IT'S DONE. I'M DONE.
535 hours across 5 complete playthroughs, dear BG3 you are going on the shelf until I can look at you again. xDD
the last run was super fun, the tactician difficulty definitely made me more involved/finally got me using scrolls and various potions and elixirs instead of hoarding them till (and past) the very end
i even managed to accomplish the most difficult thing in the whole game and saved all the gondians (if you know, you know)
maybe I'll attempt an honor run one day, but this is not the day
#bg3 playthrough#Astarion's run was a mixed bag for most of the companion outcomes#he didn't dissuade anyone away from their wants#so gale and wyll got way different endings than what i usually go for#karlach's no more#so is lae'zel#halsin's fine#Shadowheart's fine living quiet life with Astarion in the countryside#the game was definitely worth the full price several times over#though i admit it's mostly the companion storylines that make it shine plot-wise#the overarching plot does try to spoon-feed you social commentary every now and again#i swear the whole refugee thing made me roll my eyes more than once#i still think the name sucks for a group of people who lived like 1-2 hours away by car from the city of Baldur's Gate#like 100-150 miles maybe#come on#survivors from elturel would've been better#on the same note trying to sell the city as some sort of beacon of light/hope when you see that every other house has a murder basement#'jewel of coast' indeed#a grand unpolished kidney stone more like it

I'm getting towards the end of my current BG3 playthrough—I just finished Astarion's companion quest, and am getting ready for my Durge to duel Orin next.
I love the character I created for this first playthrough, I don't regret going Dark Urge for my first time because I feel like the storyline is so rich, but now knowing all the lore behind the character, I find myself wishing that I'd have made some different character decisions in the beginning. (I wrote a really dope bit of backstory hoping it would leave enough room for the Dark Urge lore, but found that would've worked a lot better for a custom Tav than a Durge Tav. but, you live and you learn!) so now I'm just trying to complete my run and experience as much as I can, and hopefully next playthrough I can be a little more focused on roleplay.
that said, here I am already scheming on future playthroughs, so let me share with you the new Tavs I've created!~
Tiresia: Asmodeus tiefling, wild magic sorcerer (she/her) (left)
Tiresia is a very young and gifted—if chaotic and unpracticed—wild magic sorcerer, though she has been afraid to take advantage of her unpredictable magic for a long time. when she experienced one of their first surges of wild magic as a child, she accidentally set fire to her family home, leaving her parents dead and herself half-blinded and permanently scarred. she has a soft heart, but can be slow to trust, having spent a childhood living rough on the streets, forced to fend for herself.
before being abducted by the mindflayers, Tiresia was a refugee on the road from Elturel, choosing to travel as a lone wolf rather than with the caravan led by Zevlor. she isn't so much of an "adventurer," per se—she's a survivor, in every sense of the word. in time, will Tiresia learn to harness her wild magic? and will she ever find somewhere safe to call home?
Juno: Lolth-sworn drow, Dark Urge, Way of Shadow Monk (she/her) (right)
On the right is my new Dark Urge, Juno. Juno is a Lolth-sworn drow, and a Way of Shadow Monk, and I imagine her to be perhaps a century or two old. I read someone somewhere talking about how a monk Dark Urge would be cool because what's more metal than being a Bhaalspawn assassin who needs no blades, no magic, nothing more than their own body as the ultimate weapon of murder? There's also something poetic about the push and pull between the uncontrolled, murderous urges and the rather zen, principled martial arts practice of a monk, making for the ultimate internal dissonance and turmoil. I plan to play this one as a bit more of a darker playthrough than my current one, though still (hopefully) a redemptive one.
