There is two things about this:
1) This is most likely after the fight in Times Square, when Billy Willy is sending his prison-ship to space, and Jett is going full power.
2) This moment is also part of a tiktok compilation of the moments in the movie when Jett say “每时每刻 准时送达” (or “měi shí měi kè zhǔnshí sòng dá!” ) which is the Chinese equivalent of his catchphrase “I’m Jett, on time, Every time!”
Dude I got sad watching this scene.
Looks like it's gonna be a sad scene, where Jett struggles to throw Billy Willy's plane into space until he faints.

What do you think about the Super Wings Movie: Maximum Speed ? More especifically, the trailer and the teaser and all that ?
Haven't really got the time to dig deep into it, but so far I could see this becoming a hit for me.

The Mind’s Power Over the Body
Part Twelve: It’s Time
Story summary: They only ever had each other. It had been that way since high school, ever since Elianna transferred to dreary Arlen and took Jonathan under her wing. They go separate ways for college, and when they're reunited at Arkham Asylum professionally, Elianna comes to find that they've both changed during their time separated. Can she look past the promise of danger and stay by Jonathan's side as they slide further and further into the darkness while she grapples to come to terms with the truth about herself? Can she accept what needs to be done in order to hold onto the only person who holds any meaning in her life? This is a very self-indulgent AU that draws from several different canons of the DCU and ignoring others, starting in the Batman Begins Nolanverse. This will follow the plot of the movie, although the timeline has been very slightly tweaked.
Part One / Part Two / Part Three / Part Four / Part Five / Part Six / Part Seven / Part Eight / Part Nine / Part Ten / Part Eleven
Word count: 2524
Trigger warning for needles and toxin-induced self harm.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Jonathan asked from the kitchen for the third time in two days. Elianna rolled her eyes; she was getting sick of this conversation. "I think you're the only person who would do it voluntarily."
"You did it," she pointed out nonchalantly, around a mouthful of ice cream. She hoped he was making dinner; the dessert wouldn't hold her over forever. The day before, the two had visited her apartment ("why do you have so many plants?" "I don't know, but I'm glad I do, the air quality here is garbage.") to retrieve some perishables from the kitchen so that they didn't have to go grocery shopping.
"I did it for research. I didn't have a choice at the time. You do."
"Okay, look," El stood from the couch and joined him in the kitchen. "The chance of learning how to break down fear is just too promising to pass up," she said earnestly. "If there is even the slightest possibility of a positive outcome, I have to do it. Since I was attacked, I've just been getting more and more paranoid, and I thought it would go away once we started using it on Zsasz, but it hasn't. And paranoia is just going to turn into anxiety, which is going to turn into fear, and I just can't handle that." Jonathan opened his mouth to speak, only to be interrupted by Elianna.
"I know that there are better ways to prevent that, but if I'm going to be joining you on this project anyway, then I should get an idea of what I'm in for in case of any accidents! I mean, I appreciate that you're worried, but I just don't understand why you don't think I can do this."
Jonathan sighed and rubbed his forehead, leaning against the counter; he knew that she was right, but...
"Because I don't know what it will do to your psyche. When I built up my immunity, it wasn't on purpose, and we have no way of knowing if it will do the same for you." El mulled it over, carefully considering what he had to say.
"I understand. But like I said, would you rather me be exposed here, in a controlled, safe environment, or on accident at a time when it really matters? It's almost guaranteed to happen anyway, so I still think that I should at least know what to expect." She reiterated resolutely. "We're doing this."
Jonathan saw the firm determination in her eyes and knew that at this point, there was no way to talk her out of it. If he didn't expose her to it, she would do it herself, and the results could be infinitely worse than if he just went along with it.
But that didn't mean that he had to be happy about it.
"Fine." He lifted himself from the counter and turned to continue what he had been doing before—making dinner, I knew it! El put her ice cream away before sitting on the counter, swinging her legs a little. "I know you're bored, but do you have to...hover?"
"I don't have anything else to do! If you have any ideas, I'd be happy to hear them."
"You could go out or something; I don't know. Look at you, go to any bar you don't even need to take any money. Someone would cover your tab." He sounded almost bitter. What's that about?
"Yeah, that's a great idea. When I get murdered, then you wouldn't have to give me the toxin." She shot back.
"I thought you had a guardian angel."
"Oh yeah, I forgot about that guy. I wonder what he's up to."
"I don't care." God, what is he so upset about?
"You probably will in a few months. Maybe we should follow the news more closely." Nothing. El let out a short breath. Fine. "I know you don't want to talk about it anymore," she started quietly, "and I'm sorry that I'm making you do it." He didn't turn to look at her or even stop what he was doing when he spoke.
"You don't have to apologize. I understand why you want to do it, and I do want to help. I just wish you had taken the time to think about it before your decision."
"Fine, but I've thought it through now."
"I know. Since you're so sure, we can start tomorrow after work."
"Here?" He nodded.
"You'll want to be comfortable when it wears off, trust me." El smiled and slid off the counter. Satisfied with the way the conversation turned out, she went to take a shower.
"No going back now," She called over her shoulder.
"Wouldn't dream of it."
.xXx.
It was a slow day. A really, really, really slow day.
"Seriously, universe? Today?" El groaned, spinning back and forth in her chair idly. Of all days, why was she only assigned one session today? She had forgotten to check her schedule before leaving the previous day, so she hadn't even known that she could go in late. I hate looking forward to things.
For the time being, she resorted herself to see how fast she could spin her chair without knocking it over and found very quickly that the answer was 'too fast.' Way too fast. Already bored of that, she laid her head on the desk, trying to think of anything she could do. Finally, she decided to go on a walk, see if she could find Harley or Jonathan.
It took a while of wandering before El finally caught sight of blonde hair crossing the upstairs foyer from the west wing to the east wing. "Harley!" She called after her friend, jogging slightly to catch up. "Hey, how's it going?"
"Real good!" The blonde seemed more excited than usual. "I just got assigned to one of the maximum-security cases!"
"Oh, that's great!" El forced a smile, suddenly very worried about her friend. She had been assigned a max security case with Zsasz based on her work record, and it hadn't exactly ended up well.
"I know! I've been waitin' ages to get a career-making case finally, and I finally got one! I got my first session with her tomorrow." Her?
"Who is it?"
"She goes by Poison Ivy; she's an eco-terrorist. She's got this connection with plants. Apparently, she can control them, and she goes after organizations that harm the environment."
"Well, she sounds like a badass; you'll have to let me know how it goes."
"Of course, I will. They're gonna write books about me." Harley looked at El with bright eyes, and the redhead couldn't help but smile at the thought of her friend's face plastered on a biography all over Gotham.
"Just make sure to be careful okay, those guys are in maximum security for a reason." El found herself subconsciously moving the hair that fell over her forehead, where she would surely have a scar.
"Don't you worry about me, honey. What are you doin' today?"
"Apparently nothing for another few hours." Elianna sighed.
"Aw. Anything interesting?" She shook her head in response.
