Uzun yıllardır yaşayan bir vampir Sun Woo-Hyeol(TaecYeon), soylu bir kadın olan Yoon Hae-Sun(Yoon So-Hee) onun için hayatını feda edince insan olmayı kafasına koyar. Kedi olan arkadaşı Ko Yang-Nam(Kim In-Kwon)dan aldığı bilgiye göre ardıç ağacından yapılmış bir tabutta 100 yıl geçirirse insan olabilecektir. Yıllardır yanında olan yardımcıları Lee Sang-Hae(Yoon Byung-Hee) ve Park Dong-Seob(Ko Kyu-Pil) bu durumu anlamasalar da patronlarının istedi��ine saygı duyar ve onun için özel bir tabut yaptırırlar. Malikanesini ise kahya olarak yanında çalışan insanın üzerine yaparak ona emanet eder. Nesilden nesile malikaneyi koruyacak 100 yıl sonra uyandığında ise ona teslim ederek kahyalık görevini tamamlayacaktır. Vallahi anlatırken cringe oluyorum. Neyse...

Gel gelelim 100yıl dolmak üzere iken, kahyanın soyu ortadan kaybolmuştur. Zor zamanlar geçiren Joo In-Hae(Won Ji-An) ise babasına çok uzun süredir ulaşılamadığı için ölü kabul edilerek ondan miras olarak bir malikane kaldığını öğrenir. Kalacak yeri olmadığı için malikaneye gelir. Bodruma iner. Bir tabut bulur. Ben bunu neden açmıyorum ki der ve açar. 100 yıl dolmasına 1 gün kala vampirimizi uyandığı için, insan olamayan Woo-Hyeol sinirlenip In-Hae'yi ısırmaya yeltenir. Ama In-Hae ondan önce davranıp vampiri ısırıverir. Biz seyirciler kadar mala bağlayan vampir ise ısırılınca bir anda süt dökmüş kedi gibi davranmaya başlar... Vallahi yazarken daraldım.

İşte dizinin konusu bu. İnsan olup sevdiği kadını bulmayı uman, kalbini attıracak bir aşk yaşamak için ölümsüzlüğünden vazgeçmeye hazır yarı vampir ile ona hizmet etmeye yemin etmiş kahyasının soyundan gelen bir insanın günümüz ile imtihanı. Evet, en net şekilde dizinin konusunu böyle açıklayabilirim.

Şimdi; bu adam zamanının patronu, korkulan, saygı duyulan bir yönetici, birçoğunun lideri ve en önemlisi VAMPİR. Ablacım sen neyine güvenip vampiri ısırıyor, azarlıyor, kovalıyorsun. Abicim sende hayırdır, vampirsin sen vursana yumruğunu. Yok... o kadar saçma yazılmış bir senaryo var ki ortada, vampir fikrine kimse şaşırmıyor. Kaldı ki aynı zamanda herkes vampiri itip kakabileceğini düşünüyor.

Komşunuz geldi size dedi ki, şu karşı apartmanın çatı katındaki adam vampirmiş. Allah aşkına ne tepki verirsiniz? En olası tepki komşunuzun kafayı yediğini düşünürsünüz, bi yürü git, dersiniz. Hadi azcık safsınız, inandınız. Uzak duralımda bizi kıtlamasın dersiniz. Yok bu dizide kime bu adam vampir denildiyse, dur ben bir gidip hesabını sorayım dedi. Böyle aptal bir etki tepki mekanizması uzun zamandır görmemiştim.

Hakkını yemeyeyim, oyuncular ve oyunculuklar oldukça başarılıydı. TaecYeon benim için her zaman kötü adam olarak kalacak olsa da bu dizide gayet başarılıydı. Kadın oyuncular, Won Ji-An ve Yoon So-Hee ikisi de profesyonel görünüyordu. Won Ji-An'u daha önce izlemedim. Önümüzdeki günlerde Suquid Game 2 de izleyeceğiz. Açıkçası oyuncunun havasını baya beğendim. Hem doğal ve rahat görünüyor hem de ekrana yakışıyordu. Won Ji-An’ı izlerken başarılı oyuncu Kong Hyo-Jin'in havasını sezdim, tabi ki öyle olması için daha çok yolu var. Göze çarpan bir güzelliği olmasa da sahneye yakışıyor ve aurası güçlüydü. Yoon So-Hee ise sanki iyi rolde de olsa kötü rolde de olsa hep altında bir şey arama hissiyatı yarattı bende. Bu kadında bir şey var dedim içimden. İlk "One More Time" isimli kötü dizide izlemiştim. Cast için isimlerini bile yazma gereği duymadıkları bir diziydi. Dizinin silikliği kadar Yoon So-Hee ‘un oyunculuğu da çok silikti. Sonra "Ghost Doctor"da hayalet rolünde bir kez daha izledim ama açıkçası o da çok aklımda kalmadı. Fark etmedim bile diyebilirim.

