Order Up | Kai & Rachel
@summertidesun
“Kai~” Rachel called out as she entered the kitchen of the Starry Sky Cafe. Since the Leuda location had opened, they’d had a steady stream of customers. It was a unique place to eat, unlike any of the others around the island, after all. “We’ve got another order in! One Omelet Curry Rice and a side of fries. Oh, and I’ve got a table that was asking for something special from the chef. You up for it? I’ll give you free reign on that one~”
Rachel placed the order ticket up on the line in the kitchen, then went to get the table their drink orders. She missed using the espresso machine at the other location, her skills in latte art ever-improving, but making the extremely aesthetically pleasing Italian cream sodas was good enough. “If you need anything, just check the walk-in. We got our order in this morning, so we should be fully stocked.”

Culinary Magic || Felicity & Kai
@summertidesun;
[ ♥ ] — Felicity sighs contently to herself as she sits on the sun deck of the Frying Pan, enjoy the crisp ocean breeze through her hair as she finishes up what was probably her fifth ordered meal within the last hour alone.
The waitress had been dining on the ship for the last couple of hours, not in her capacity as a food critic, but rather as an act of leisure. She hadn’t gotten the chance to visit the ship restaurant yet, and since she had some time off of work today, Felicity decided to use this rare free time to come and finally check it out for herself.
And what a wonderful decision it had been. The food here was delicious--- so much so that she just couldn’t get enough of it! She wanted to order even more, perhaps maybe move on to the dessert course, but even Felicity knew she needed to exercise restraint. Everything was better in moderation, and she needn’t exceed her limits.
By the time Felicity’s finishing up her current meal, the sun was already starting to set, covering the ocean and boat in a warm, gentle glow. She smiles at the sight, and then pulls up the Frying Pan’s information on her phone. If she was reading the operating hours right, then the employees should be having an hour break around this time.
Maybe she could stick around, and wait for the evening hours to begin?

I Herd You Cook Woolies
@summertidesun
After the weird dance that had turned everyone into a younger version of themselves and the embarrassing apology he had to give to Laney (and Georgia it felt like), Neil had some questions to ask Felicity. After doing some interrogating, he found out a not so pleasant news about Felicity’s new friend, Kai.
As it turns out, this Kai guy, eats woolies! Cute innocent monsters! Not only woolies, but other monsters too! So he assumed. Felicity had only let the part about the woolies slip, but he wouldn’t it past this man. If this menace could eat one species, he could certainly eat another.
So, after doing a little research, Neil found out this sick person owned a restaurant that served the fluffy monsters. Without wasting any more time, he ventures out to the so called Frying Pan and waits around until he sees the culprit. When the man appears he takes a stance and crosses his arms.
“You.” Was all the needed to say, the sharp glare in his eyes and furrowed brows said quite enough.

Maid My Day
[ @ladyshadowland | @summertidesun | @anephemeralwish | @marveloushello ]
At the maid café, there were several hard-working co-workers and Laney was glad to be a part of the team. Since today's the Flower Festival, she decided to give them a token of her appreciation. She had a white calla lily and a red alstroemeria tied together in a pretty bow with a red satin ribbon. She handed them to each of her co-workers with a grin.
"Thank you for everything you do! Happy Flower Festival! Thank you for being such good co-workers, I've had the most delightful time working with you guys~"

Flower Festival || Kai
@summertidesun
Early in the morning when she got to work, Sonja had a bright and cheerful grin on her face. It was the Flower Festival! And she would be giving flowers to everyone she knew! Or at least, as much as her wallet could handle anyways.
So, when she saw Kai around the back, Sonja handed him a pink peony and a red alstromeria. “Happy Flower Festival, Kai! Thanks for being my friend after all this time!”

Finding The Center || Kai & Elliott
@summertidesun
The matter of his hair was...was still questionable, to say the least. Elliott had taken to avoiding the mirrors in his house, even as it made Angela watch him too closely, and only after he realized how exhausted Chase looked and sounded every time he checked in with Elliott while running these two simultaneous restaurants did he decide that...well, ultimately, something had to change. Fears had to be faced. A balance needed to be found again.
It wasn’t about the hair. He knew that logically. He understood it. But...but it was better to put blame on that. Better to focus on it than the fears lurking deep inside of himself.
Regardless, he had to get out of the house, if only so Chase didn’t give him that look when he saw him next and had to confess that he’d worked from home every day that week again. He had to. And the beach had always been soothing.
Just after the sun had kissed the sky, Elliott found himself at the beach, shirt quietly discarded on the ground, his bare feet digging into the sand, as he slowly took himself through a form. It was a simple one, with just enough flair to get his muscles pumping. Nothing too extreme. He’d ease more into his capoiera later. For now, just the steady, building pace of orchestrated punches and kicks, until he was moving through it at full speed, sending sand flying with his foot or letting out a sharp, stilted breath when he threw a controlled punch.
By the time he finished, sweat beaded his brow, and he faced the rising sun, taking a deep breath and trying to settle the weight still stirred in his chest.