"I think Jonathan asked them to keep the dangerous ones away from me until I have more experience here. I mean, Zsasz didn't kill me. It's not like I'm helpless, right? I was savvy enough to get away twice." Harley bobbed her head in agreement with a sympathetic look.
"Well, maybe he's right; you're new in Gotham. It might not be a bad idea to let you settle in a while longer."
"Yeah, but now I'm only treating patients with borderline anxiety disorders. Borderline, Harls!"
"Aw," the blonde tsked and patted her friend's arm. "I'm sorry, honey, it'll get better. Oh, shoot!" She checked her watch. "I gotta go, I'm gonna be late. Maybe we should get lunch this weekend, whaddya think?"
"Yeah, that sounds nice. Go on. I'll talk to you later." El sighed as Harley rushed off to her appointment. That didn't last nearly long enough. She was now stuck where she had been before and made her way back to her office.
Who would have thought there would be so little to do in the most notorious asylum in America?
.xXx.
Finally, the end of the day came, but Jonathan's awful speed limit driving made Elianna antsy. She was so close. Besides all of the reasons she had given Jonathan over the last few days, she couldn't help but be curious about what it was like to be under the influence of the fear toxin. Seeing Zsasz's reaction had sparked an interest in the experience, although she couldn't fathom why.
"It's weird, isn't it?" She asked half an hour later as she helped Jonathan put leftover takeout in the fridge.
"What is?"
"Coincidence. Probability. Chaos theory."
"You need to stop watching Jurassic Park. It's turning you into a monster."
"Over my dead body, and you know what I mean." Jonathan closed the fridge as they finished and looked at her expectantly. "Well, my mom and I just happened to move to Arlen, out of all the places we were looking at. Then we happened to move down the road from you, and we had some classes in common. And even after all that, I still could have been really shitty and tormented you, or ignored you, or you could have been successful in keeping me away. Then we still managed to stay in touch after high school from opposite sides of the country, which is super rare, even in friends, and on top of all that we happen to have the same interests, and now here we are working in the same place after all of that, which led to tonight. To the decision I made."
Jonathan considered her words, leaning back against the counter, eventually nodding in agreement.
"It's not too late." He said quietly. "You can still change your mind."
"I'm not having seconds thoughts." El insisted gently, standing next to him and leaning her head against his arm. "Actually, I was thinking about how lucky I am to have this opportunity. Do you know how many people would jump at the chance to confront their fears? To try and fix themselves?
"Yes, I do, and it's not a good thing." El looked up at him, surprised by the empathy. "If no one were affected by fear, then none of this would be possible, and I wouldn't be able to continue my research." El stared at him in incredulous silence before laughing.
"Because that's what it all comes down to. You're really fucked up, honey."
"Look who's talking." He said with a little smile. He couldn't put it off any longer. Scarecrow was ecstatic that Elianna had volunteered for this, and it was giving him a headache. "Come on, let's get started. I'm going to give you a small dose, so hopefully, you'll be able to sleep afterward." El nodded as they straightened up, making their way to the bedroom.
She could hear Jonathan adjusting the bedsheets while she was in the closet, putting on more comfortable clothes. When she came out, he had folded them all to the end of the bed so that she wouldn't get tangled.
"I'm going to say this in advance: shut up." El gave him a confused look as he opened the false bottom of his briefcase and produced a set of four restraint cuffs that were usually attached to the medical beds, at which point she raised an eyebrow. "We needed a way to holds your limbs down so that you don't hurt either of us, just...don't." He said exasperatedly as he began to affix them to the head and footboards. El snorted, with a little smile; there was nothing she could say to make fun of him that Scarecrow probably wasn't saying already.
"Do people...hurt themselves often?" Jonathan nodded.
"Once or twice, they try to gouge out their own eyes, things like that." El swallowed herd, suddenly very glad to have such a thorough friend. "Which reminds me, I didn't think about it earlier, but I do have neighbors. We'll need to find something for you to bite down on; I've also had people bite through their own tongues." At that, El shivered and returned to her duffle bag, where she knew she had packed an old belt.
"How often would you say that happens?"
"Not too much, but it does make a mess, and we sleep here." Despite her sudden nervousness, El laughed softly at the ever-tactful Jonathan Crane. Normally she might be upset with him after that comment, but here she was volunteering for that risk.
She set the belt on the edge of the bed and positioned herself in the middle of the mattress, trying to prepare herself for something from which she didn't have a clear idea of what to expect. Gently, Jonathan lifted her head and slid a pillow underneath; the small act of care made her smile to herself as he continued to secure her wrists and ankles, careful not to tighten the restraints too much.
He took a few extra minutes to prepare the serum, during which she agreed to let him take notes. If they were moving ahead with this anyway, he might as well conduct his research on a new subject.
Jonathan was just about to put the belt in her mouth when El had a sudden thought, turning her face away. "Scarecrow, he's under control? He isn't going to try anything, is he?"
"No. He's excited, but he promised to be good. And he's impressed that you're doing this willingly." Satisfied with the answer, El nodded and let the belt between her teeth, biting down securely.
At that point, Jonathan prepared the syringe with a translucent fluid, flicking the chamber and getting rid of any air bubbles. "This is an old batch, so the effects might be a little less intense than they would normally be." Unable to speak, El nodded. He swabbed clean a patch of skin on her arm and gave her a look, giving her one last chance to change her mind. With no fault in her resolution, he finally pricked her vein and injected the serum into her bloodstream.
The concoction was thick, and El could feel it burning through her veins for only a moment
and then everything took a turn for the worse.

Having the Time of My Life Overanalyzing Voltron Science, A Visual Novel
The team’s little mantra in the original show was “ Activate interlock! Dynotherms connected! Infracells up! Mega thrusters are go! Let’s go Voltron Force!” And they said this each and every single time their 5 lions formed together into the combined robot.
In today’s essay I will be deeply examining and wildly speculating about what exactly interlocks, dynatherms, infracells, and mega thrusters are, why it’s entirely crucial that these 4 items be part of the Voltron preflight checklist, and explaining why (or at least inferring that) you should take it all seriously.
Interlock
The Interlock is easy. It’s probably whatever system is used to attach the 5 lions together. So what are they? Magnets? Docking rings like on spacecraft? Just mechanical latches? Hard to say. But something as simple as a mechanical latch isn’t something you’d have to ‘activate’ or actively call out during pre-flight, so I would suspect ‘interlock’ is likely a catch-all term for not only the mechanical attachments, but also the control circuit used to synchronize the computers onboard all 5 lions. It would be a complex integrated system within the black lion, which also explains why they refer to it in the singular instead of plural.
Without the interlock, Voltron would just be the 5 lion with their individual brains tied together like duct-taped dogs. The interlock synchronizes them into a common intelligence, under the direction of the centralized black lion.