Dizide herkes birbirini öldürme peşindeydi ama öyle normal öldürme değil. Kalbini söküp kanını son damlasına kadar içmeli öldürme. Joo In-Hae’nin üniversiteden bir üst dönemi olan Shin Do-Sik (Park Kang-Hyun), kızın gözüne girmek için malikaneyi misafirhaneye çevirmeyi teklif eder. Hem iş ortağı olarak kızımızla da yakınlaşacağını düşünür. İyi adam olduğunu düşündüğümüz bu gencin ataları teee en başta vampirimizin yavuklusunu öldüren sülaleden gelmesin mi… biz bunu daha adamı görür görmez tahmin ettik. Ama dizide sonlara kadar dillendirmediler. Zaten dizide ima diye bir şey yoktu. Bir şeyi anlatmak istediklerinde seyircinin salak olduğunu düşünüyor olacaklar ki iki kere açıklama yaptılar. Neyse, herkes birbirini öldürme peşindeydi demiştim ya, işte. Bu soyu vampir avcılarına dayanan emlakçı gencin sülalesindeki erkeklerin genç yaşta ölme hastalığı varmış. Artık nasıl bir hastalık demeyin, öyle. Bu hastalığı yenmesi içinde kolunda yara olan yarı vampirin kalbini söküp kanını içmesi gerekiyormuş. Tövbe… öyle iki damla kan içeyim yok dizide. Herkesin bir diğerinin kalbini söküp kanını emcüklemesi gerekiyor. Neden? Yok nedeni. İki damla kimseye yetmiyor.

Vampirlerin hiçbir ağırlığının olmaması beni çok rahatsız etti. Yürüyünce etraftakilerin diken diken olduğu o muhteşem güçlü aura asla yoktu. Bence çok çok büyük bir eksikti. Heyt be dedirten o yüzyılların ağırlığını hiç hissetmedik. Onu hissetmedikçe de diziyi ciddiye almak çok zordu. Dizinin tek güzel yanı oyunculardı sanırım. Vampirleri oynayan oyuncular başarılı oyunculardan seçilmişti. Başrol kızımız başlarda çok fazla bağırarak rol yapsa da sonradan oturmaya başladı, sevdim. TaecYeon’u zaten çirkin bulsam da beğeniyorum. Emlakçıda aynı şekilde ilk dizisi olmasına rağmen oldukça başarılıydı. Hatta dizide sevdiğim bir başka şey OST’sini kendisi seslendirmiş olmasıydı.

Sonuç olarak önerir miyim? Emin değilim, ne yapmışlar diye bir bakıp çıkabilirsiniz.

How does a drama go from being as charming as Heartbeat was in these early episodes, to the insipid mess that it ended up to be in the last episode? It's not only that the sad ending feels discordant with the rest of the show. Nothing added up, ultimately, and every plot twist was solved in ways that felt stupid and/ or contrived.

(SPOILERS AHEAD)

One of the things I'd liked about In-hae being the woman Woo-Hyeol fell in love was that it put forward the idea that love doesn't have to be bound to a past, but rather that you can have new experiences. But in the end, In-hae ends up being Hae-sun, and we're back to the tired old trope without being given any explanation of why he didn't realise she was Hae-sun when he tasted her blood the first time. And why does Woo-hyeol think finding In-hae's father will make up for her losing her boyfriend?

Similarly, no explanations of Do-sik's 'illness' or the animosity with Man-hwi. If Do-sik's family has been because they kill half-vampires then Woo-hyeol's state shouldn't be such a jaw-dropping novelty to other vampires. Why did Man-hwi disappear when stabbed by Do-sik's blade while Woo-hyeol's body survives intact? Meanwhile, Hae-won turns into a bitch for no reason and stops being a bitch with equally little explanation. Also on the no-explanation list is the way the neighbourhood is all pot luck meals and friendship despite the much-desired redevelopment falling through.

It's as though somewhere around episode 14, writers Jung Seung-hoo and Kim Ha-na decided it's too much work to write a romantic comedy and so took sharp turn towards a sad ending.

The entire cast of Heartbeat deserved better writing. Hmph.
