Moving Ep 16-17

I was very pessimistic last week about the direction that the drama was going to take, but I was pleasantly surprised this week.

Ep 16 was just filler and a lot of what was shown there could have been wrapped up in earlier episodes or in a very different. Seeing nearly 50 year old Cha Tae Hyun play a high schooler was very funny to me But overall I'm glad they've used the same actors across timelines, it promotes consistency in the characters and avoids confusion. But idk what he's doing with the bus for 2 episodes without ANY progress (I'm SO glad his boss is still nice to him though!). He hasn't even found Bongseok's power bank yet! I also feel like Choi Ilhwan's story could have been better used to show how he tried (and maybe failed) to protect Gyedo and Naju's daughter. The latter randomly dying of cancer just made no sense to me. I did really his transition from a fake teacher to a real teacher.

But Ep 17. What a banger! I'm not really into Moving for the action scenes, but this episode was really good! I'm just surprised that at this crucial juncture they are reducing the length of episodes. The initial episodes were nearly 60 mins long, and this one was barely over 30 mins.

Mihyun! What a badass. I was shocked when she shot the cleaner. A good reminder why she was the youngest agent ever and graduated with top marks in her class. The oil can silencer! Oof! Can't wait to see her in action!

It was kinda painful to see Bongseok and Heesoo being essentially played with by the NK Flying Guy, but I'm glad they went that way, and did not suddenly make these kids good at fighting. One thing I'm happy with overall is how they show that there is innocence in these children and it must be protected. And the onus of protecting is on the adults, not on these poor kids.

Juwon getting beaten to a pulp (Frank flashback *gulp*) was horrific to watch, but I have faith in him and his regenerative abilities.

Honestly, I was not sad to see Sungwook (the substitute teacher) being gotten out of the way like the rat he was.

But my TOP moment was Choi Ilhwan protecting Bang Kisoo. I think for the first time in his life an adult has taken responsibility for Kisoo (grrr at that rat Sungwook) and it was heartwarming to watch. I'm here for the Bang Kisoo redemption arc (not that he needs to be redeemed exactly, but you know what I mean)!

(also, Jo in Sung better be sitting in the trunk of that car, and not, you know, in North Korea).

I'm far more optimistic this week than I was last week about the ending of the show. One more week to go, so many stories to wrap up!!!

FUTURE DREAMS SEASON 7: ALUMNI (FINALE)

on JANUARY 13, the culmination of countless hours of work finally came through the season's FINALE filming. though the final episode will only air on FEBRUARY 15, 500 lucky audience members watched the 5 finalists performance and voted for their favorite stage. additionally, HIGHER UPS of the company and members of BLAZing (KANG WOOHEE, KIM YOUNGIM, SONG HANUI) and HARU (JI SUNGWOOK, YANG JOSHUA, YP, KANG JAEHYUK) were present as judges.

following the last performance of the night and the voting period, the audience members were lead out of the venue while the CONTESTANTS were given a break. during that moment, the judges convened together, discussing the fate of the five and casting their own votes.

finally, after close to an hour of waiting, the CONTESTANTS were lead back to the stage where CEO PARK JEONGAN was already standing and waiting for them.

"this season has likely been a challenge unlike others for you and the contestants eliminated. we, as audience, have had the pleasure to discover new sides of you and see how far you've all come since your debut. we've seen the road that has lead you here tonight, the moments that have defined you and caught a glimpse of the great future ahead for the 5 of your standing here. i'm sure your seniors will agree with me when i say that the future of legacy is bright." he gives the contestants a warm smile, breaking from his usual serious image. showing pride at how far these artists have come since he first met them. "all the judge agree that any of you could be our new soloist, and i expect to see you all in our soloist roster one day. but today, we - and the audience - had to make a choice. a tough one. yet, no matter the outcome, know that none of you are lacking and for those who do not win, this door isn't permanently closed. in fact, while the winner will become our new SOLOIST, the second place will get a SOLO FANMEETING and the third place a NEW SONG (ooc: no promotions)" after a final look at the contestants, he finally opens a letter he's been holding and reads the results.

