I loved it! I can’t believe Bobbie was ever a man (and I’ve seen that version). Bobby as a white man bachelor who can’t commit to women is sort of like ok dude…Bobbie as a woman and especially (tour version) a woman of color is like! Ok we get it now. Of course she feels all sort of pressure from society to settle down while also fearing picking the right person. It actually has emotional resonance now.

Also also getting a woman as a protagonist who just bounces around being beloved by her friends and refusing to settle down but in a cool way (while also having depth) was so refreshing and fun.

The gay version of “Not getting married” was SUPRB. “Ladies who lunch” was also amazing, but the moment where Joanne tries to make Bobbie have an epiphany about settling down by proposing she have an affair just…didn’t land for me. Maybe because the show is not set in 2024. Maybe because proposing Bobbie have an affair with someone else (not Joanne) doesn’t land the same as when the protagonist is “Bobby” and his scene partner Joanne is proposing they have an affair.

Aside from that moment the only other thing that didn’t work for me was the overuse of iphones and them repeatedly posing for selfies during songs.

Otherwise 10/10
