Toshio had been sound asleep when his phone started ringing. Of course, this was no annoyance to him for the only one who had his number was one of his favorite people in the world. So his pulse quickening with excitement the sleepy writer snatched the phone from where it lay beside his futon and opened it with a tiny creak. The message that greeted him was a picture from Fuyuhiko, not of the man himself but instead a large chestnut horse. And the arm holding it’s halter was childlike enough to be the yakuza boss’, so this couldn’t even be a wrong number.

Mornin', sleeping beauty.

Togami woke up with an uncharacteristically pleasant smile on his face. He felt entirely, completely comfortable— the blankets draped across his form felt wonderful against his skin, and the person whose back was pressed up against his own left him at just the right temperature— wait, what.

His eyes shot wide open and his immediate reaction was to crane his neck to get a good look behind him. He really wasn’t prepared for the sight he came to face: his previously unidentified bed-buddy was Kuzuryuu, curled up into a ball on the other side of the mattress.

Pure terror washed over his features, and the panic wasted no time in setting in: oh god, how can he get out of this situation without making it weird? He was in his own house, maybe it would be best if he just pretended to be asleep. Then, his unexpected guest will be the one who thinks he made it weird!

Byakuya’s mind was so frantic that he didn’t even consider pondering how it came to be that this man was in his bed— but a quick look downwards revealed that Togami still had his boxers on, so it couldn’t be anything too awful.

As if on cue, Kuzuryuu shifted away from him at last— (okay, thank goodness, at least they weren’t touching anymore.)— only to roll over, curling up into Togami’s back.

Byakuya Togami was the little spoon to a yakuza boss.

That would be hard to explain to Chiaki the next day.
