Hi Mermie 🥺🤍hope ur having a great day⭐️
For the writer-ask game I wanted to ask u 1, 48, and 49 🫶
i hope UR having a great day, starry. 🥺😌⭐️
1. Do you listen to music when you write?
how funny for u, starry, to ask me this question—because my answer, my habit now, actually comes from the animator’s survival kit. 🥹 have you read it??? for our friends that haven’t, there’s a part where the author is explaining how, when he was learning under one of the old animation masters, Milt Kahl (one of Disney’s Nine Old Men, basically the OG guys that like, invented animation as we know it today), that he made the mistake of asking whether or not Milt listened to music while he drew his pages—only to have Milt explode at him.
“I’m not smart enough to think of more than one thing at a time!” Milt tells him.
i read the animator’s survival kit when i was a babby and wanted to do animation—and those pages in particular have always (and immediately) stuck with me, because Milt was like—right? like i’ll listen to music when i draw, but at the same time, i’m not really listening to it, i’m focusing on something else. and it’s worse when i’m trying to write—I can’t listen and think at the same time—so no, i don’t listen to music when i write. 🥹 if i need to block out a more irritating/distracting noise i’ll play like, idk, some white noise or nature sounds—but that’s about it. i haven’t listened to music when i write ever since reading that.
48. What’s the most self-insert character/scene you’ve ever written?
i think the most perfect 1:1 example i have is—you do remember in SJLT, when Scribbles starts carrying those letters around? like a good luck charm, just in her bag? that’s a mermie thing!! i did that for a while a few years ago, now, when i was in a rough place. different circumstances, and a different letter-writer lmao—but it meant the same thing. and we both needed it the same way, i think.
49. Which character would you most want to be friends with, if they were real?
the MHA canon cast would be so incredibly stressful to deal with. 💀 maybe Kaminari? I think he’d be a sweetheart. Momo and Jirou, toothey’d both be used to being around big personalities, so I think they could handle me slipping in there too. 😌

a survey thing!
Tagged by @seeingteacupsindragons
Tagging: whoever would like to participate, because... it’s Christmas and I don’t wanna tag people lol
1) Are you named after anyone? Nope. Fun fact, though; I was almost named Jennifer??? But then my mom changed her mind.
2) When was the last time you cried? LAST NIGHT. I was so overly emotional watching Into the Spider-Verse the second time through. I cried through most of it lol gosh it was so good. Everything mattered so much. weh weh best movie
3) Do you have any kids? No... but I do have cats.
4) Do you use sarcasm a lot? All the time.
5) What’s the first thing you notice about people? In person, it’s their eyes. Or rather, if they look at me straight on/how long they hold eye contact/what their brows do/etc... It’s a lot about how a person engages with me and the room. You can tell a lot about what a person’s MO by that, and how to best communicate with them. It’s sort of similar online, too... but by word choice- passive/active communication, etc. Trying to get a feel for what their style is.
6) Eye color? Blue.
7) Scary movie or happy ending? I like a satisfying/hopeful ending for all of my endings, even the scary ones. And I do love scary movies.
8) Any special talent? Idk I draw and I write but a lot of people do. I’m really patient, though. Extremely patient. Moreso than a regular person.
9) Where were you born? Provo, Utah.
10) Hobbies? Writing, drawing, reading, collecting things, RESEARCHING, web development, cooking, singing... I’m slowly learning how to play the ukulele, but I need to be more dedicated.
11) Do you have any pets? Two cats!
12) What sports do you/ have you played? I really liked tennis, and I was good at shooting hoops in basketball, but I’m a terrible runner. I’m very slow, which makes me bad at basically all sport.
13) How tall are you? 5′6″ - very average.
14) Favorite subject in school? English. I always loved English. I took so many art classes but it felt like I was constantly butting heads with my teachers, while English... was just a natural fit.
15) Dream job? A regular 9-5 like the one I currently have with lots of PTO so I could do book tours and school visits for a part-time published author/illustrator gig. I really like having health insurance, routine, and an office full of people to see. It’s good for me. Stability is essential for me to do anything creative.

*^▽^*) o((*^▽^*))o ヽ(;▽;)ノ ꉂꉂ ( ˆᴗˆ )
Say hello || accepting
(*^▽^*) if you like my muse || o((*^▽^*))o if you like my writing ヽ(;▽;)ノ if you want to roleplay with me but you’re too shy/intimidated to ask ꉂꉂ ( ˆᴗˆ ) if you’ve ever wanted to get the know the mun
ghghghg SON IN LAW WITH THE COMPLIMENTS. thank you. ;w; Weh, again with the echoes issue, but I’m up for ideas so long as I can avoid spoilers?? It’s hard when I don’t know the other character well but then I just kinda treat things like I would an OC pff.
I have a mun tag with some surveys and stuff! And… am probably too open. But I’m old, analyze everything and take it probably too seriously, am awkward and easily excitable. The main points.

Hi Ofmermaids, love you OfMermaids💛 For the ask game, can I ask for 36, 37, 38? TIA!
hi anon 🥹💗 love you anon 😌💕
36. Last sentence you wrote
It’s early evening; he’s sprawled out on his couch, boneless from a long day and you had hovered beside him, unsure if you were allowed to follow—allowed to want him, to want the ease of touching him whenever you could.
it’s from the bakugou birthday one-shot. 🥹
37. First sentence of your current WIP
Katsuki celebrates his birthday three times over, like a fairytale task, the first year you’re with him.
i keep quoting this one… the nature of it being the first sentence of my current WIP, though. 🥹
38. Weirdest story idea you’ve ever had
i’d love to say something shocking but tbh most of my ideas are pretty conventional. 🥹 like, weird to me means—adjacent to the surreal, or absurd? like… finding a mermaid in a manhole and keeping her in your bathtub and then using her weeping (colourful) sores as paint kinda surreal. checking into a hotel where, if you’re unable to find a partner, you end up being turned into a animal kinda absurd. stuff like that! nothing that i can think of, off the top of my head, meets the same kinda… playfulness that i think those kind of ideas inherently have! because isn’t that what weird is? to be playful in like… the questions or ideas you ask/put forward? lmaoo.

hi merms!! i hope you're having a lovely day! for the ask game, i'd like to ask number 27 & 34!
bluebelle. 🥹 🩵🌼🕊️ hello birdie. 🥺 i am having a lovely day, especially now you’ve said hello. 🥹
27. Favourite line/scene
Ehh. If I had to pick a favourite line it would probably be like, Bakugou being mad in surrender LOL, when he’s cross Weeds is jealous!! (“You’re a dumbass,” he says at last, like it’s a fatal diagnosis you’ve just been given in front of him)
(it makes me cackle bc i think he would be sooo mad at realising someone he likes is a little dumb sdlkfjklsdfj)
34. What was the hardest scene you ever had to write?
Oh. I was gonna say hands down the entirety of the bunker/underground fight in something, but tbh I don’t really think that’s true anymore. Action in general is like, fiddly, but I’ve done it enough times now that I think harder parts are like—big emotional scenes. 🥺 Especially if they require the character or whatever to like, linger in those big feelies sdlkfjlksdjf. They’re a little draining sometimes. 🥹 Which makes me slow at them. 🥺 Scribbles talking to Hana’s Dad, in the last chapter of SJLT, took me ages to do compared to like, say, Deku’s last fight!
#ofmermaidstories-asks#bluebelle i need to find your tag… but i hope your evening is going easy 🌼#survey tag weh where is that tag dsklfdjsdlkj
