There was an idea that ought to be had, at times, of secrecy as a matter of protection.

What you don’t know can’t hurt you- it isn’t the most intuitive philosophy. Those who lived and died in Pompeii were hurt, after all. Despite, and because, they did not know what humanity might now tell you about volcanoes such at Mount Vesuvius. Still, it remained- secrecy pretending to be some key to a peaceful life.

At first, that remnant still hung in the air of Rhizome-9. A thought that went both ways, somehow. That Diana would be protecting this man she was getting to know better by keeping her past to herself. That Sigma was protecting this woman he’d loved a thousand times before by keeping parts of the truth- of the other timelines- to himself. 

But between people who had met a hundred times and still, had never met? That protection wasn’t something so important as to overcome the need to know and be known. So it was that Diana, eventually, on Rhizome Nine- Told Sigma these things which he couldn’t possibly know, and that he had always known. And once that condition had been met- The conversation which he would, in another time, use to prove how much he knew her? The gate was lifted on their genuine comprehension of each other.

And on their memories. 

Following their escape from DCOM, things had become fuzzy. Leaving behind that morphogenetic field turned only their current timeline clear- But upon having that eternal conversation, it seemed, all those other worlds were made known to them once more. Chief among those worlds, the one where they had really. Absolutely. Fallen in the love.

Living together and dying together. And in that memory, that recollection which was so awful and so wonderful all at once… The only reply to such a thing was to mourn. To mourn together, in each other’s arms. For their own lost lives in that time. For the children they were without. For the fact that…

Even as they sat together at peace with the  way things had turned out? This was, to some other version of themselves… Another time to mourn. Another timeline lost. Another in a long, long line… Of times they loved and lost each other, one way or another.

here. Random OC lore for you

this is Anaheim. she is the primary AI for fireteam riptide (the team the guy in my pfp is apart of) and just helps them with like mission overviews and general shit. she’s usually stuck on a ship somewhere on comms but sometimes she hitches a ride with one of her spartans. there are 5 of them — raum (pfp), zakariah, ingwe, noah, and håkon. zakariah and ingwe belong to my awesome friend @sunduvhar who I’m matching with :3 anyway she likes Håkon a lot because he’s the newest member (and the youngest, by like a mile) and is suuuper easy to embarrass infront of everyone else.

she is also kind of really insecure about the help she is able to provide. she wishes she had an actual physical body to herself so that she could be more direct and present, so she tries reeaaaalllly hard to be a big clown and laugh it up infront of everybody because she always a little bit scared that they think she’s not doing enough (she is and they’re all fine). do not get me wrong though she is a huge fucking dork and she loves everyone on riptide very dearly

she tries very very hard not to think about anything that’s not directly related outside of riptide. Obviously she has to keep up communications with the rest of the UNSC and tell everyone that riptide is, in fact, doing their job, but still. they are all kind of her one and only world

I don't project onto Dashi as much as other characters but I DO project my autism onto him, which is a high honor. Also qualifies for A Beast Unleashed bc although we only get to see him whip ass maybe…once(?), he's still the baddest bitch on the Xiaolin side. I love this ancient little troll AND his silly magic inventions AND his precisely detailed rulebook.

anyway, galo with scars, top surgery and otherwise. kr*y's line "you kept coming back" implies he's been hurt more than once on the job, the arm thing was only one instance (and he keeps the determination and commitment up too despite it, we love this big hearted fool)

I have so much to say about Galo and his job choice and Galo’s relationship to their career before and after the movies events..... It might be a long winded rambley post later on.. maybe.. if anyone cares..

BUT YEAH. GALO WITH SCARS!! Obviously top surgery scars but hey, not all trans dudes have scars due to how the surgery was done~

Galo being new to the job might explain their lack of scars. (tho I wish the other Burning Rescue members had some scars too....) But that line “You kept coming back” def meant more then just Galo’s job aspect of not dying on the job like Kray hoped for. It can imply that Galo has been seriously hurt in training for Burning Rescue or even on the job as a newbie! We only get a glimpse of it all! I do enjoy older Galo fanart where there are scars covering them in some way.

Galo with scars please. Galo having no feeling/lack of control in their burnt arm.

Un related but related thought in my jumpy brain... I always wondered if Kray also wanted Galo to just.. become a burnish. Abusing Galo mentally, the wear and tear on Galo’s emotions and clear issues on needing a ‘hero’ or someone to rely on cause Galo doesn’t rely on themselves. Kray giving Galo the Burning Rescue job in hopes of Galo perishing on duty or.. or maybe becoming overly stressed with all the life or death possibilities. I personally feel like the first time Galo fails to save someone, they’d break down hard into a bad depression. (Which is a thing no one talks about but a harsh reality to a first responder career) 

Kray may hope that something might snap in Galo causing them to become a burnish and then Kray would use that to have more control over Galo’s life or just.. a reason to dispose of them and it not be a negative effect on Kray’s public reputation. The poor kid Kray saved from a burnish fire is revealed to be a burnish themselves? Maybe Kray would blame Galo for their own parents death and arrest them or throw them in for ‘rehabilitation’ and ultimately kill him.  (Twisted AU comes to mind of Galo becoming burnish in the movies events and becoming the engine for the Parnassus in replace of Lio.. and Lio must save Galo??)

Edit: I def derailed with that last thought but my brains connection was. Galo’s arm got burnt horribly on their first mission. Kray found out about it. Took Galo in for ‘aid’ and secretly tested to see if Galo became a burnish from the stress of the injury. Galo didn’t of course. Kray upsettie spaghetti.
