HOW TO WRITE ROMANTIC ATTRACTION FOR DUMMIES

For anyone who wants to learn, (especially aro/ACE, aspec, ect.)

Alrighty! Welcome back or welcome to my blog! I'm dipping my toes back into the category of posts that gained me my exposure!

So if you're here, you want to know how to write romantic attraction/romance!

Strap in and let's begin!

(Pls spread this to people you think would benefit from seeing it, or anyone who requested it bc I forgot, ANY ASPECS)

Step one -

Your characters must admire one another at the beginning, Romantic feelings usually do not present themselves as obvious until you really think them through, meaning your characters may not notice they have a crush until it's too late

These are general statistics and light stereotypes. So feel free to not use this tip:

Male characters usually tend to notice physical things first, like body shape, hair, skin, clothing, the way their lover moves, ect

And Female Characters Generally tend to notice more small things and personality-based traits first, like their lover's humor, speaking mannerisms, shifts in expression, ways they fidget, emotion in their voice, ect.

And someone who is in love will generally show more interest in this particular person's movements, actions, words, and anything in general.

Step 2 -

The character will show more interest in sharing their love language with their lover/crush

Physical touch - People with physical touch love languages may want to hold hands, cuddle, hug, or just lean on their crush whenever they are close to them moreso than they want to with others

Gift giving - Gift givers will want to get more gifts more often for their crush, probably thinking of them whenever they see little trinkets or wanting to get them big gifts for special occasions or signs of appreciation

Acts of Service - Acts of service people will offer to do extra favors and a bunch of extra stuff they don't have to do twice as much as normal

Words of Affirmation - Flattery, they will generally flood their crush with kind words and compliments

Quality time - Quality time people will want to spend time with their crush at almost every turn, and when they want company, will turn to their crush first

Step 3 -

After a while, these urges while become very prominent and more noticeable to the person having them

They may find themselves fantasizing about their crush or having them show up in their thoughts more and more, feeling nicer and happier when they're around, or when they're thinking about them

Smiling when they think about them, cutsey little fluff thingies like that

A crush is essentially: I want to date that, I want to be near that always, I want to marry that, I want that to snuggle me (or other love languages)

Or in simpler terms: if that asked me out, I would say yes (or at least want to say yes if your character is in denial)

Step 4 -

The character's urges to be close to this person grows strong enough that they do smth about it, whether prompted by another character. Or they just don't know I how to not anymore (like when you wanna eat candy and you don't want to, but you do anyway bc I JUST NEED THE CHOCOLATE OKAY?)

(Or for Aro/Ace, garlic bread)

People who are in love are generally very prone to be all dreamy and poetic and VERY EXTREMELY BIASED towards their crush

when stars collide (black holes form) has been hyper-fixating all week, to the point where i have over 5k worth of planning and im halfway there, I will use both Callidora Black and Tommy for this, my OC, and the character who is basically an OC who's name I stole.

Can you hold a pleasant conversation with someone you dislike?

Calli: I do so on a regular basis - I quite literally have a list of people who I like, and anyone outside of that I simply tolerate. I have mastered my poker-face, and indeed make a rather good impression on most people, no matter how much I despise them. Though I probably could have been slightly politer in my first conversation with Voldemort. In my defense I was thirteen and he was attempting to recruit me to be a wizard-nazi.

Tommy: Absolutely not, Calli says I have no filter whatsoever. I tend to leave the sweet-talking to Cal.

Where do you wish you could be right now?

Calli: ... home. I'm not quite sure where that is - my childhood home is much more of a house, and while Hogwarts is familiar and comforting, it's not quite the same. For now, wherever my family goes is home, but I'd like to find one of my own one day.

Tommy: *shrugs* I mean, I just want to be with Calli. Hogwarts will always be my favorite place, but anywhere where Cals goes is enough for me.

What's something fictional you wish was real?