Close Enough || Kai & Iluka
❀ @summertidesun ❀
If someone were to ever ask Iluka if she planned on living with someone other than her sister when she decided to move back, she would have laughed in their face. She had grown used to living alone and now preferred it, though she would make the exception for her twin. But, when she had heard from Kai that he slept on his boat, her motherly instincts kicked in and she could not allow it. It didn’t seem safe or comfortable and he was like a brother to her, so his safety was a main concern of hers.
After all, he was her Ludus 2.0. Not quiet him, but close enough.
There was also a bonus to having him move in with her: in return for not paying her rent, he would have to help with anything around the house that she needed. Again, Ludus 2.0. When she thought about it, it was not too different from how she treated him before, but now he had less of a reason to tell her no. It was perfect!
“You better wash up before sitting at the table.”
Kai had just walked through the door just as Iluka was getting ready to set the table. Another rule she had for him was that he had to be home in time for dinner. If she was going to cook for two, then there were going to be two people at this table. That is, unless her gave her ample time to know that he wasn’t coming home or was going to be late.

Like Pulling Teeth || Kai & Rick
@summertidesun
Kai was back in town. Rick had not only heard it through the grapevine, but had seen it with his own two eyes the day before, when he’d been walking through Arcadia, had seen Kai and Popuri laughing together, and had dove behind a building so he wouldn’t be seen.
Rick never said he was smart.
Regardless, he’d avoided contact with Kai for an eternity - since the last time he’d seen him back home, even. They’d never crossed paths here. And, though he was sure that Popuri had to have mentioned Rick’s arrival so many months before, he somehow doubted that Kai even cared.
Regardless...Rick was trying to be better. Trying. And so he ended up on the dock, standing at the foot of the gangplank to The Frying Pan, staring with a scowl at the vessel itself.
Trying was one thing, but the seasickness he remembered being so rampant on his first journey to Arcadia was another thing entirely.
He can’t stay in there forever, right? He has to come out sometime...I hope.

Curiosity || Georgia & Kai
@summertidesun;
[🐎] — Deep down, some part of her knew how bad of an idea this was going to be, but her stubbornness and curiosity won out in the end, as it often did. A restaurant on a ship... a restaurant that, according to everyone who went, had some of the most delicious food in the entire archipelago. Boat or no, seasickness or no, how could she pass something like that up?
She figured she would just be there long enough for one meal, and then leave once she was done. But that had been under the impression that the boat would remain docked while they ate-- even if it swayed, a stationary vessel was a lot more bearable than a moving one. She didn’t at all take into account the possibility that it’d be sailing the whole time.
...Which it was, and now instead of ordering or eating, Georgia was in her seat, doubled over as her stomach twisted and turned, head aching as nausea began to take over.
And so, curiosity kills the horse cat.

Jack O’Lantern Herbarium Event || open starter
Honestly, Trent had mostly come for the event later in the evening, interested in seeing how Licorice made the herbarium samples. But this sounded like fun, and something nice and cheery he could put in his apartment, so he came in for the earlier event as well. In jeans and simple flannel in deference to the cooling air and potentially messy task, he made his way in. He waved to Licorice but wasn’t sure she’d seen him, as she was talking to someone else at the time. He drifted over to the table full of pumpkins and tried to decide what he thought would be best.

Meet My New Pet, The Monster || Siluka & Kai
@summertidesun
Siluka stroked a hand over Pikake’s crystalline petals, the monster trilled happily in return and followed her new mother down the dock and to a large boat. Siluka stepped aboard and knocked on the cabin door, Pikake waiting patiently behind her.
When the door finally opened, Siluka smiled at her friend and stepped aside to reveal her new pet.
“Hello Kai, I wanted you to meet Pikake.”

Oh, Hell || Karen & Kai
@summertidesun
Casing out a potential raid took time, and though there were other people doing the true dirty work - Karen’s face was possibly a little too well-known around Leuda - she was good for a distraction. As she strolled down the docks, she could feel eyes on her - policeman patrolling the streets, sailors whose boats she’d plundered at one time or another before she paid off her warrant, people ready to take her in and bleed her dry.
That was the joy of being the distraction: while other crew members were actually getting all the info that they needed to know, she could waltz along with her hands shoved into her pockets pretending that she wasn’t even slightly aware of the people looking at her.
She moved around a group of people, giving the lovely lady in the midst of them a grin and a tilt of her head, and she stared just a few seconds longer as she walked before turning her head and coming to a dead stop.
“Aw, hell, you?” She’d run into this guy at least twenty times over the past ten years, and every single time she’d been plundering a boat he just happened to be working on. The man had to be cursed. Kai was his name, right?