I don’t know what the mechanical structure of the interlocks would be. Conventional material science would suggest that a robot as large as Voltron wouldn’t be able to even stand, let alone run and jump and fight, so even if we assume nearly-indestructible exotic alien materials, I think you would still want something more than hooks and pins to connect the various pieces together. It would be best if the actual structural elements could somehow fuse at the molecular level. Welding is the most obvious method for that, but there’s also Vaan-Der-Waals forces, which could bond together flat surfaces that could then be slid apart. And maybe if you had superconducting cables running between the elements and then ran a ton of current through them, then you could use magnetic binding? I’m not sure if that would work, but it sounds futuristic enough to be true. IDK.
Dynatherms
I can’t tell if this is ‘dynatherms’ or ‘dinotherms’, but the first sounds less prehistoric, so I’ll go with that. So it sounds like pieces of the words ‘dynamic’ and ‘thermal’ mashed together, which don’t really mean anything except in the context of thermodynamics, so.... What is this? A reactor? A steam engine?
Of all the various components this one puzzled me longest, but I think I’ve got it.
The dynatherms are the cooling system, meant to radiate away the massive amounts of heat its engines and motors would generate. Most spacecraft, heck most vehicles in general, have a system analogous to this. Here’s the one the ISS uses:
Voltron doesn’t have any weird extendo-wings like this, but it’s conceivable that they could be built directly into the outer layer of its armor. The black lion’s little red wings are likely a part of the system too. If you ask me, the surface area of its armor isn’t nearly enough to dissipate enough heat to keep a thing like this cool, but I think I can ignore that.
So anyway. At first this explanation doesn’t seem to fit, since they say ‘dynatherms connected’, not ‘coolant pumps started’ or ‘refrigerant levels maximum’ or something. You don’t ‘connect’ the heat radiators, they’re always connected. You just pump water through them. Right?
Wrong! Here’s my sufficiently futuristic explanation: Voltron’s cooling system doesn’t use coolant and pumps or any type of conventional refrigeration at all! Instead, the ‘dynatherms’ are a network of thermally superconductive cables connecting all its motors and engines to radiative armor panels on the exterior. Thermal superconductivity is a concept I learned from Star Wars and later found out is a real-ish thing. Basically any vibrations in any part of a thermally-superconductive material can frictionlessly travel to any other part of the material. Since temperature is based on vibrations, this means that if a hot thing touches one part of the material, everything else touching the material can instantly feel that heat, and even dissipate that heat. You can think of it as Marvel vibranium or as warmth communism.
Since there’s no fluid flow, the only way to control this cooling system or increase or decrease its dissipation is to connect and disconnect individual cables. Hence why they would have to connect the dynatherms before forming Voltron; combat in combined robot mode is one of the most taxing conditions of the machine’s operation, so they need all the cooling they can get.
Infracells
Now HERE’S where it starts to get interesting. ‘Infra’ roughly means ‘below’. To take the most common example, take ‘infrared’ light, that is, light existing at frequencies lower red light, which is itself the lowest frequency in the visible spectrum. Infrared is invisible, so the only way to describe its color is ‘somewhere below red’.
So as far as I can tell, ‘infracells’ could mean one of three things. They could be some kind of infrared light sensors, like FLIR imagers used for night vision and targeting on modern military equipment (which I consider unlikely, since that’s not the type of thing you would specifically call out during the preflight, or something intrinsically useful to the Voltron assembly process.) Or it could be an armor layer consisting of some kind of cells literally ‘below’ the rest of the armor (which I also consider unlikely, because why would that be important to the Voltron assembly either? You wouldn’t need to even worry about it until you take damage to the outer armor layer, right?) Or, finally and most interestingly, it could have something to do with lower frequencies or lower speeds in general.
Here’s my theory:
The infracells cause time itself to run differently. You all saw the movie Interstellar, where time aboard the spacecraft passed slower for the crew whenever they were inside powerful gravity wells. If you had high buildups of negative energy within cells inside Voltron, it would produce the opposite effect, causing time to move faster inside the cells than outside. Anything inside would experience the rest of the universe in slower motion, meaning lower acceleration, lower forces, and lower stress.
Therefore, if such ‘infracells’ were installed around Voltron’s skeletal frame and motors, it may explain the machine’s great strength and indestructibility. And it would make sense that this would be the type of thing they would call out during the pre-flight, as even one down infracell could spell disaster once that section of the frame is attempting to support the entire weight of the robot; it would buckle and break. Every infracell needs to be up before forming Voltron.
Mega thrusters
Now, this just sounds silly. They’re likely the engines that Voltron uses to fly, but the show creators put ‘mega’ in front of the name to sound cool. Might as well call them ‘super rockets’ or ‘the ultra drive’, right? But mega is an interesting word, as it’s actually a scientific term in the metric system meaning to multiply by a million. Like a kilometer is a thousand meters and a kilogram is a thousand grams, a megameter is a million meters, and a megagram is a 1000 kilograms. You may have heard of ‘megaton’ when referring to nuclear explosives; a three-megaton bomb is a bomb with the explosive yield equivalent to three million tons of TNT. A lot.
So, uh,
Why would you call a thruster a ‘mega thruster’, then?
Well, I know approximately jack-diddly about the original show, but I know that in the newer show, most large spacecraft in the universe get their energy not from nuclear reactors or solar cells, but rather from Balmeran crystals. The crystals are able to produce apparently infinite energy so long as you don’t damage them or overtax them. I don’t know where the crystals get their infinite energy, but that’s not what I’m here to speculate about, so I’ll just treat that as one of the universe’s rules, like bending in Avatar.
So! How do you set that up to make an engine? Well, infinite power is good! Higher power to the engine means hotter, faster exhaust, and hotter, faster exhaust means higher fuel efficiency and higher thrust. So the question becomes, how do you get the most power in the safest and most efficient way possible?
For the sake of some rules, let’s say that you need to give the crystals a little bit of stimulating energy to make them produce energy. That seems fair, I think. Let’s say they produce 5 times the energy they absorb.
So you give a crystal 1 watt, you get 5. That’s great; that means if we need 50 billion watts to run the thruster, we just need to get a big crystal, and feed it 10 billion watts. However! Where do we get that initial 10 billion watts? Well we could just take a portion of the crystal’s own output and cycle it back around to the input, but that’s a dangerous game to play, since if the percentage you cycle around is even slightly more than 20%, you could create a “positive feedback loop” where more input means more output, which leads to greater input which leads to even greater output, and so on and so on until the crystal breaks or the ship blows up or something generally unfavorable happens. This is approximately the experience of the people at Chernobyl, and is not recommended.
So instead of having crystals feed themselves, you’d instead want them to be fed exclusively by an external source, like a battery or an entirely separate smaller crystal. So the initial crystal would feed larger ones, which would feed larger ones, and so on, each stage in the chain becoming more powerful, but always stable and dependent on some initial external input, so as to never go out of control.
And now, I’m thinking it would be nice from an engineering perspective to have all the crystals together in one shielded location. And from a tactical perspective, it would be nice not to have a bunch of bulky, vulnerable, high-energy cables running around the entire vehicle. So, you would want as many crystal stages as possible in the places where the power is needed most. Namely, the engines.