DATED JAN. 25TH

Dear journal. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

It’s already been a bit since all the trainees were given these tasks to do and I’m still not sure how to take all of this in. I think looking back on it, this will be good for everyone in the long run, so I guess it’s not necessarily a bad thing. It feels very much like being in the military again... All that was missing was the drill sergeant yelling at us and the itchy soap.

I’m sure the seniors in DBSD know about this well. I think I served the same time as me for a few months. They were coming in the same year I was going to be discharged. Isn’t that kinda weird? I didn’t see James, Minwoo, or Hankyung so I guess they were in another unit from me. Can you imagine that... being a rank above my own sunbaenim and hyungnim? No way could I have ordered them around in good conscience. 

Anyway, I half expected that we would start doing laps around the building. In the winter when I served, a guy in my unit kept his phone after the time we’re supposed to give them back and we had to do burpees in the snow. ( Ah, do I talk too much about those years? Maybe I really am becoming an old man. ) I suppose this is way better! I’m actually looking forward to working in the kitchen and helping give back to people in need. We should do that more often, honestly.

I’ve given years of my life to training and honing my skills so I can debut and fulfill my dream of being a recognized singer, acknowledged for my skills. This will be a good team building exercise and I hope that we can bond through this but I’m still sorely disappointed that it had to be this way. 

I would like to strive to be a good example and good role model for the younger trainees. I am the oldest guy here and it’s about time I step it up and prove myself to be reliable. I need to be someone to look up to and that they can come to if they’re facing any problems or needing any advice. I want to become a good leader for them so this sort of thing does not have to happen. Also, I want to be a singer who is reliable, treats staff well, and is someone others can expect to do well. It is expected of us that we have to present a better self the next time.

I have been meaning to learn more about the senior artists in the company. My good friends in V&A have helped my pay attention so far but I want to learn more. Most of all, I will strive to be as skilled and respected as a vocalist in a group as Lee Shinhae and Ji Sungwook are... As for the songs, I’m learning them slowly but surely. It’s a lot to take in. Pop music isn’t exactly where most of my knowledge is but if, in the future, I have to cover or make reference to my seniors, I should do well to remember them. Ah... but I already knew BLAZing’s songs, so there’s that. Are you surprised about that fact? I am.

[TRAD] Entrevista Herald, director de ‘Mic Drop’ espera que BTS rompa las cadenas sociales

Siguiendo de los vídeos musicales de “Dope,” “Save Me,” “Young Forever” y “Not Today,” el director Kim Sung-wook añadió “Mic Drop” a la lista de vídeos musicales para el acto de K-pop global, BTS.

En lo que podría ser el vídeo musical del año, el vídeo lleno de swag de BTS, “Mic Drop” remix, uan colaboración entre el DJ americano Steve Aoki, el rapero Desiigner y las siete piezas superestrellas mundiales, ha estado a la altura desde su lanzamiento la semana pasada.

Y Kim, el creador detrás de la reciente fiebre de BTS, compartió profundos detalles sobre su última pieza maestra para aquellos quienes no pueden tener suficiente del torbellino de “Mic Drop”.

“Escuchando la canción, la primera cosa que se me vino a la mente fue que quería encerrar a BTS en un cuarto de interrogación. Luego quería mostrar a los espectadores como ellos lograban escapar del cuarto y liberarse con música,” dijo Kim durante una reciente entrevista con The Korea Herald en Seúl.

El estupendo e intenso vídeo musical abre/empieza con Aoki girando discos, mientras que la banda, sentados sin ninguna expresión en el cuarto, ferozmente empiezan a bailar la canción.

El director explicó su intención de mantener al grupo en un espacio cerrado – un símbolo de vigilancia y opresión – era en realidad relacionado a su esperanza de que BTS rompiera las cadenas sociales.

“Como estrellas de K-pop globales, BTS ha estado en el centro de atención de las redes que consecuentemente lo evalúan. Como otras estrellas idol, están ocupados con horarios y prácticas. A veces ellos podrán tener diferentes opiniones sobre lo que las redes hablan de ellos. Quiero que BTS vuelen alto como artistas libres,” dijo Kim.

