now that a day has passed and they still havent said ANYTHING (except matt’s tone deaf concert tweet), i’m imagining the most insane and chaotic fallout. i hope they rip each other to shreds. theyre literally making the situation worse the longer they wait to say anything but maybe they deserve it. they should go ahead and halt their plans to move into a new and improved supermegaplex because 95% of the patreon is ready to cancel, even patrons who only commented jokes under every post are writing their essays. i feel more disgusted as time goes on and no amount of corporate style tweets will fix this.

ok i just wanna point something out that the previous anon said, "fact you cried shows you have a parasocial relationship" i think is extremely false. i think that just means you're very empathetic. people cry for others they dont know all the time, that doesnt mean it's parasocial. also crying doesnt mean you were manipulated either. you were feeling strong emotions about the situation and thats it. it doesnt have to mean anything inherently negative.

Official Palcove Propaganda Post

Palcove is both the name of the iconic duo of Ted Nivison (of Rainforest Cafe/Margaritaville/400mg edible fame) and Charlie Slimecicle (professional gay sex roleplayer, at least that's what he should be known for) and the area they lived in during their brief time on EpicSMP (a modded SMP created by, uh... *cough* Matt SuperMega *cough*. You can hazard a guess as to why this SMP didn’t really take off.)

Okay, why should I care?

I shan't lie and say EpicSMP is like, crazy good, or a hidden gem, or YOU NEED TO WATCH THIS — really, it's basically TekkitLive but there's way more people on it. It's a largely forgotten SMP, overshadowed by more popular and successful SMPs that happened before or around it. (OriginsSMP, for example.) There's a bunch of interesting duos trying to start their own businesses, and while nothing happened happened, at the end everybody died, which is interesting to think about. (Actually, wait... yeah, it’s just like TekkitLive.) But it was fun. There were some good bits, some light roleplay, and enough seedlings of a plotline to get an average viewer Andy like me invested in. There was some kind of season 2, but it never took off. I'm sure MCYT fans are accustomed to the disappointment of non-existent fandoms, unfinished stories, or lacking narratives by now (Shadow of Israphel was my first heartbreak, but maybe yours was something else). Another one wouldn’t hurt, right? Why Palcove specifically? Well, as a former SMPLiver— (I am escorted off the stage to a chorus of boos) I just really like Ted and Charlie's dynamic. They’re the perfect comedy duo. Charlie works best when he has someone to bounce bits off of, and Ted knows exactly how to pick up what Charlie is putting down and elevate it to the next level. (The adverb and adjective bit in the first VOD had me DYING.) Story-wise, Charlie had a satisfying character arc. He’s a pivotal character and I liked how he plays off of Schlatt and Swagger, too. Not to mention, this is the last time Ted has uploaded or streamed any Minecraft content... I miss him, chat. Also, it makes me happy. Isn't that enough?

Well, okay, you got me interested. How do I watch?

I'm glad you asked (even if you wouldn't fucking say that, I don't care). Firstly, a primer. Sometimes we start a new thing, but it ends up not being to our liking, and that's fine. Maybe you want to walk around and see how it fits before you commit. That's fine! All I ask for is 14 minutes of your time. That's like, 4 songs.

This video is the first day edited down into a nice, palatable, taste-tester, courtesy of unknown energy on YouTube. It's so nice and cozy and comfy, it's the equivalent of a mug of hot chocolate curled up in an armchair with a warm blanket wrapped around you. As for continuing, I highly recommend starting with Charlie's POV. It's probably who you're most familiar with, and he bothered to edit down his streams (even if the videos are like, an hour long). If you like listening to men argue and make the unfunniest jokes imaginable, then definitely try the full VODs. All of these have been archived by the channel EpicSMPVods.