Therefore, a big part of the engines would be made of armored shells to contain dozens of stacks of crystal beds. They would accept a small amount of power at the top, and multiply it internally to get enormous output at the bottom. Hence, ‘mega’ thruster. It multiplies input by a million.
Boom.
Done.
Headcanon deployed.
So now the next time you’re watching some stupid show and think that something doesn’t make sense, pause to consider that maybe you’re just not using enough imagination, or else I will be with you in spirit to wrong-shame you.
(If you use your imagination and it still doesn’t make sense, then don’t worry. This means that the show is trash and you are right.)
Now go to bed.

Wanda : High School Reunion
Pair: Wanda x Fem!Reader
Word Count: 2.5 K (sorry it’s so long whoops)
Summary: (Y/N) gets a letter from her old high school about the upcoming reunion; an event she would be more than willing to miss, but after certain events, she is dragged back to her former hell where she was taunted for being “different”.
Warnings: Some cursing. Derogatory terms (dyke & fag). Please do not use these terms in real life. Any homophobes can kindly get the fuckity fuck outta my life and off my feed.
A/N: I’ve decided to make a series about the Reader’s HSR. Most will be genderneutral unless specified (like this one).
“That was exhausting!!” (Y/N) exclaimed, flopping onto the couch once the team arrived back to the tower after an important mission in Europe. Clint just laughed.
“You always say that, squirt!” He yelled back, going over and ruffling (Y/N)’s hair. “No matter what, whether it’s fighting aliens to changing the channel on the TV!”
(Y/N) huffed, “Well I mean it! We spent over a week in Europe to stake out our targets, and when we finally tried to raid their base, that happened to be the day that all the nearby branches were meeting for tactical training! And don’t call me ‘squirt’! You do it just because I’m younger! Ugh, I just need a nap. Or a drink.”
The Avengers agreed, each of them cringing after remembering the poor planning and how we were almost out-numbered. Tony came in, their mail in one hand and some sort of alcohol in the other. “I’ll drink to that.”
He started passing out the envelopes and packages. Clint got a postcard from his kids (aww), Thor and Steve got some packages, intrigued by the wonder that is Amazon, and (Y/N) got a simple, small white envelope. And with that, most of the team went their separate ways.
“What is that?” a certain Sokovian woman asked, leaning over (Y/N)’s shoulder from behind the couch while Pietro rushed over and sat next to her, giving the same questioning look.
(Y/N) has always been closer to the Maximoff twins since they arrived. Maybe it was due to the fact that she joined barely a month before they joined, so they were all newbies and learning the ropes together. Being a rather enhanced being herself, (Y/N) grew the closest to Pietro. They would often race and compete and just have fun.
While she didn’t have the super-speed that Pietro had, (Y/N) did have gigantic wings; courtesy of Hydra experiments to discover whether humans could adapt animal traits for battle. Of course, what they didn’t see coming was that with the animal experiments came with enhanced sight, hearing, and strength. Using her abilities, she seized an opportunity when they were transferring her to another facility. From there, she made her way to New York to seek guidance from the Avengers. The rest is history.
(Y/N) shrugged, just as curious as the twins. She didn’t bother examining the envelope and just ripped it open, pulling out a piece of white cardstock with fancy golden lettering. She barely finished reading the second line before she scoffed and tried to rip it.
“Wait!” Wanda yelled before the speedster grabbed the paper from (Y/N)’s hand and gave it to his lovely sister to read aloud. (Y/N) protested and tried to rip it from her hand, but Pietro held her back. “‘Dear (F/N) (L/N), come join in on the fun as the Class of 2008 regroups in our lovely Faybrook! Dance, laugh, and reminisce about the golden days! We hope to see you there.’”
They just looked at (Y/N), who finally used a wing to shove Pietro aside to grab the letter and rip it up.
“Why did you do that? Don’t you want to go?” He asked, him and Wanda sharing the same stare at her. (Y/N) just shook her head.
“Nah. It wouldn’t be worth my time, trust me.”
“Oh come on! A chance to see all your old friends and classmates? And I’m sure you were very popular and just as charming and beautiful as you are now!” Pietro grinned. Wanda nodded, imagining what a high school version of (Y/N) looked like and repressed a blush. However, she still shook her head, falling onto the couch and groaning.
“Try nerdy and quirky with acne, big owl-eyed glasses and a maximum of 5 friends. High school wasn’t the… nicest time for me. In all honesty, I only enjoyed 20% of it. I mean sure, my teachers were nice and my parents were cool, but…” She stopped, remembering too much from her past. The twins urged her to continue, but her demeanor grew cold. “You know what, forget it.”
She rushed off to her room, slamming the door behind her and staying in the rest of the day. The twins knew they hit a nerve and grew worried, but let her heal.
-1 Month Later-
The Avengers had been called to handle what was believed to be an alien threat building in Georgia, but it turns out a SHIELD agent who was visiting NYC stole some of Thor’s Asgardian alcohol and falsely reported to Fury that aliens were pooling in a major city. What he failed to report was that the aliens were ‘pink, scaly bipeds with the head of a horse with 3 eyes and only spoke in Japanese.’ Needless to say, the Avengers went there for no reason and the agent was reprimanded.
They were packing all their stuff back onto the Quinjet; everybody but one. (Y/N) just sat at the entrance of the ship, staring out into the sunset sky. Just over the horizon, maybe 20 miles from here, was the place she used to call home. She debated in her mind. Should she go check it out? Was it even the same since before she left?
(Y/N)’s thoughts were interrupted by approaching footsteps and a light pat on the shoulder. She jumps a little bit but relaxes when she realizes it’s just Wanda. They both smiled at each other as Wanda sat down next to her.
“Is everything alright?” (Y/N) heard her ask, her Sokovian accent soothing to her. (Y/N) gave a slight nod and tilted her head to look at her.
“Of course it is. We avoided another boring mission and we’re about to go home. Why wouldn’t everything be ok?”
“You look… distressed.” Wanda put a hand on (Y/N)’s knee, to which she blushed and put her own hand on top. “If you need anything, even if it’s just to talk, know that I’m always here for you.”
(Y/N) gave a smile of acknowledgment and leaned her head on Wanda’s shoulder, the twin moving her hand to run her fingers through (Y/N)’s hair.
Before long, the team was ready to leave.
“Hey, Red and Birdie, you ready to head out?” Tony yelled at the two women at the end of the jet. Wanda nodded, but (Y/N) just stood up before turning to her friends.
“Actually, Tony, I think I’m going to spend some more time here. Just a night. Go on and head back to the tower. You know I have my own mode of transport.” (Y/N) said, winking at the billionaire at her last remark. The Avengers were confused but knew that she was a grown woman and she’d be fine. Wanda just looked at her, a little worry in her eyes. (Y/N) grabbed her hands, trying to push down the urge to pull her into her embrace. “Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”
She said her goodbyes before walking away, not looking back. Wanda wished she did. Just for her.
(Y/N) flew those miles back to her hometown; Faybrook. A small town just close enough to the city to not die of boredom, but a place where everyone knows just about everyone. That’s not always a good thing. Just being in the area again gave (Y/N) unwelcome memories. She knew she needed a stiff drink.
