Day 23: What’s your favorite performance?

One of the main reasons I love Shipwrecked so much is because every performance in everything they’ve made is PHENOMENAL. It was very tempting to just answer this question with “ALL OF THEM” and move on. But I take this challenge seriously, so I’m forcing myself to pick one, and I’m going with Sean Persaud as Edgar Allan Poe in A Cryptmas Carol because

Sean has always been amazing as Poe, but I feel like in A Cryptmas Carol he truly out-Poed himself. He’s the perfect blend of super creepy

and tragically adorable

that Shipwrecked’s version of Poe has always been, but taken to the next level, and it’s beyond incredible.

Happy Birthday Sean Persaud

#SummerOfShipwrecked Day 22: the most happy of birthdays to the wonderful Sean Persaud who can play a variety of characters from dismal Poe to heartbroken Charlie to rejected James to traumatized Ford from .... the war. Not only can he act and deliver deadbeat comedic gold, his writing skills along with his sister’s are Oscar worth. They emotionally drain you one moment and make you roll on the floor laughing another. So a very joyous birthday and I hope you have good luck this year!

I am behind in Summer of Shipwrecked so here we go!

1) How did I first find out about Shipwrecked? Um hmm let’s see. After I finished the Lizzie Bennet Diaries I watched a lot of things that the actors were in and I stumbled onto Kissing in the Rain and from then on I loved Shipwrecked.

2) What’s your favorite Shipwrecked Project? Poe Party. I love Clue and I was familiar with a lot of the authors featured so it was a perfect blend of really cool and fun things.

3) Who’s your favorite Poe Party author to read? Jane Austen definitely. But I also like Poe and Emily Dickinson.

4) What’s your favorite Shipwrecked short? I love Edgar Allan Poe's A Cryptmas Carol! And Socially Awkward Edgar Allan Poe: Girl Scout Cookies is also a good one.

5) What’s the most surprising plot twist? Annabelle’s death in Poe Party is one that sticks out the most.

6) Which Shipwrecked member do you relate to the most? I relate to all of them for different reasons. But I think I relate to Sinead the most because of her love for spooky things (And Asian-Americans represent!)

7) Who would you like to see Shipwrecked work with? Oooh that’s a fun question um anyone from Starkid and specifically (stealing Tay’s answer) Nick Lang and Jon Matteson

Summer of Shipwrecked, Day 3

Who is your favorite Poe Party author to read?

I’ve actually read something by all of the Poe Party authors. But my top three authors are:

1) Jane Austen. She’s my favorite author in general, not just among Poe Party. Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion rank in my top 10 favorite books ever, and the rest of her novels aren’t that far behind.

2) Agatha Christie. Again, she ranks in my top 5 favorite authors in general. I have read all of her mysteries and plays and consider And Then There Were None to be one of my favorite books.

3) Louisa May Alcott. Little Women was my favorite childhood book (I first read it at age 7), and I’ve read it so many times.

Day 1: How did you first find out about Shipwrecked?

@tsscat kept reblogging the new Poe Party episodes, and at that point I had learned to trust my friends’ fandoms to be amazing, so I started watching!

Day One!

I discovered Shipwrecked through a YouTube recommendation of KitR after I watched the LBD. I started watching the first episode but got very confused because it seems to start part way through the story 😂

Eventually I watched it properly (after seeing heaps of love for it on @welovewebseries (thanks Rae!!)) and immediately fell in love, so went on to watch AttV and start counting the days until Poe Party!

Who is your favorite Poe Party author to read?

Day 13: What is your favorite Shipwrecked joke?

This was very hard for me because there are so many great Shipwrecked jokes that I love, but I'm going with this one for several reasons. The idea of Hollywood Power Couple Sean Persaud and Mary Kate Wiles having “no chemistry at all” is, of course, utterly laughable. But then, the fact that they’re able to convince people that they have no chemistry just demonstrates their superb acting skills. Also, Annabel forcing her hand into Edgar’s is possibly the best and funniest awkward moment in anything ever.

In addition to this part being hilarious in and of itself, the timing of it is quite wonderful. Because this is literally the first thing we see after H.G.’s death, and it instantly lightens the mood and reminds us that we’re in a comedy. But it also lulls the audience into a false sense of security. I remember watching this for the first time and thinking, Of course, nothing in this show stays tragic for long. They’d never end an episode on too depressing of a note. And then the next episode happened... but let’s not talk about that. Anyway, this is a great joke.

Summer of Shipwrecked: Day 2

What’s your favorite Shipwrecked project?

As a huge fan of classic literature and murder mysteries, there’s no doubt that Poe Party is my favorite Shipwrecked project. Everything from the different authors’ interactions with each other, the costumes, the oh-so-quotable dialogue, and the intricate plot was done so beautifully. Also, it made me cry (a lot), and anything that can make me laugh and cry THAT much is going to be a favorite of mine.
