been handed a comeback in the absence of some of the first choice options in the batting line-up.
Among the bowlers, the young and impressive Chetan Sakariya has found a berth on the basis of his eye-catching performances in the now-suspended IPL 2021 earlier this year.
Krishnappa Gowtham, the experienced Karnataka spinner who enjoyed a big payday at the IPL auction this year has also been picked.
India’s squad for SL tour (ODIs and T20Is): Shikhar Dhawan (Captain),  Bhuvneshwar Kumar (Vice-captain), Prithvi Shaw, Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Suryakumar Yadav, Manish Pandey, Hardik Pandya, Nitish Rana, Ishan Kishan (Wicket-keeper), Sanju Samson (Wicket-keeper), Yuzvendra Chahal, Rahul Chahar, K Gowtham, Krunal Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, Deepak Chahar, Navdeep Saini, Chetan Sakariya.
India's tour of Sri Lanka is as follows,
13th July     1st ODI - Colombo
16th July     2nd ODI - Colombo
18th July     3rd ODI - Colombo
21st July      1st T20I - Colombo
23rd July     2nd T20I - Colombo
25th July     3rd T20I - Colombo

Cricket News - Virat Kohli opens up on the umpire's call
India captain Virat Kohli took a jibe on the much-debated umpire’s call in the Decision Review System, citing that it is creating a lot of confusion and he again shared that LBW dismissals should be based only on whether the ball is hitting the stumps, even if marginally as well.
However, according to the existing rule, at least 50 per cent of the ball needs to be hitting one of the three stumps for the batsman to get out through LBW on review in case an umpire’s call has been challenged on the field.
“I played for a long time when there was no DRS. Right. If the umpire made a decision, whether the batsman liked it or not, it stayed like that. Vice versa the umpire gave it not out and it was out, it stayed like that, whether it was marginal or not,” said Kohli before the first ODI of a three-match series against England in Pune.
“According to me, umpire’s call right now is creating a lot of confusion. When you get bowled as a batsman, you don’t expect the ball to hit more than 50 per cent into the stumps to consider yourself bowled. So from basic cricket common-sense, I don’t think that there should be any debate on that. If the ball is clipping the stumps, that should be out whether you like it or not, you lose the review,” he continued.
Umpire's call has come in the news in recent times ever since Team India faced this couple of times in the recently-concluded series against England where Suryakumar Yadav’s dismissal via on-field soft signals came under the scanner too.
On the other hand, the players will soon tour to England for the inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) final in June where they will take on New Zealand. And, Kohli said that these things could be vital in high-stakes tournaments if controversial umpiring calls affects the results of the game in future too.

Team India to head to Australia sans Rohit and Ishant for now | Cricket News
Tumblr media
MUMBAI: In a huge setback for India, opener and limited overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma was on Monday ruled out due to a hamstring injury he picked up during IPL 2020 from the team’s tour to Australia as the selectors picked a jumbo squad for the trip. Earlier this year, Rohit was ruled out of the New Zealand tour after suffering a calf injury. The trio of Rohit, Ishant Sharma (abdominal muscle tear) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (leg injury) is thus not a part of the touring party due to various injuries. “The BCCI medical team will continue to monitor the progress of Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma,” said a BCCI release on Monday. It is not known if Rohit will take further part in the ongoing IPL but sources indicated that he may get match fit by November 4. “In the case of Ishant, however, the National Cricket Academy (NCA) has set a ‘deadline’ for him to recover by November 18, after which he needs to train for three to four weeks post-recovery. A call on Ishant’s inclusion will only be taken next month, which basically means he’s unlikely to land in Australia for this series,” a source said.
Tumblr media
The lengthy tour includes three T20 Internationals, as many ODIs and four Tests. It will kick off with the first T20I on November 27. In Rohit’s absence, the inform KL Rahul has been promoted as the vice-captain of the limited overs sides. The selectors have left out Rishabh Pant from the white-ball squads and Rahul will keep wickets in the shorter formats. Sanju Samson, who has had a blow-hot-blow-cold IPL this far, has retained his place in the T20 squad. Rahul, incidentally has also made a comeback to the 18-man squad for Border-Gavaskar four-Test series, which will kick off with the first Test at Adelaide on December 17. In a brave move, the selectors have included Tamil Nadu’s ‘mystery spinner’ Varun Chakravarthy, who took a fifer on Saturday against Delhi Capitals for the Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday, in the T20 side. Chakravarthy is the fourth spinner in the T20 team, besides Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar and Yuzvendra Chahal. As expected, with Ishant still recovering from his injury, young pacers Navdeep Saini and Mohammed Siraj, who’ve both impressed with pace and control in the IPL, found a spot in the Test team. Unfortunately for him, Suryakumar Yadav continues to be ignored despite producing some sizzling performances for MI this IPL. Despite poor form in the IPL, Ajinkya Rahane and Prithvi Shaw have been included in the Test side. Four additional bowlers – Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Kartik Tyagi, Ishan Porel and T Natarajan -will travel with the Indian contingent.