Of course, there was only one bar in town, so she headed there. Ollie’s Night Shack. The same neon lights that blinded her as a child were still there, maybe a bit dimmer, but everything looked exactly the same. She walked in, not caring that she was still wearing her Avengers tactical uniform. As soon as she plopped herself at the bar, she heard the whispers and felt the stares. She looked at the clock. It wasn’t even 7PM, didn’t these people have better things to do than judge?
(Y/N) ordered a whiskey, but didn’t drink it. Just swirled it around the glass. She saw some familiar faces. No one bad, but not outstanding characters either. However, it was just enough to make her regret coming. She should head out before -
“Holy shit, no way.” She heard a voice say before whoever owned it sat next to her. (Y/N) turned and grinned when she saw a friendly face. “I can’t believe you actually made it!”
“Well, I’ll be damned! If it isn’t Sammy! How’ve you been? Where’s your brother?” She replied, still shocked that the dorky kid she knew grew a good foot taller than her. She felt a hand clap on her back before the seat on the other side of her was taken.
“His brother is right here acting as this smart-ass’ plus one. What’s up hot stuff? God look at how you’ve grown! Found a girlfriend yet?” (Y/N) just laughed and shoved him.
“Shut up Dean! Now, back to what Sammy-boy said. What do you mean you ‘can't’ believe I made it’?” They looked at each other, then back at her.
“You mean you’re not here for the reunion?” Dean asked. Her eyes grew wide and she looked around again, scolding herself for not noticing the banner that said “Class of 2008”.
“Shit… I forgot that was today. Of course they hold it in this place.” (Y/N) sighed, realizing she should’ve left with the team when she had the chance. After an hour of talking with the brothers and catching up (without all the details of their jobs of course), along with catching with some others who passed by, (Y/N) wasn’t feeling as regretful. That is until they walked in.
The Plastics. A name given to the group because of a certain movie, but it still applied. The four girls that made it their mission to make (Y/N)’s life on Earth a living hell. Just because she was different. Of course, where there’s bait there are sharks, and (Y/N) sure felt them circling. It was only a matter of time before they took a bite.
“Well well well. If it isn’t (Y/N). I love your suit! Very dyke chic!” Leader, Bridgett, said first, her goons- Alexis, Katie, and Naomi- chuckling behind her. Not even five minutes in the door and already reformed to the high school days. Lovely.
“Gee, thanks, Brie. Maybe I could give you some numbers. I know some girls that would love you. They would love making a bitch like you their own” She retorted, smirking a bit at their faces fell. This bait learned how to fight back. Something they didn’t expect. Something lead bitch couldn’t accept.
“Of course a dumb fag like you would have other lesbian’s numbers! Probably the only way you can live is passing yourself around for a quick buck!”
“First of all, I’m not a lesbian. Yes, I’m interested in, but not limited to, girls. And at least I get some action! Your dry spell must be like the Sahara desert at this point.” One of her minions stifled her laughter, and Bridgett was having none of it. Her anger boiled over as she grabbed (Y/N) by the hair and threw her down onto the bar floor (ew). Now all eyes were on them.
“YOU’RE NOTHING, YOU KNOW THAT?! YOU’RE STILL THE SAME LITTLE NERDY DYKE FREAK FROM 10 YEARS AGO WHERE THE ONLY THING YOU WERE GOOD FOR WAS TO DO OUR HOMEWORK!!” She was about to punch (Y/N) when a strong hand stopped her. She looked back and almost stopped breathing.
“You see, I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” A certain metal-armed super soldier said, malice in his voice. The twins rushed over to (Y/N) to help her up as the rest of the Avengers came through the doorway. Wanda wrapped a protective arm around (Y/N) and glared at the girls, who were now scared shitless that Earth’s mightiest heroes came to her rescue. (Y/N) could see red whisps form in the air; she knew Wanda was getting really mad. She put her hand on Wanda’s face, forcing her to make eye contact.
“I’m fine” (Y/N) said. Wanda calmed down and gave a quick scan over her body to make sure she was telling the truth, and then she brought her in a bear hug. (Y/N) was shocked, but she melted. After reassuring her, (Y/N) turned to her former bullies, who were now being mentally slaughtered by her friends. Her family. She stepped up, grabbing the attention of everyone.
“H-How…” She couldn’t even finish.
“You see, while you were here living the boring life a trophy wife and only pretending to be rich - even though we all know it’s the money from your 3 divorces - I went out and saved people. I did something worthwhile with my life. I found a team that I can actually call my family. Hell, I fell in love! Although I whine and come home with wounds every day, I can honestly say I fucking love my life. Why must you waste yours?” Bridgett couldn’t even talk anymore as (Y/N) rendered her utterly speechless. Partly from the speech, and partly from the fact that during her speech her wings had spread out, going from wall to wall. “Now… Get out.”
They scrambled to leave, almost running into Tony - fully decked out in his Iron Man suit. She folded her wings back and took a deep breath. After those years of torment, she felt amazing getting back at them. Her friends looked back at her, absolutely proud. Tony and Clint looked like proud dads, Nat looked like she knew she had it in her. Everyone just grinned.
Wanda hugged her tightly again, laughing as (Y/N) decided to twirl her around. (Y/N) felt on top of the world, and Wanda being there only amplified it. They stopped for a second, looking into each other’s eyes. In the heat of the moment, (Y/N) swooped down and stole a kiss from the Witch. She quickly realized what she did and backed away.
“I-I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to - well I mean I did - well not really, but -” Now (Y/N) was the speechless one.
“Shut up and kiss me, Lyubov*.” Wanda grabbed her face and brought (Y/N)’s face to meet hers. The kiss couldn’t have lasted longer than a minute, but it was long enough for all the hidden feelings to bubble to the surface. All the love and passion they felt for each other was said in that one kiss. They could’ve sworn they were the only ones in that room - in the universe, even - if it wasn’t for the howls and hollers from their teammates and some of the bar patrons.
Wanda pulled away first, resting her head against (Y/N)’s. Both of them grinning like mad women. Some of the team came by and congratulated the two women before enjoying what was left of the reunion with Tony buying a round of shots for the entire bar. At least now (Y/N) can say she was genuinely happy she came to the reunion.
*Lyubov = love in Russian. I did google translate sorry if it’s wrong. ;-;

2021 Aston Martin V12 Speedster First Look: James Bond Meets Top Gun
You can almost hear the slap-bass opening before the chugging guitar riff lights up and driving drumbeat kicks in and Kenny starts to croon: Revvin’ up your engine/Listen to her howling roar/Metal under tension/Beggin’ you to touch and go … Highway to the danger zone …
OK, this 2021 Aston Martin V12 Speedster features a specification inspired by the F/A-18 Super Hornet rather than the F-14 Tomcat that starred in the original Top Gun movie. But with a 700-hp twin-turbo V-12 under the hood, a 186-mph top speed, and no windshield, this $950,000 hand-built roadster, one of the most extreme Aston Martin road cars yet, is designed to deliver fighter-pilot thrills without leaving terra firma.