Hay “haters” en el vídeo que aparecen en capas negras. Pero con el poder de la música de BTS, ellos se vuelven seguidores del grupo. De un snowboarder a una mente maestra en vídeos de K-pop

Antes de recibir el título de director de vídeos musicales de BTS, Kim era ya un conocido director por dar su toque dorado a vídeos musicales abarcando diferentes géneros, como “Happiness” de Red Velvet y “Danger” de Taemin, con su sobresaliente creatividad y sensibilidad.

Sorpresivamente, Kim fue originalmente un talentoso skater y snowboarder. Fuera de su interés en la producción de vídeos, Kim fundó GDW, un estudio 3-D de grabación en Seúl especializado en crear comerciales, vídeos musicales y documentales en 2007, y trabajó en vídeos para deportes y moda. Y no fue hasta que Bang Shi-hyuk, CEO de la compañía de BTS, Big Hit Entertainmente, llamó a Kim para sugerirle una colaboración dos años atrás, de que conociera a BTS.

“Bang me dijo que estaba profundamente impresionado con el vídeo que produje, ‘Ice Cream Cake’ de Red Velvet. Después de trabajar en los mixtapes de Rap Monster, produje ‘Dope,’ mi primer proyecto con BTS junto a todo el grupo.”

Según Kim, el régimen de grabación de K-pop es muy diferente de lo que va al grabar vídeos de deporte. Como un boarder desde hace mucho, lo que Kim toma más en consideración cuando graba, son el ritmo, rapidez y balance – cosas básicas que se mantienen en su mente cuando hace board. Esos elementos, dice, crea los vídeos musicales más dinámicos con abundante energía, arte y sofisticación.

“Las cosas que siempre evito cuando grabo son los estilos estáticos. Mientras muchos otros vídeos musicales de K-pop tienden a hacer aún tomas de los rostros de los artistas para resaltar su belleza, yo siempre hago que los artistas se muevan alrededor para enfocar su energía de atraer sus lados más naturales,” dice Kim.

Viviendo la vida de un creador, sin embargo, fue más duro de lo que parecía. Kim no planea trabajar en proyectos hasta Enero del próximo año para soltar su creatividad al máximo en el futuro.

“Pienso que los vídeos musicales de K-pop estos días se están volviendo muy provocativos y picantes. Son sencillamente consumidos y faltan en significado. Y mi trabajo es crear vídeos significativos e inspiradores a través del cual las personas puedan experimentar algo nuevo en sus vidas.”

“Cuando mi cerebro está cansado, termino creando algo de poco interés. Es por eso que tengo reglas de no trabajar alrededor del reloj. Necesito tiempo para vaciarme,” dijo.

yushin has a knee-jerk reaction at jiho's introduction, wondering if it was what was known to the public yet. if anything, a spoiler of what was to come. he swallows the potential laugh and tries to maintain a straight face, probably looking way too excited to be here right now. it was always a good time with this trio, and he's thrilled that they get to continue their reactions as this group. "hi everyone, i'm v&a agito's main rapper, yushin!"

"wow, haru look so good. they have this mature energy that only comes with experience. so comfortable." as yushin's eyes are on every new scene and line that come from the music video, he hopes that v&a can be here one day in the far future, not plagued by an early disband and still here to survive through it all. "the grassy scene is so pretty!"

he genuinely feels honoured that they were chosen to react to one of their senior's songs. he's not sure if they can give any reactions aside from earnest awe, but he's very happy to be doing this with yushin and yeonwoo again. he would probably consider the two of them the two he's closest to in v&a (outside of haru), so he's always happy to film anything with them.

"should we introduce ourselves and then start right away?" jiho suggests, taking the lead as he usually does with these videos. he had done it originally because he had been the one with the most experience with writing and producing, but now he's doing it because he's v&a's overall leader. it's still weird to wrap his mind around, but he's slowly getting used to the idea of it.

"hello we're v&a," he says once he's started the recording, knowing that yushin and yeonwoo would automatically greet with him, feeling like it's been intrinsically engrained into their psyches to respond whenever he starts the greeting. "i'm v&a's leader jiho," he introduces himself, letting the other do so as well before he grins, quickly explaining what they're doing today. then, indicating that one of them can press the play button, he leans back in his chair and settles in to give a genuine reaction.
