“at least you’re honest,” he says as he moves the ice pack to his eye, flinching when it first touches. the black eye is probably going to be pretty gnarly and he doesn’t even want to think about how everyone is going to react. it’s not like he was even actually in a fight, he just stepped between willow and the dude she was antagonizing, but still. he somehow feels big and small at the same time. a gentleman and a pussy.

“can you get me the pain pills?”

   Okay, so, she shouldn’t find this funny, because, like, it’s not. Apart from the situation, it isn’t funny at all. Some dude she didn’t know started hitting another dude that was mad at her -- she’d actually laughed in shocked, happy surprise at the whole confrontation -- but now, in his home-thing, it shouldn’t be funny anymore.