Sensible? Not for a second. But that’s the whole point. Created by “Q by Aston Martin,” the company’s bespoke customization service, the V12 Speedster is a living show car, Aston says. Just 88 of them will be built, with deliveries to customers beginning in the first quarter of 2021.
The Specs
The V12 Speedster is built on a unique platform that combines elements of the bonded aluminum structures that underpin the DBS Superleggera and the smaller Vantage, along with various bits of mechanical hardware. Suspension is multilink all around, with coil springs and adaptive damping that can be switched between Sport, Sport+, and Track modes. Wheels are 21-inch forged center-lock alloys, and brakes carbon ceramic, with 16.1-inch rotors up front and 14.2-inch units at the rear.
In addition to that headline-grabbing 700 hp, the Aston Martin–designed 5.2-liter twin-turbo V-12 pumps out 556 lb-ft of torque. Not quite the epic 715 hp and 664 lb-ft the engine makes in the Superleggera, but still grunt enough to make the lighter V12 Speedster two-tenths of a second quicker to 60 mph, completing the sprint in just 3.5 seconds according to Aston Martin’s figures.
The transmission is the familiar eight-speed ZF automatic used in every other modern Aston apart from the manual transmission Vantage, and the drive is funneled earthward via a limited-slip differential. A specially designed stainless-steel exhaust features centrally positioned twin pipes exiting through the rear diffuser.
The V-12 engine was a core part of the Speedster’s design brief, Aston Martin design director Miles Nurnberger says: “This car has been created to deliver an incredibly visceral experience. That’s why it is a V-12 rather than a V-8. We are amplifying all the emotional strings that we can to the absolute maximum.”
Carbon-Fiber Bodywork and Jet-Inspired Styling
All hardware is wrapped in a unique body created almost entirely from carbon fiber under Nurnberger’s direction. He says the V12 Speedster takes a very different approach to the forward-looking designs of the DB11 and Vantage models. Instead, the V12 Speedster glances back, with nods to historic Aston race cars such as the 1953 DB3S, especially around the midsection of the car, plus the 1959 Le Mans–winning DBR1, echoed in the low-slung grille and the streamlining humps behind the driver and passenger seats. The intake vent at the leading edge of the hood recalls the iconic DB4/DB5/DB6 road cars.
In many ways the V12 Speedster could be viewed as basically an update of the CC100 Speedster Concept shown by Aston to celebrate its centenary in 2013. But the surfaces are tauter, the body sections more muscular, and it’s not entirely a look in the rearview mirror: The front graphic is very contemporary production Aston, and the rear wing with an integrated light is a clever nod to the rear-end graphics of both the current Vantage and the forthcoming DBX SUV.
Fighter jets? The bodywork that runs between driver and passenger separates the open cockpit into two teardrop-shaped voids that look ready for a pair of F/A-18 canopies. The clear housings on the humps behind the occupants amplify the effect, and they allow you to see the custom full-face helmets stored there—mandatory wear if you plan on driving the V12 Speedster above 20 mph and want to return with your face intact.
This particular V12 Speedster is also shown in a technical “Q by Aston Martin” color and trim scheme inspired by the F/A-18. The exterior is finished in Skyfall Silver, with satin black on the exhaust tips, vents, and grille. The interior features dark satin dark chrome, machined aluminum, black leather, black technical textile, and black carpets, with strategically placed contrasting bright red straps echoing the “remove before flight” ribbons you see dangling from a parked Hornet. And in case you miss the gag, there are tiny F/A-18 logos and silhouettes on the doors and dash.
With all that power and dynamics tuned by Aston chassis whizz Matt Becker and his team, the wind-in-your-face Aston Martin V12 Speedster promises to be quite a ride. Do you feel the need?

CHECK PRICE ON AMAZON
If you need a router, it’s best you get one that has the best values for the price you pay, and the Hitachi M12V2 is precisely that. Why? Well, you get everything you would with a full-size router, but at a much lower price and in a compact product. The router works well and can help you finish up many different woodworking projects over the house.
What do you get?
Upon purchase, you will receive all the necessary equipment you need for all types of woodwork you could do with this router. You will get a 1/2-inch collet, a smaller 1/4-inch collet, a straight guide that will make trimming and edging much easier, a centering gauge, a dust adapter, wing screws, and the wrench needed to change bits.
Design and build
We have to say that as far as the design goes, the Hitachi M12V2 looks great. It looks like some device from an alien movie because of the green and black plastic cover. You can see right away that this is a product that’s made to last. Everything looks and feels durable and well-made. The machine weighs in at almost 14 pounds which is a bit heavy, but that’s the price durability.
This is perhaps the best plunge router from Hitachi, and it packs quite a punch. The 3.5 HP motor is designed to tackle heavy duty jobs with ease. Every component used to build this tool is of top quality, including the seamless plastic top.
What’s more important is that the center axis of the motor and the base plate are aligned perfectly. Each unit is hand tested before it leaves the factory.
READ AMAZON REVIEWS
The motor can produce 15 amps of power, putting it among the most potent routers you can buy today. You can use a switch to control the power of the motor anywhere between 8000 and 22000 RPM. The motor is a bit slow at lower speeds, but it can still perform as you expect it to. The on/off switch is located conveniently next to your right thumb, and you don’t have to hold it down the entire time you’re working.
The base of the Hitachi M12V2 has a circular shape, and the rear is straight to allow the guide fence to be attached. The subbase is made out of plastic and is held in place with four screws. You have to take it off and use the same holes to attach the router to a workbench.
Features of the Hitachi M12V2
Apart from providing lots of power and being able to finish up all kinds of woodworking projects, this router has a couple of useful features that make operating it very smooth and easy. The soft-start tech built in the unit helps you make perfect cuts even on the hardest wood. This tool is very popular among carpenters and woodworkers.
The router is easily customizable as it comes with plenty of accessories, all designed to make different woodworking jobs easier. Changing bits is super easy, and it takes only a couple of seconds. You can quickly change the router to a plunger or attach it to a table if working on larger projects. The collets that come with this router give you even more versatility.
Every tool coming from Hitachi has an ergonomic shape, and this one is no exception. The two large handles on each side give you control and enhance comfort. The weight of the router keeps it stable while you work so that you can route with only one hand. The handles are coated with an elastic compound that reduces vibration, prevents slipping and gives you maximum control over your work. The dust guide is there to protect the motor and work surface from debris, keeping your workspace clear so you can concentrate on the cuts.
The adjustable depth stops and rotating turret are very accurate, so you can use the machine for decorative woodwork. The depth scale is also impressive, and it has both metric and imperial units. The mechanism looks a bit odd, but it works well and is super accurate, which is the most important thing.
What’s wrong with the product?
Let’s just be clear on one thing first, the positives of this product far outweigh the negatives, that’s for sure. With that said, we think that the plunge lock is a little hard to use with one hand, especially during cutting. The plunge lock can also make some problems because it loses grip due to vibration so you’ll have to check the depth often. Also, the weight and size of the machine make it too bulky for fine woodwork, but then again, it’s not what it’s made for.