Calli: *silent, evil laughter* Funny story-

Tommy: Happy ever afters. I just want everything to be finished nice and easy, with no one dying, and no one hurt, so we can all just live happily ever after together.

(context, for this last one: Calli is an isekai OC, who was aware of the HP universe before her first death)

This has likely been done before, but I really want to do it now, and I haven’t seen it around yet, so let’s play a game.

Rules: create a set of ���incorrect quotes” (either using a generator or your memory, feel free to adjust them to your needs) for your ocs or characters!

I’ll go first, with some ‘gods upturning inputs (‘cause they know what you’ll become) ‘incorrect quotes!

Emmy: Archie, you should play the role of my father.

Archie: I don't wanna be your father.

Emmy: That's perfect. You already know your lines.

milk: only whole milk. skim milk feels like disgusting water in my mouth, and choco milk is too thick. haven’t tried any non-cow milk but the concept seems rather foul

I was tagged by @willtheweaver for the writing share (two months ago, sorry) and @aintgonnatakethis for the last line tag, thanks to both of you!

When you’re famous, your life is decided for you. It’s curated, like a museum wall. I speak from experience. I always wonder how famous musicians are able to have enough personalized life experiences to keep writing original songs. I say this, because once you hit fame, it’s that much harder to truly connect with anyone. That much harder to be truly alive, when people are there one day, gone the next. Everything decided by the people on the level just below you.  People talk so much that if you have anything as simple as a good conversation, everyone starts to speculate. You don’t get a shred of autonomy. Self-made celebs, they work so hard to get up there, only for their personal life to be torn out from under their feet. If you’re born into fame, how do you possibly create art that can resonate with the public? You never have lived or never will live a standard life, and they will never live yours. Anyway, this story isn’t about you, or them. It’s about me. And I am the king.

Travel buddies tag game!!

Rules: Imagine your characters are going on a trip for vacation. Which ones are most likely to fit the roles below?

Lets do some Inkpot Gods, shall we? This lot would never go on holiday together for a multitude of reasons (not least at least three want to kill each other, and one of them is technically dead, but its as far as I've gotten in canon-), but lets pretend!

1. Doing mad research for an affordable place for everyone to stay.

Absolutely Sam, he's got fourteen books open and as many tabs as his computer can hold before it sets on fire, he has everything planned down to the tee, despite the fact that Dean is stealing the money he's using, and Emmy is stacked from both her job and her... less legal activies.

2. Hoping to try all the new food they can.

Dean, 100%. He's gonna be the one who takes the entire plate of testers on food stalls, and can be found with some kind of food the entire time. Emmy throws something at him every time he talks with his mouth full. He gets a lot of things thrown at him.

3. Wants to stay inside and sleep through the whole vacation.

None of them, actually. (Bela probably wants to sleep by the pool and work on her tan, Emmy wants to stay for the same reason and nothing to do with Bela in a bikini-)

4. Believes no vacation is complete without certain activities (going to the beach, swimming, skiing, sightseeing, hiking, etc)

Once again Sam - he has a list of 'normal family things' that you're supposed to do on holidays, and drags everyone around to a bunch of different actives every day. Emmy loves them, Archie thinks its hilarious, Dean and Bela hate it, and then hate that they've agreed on something.

5. Is annoyed that certain people are in the same travel group as them.

Oh- yeah this is the question I was waiting for. Sam and Dean don't want Bela there (for obvious canon reasons), but Dean is the one who complains about her vocally and at length.

6. Buying souvenirs for everyone back home.

Archie - he buys every knick-knack he can get his hands on; about a million candles, loads of postcards, every piece of jewellery he can get his hands on. In his defense, Emmy is 95% of his impulse control, and she's off trying to stop Dean getting beaten up because of the amount of tasters he keeps eating-

7. Is about to turn this trip into a business trip.

Have you heard about this show called supernatural- All jokes aside, knowing them, the hotel is haunted, there's at least three demons, and someone's gonna temporarily die.

i have a bit of a personal question so feel free to ignore this ask

can i ask how you figured out you had adhd?(did i spell it right?) and do you have any tricks to making yourself get up and do whatever you got to do?

