Sarada in Boruto chapter 16

I feel SOOO bad for my baby. Sarada has worked incredibly hard to keep the village safe in the last few chapters, nearly lost her life trying to protect Boruto from Kawaki, and has to deal with everyone hating on her dad and her him being a tree only to be called stupid and inconsiderate by someone who was supposed to be her friend? What a joke

Sarada is one of the few who understands most about how Boruto is feeling, she literally cries for him when omnipotence happened.

I hope Sarada ignores Sumire's cruel words this chapter, because on the other hand, Boruto seems so grateful for her support.

It would be terrible if Boruto lost Sarada's support just because Sumire doesn't like Sarada being near Boruto. Besides it's not as if Sumire couldn't have hugged him too, there was no reason to lash out at Sarada and make her feel even worse );

Eida knows Sarada & Sumire are immune to her abilities.

Whats weird to me is that Eida just doesn't further question that Sarada & Sumire are acting so normal, like I would have never bought Sumire's excuse. NO SHOT!

I think Eida is protecting those two from her clingy little brother.

She has stated before that she wants to have actual friends, but probably knows Daemon would try to kill them potentially if he figures it out (that part isn't so much stated but it's the way he's looking at Sarada & Sumire when he's considering they may not be affected).

He's overprotective, clingy, & overpowered; a terrible combination for her to be around in this case where she would like some actual friends. He's also very eager to fight people!

She 100% went along with Sumire's bullshit excuse to keep those two safe from her brother. She literally pauses for a moment before agreeing with them!

We'll see how good the excuse is when the official translation is out, but I think Eida's playing along so she can have actual friends around her. She knows whats actually going on here, she isn't a fool.

Let me get this one thing off my chest

I have been a fan of the Naruto series since 2006, when I was just barely a sophmore in high school), and in 2014, I was so happy to have seen my biggest anime ship at the time (NaruHina) finally become canon. That being said, the Boruto manga/anime for me has been nothing but disappointment after disappointment.

Hinata went from being this brave, selfless girl to a complete pushover who barely interacts with her own son, and Naruto just kept border lining into deadbeat dad territory. Boruto himself was a character I used to really like, before I eventually realized he was just a carbon copy of Naruto (and would eventually go on to be a carbon copy of Sasuke after the time skip).

Sarada and Mitsuki were characters that I also used to really like. Mitsuki at least got some development in the first few seasons of the anime, while the manga just keeps treating him like an afterthought in favor of BoruSara. Speaking of which, am I the only one who finds BoruSara to be overrated in terms of Naruto ships? I’m not trying to say that no one else is allowed to ship it, you have your reasons, and I respect that. I just personally find BoruSara to be really cliché and way too derivative of other Naruto ships (especially SasuSaku, SasuNaru, NaruSaku and MinaKushi). Plus, I’m kinda sick of the whole “best friends to lovers” thing between the main boy and the main girl. One of the things that made the original Naruto manga so refreshing to me, was the fact that Naruto grew to accept Sakura’s feelings for Sasuke and remained good friends with her in spite of that.

So far, the only characters in Boruto that continue to be interesting to me are Sumire and Himawari. The former has one of the best backstories in the entire Naruto franchise and she still continues to be useful in the manga, despite only being a side character, and the latter has been getting SO much great character development in the manga so far. And best of all, neither of these girls have their characters tied down by a romantic relationship with a boy (and let’s face it, the last thing this fandom needs is more shipping wars). So, I am going to be REALLY pissed if Kishimoto ever decides to undo all of their development like he did with Hinata and Sakura in the very same manga.

I’m warning you, Kishimoto…if you even TRY to screw over Sumire and Himawari in favor of a male character, that’s the last time I’m ever gonna read something of yours.

Ok Ik everyone shat on sumire and borusumi following that one chapter where boruto snubs sumire’s attempt to talk and like tbh if I was sumire I would’ve lost interest immediately. I like to think of myself as unentitled, but I felt the disrespect boruto gave to sumire through the screen while reading. I mean, he didn’t have to get into any long or emotional convo with her (like the bare minimum was “oh hey sumire, nice to see you again as well” or sumn like that) but his short, dismissive response and then immediately switching over to Sarada- like Sumire, he’s not gonna pay attention to you and you need to drop these feelings. Again, If I was her I would have gotten turned off from that and go find a better use of my feelings cause that was just disrespectful. Idk, it’s just frustrating to see sumire have strong, romantic feelings for boruto and he doesn’t even care that much for her(but this was only one scene too so I’m keeping an open mind that this was just a one time thing)

Btw I’m not a borusumi or borusara shipper so these are just my neutral thoughts. I think what’s also important to remember is boruto has a lot on his mind and more troubling things to deal with. His actions could’ve been unintentional, really.

Oh jeez oh fuck, Boruto has this new tic where he keeps meaning to call Sasuke Master but something else comes out on accident. It's like a hole has opened up in him that was created by losing his family! He misses his family!

And remember how whenever he came home his sister would always greet him with a humongous hug?? Today, when he came home, it was different. She only called him by his first name.

Sarada's hug was the first familiar thing that he has experienced in three years! Himawari and his mom can't give it to him anymore! It's before the page where he goes "I'm home now". It's what he needed to really feel like he's made it home. Oh my god all these different things really show how much losing his family is affecting him.
