Haven't journaled in a minute.
The last week has been a blurr. My polyamorous lifestyle is getting a new partner. The patience needed is almost too much to bare. He's worth it. I'm sure of it. Taking a road trip with my primary life partner Tommy today. We're considering moving 217 miles away from Phoenix to a place called Sunizona where we own 1.2 acres of raw land ready to be built on. The irony of this, there is a church next door. The map says we will be there about 10:30 just in time for small town praise and worship... who knows where the Lord might take us today. Cat5 has been entertaining the hell out of us lately. Justin Ropers never let me down and I got to splash in a rain puddle, like a 5 year old. Leaving the city now and it feels amazing with every mile between me & that chaos mess they call a city. #pray4phoenix #forwardmotion #unicornUP #photojournal #freedomofspeech #poly #polyamorous #roadtrip #jeep #jeepchurch

Hitting the Road
Picked up a copy of this week’s Tucson Weekly and stumbled across a piece on a garlic festival in Dragoon. The 13th annual version of it, surprisingly, as we had never heard of it before. Perhaps because Dragoon is such a small community nearly an hour away.
By the time we arrived about 10:30 a.m., there were already scores of folks present. The site, the Triangle T Guest Ranch, is not actually in Dragoon, but just a quarter-mile off Interstate 10 just west of Texas Canyon.
Established in 1922, the ranch boasts a colorful and exciting past. During World War II, a number of high-ranking Japanese officials were detained there. The area has also served as the location for many motion pictures and television productions including the TV series “Young Guns” and movies including “Tombstone” and the original “3:10 to Yuma,” which starred Glenn Ford and Van Heflin.
Despite the name and the write-up in the Weekly, garlic was not present at every turn. The more than 30 vendors offered the same kind of arts and crafts that can be found just about anywhere. The one big garlic booth attracted a long line that we declined to stand in, and after wandering around the ranch a short while, we left.
We continued east on Dragoon Road until we reached U.S. 191 and turned south toward Douglas, passing Sunsites, Sunizona, Elfrida and McNeal. We also took a quick look at Pearce, a mining ghost town that wasn’t attracting any other tourists today.
Just west of Douglas, U.S. 191 intersected with Arizona 80, and we turned west, following it through Bisbee and Tombstone. We’ve enjoyed visits to both those places in the past, but we were intent on getting to Sonoita and eating at the Steak-Out. Just beyond Tombstone, we turned on to Arizona 82, which took us to Sonoita.
The Steak-Out did not open until 3 p.m., and we had about forty minutes to wait, so we wandered down toward Elgin, where we stopped at a winery for Nancy to do some tasting. Afterwards, we returned to the Steak-Out and each enjoyed a very tasty filet mignon.
The drive up Arizona 83 toward Tucson was punctuated with rain. There were storm clouds all around, and we stopped briefly at the entrance to Empire Ranch to take a few photos of the spectacular cloud formations.
The entire circuit covered about 280 miles, which, given the cost of gas these days cost us in the neighborhood of $40. On top of the wine and food, it made for an expensive day, but it sure beat the heck out of staying cooped up inside the house all day long.

Cold Case in SE Arizona
By BR Chitwood
It was a bold move back in the mid-eighties, but our decision was made to buy an eighty-four-acre spread of desert land in SE Arizona, some thirty-plus miles north of the Mexican border town of Agua Prieta. The land was in what was called Sunizona, Arizona. The property was near the junction of Routes 666 (known as the Devil’s Highway), referred to…

Sautéed mushrooms, onion, crumbled #fieldroast Italian Sausage, #miyokos herb cheese, garlic and herb tomato sauce, local greens from #Sunizona family Farms, and just a LITTLE #followyourheart Blue Cheese dressing because I can! All on 3 ingredient, #ORGANIC cibatta bread from @naturalgrocers.