Wepl, get ready for a rant, because hyperfixations (past and present) are a surefire way to be blab for half an hour.

So, I don't remember 100% /how/ I got diagnosed, It was when I was about six and a half.

Mostly, my mother was Just this side of being an helicopter parent, and she noticed the signs pretty soon. There were many signals, I started to speak later than my sister did, then had problems with pronouncing letters like "r" "s" and "t" despite completely understanding the difference between the words they were used in, used to put my feet wrong which would cause me pain, had bad posture (which would also cause me pain), was extremely energetic in comparison to other kids, would zoon out in the middle of something and become almost completely detached from reality for minutes at a time, would start multiple somethings and leave them incomplete (way more than Is normal for the average kid), when I read out loud, if I misread a Word once, then rereading the exact same passage and helping I'd realize the mistake was a lost cause, my hand to eye coordination was in the negatives, I would bump into things, drop things and stuff like that. Also many more things that don't come ti mind right now.

Because of that I've been misdiagnosed/suspected of having autism (that one also because I have Always liked math, and I think the teachers were a bit too much into the cliché), epilepsy (theory busted with a three day long electroencephalogram), dyslexia, dyslalia and I think I'm forgetting something but want to finish this before tomorrow.

Long story short, each and every single one of those symptoms was because of adhd.

Wrong footing and posture? Distracted.

Same mistake at reading repeatedly? Distracted.

zooning out in maybe low key seizures? Hella distracted.

Couldn't stay still if I tried, no matter classes events or social expectations? Hyperactivity.

Mum noticed It all.

She asked doctors and brought me to visits (I remember a ton of them as a kid, probably why I've always been comfortable in hospitals).

At 6.5 years I had a first diagnosis, but was struggling like Hell at school and barely scraping by (yes in my freaking First year of school I spent more time studying than hanging out with friends with little results).

Lucky me, we live in range of the leading institute and one of the only three in Italy. So when a pediatric psychologist suggested a check up there It wasn't too problematic.

Did some tests. One of the ways to officially determinate if someone had adhd Is doing an IQ test. There are 4 areas analyzed. In regular people the scores are more or less even, but if you have adhd there should be a considerable difference between two areas and the other two. I scored pretty High (I Just Remember It being fun but whatever), but the difference was there. and here's the diagnosis. Also started taking the prescription (and suddenly I could actually follow the lessons without Major headhache) (that still came studying at home, but was better).

Ok, Just realized this went from rambling to oversharing, so back to the point.

As for the ways to trick executive dysfunction?

Mostly stuff I came up by mixing advice and adapting them to my personality.

Like, I find It extremely satisfying to start something at an even hour (like, I don't know, start to study at exactly 14:30?)

Also having someone in the room with me helps (mostly do this with my sister) (not the best in my opinion because I think that's just a way of using anxiety and fear of judgement, but It Is a way to use It go your advantage and if It works It works).

Also, having a set environment/routine for a set task Is good. Your brain Will associate the two and One Will eventually automatically follow the other. (Stuff like, sofa=relax desk=work no exceptions allowed, or cook-eat-clean as a single unit)

Also, starting a task from the easiest part of the One you like the most Is of help. Just like allowing yourself a short break before the task itself with something you reeeeeally enjoy (a fav song, or One of those heaven sent 15 minutes really well written chapters) (those are honestly perfection for a pre-start break, something short and enjoyable with a predetermined and firm stopping point).

Doing so will stimulates the brain to produce dopamine, the neurotransmitter whose underproduction Is the cause of adhd if I remember correctly (tell me if I'm wrong, I'm going on almost 14 years old Memories for some of this stuff). This way you Will have something ti pull you through the hardest part that Is getting started.

When I have to study when tired I have found that working with music Is sometimes an excellent way to trick my brain into believing I have stopped and blessedly chill out with the headhaches.
