Summary: Deku is right behind him, popping off his board like a pro. Their eyes lock and Deku’s eyes downright sparkle. Katsuki’s board twists and he falls into the water.

When he resurfaces, Deku zooms past him with a wink, jumping off the surfboard when he's close to shore. Katsuki doesn’t mean to think it. It just enters his mind, very unwillingly.

Sure, saving people is honorable and having a job that requires you to do so is a respectable profession, but god is Katsuki bored out of his mind. 

It's a Monday, so not a lot of people are on the beach, meaning not a lot of things for the blond lifeguard to do. He leans against a palm tree, clad in a white tank top and red swimming shorts that extends to his knees, as he watches the waves crash against the seashore. 

He sighs and stretches his arms, his muscles tense from being idle for so long. The blond groans. He needs to do this or else he wouldn't be able to pay his goddamned rent, so he relents through the boredom. He decides to walk along the shore, feeling the sea tickle his feet before retreating and then coming back again. 

It's peaceful and quiet, Katsuki admits. 

Until he hears the screams of a young man.

“Don’t you think you’re being a bit…much?” Kirishima asked. Watching as Bakugou dragged himself through the room in search for his shoes. The redhead cringed as his best friend stumbled into the couch as he bent down maybe a bit faster than he should’ve. “I think you need to sleep for maybe another forty-two more hours, bro.”

“I’ll sleep after I see shitty Deku,” Bakugou said, stubborn as ever. He glared at the complicated laces of his shoestrings before throwing them to the side. Spotting a pair of sandals by the door, he grinned triumphant as he went to put them on over his socks.

“I doubt Midoriya wants to see you while you’re high.”

“Shut the fuck up shitty hair.”

“I’m just saying,” Kirishima starfishes on the ground, his head still facing Bakugou. “I’d call the cops on you if you showed up to my house at two in the morning whilst high off your ass.”

“I’m leaving.”

“No driving!”

Bakugou flipped him off as he slammed the door behind him. He was walking unusually slowly, almost robotically, as if his brain was struggling to tell each foot to take the next step. It was as if he were in a stupor; like someone under hypnosis in one of those scooby-doo cartoons. Walking down the streets that lead to Deku’s apartment, Bakugou held his chin up as he tried to make himself appear less high. He barely noticed that he made it to Deku’s place, until he was somehow knocking on his door.

It took a few seconds, but soon the green haired man opened the door with a blanket still wrapped around his shoulders. His green eyes widened once he saw Bakugou there. “Kacchan? What are you doing here?”

Letting his eyes trail over the soft looking idiot in front of him. Bakugou clenched his fists as his mind wandered to thinking about how warm he’d be if he were wrapped up in the cover with Deku. His eyes linger on Deku’s shirtless chest for a few seconds, and almost lost his balance when his thoughts seemed to runaway from him.

“…Kacchan?”

Startling a bit, Bakugou noticed that it sounded like Deku had been saying his name for much longer than he seemed to realize. Blinking a few times, he waited a few more seconds to gather himself, before pushing his way into the apartment. Before he could get comfortable, or forget why he came there in the first place, he turned to face the shorter. “I can’t be your friend.”

As soon as the words left his mouth Midoriya’s face feel. Bakugou’s brain tingled like a hand that’s been sat on for too long. Standing his ground, he stepped closer to Deku— the distance between himself and the other causing his already fuzzy mind to feel even more jumbled.

“What do you mean by—”

“Shut up. I’m trying to…” he gestured to his head as he now stood only a few inches in front of Deku. It were as if his brain had been reprogrammed over the last few months, overridden. It was as if all his previous interests had been deleted and replaced with the image of Deku’s face and the sound of his voice. Bakugou’s thoughts were on a seemingly permanent repeat on how he could seduce him, make Deku his, make him see they were perfect together.

It was rare for him to feel this way. He was kind of too comatose in a sense to feel much for anyone else. Deku was the only one that even came close to breaking through his iron walls. Given that, it was increasingly hard to ignore the feelings that were awaken in him, when those same feelings weren’t reciprocated. The most frustrating part about it all, was that he had no idea on how Midoriya felt about him. He knew that the other saw him as a…kinda-friend, but Bakugou wanted more than that. If Deku rejected him then fine, whatever, but at least he’d have closure.

“I want to kiss your stupid face,” Bakugou said, “like…all the time.”

Deku’s face turned a bright red as he stared with his mouth hung open. When it didn’t look like the green haired could talk yet, Bakugou continued on.

“You’re like stupidly pretty which sometimes takes away from this whole,” he waved his hand in Deku’s general direction, “surfer-bod thing you got going on.” He blinked again as his own words registered in his head. “Shit I’m high.” Feeling a slight headache began to form, he frowned as he massaged at his temples.

“You’re high?!”

“That’s not the point,” he waved a hand in front of his face. “Regardless of how high I may or may not have gotten. In the process, I came to the conclusion that I can’t not be with you, or be just your friend.” Lifting a hand to grip at the fuzzy cover, he fought back a smile as he noticed a few fuzzies in Deku’s hair.

Processing the information at a much slower rate than Bakugou would have appreciated, the blonde watched with an unimpressed stare as Deku’s eyes widened, before the senseless babbling began. Tugging on the blanket Bakugou wobbled a bit as he acchdletly pulled Deku much closer than he intended to. “Listen,” he paused as he dragged his eyes away from Deku’s abs. “My head hurts like hell, and all I want to do is get cuddled, and then possible wake up tomorrow and have sex.”

Deku turned another shade of red.

“So, either hold me tight for the night, or, ya’know…don’t.”

The air between them was tense for a few seconds. Then time stops. Bakugou’s stomach turned unhelpfully and he felt his skin turn clammy. Soon however, Midoriya lit up into a smile and what can Bakugou do but follow suit.