THE CONCLUSION
If you want to buy a full-size router that can work with hardwood and help you finish all kinds of jobs quickly and effortlessly, the Hitachi M12V2 is the ideal pick for you. It provides the power and the performance you would usually expect from a tool that’s much more expensive than this one. Furthermore, it’s well-engineered and features a plunge mechanism so that you can use it as a plunger too. The only real drawback has to be the plunge lock that just gets in the way.
This is not a tool that’s designed for fine work; it’s a heavy tool for heavy work. It’s easy to operate, you have plenty of control and options, and the machine comes with all of the extra parts you could need. So, if you want to buy a plunger router that will work like a charm for years, this is without the one for you.

DJI Mavic Pro: Best Drone For Travel? (Plus Tips & Tricks)
DJI Mavic Pro Drone Review
Gear Review
Drones are incredible tools for capturing images & video in a totally different perspective. With the new DJI Mavic Pro, we finally have a drone that’s easy to travel with too!
The other day I was kayaking at a stunning blue lagoon in Mexico. To capture its beauty, I brought along a daypack filled with camera gear — my Sony A7Rii, GoPro Hero5, and the new DJI Mavic Pro.
All of this gear, including accessories, fit neatly inside a single camera backpack that I use as my airline carry-on!
The ability to pack a drone, along with the rest of my camera gear, into a single bag has been a dream of mine ever since I first started flying drones in my travel photography and video workflow.
But it just wasn’t possible until now.
Small & Lightweight Design
DJI Mavic Pro Drone Review
Sure, there are small drones out there. And more powerful ones too. Unfortunately you couldn’t have the best of both worlds — until the new DJI Mavic Pro came along.
The Mavic has all the features of the original DJI Phantom 4, but is half the size and weight.
Folded up, the Mavic is about the same size as a Nalgene water bottle!
To make this possible, DJI really put a lot of thought into the Mavic’s design. It has four “wings” that neatly fold up when not in use. You no longer need to remove the drone’s propellers either, they fold up too.
Even the Mavic’s remote controller is about half the size as previous models. Yet DJI’s new drone still boasts about 21 minutes of flight time, speeds up to 40mph, and a super impressive 4 mile range.
With the ability to shoot 4k video and capture RAW photos, the Mavic is just as powerful as its predecessor (DJI Phantom 4). It also has front-facing optical sensors that help you avoid obstacles and prevents the drone from crashing into things.
Powerful Portable Drone for Travel
DJI Mavic Pro Specs
Video Recording: 4K in 24/30p or 1080 in 60/30/24p Pixels: 12 Megapixels Max Resolution: 4000 x 3000 Lens: 28mm Memory Card: Micro SD ISO Sensitivity: 100 – 3200 Max Speed: 40 mph Average Flight Time: 21 minutes Max Distance: 4 miles Weight: 1.62 lbs (734 g)
Flying the DJI Mavic
Flying The Mavic
The DJI Mavic is surprisingly easy to fly. It feels a lot like a video game. If you let go of the controls, the drone simply hovers in one place.
But drones are complicated machines too — you need to be aware of your surroundings in multiple dimensions, something most of us aren’t used to.
Before you do anything, make sure to watch all of the Mavic tutorial videos here. Then, practice flying the drone simulator on the DJI GO app.
When you finally think you’re ready, I recommend practicing with the Mavic in a wide open field until you get the hang of how it handles. Then practice some more.
The Mavic has a beginner mode that forces the drone to fly a bit slower, and limits height and distance. Use this mode while you’re learning.
All My Camera Gear in One Bag
Launching & Landing
Unfolding and preparing the Mavic for flight takes less than 2 minutes. First I start the DJI GO App on my phone, connect the phone to the remote controller, turn on the remote controller, then power on the drone.
The Mavic will attempt to lock on to GPS satellites, which keeps it stable during flight.
Before you fly in a new location, remember to calibrate the compass (aka do the “drone dance”). It’s an easy process that takes less than 20 seconds
One of the drawbacks to the DJI Mavic’s compact design is that it has much less ground clearance than the Phantom 4, meaning the belly of the drone is closer to the ground.
This can be a problem if you want to launch or land in tall grass. So try to find a wide, flat base to launch it from. I actually launch it from the back of my LowePro Whistler Camera Backpack most of the time.
If you run low on battery power or lose your connection, the Mavic will automatically “return to home” using GPS.
Cameras on the bottom of the Mavic take a photo of the launch site, helping it land in the same exact spot once you’re finished. Pretty impressive technology!
Shooting From a Different Perspective
Image Quality
When the Mavic was first released, there were a bunch of videos saying the image was fuzzy. This is because the camera wasn’t in focus — users didn’t realize they needed to touch the screen and focus the camera first.
However this issue has been resolved, as the latest software update gives the Mavic an autofocus mode, which you can turn on or off depending on your preference.
Both video footage & still photos from the Mavic are crisp and clean, sharp enough for most video applications, especially on the web. You can shoot up to 4k, although in my opinion 1080 24p works best on the Mavic.
If you want to make high-end movies, drones like the new DJI Phantom 4 Pro and DJI Inspire 2 boast larger camera sensors which can pick up more detail in lower light. The caveat is these drones aren’t nearly as portable as the Mavic.
Battery Life
Battery life for the DJI Mavic is solid, averaging 21 minutes on a typical flight (that’s with 15% battery remaining). I travel with 3 batteries to maximize my flight time in each location.
It takes about 60 minutes to re-charge a battery, about 2 hours to re-charge the controller.
DJI recommends deep-discharging (cycling) your intelligent flight battery after every 20 re-charges, to maximize battery life. You can view how many cycles a battery has gone through in the DJI GO App.
DJI Mavic Settings
4K or 1080?
Actually, neither. After doing a lot of research on this subject, it appears that the best footage on the DJI Mavic Pro comes from recording in 2.7k at 30p.
It’s complicated, but basically true 4k video footage needs a bitrate of 100mps. The Mavic can only handle a 65mps bitrate, meaning the footage gets compressed, and doesn’t look as good.
The sweet-spot seems to be recording at 2.7k, which you can then downsample to 1080 for web, and it will still look better than shooting at 1080 directly from the drone.
Also, while the Mavic can technically shoot video at 60 frames per second, it doesn’t look very good in practice. So make sure to keep it at 24p or 30p for the best looking footage.
Setting Your Camera Profile
Camera Profiles
If you aren’t planning to color-grade your video footage the default color profile settings work fine. However if you use color grading techniques or LUTs with software like Color Finale, you’ll want to adjust the color profile.
These are the settings I’ve found work best for me.
Profile: CINELIKE
Sharpness: -1
Contrast: -1
Saturation: 0
If you don’t know what I’m talking about when I say color grading or LUTS, here’s more information explaining the process.
