Could see it was super clear up in the mountains the other night, and there was no moon out, either. So we went up to Bear Lake to stare at the Milky Way and take some photos.
All the other times we've gone up at night it's been winter, too, so this was a really neat experience to look down into the dark surface of the lake and see stars reflected right down below our feet.
The wind was pretty calm most of the time, but I love the way you can see it pick up in this time lapse by the disturbance it creates sweeping across the surface of the lake.
The big one with the squarish top is Longs Peak, the highest point in the park, also visible (from the other side) from our house.
The prominent mountain in this one is Hallett Peak.

#something something i know winter is typically associated more w the occult&mystical expansion thru introversion#but summer has always been the season i evolve most spiritually in lmao.#the summer i spent homeless&living in the woods&living off a constant fire+the lake in a space where the milky way was visible#every single night even the nights it rained.#was probably one of the most expansive experiences ive ever had lmao.#&it was obviously a lot more going on than just the deep connection to nature#but ive always needed dirt under my feet&nails to really expand the way i need to or want to.#&theres no howling at the moon like an animal in the dead of winter lmao at least not for me.#plus theres the act of growing. growing things is such a spiritual experience for me.#anyway im repotting a pineapple strawberry plant today&im really stoked on it lmao my fruit plants are doing well so far. :)#now that its may its almost time for pepper+tomato plants to start coming thru. :')♡

Went on a random adventure with the parents to see if we could see the aurora (we couldn't)
but
Saw the milky way for the first time
Saw so many shooting stars
#happiness diary#happiness diary: august 2024#there was so many stars#i was trying to see the summer triangle but i couldn't tell where it was#cus there were so many stars that were bright#also the milky way clouds!!!#magic#earlier in the day I got a notification for an aurora warning so I told the parents#and they were monitoring it for the whole day but it kept changing like maby or maybe not#then last minute we decided to go anyway#also turns out im weak to car sickness again so m#i don't really feel good right now#but it was worth it#aquarius still eludes me tho#he was hanging out in the 1 area of light pollution...#everything else was so clear we could see the milky way clouds but aquarius was like hmm no im gonna hide#like my dude i wish to see you ger out the light pollution#another time i guess
