would briar do the dog thing where he just rolls around while snorting and sneezing (preferably on a bedroll of his Choosing) just bc why not. also would he do puppy dog eyes just to fuck around and get Special Treatment even when the gang knows its briar taking extra steps just to get Attention <33

YES 100% yes. i like to think animalistic instinct kinda takes over from time to time when in their dw forms so briar absolutely does do very dog things. rolls around snorting and sneezing, runs in circles around camp when he's got the zoomies, paws at the others when he wants pets. he's 100% just a fucking dog man. human intelligence be damned this wolf can be so fuckin stupid

if he ever swims when in his wolf form he makes sure to stand right next to one of the others when he shakes off the water. he Will sneeze in ur face and lose every single mannerism he has ever gained. he Will roll around in fig's bedroll and fig will be like "there is dog hair . in my bedroll" while looking directly at hylian briar and briar will give him the slyest grin

they do indeed know it's him! for the first couple of weeks they are unaware, but for the others it's eventually ?? pretty fuckin obvious that the random magical wolf that follows them around Only when briar is mysteriously MIA And has the same symbol on its face as briar does is actually briar himself . yeah they figure it out. doesn't take a genius

he's, at first, hesitant to tell them simply bc he's afraid of their reactions, but he eventually realizes that the people in his era that were afraid of him were common townsfolk just trying to protect their families. the group he's with now is Not that and they've seen shit that other people will never, ever even hear of. plus, the "dangerous, ravenous wolf" that's been following them around is very gentle and peaceful—not at all a threat to them. why would they Suddenly think briar and his wolf form are terrible, horrible beasts just bc they're now connected?

and he's ? grown since his adventure. he now knows that if he reveals that he's some "horrible" beast to some friends and they throw him away for it, then they were never friends to begin with, and their big journey to save the world probably wouldn't have gone over well cuz they would've been at each other's throats by the end

he's more brave now. more ready to face things with logic instead of emotion, and when he works through his past trauma to tell the others he's That Wolf, they are completely fine w it and it releases So many pent up fears in his chest that he feels like he's suddenly floating . what a huge payoff for finally facing ur fears

Do the suncaster lads have scars they got in embarrassing ways? Like, if one of them was fighting monsters and wasnt paying close enough attention to their surroundings and smacked really hard into a tree, or if one of them was shaving with a knife and it slipped and they got a small cut on their chin that became a scar, or if anyone with fangs in their dark world form accidentally bit their lip too hard and caused a scar...stuff like that. Do the lads have any scars that were caused in silly ways?

definitely yeah! wars has a lot of smaller burns that were caused by him just fucking up with the fire rod VGIYEGA not so funny in the moment but now he giggles abt it

legend has plenty of scars he got from tripping and falling, but there's one particular one that he hates and it's a tiny one riiiight along his hairline. when he was little and his uncle took him to the marketplace, he kept jumping up and down to see the top of the counters and what they were selling and he eventually smacked his head on the wood. silly stupid little kid error

lumen has tiiiny little cuts along her ears that u can barely see, and those r from loftwings nipping at him VGEYIAVG he's very gentle with them loftwings r just sassy sometimes

briar had quite a few scars even before his journey—the silliest one is prolly a small one along his side from where he got bucked off a horse and landed on a fence post. it was painful but he was fine. he thought it was hilarious. was already laughing by the time he got up

fig's silliest scar is actually one malon gave him accidentally (and also not directly). gave him a real fright when they were kids and she sicced a couple cuccos on him. she didn't realize how determined they'd be and he got a cut on his finger from it. she cried and hugged him afterward. now they both laugh abt it fondly :)

AAA CRIES . hmmmmmm i don't know what exactly to talk abt so im prolly just gonna word-vomit all over this post im so sorry

i rly like exploring their characterizations and they're the easiest for me to explain so let's start w that i guess. one of my fav things to think about is fig and it not quite being the hero that follows fantasy/fairytale standards

to sum it up, what i mean by that is, if he were put in a position to either a) save its boys, or b) save literally everybody else on the planet, he'd choose his boys. it's not going to sacrifice what it loves the most (and people that do not deserve that fate) for "the greater good." it knows that is selfish, and it knows that a lot of people would probably scowl at him if they were told his opinion on it, and sometimes even he is a little disgusted with his stance, but it stands firm in it

it knows it deserves better. he has already sacrificed enough—more than most people ever sacrifice in a lifetime. if the gods asked it to do it again, it would refuse. not his family. ganon can swallow the entire world up in its gullet if it wants to—as long as it means it does Not touch his boys

the meaning of "hero" gets a little bent after a hero is willing to do something like that, but that term no longer means very much to fig

hmmmmmm what else,,, i guess i could talk abt their dark world forms and how they work ? im thinking that briar is the only one of them that can willingly change between forms with an item—he has his shadow crystal, and the others have to use that to shift to their dw form. to switch out, they have to touch the master sword (or use a moon pearl)

usually that's not an issue for them bc their animal forms have bags n shit to carry that stuff, but for the smaller ones like wars and legend, it becomes a bit of an issue ? a little ferret cannot carry a sword. usually though, he simply sticks to the larger of the crew, who carry his sword for him

they each have abilities in their dw forms! wars' ability is to see through stuff (kinda based off the fact that ferrets like to burrow underground). lumen's (which i might add to) is the ability to freely mimic Any sound he has ever heard perfectly, regardless of whether or not her body would be able to produce that sound normally. briar's, which i think is prolly the coolest, is to sink in with the shadows and disappear. think how u can disappear into the ink in splatoon! he excels in combat in darker places

haven't thought of good powers for legend or fig yet. i have some ideas for fig, but we'll see :]

i have to admit i don't have much in mind for a grand, overarching plot, but i suspect that'll come to me eventually. it's more focused on the characters and their relationships rather than the Big Bad Evil they're after

we've got wars n ledge ofc, and in this au they are canonically qpps and they love each other very much :) their relationship will be a huge centerpiece of the au and probably what i'll focus on most

i'd love to explore wars' story more in this as well—mainly the whole "exiled from his era" thing and all the scarf symbolism

tp link's new name is briar! i've already posted a redesign for him, but like i've mentioned i wanna make another ref sheet of all of them, so he's hopefully getting another one

i haven't decided on sksw link's name yet, but i'm leaning toward lyre ? not sure but i am open to suggestions for him (also i wanna change his hair color in his ref sheet <3)

currently debating on whether or not i want oot link's name to be time or not,,, i don't know Anything about his games, but i like the idea of him being an adult and the father-figure, so i wanted to keep him in the group cuz i love him. still deciding on a design for him

i want them all to have unique specialties instead of them all just using swords. briar pretty much exclusively uses bows/crossbows. wars is a sword guy. i'm leaning toward legend having a knife and/or magic specialty. not sure what sksw link's would be Other than a sword,,, much to think about