Final Thoughts

Like many other “stream only” SMPs, a lot of content regarding them simply gets lost and forgotten. There's plenty of reasons why EpicSMP wasn't very successful (in-depth analysis post pending). I’m just glad that not only did Palcove exist, but it's archived. It just so happened to survive against surmountable odds and even have what I consider a satisfying narrative ending (in-depth analysis post pending). And I’m insane about it. And everyone else should be, too.

I was thinking about Percy's face claim and I think Matt Watson from Supermega is pretty close to my idea of Percy. He was the face i gave to Percy in my early ages of reading fanfiction about him.

I think that they got cancel back a year ago because a friend of theirs had as his partner and they didn't do anything. So they were a bit problematic. Also for their jokes in their videos and content.

so there could be a bunch of reasons. i DO NOT believe it’s because they’re not as close anymore, matt is still very much obsessed with ryan lol and esp after the drama those two are as thick as thieves.

the realistic, grounded reasoning is probably that they hold a lot more closer to their chests in the new era. they don’t share personal anecdotes nearly as often, even matt the chronic oversharer has a lot he keeps private that he def would have blabbed about B.D. (before don) also they are getting older, more “mature” (relative to how they used to act,) and more reserved. they (read: matt) are also hyper aware of how they are perceived now, and i think they want to control that narrative as much as they can.

my parasocial, crazy ass theory is that matt is more serious about his current relationship than his past ones, and she may not like the excessive pda. idk how much that may ring true bc she has been very “encouraging” of his fruity behavior before, but notably that was before they actually got together and then the drama which i do believe brought them closer together. my secondary, tangentially related theory is that matt is still very, very self-conscious about his sexuality, considering he never shuts the fuck up about it and always makes The Gay Joke if and when he can. he is still very fixated on queer men as a concept and affirming his heterosexuality (only to “unless…?“ himself literally minutes afterwards.) so that may play into the toned down displays of affection between him and ryan. on ryan’s side after it was made public that he dated an nb person there was some speculation about his sexuality, but honestly my read on him is that he truly doesn’t give a shit either way. probably one of those dudes who will fw trans women/afab nb folks and not make a big thing about it. we also have no idea if he’s in a relationship right now (i assume not.)

HOWEVER!!!!!!! for what it’s worth they’re still pretty fucking gay, it’s just more subtle. they’ve definitely pulled back on the physical aspect but matt verbally sucks ryan off like once a podcast. they can get pretty touchy (and even flirty) on stream, namely in the member’s only streams where they kinda let their hair down so to speak. it’s lots of little things rather than a few big things, but they’re there!! for those with the eyes to see!! admittedly i do miss the kisses and blowjob jokes but they’re not going anywhere for now and i’m sure there are more in the future

A vent note for former supermega fans

I never really thought the boys were intentionally malicious and after actually thinking about it, they, especially Ryan, are allowed to joke about Daniel’s death. People use humour to cope with tragedy. I never brought it up before because I was reeling from all the horrible shit people were saying but i never agreed with people thinking that was a horrible thing to joke about. Daniel was their friend, not ours.

The whole situation is fucked honestly. It’s good that they took full accountability and didn’t push any blame on anyone but themselves, but it still isn’t enough to undo all the hurt they caused Lex, intentional or not. The one thing that will forever bother me tho is the fact that people targeted them instead of Don, the one who fucking sexually assaulted and manipulated his own girlfriend.

I’m sad to see them go. They shaped a good chunk of my sense of humour, I loved Matt’s music and their skits, it almost felt like the old Cyndago days. I wish they’d taken better initiative or even had an HR department. I don’t think they’re bad people, just spineless losers with way more on their plate than they even knew how to handle. Whether they deserve to be forgiven or have their lives ruined isn’t up to the fans or the internet police or whatever, it’s up to Lex.

I don’t hope anything bad on the boys or Leighton or even Jim, I hope they take a long break from being online and I hope they’re better in the future.

However, I sincerely wish nothing but the absolute worst on Don. I hope the rest of his life is miserable and I hope he fucking rots in his own filth for the rest of eternity. Fuck Don and fuck him for hurting Lex.