Reducing Gimbal Speed
Gimbal Tilt Speed
The default gimbal tilt/pitch speed (aiming the camera up or down) was moving too fast for me, so I slowed it down to 20 in the remote control settings. This helps you get smoother, more cinematic camera movements for your videos.
YAW Speed
The drone’s YAW is what controls its rotation left or right. I prefer to slow this down a bit, again for smoother footage. You can do this in advanced settings under “rudder control”. I changed mine from 0.25 to 0.20.
Intelligent Flight Modes
Intelligent Flight Modes
The DJI Mavic drone has 11 cool intelligent flight modes, software that helps fly the drone for you, to get different kinds of unique shots that are difficult when flying with full manual control.
To activate them, you need to go into the flight mode settings. You can then pause or stop the program when necessary and go back to manual control. Here are some of my favorites.
Active Track
Active Track visually locks onto a person or object, and tracks their movement while keeping them in frame. It automatically follows the subject, or you can even fly circles around a moving subject. It’s great for following bikers, kayakers, people walking, and even cars (as long as they aren’t driving faster than 20 mph).
Gesture
This is the Mavic’s “selfie” setting. Send the drone up into the air, put down your remote control (or hide it out of frame), wave your hands to get the Mavic’s attention, then gesture with your hands in a frame around your head, and the drone will lock on and snap a photo after 3 seconds. You need to switch from video into photo mode to make this work.
Cinematic
Cinematic Mode is available with the new DJI Go V4.0 App. Basically it slows down certain drone movements, smoothing out the flying for more cinematic looking shots. But it’s important to note that this function slows down braking speed too, so the drone no longer stops on a dime if you let go of the control sticks. It “drifts” to a stop — so you need to be careful near objects like walls & trees.
Tripod
Tripod Mode is very cool. It drastically slows down the speed of the drone, to about 3-4mph maximum. It too is wonderful for slow, smooth, cinematic shots. It holds as steady as possible, but still stops quickly unlike cinematic mode. It’s great for maneuvering in tight spaces like narrow pathways or around trees. I use it when I’m afraid of running into something.
Course Lock
Another favorite mode of mine is Course Lock, where the drone will fly in one direction no matter which way the camera is facing. So if you wanted to fly parallel with a moving car, but change the direction of the camera angle as you fly alongside, you can do that without altering the course of the drone’s path.
Point Of Interest
Say you wanted to fly around a particular building or monument. With Point Of Interest, you hover over a stationary object, lock on, then adjust the diameter and speed you want to fly at, and the drone will then circle your chosen subject keeping it in frame. Manually flying perfect circles around something is very difficult, this mode does the hard work for you, so you can focus on filming.
Terrain
Terrain Mode is great for flying low over a rough landscape, or up the side of a hill. The Mavic’s bottom sensors track the changing ground features, and keep the drone at a certain height over it. So you don’t have to worry about adjusting it’s altitude to avoid running into the side of a hill, it takes care of that for you.
Photos From the Sky
Shooting Photos
The Mavic’s 12mp camera can capture great still photos too, in DNG RAW format for those who like to post-process their images, or normal JPG. You can also shoot in manual mode for adjusting ISO, exposure compensation, and shutter speed.
There are options for bracketing images, a self-timer, and rapid fire shots.
The image sensor is the same size as the original Phantom 4, however DJI’s newer Phantom 4 Pro has a much larger sensor, about 4 times the size as the Mavic’s. This means images from the Phantom 4 Pro will come out better in low-light situations, with less sensor noise.
DJI Mavic Tips & Tricks
Press Record!
As stupid as this sounds, when I first started flying drones, I’d forget to start recording video. Maybe it was because I was so excited to fly the thing, or because I was mesmerized by the beautiful scenes it was showing me. Remember to hit record and capture that beauty!
Full Screen View
The tiny DJI Mavic controller is pretty slick, displaying flight details like speed, altitude, distance, and battery level. This allows you to switch your phone into full-screen mode (swipe up for IOS), removing the information overlay so you can concentrate on framing your shots.
Slow & Steady Movements
Racing around at 40mph in sport mode is fun as hell, but doesn’t make for great video footage. The best drone videos are smooth and steady. Small input changes can have a big effect — you don’t need to jam down on the control sticks full throttle. Plus, you can always speed things up later with editing software too.
Return To Home
It took me a while to realize the benefits of this feature. Why engage return to home when I can fly back myself? Well, the software is much more efficient than humans are. It takes the shortest path back, flying at optimal speed, saving you precious battery power. If you really want to land yourself, you can cancel it at the last minute and take control.
Catch Landing
If I’m attempting to fly from uneven ground (rocks, tall grass, sand) I’ll generally launch the Mavic from my camera backpack, and catch-land it in my hand. However I do not recommend catch-landing a drone until you have a LOT of experience flying in all kinds of situations/weather. It can be dangerous if it goes wrong.
Recovering After A Crash
Everyone crashes their drone eventually. Everyone. I’ve crashed 2 times now, once in water! If you do crash your drone, the best way to get it back is using the GPS information stored on the DJI GO App. Click on the map, zoom into where the last signal was sent from, then head over and start searching. It’s crazy how accurate it is.
Facebook Live
Did you know you can broadcast live video from your DJI Mavic to Facebook & YouTube? The video feed comes from the drone, while the audio comes from your phone. This lets you tell a story, or describe what you’re seeing, as you fly the drone live. It’s possible with a strong 3G signal, but wifi and 4G connections work best.
Controller Sun Hood
DJI Mavic Accessories
Sun Shade Hood
The DJI Mavic Sun Hood helps you see your phone’s screen in full-on sunlight, cutting out the glare. Especially if your eyes are sensitive to the sun like mine are. It makes flying in sunlight much more enjoyable, so you can actually see what you’re recording.
Car Charger
The DJI Mavic Car Charger can plug into a vehicle’s cigarette lighter and charge your battery while driving. It’s super helpful during travel photography road trips, so you always have fresh batteries for flying.
ND Filters
These Polar Pro Mavic ND Filters are a bit like sunglasses for your drone’s camera. It gives professional videographers the ability to shoot video at slower shutter speeds in bright sunlight, creating a more cinematic look.
DJI Care Refresh
Like I said earlier, everyone crashes their drone eventually. It’s best to be prepared and purchase the DJI Care Refresh insurance, so when you do crash one day, you can get back to flying as soon as possible at minimal cost. Drones are expensive machines! It would suck to lose one.
Summary
With the DJI Mavic Pro, I can now fit all my camera gear into a single airplane carry-on bag. It’s also far easier to bring my drone hiking in the mountains, snowboarding, on a boat, or on other kinds of adventures.
Not only is it much smaller and lighter than earlier drones, it’s still just as fast, stable, and easy to fly too.
The convenience of the Mavic’s super portable design means I’m more likely to take my drone with me — giving my travel photography and adventure videos a big-budget WOW factor that was previously only possible from an actual helicopter.
While traveling with a drone is probably overkill for most people, if you make your living with photography or video (or want to eventually), nothing can compete with the DJI Mavic Pro for its combination of power & portability. ★
