sevgili sumru ,

I wish them good luck and so as not to prolong it, I will begin the wedding ceremony. Do you, Cihan Şansalan, take Sevilay Günser as your wife? Mr. Cihan? Yes. I'm very sorry, I made a mistake, I was distracted. Please forgive me. Mrs. Sevilay, I should ask you first, please forgive me. I apologize again and continue with the wedding ceremony. Do you, Lady Sevilay Günser, daughter of Hasan and Hikmet, take Cihan Şansalan as your husband? No... NO!

Georges Dumézil – Sosyoloji Ders Notları (2023)
Gündüz Vassaf’ın hazırladığı, klinik psikolog Belkıs Halim Vassaf’ın, İstanbul Üniversitesinde ders veren Georges Dumézil’in öğrencisiyken tuttuğu notları ve Dumézil’in çalışmalarını ele alan iki makaleden oluşan Dumézil’in ‘Sosyoloji Ders Notları’, hem Dumézil’in hayatı ve kişiliğine hem de Türkiye’nin bir döneminin entelektüel hayatına ışık tutuyor. Söz konusu makalelerden ilkini kaleme alan…

Well, if you're looking for a telenovela-ish tr drama, this might be the right choice for you.
Siyah Kalp (Literally means Black Heart) is about lies, scheming but also a family and romance drama.
Tumblr media
The story revolves around two siblings, these twins: Melek and Nuh. When they were born, their mother, Sumru, left them at the door of their grandmother. She has never come back and never asked about them. The twins were raised by their parental grandmother and when the grandma dies she tells them who their mom is and they should find her and ask why she left them.
The twins get shocked by the fact that their mom got married to a wealthy businesman and has two more children. They feel wronged, get sad and angry and decide to go and find their so-called mother.
Tumblr media
This is the mom. Why the hell she left her own kids and never wondered about them is still a mystery but it doesn't give you the feeling that she truly regretted that decision. When she got married, she didn't mention to her husband that she has already two children. Nobody, except Sumru, Melek and Nuh, knows that she is their mother.
The twins come to Cappadocia and confront their mother. She doesn't want them to tell anybody the truth even tries to silence them by offering money. The twins are enraged even more and decide to stay in the city so their mom will be restless.
Tumblr media
She is married to Samet Şansalan. He has lots of secrets too and to be honest if the show was called "Lies, Lies and More Lies" it would suit better. Everyone in the family hide something and you just watch for them to be revealed one by one.
He basically lost an important amount of his fortune, is screwed up very bad. That's why he needs his eldest son to come back to the country.
Tumblr media
Cihan Şansalan. Very much giving Yağız Egemen vibe. (ofc nobody can replace him but this is for you to have an idea)
He lives in Germany, runs his own company. His mother died of cancer when he was 5 years old. After Sumru had left the city where she'd given birth to her twins, she came to Nevşehir, Cappadocia and found a job as Cihan's nanny. (She is actually a teacher). 1 year after Cihan's mother had died, Sumru and Samet Şansalan got married.
Tumblr media
Sumru sees Cihan like her own kid but Sumru's mother, this woman, is the reason he felt like an extra in his father's new family.
He wanted to leave and go to a boarding school at the age of 12. He basically raised himself and became independent.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He comes back and learns his dad has cancer and needs him to take over the company so it won't go bankrupt. The first one is a lie (he got recovered from it) but the latter is true. His father makes himself look pitiful even though he knows his first wife died because of the same reason. Shameful.
He of course decides to stay in Turkiye but later finds out his father also wants him to marry Sevilay, Cihan's cousin. He says "ew!", rightfully, and rejects it. Then his father reveals only to him that she is not actually his cousin, she is adopted. He wants them to get marry because the girl's biological father is very rich and about to die. So the inheritance money will be enough for the company to not go bankrupt.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They're actually step-siblings, but only she knows it. He likes her at the first sight and she knows he is actually her step-sibling but can't tell the truth. And the fact that he is getting engaged to Sevilay doesn't help it either. Basically they're falling in love with each other in this mess.
He reminds me of Yağız a little. Mature, trusthworthy, feeling lonely but also judges people quickly.
Like this scene. He's such an idiot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like the way Hazan and Yağız argued at the beginning of the show because of a misunderstanding, he harshly questions her but Melek answers him gracefully. She is not Hazan, guys, don't expect from her to give him a knife wound even though there are knives on the table. *lol*
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He learns the truth later and goes to her to apologize. He slowly becomes a goner for her.
They have great chemistry. She's such a baby-faced beauty, also her name (Melek) literally means "angel". He looks at her as if she really were one.

Siyah Kalp, episode 2: There was also a woman called Sumru. She looked at me that way. Like I was a thief. Like she never give a birth to me, like I was the guilty one. For a woman called Sumru, we don't exist. She doesn't even believe in our existence.

Deceptively simple or fantastically intricate, ikat technique has been used for many centuries to create extravagant costumes and cloths of deep cultural meaning. The distinctively blurred, feathered or jagged patterns of ikat-dyed textiles are found across much of the world - from Japan in the east to Central and South America in the west, with vast areas of South-east Asia, India, Central Asia and the Middle East in between. The traditional patterns still hold cultural relevance today in significant parts of the long-established ikat-weaving areas. Textile artists and fashion designers in many and varied countries have taken ikat in new directions, respecting traditional forms and palettes while creatively diverging from them.
This is the first time all the different iterations of this textile have been comprehensively brought together in one volume, drawing from the wide-ranging collection of David Paly. It is a journey across the world through the lens of ikat.
